The Lin couple are playing cat and mouse to get to the truth about the usury loans. JinQi is kinda scary looking towards the shopkeeper but I gotta appreciate his smirk as he watches the shopkeeper move well away from the coal brazier. LanXian got tagged with fixing lady’s favorite stole where reward or punishment will be received depending on quality of work and satisfaction of lady. While she is admiring it JinQi arrives with a work authorization to be paid in silver. He is wanting her seal and using this as an excuse. The account book has already been received with cousin’s seal noted inside. She did not get a chance to confirm with her seal yet. What was of note is that LanXiang recognized the couple seal and hid it from Jin Qi. First Lady noted this and had maid reward with most disliked silver ring. There is a sweet scene of the three maids in quarters. The one notes the other two have been promoted and she tries to warn the one that likes to eat what to avoid. The cliff notes was follow LanXiang 🤣 It was a special time because there aren’t many fun memories in this household. Both of the new second level maids confirmed they are not interested in being heir carriers. I am sure the irony of this hits LanXiang as this was once her dream. Mr Xu has been scammed again but the other girl’s mother is a night soil collector so she got the loving handmade gifts to LanXiang for them. I liked how the girls compared clothes and outsmarted mean girl at the door. Interesting how opera singers sing discord about public opinion. She covered it well but I am sure was well aware the effect her song had on lady. Next preview shows JinQi trying to get LanXiang to be his spy and promising to keep her family safe. She already knows how THAT turns out.😔

When they announced the Young Master was coming to meet the Young Madam, my mind went crazy and I held my breath... Then the seals fell out of the box... That whole scene was so tense. It felt like a perfect moment for him to somehow notice her, but no... It wasn't time yet. 😬🫣 And now she's earned some favour and gratitude with the Young Madam for hiding the one he was looking for, and I can only wonder how far Jialan will be able to get with that favour. 🤔But the story the opera singer told Xiaolian doesn't allow me to relax. Is that what's going to happen when Jinqi discovers the whole truth about the account books and his wife's lover? 😟 Also, considering Jialan is investigating the same thing, I assume that is what will bring her onto Jinqi's radar. And I can't wait for it to happen! 🫣With the new lady entering the Lin residence, I see her as a potential rival for Jinqi's heart and the status of his wife. Could she potentially be more of a villain than Zhao Xingtang ever was? Will have to decide when they show her to us. 🤨But they are definitely not holding back on the tension! Even when showing just daily routines or casual conversations between Jialan and the other two girls, I have an uneasy feeling in the background that none of them are safe and they could easily become victims in their masters' game at any moment. I really hope nothing bad happens to any of them! 🙏🥺

I really wonder what the wife (Zhao Xingtang) is aiming for?She didn't want this marriage, she already said that this was a prison for her. Her mother urges her to have a child with Lin Jin Qi (ML) because in the background (it's really her father pressuring her).
And her grandfather believes that their family can use the Lin family to propel higher. But the ML is not that easily controlled. It's too bad that her brother (we haven't met him yet) can't act as the support of the family either. From the maid's perspective, the wife is powerful but she is also powerless against her husband, her mother-in-law and her own family.
A contrast to the FL family's (in the first episode, her mother said that after marriage, they would be her support). Even though her original family is gone, she still has her adoptive parents (despite being low status).The wife wants to escape, thinking that if she makes enough money, she can leave. But we don't know this cousin of hers, is he trustworthy? He mentions how once they have enough money, things will be better.
Does she think that after she gets divorced, she will be fine??? In ancient China, there are two forms of divorce, (xiu qi and he li), the latter being known as "separating amicably." It's slightly better in terms of reputation, but will Zhao Xingtang get the freedom that she wants?Have to keep watching to find out what happens to her.... But I have a feeling that her end result won't be good....

the plot itself is moving fairly slow but HOLY SHIT its still engaging because every scene in this episode kept me on the edge 😭

violetceltic 37 minutes agoThe plot is advancing slowly but inexorably. If I recall correctly, this is the first time the two protagonists—master and maid—have been in such close proximity; they are in the same room, and she looks terrified. The wife is literally risking her neck—not with just one lover, but two; honestly, it seems like she *wants* to get caught. The first wife’s courtyard is a hotbed of envy and underhanded schemes among the maids—some quite innocent, others more calculating. The husband—the protagonist—is hunting for evidence against his wife; it is clear he wants to get rid of her, and he will almost certainly succeed. We’ll see what happens tomorrow. I’m still really enjoying this drama.

This should be tag as a thriller 😭. Every steps, every movement , every single word, Lan Xiang has to be ten steps ahead of her master. I felt her fear and it was captured on screen. That ink stamp scene had a high degree of suspense and her revealing the arm was so compelling. Hope the two of her partners will come out alive.
Now waiting and watching how she will navigate through these dangerous situations…every moment seems like a trap🥲. Can’t wait to see her and her family end their servitude and start a better brand new journey. JiaYou!
