I love how He Yan saves Mr. Chu. Even though he's still the second male lead, it's always great to see the female lead save the male lead so overtly without the male lead saving her in return like a counterbalance. Even better was Cheng Lisu's support of Song Taotao. Never even having to be convinced to "let" her go somewhere dangerous/only a man should go. He supports her each time unwaveringly, to her shock and sadly ours. You could tell he would have advocated for her choice even if it was dangerous or unwomanly. I know he's less "manly" than Xiao Jue, but it still means a lot - to have a man so confident in a woman's abilities and so willing to support her and respect her. I can't even say that about Xiao Jue, though he obviously respects and doesn't underestimate He Yan's abilities at all; it just gets overshadowed by his need to protect - his constant reminders that she's a woman. This is such a feminist show for China, I'm loving it and I hope they don't ruin it.Also He Yan's speech to the women at the training ground was MARVELOUS, and I love how Xiao Jue totally supported her with that. His eyes were saying, that's why I love her.

Fierce Battle in Jiyang

It was Uncle Cui before, but now it's Mr Cui, thinking about preventing the invasion by Wutuos. XJ and HY met CZ there, and he was asking about how to address her now given the situation, and literally XJ didn't disappoint "YOU SHOULD CALL HER MRS. QIAO" (Bro really be getting into the character of mr Qiao and boasting everywhere IT'S MY WIFE) 🤣. He smiles a bit wider at He Yan whenever Chu Zhao is present 🤣. XJ reminded HY that she was going to visit elders, He was just indirectly telling HY that you've seen enough of him, let's go now🤣. While walking around she met CZ, he wanted to make up for the time he missed the visit on Baiyue Mountain to admire the Moon, therefore he wanted to give her a gift, previously noticed her purple whip and wanted to give her a Tassel (more like a flower pendant, just like thise hung at waist), although she declined stating that it's valuable, after his mentioning that "we're friends" she accepted it, beautiful things for beautiful people 🌸. She immediately attached the Tassel on her Whip's handle, and it did look pretty, he was like "PERFECT MATCH" ✨. In return she gave him a sugar figurine floral basket made by her personally. I really love to just stare at CZ's reaction to things HY does. She made the basket and wrote his name too, Zilan (fragrant orchid), yeah the person who chose this name for him did love him dearly. He Yan knew for certain after this small incident that CZ is afraid of fire 🔥. Just as they went back, they met XJ in the corridor, ahhhhhhhh! He immediately noticed the Tassel on her Whip at her waist🌝, I can't stop laughing 🤣, when CZ told XJ that HY gifted him a Sugar Figurine in return for his Tassel, he couldn't stop himself and said "She once gave me Osmanthus Candies, a whole handful, more than I could eat" GEGE are we competing about He Yan's Gifts? Like who got a more valuable gift from her🤣, cause she'll give you a daughter too in future🤣. While Zilan (really like to call him that) was showing off that HY personally wrote his name😂. When HY offered to buy more sweets he really gave her a side eye😬. This Gift comparing competition, I loved it🤣. Now back to serious shit, Several Crucial Granaries are ablaze, and the Wutuos did it, the situation seems similar to the Que City and Mingshui Battle, After such a bold move by Wutuos, XJ definitely wouldn't let it pass, (Didn't CZ threw the Sugar Figurine given by HY in the fire burning in the Fireplace? Or was it a later event? I don't remember anymore). Jiyang has less than 20,000 men to fight against the enemy, while XJ has offered his assistance, he'll help them, (Literally have been dying to watch the Jiyang Battle Arc since the show started). He's a military commander so leaving his post in Yezhou without notice is already a breach of military law, moreover if he were to lead this Battle against Wutuo, it'll be an even graver offence, That's HY's Xiao Dudu, he'll risk everything for his country and people as a General ✨. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Bless my eyes , finally got see Wifey in Armor! ⚔️ The commander who was training the soldiers scoffed when HY said that the soldiers looked slack, cause they haven't fought in a war, but XJ gave them a challenge that 10 people can attack her at once🤣, he really honor her excessively😂. While the young ladies unaware of her identity and thinks she's crazy for challenging ten soldiers at once🤣. She beat all thise rookies (no war experience, so it's suitable). She inspired the women there to help. CZ can't just keave the city like that, he only has two options either die in this city or survive to confirm his suspicions. The Battle is near, they're all working hard. CZ didn't need to stay in the city, but he is staying, and even took on the responsibility of seeing the citizen's evacuation and settlement, so he has to finish the task. I was waiting for the scene where HY protected CZ from the fire 🤭. Ofc she's well informed about Huyate, she's been dealing with Wutuos for a long time as General Feihong🤭. Her Master was unable to go back to the Princess because his master didn't let him🫠. HY gave the mermaid silk dress to CZ (cause it won't catch fire). While HY offered to lead the Elite troops ahead in Battle to draw the heavy armor units away, and her hubby said "HE YAN! LISTEN! COME BACK ALIVE. 🤭

The ‘uncle’ met with them and they now discuss war plans. Chu runs into He Yan and presents her a tassel for her weapon. She should have kept her first instinct to reject but opted to accept the gift and return one. Xiao Jue runs into them and notes the tassel and suggests he be careful or will be left with dust, referring to more than just the candy.😝When he asked how to address Ms He, Xiao Jue spoke right up and said he could address her as Mrs Qiao. 😂 Chu’s guard is in agreement about the candy. I think it will get an ‘oops’ on the way back. The commander accepts leadership of the troops even tho it could cause him trouble. He pushes that aside and says his duty is to protect all the people. Wutuo insurgents are burning the granaries taking the offensive. Xiao Jue puts He Yan in charge of the troops. When she is mocked, he told ten of them to attack her at once. She kicks their rookie behinds and even gives a hand up to the biggest mocker. They are now in agreement she knows what she’s doing. She even has the women inspired to help raise funds and make medicine. She has another encounter with Chu who she saves from a collapsing food stand damaged by fire. She sends him fire resistant clothing to help him with his fear. The people that can are fleeing the city, but Chu refuses to leave. He is determined to find Chai Anxi and determine the extent his mentor is involved in treason. He still is intrigued by He Yan and his gray character sets her aside from the norm. I don’t know that he will assist her, but I don’t think he will cause her harm either. I think she may make him imagine what could have been under different circumstances. I don’t even know that he sees her in a romantic light so much as wanting her friendship and respect. He sees her as someone worth knowing. There is just ambiguity of what type of knowing he has in mind. Xiao Jue would prefer no interaction of any kind. They now have a war room and are strategizing for best course of action. There is a flashback where we see what happened and why Liu Bu Wang did not return to his princess. He was pleading his case and his master said there would be too much discord without a marriage alliance. He even refused to let him return by knocking him out and keeping him under house arrest til the arranged marriage was a done deal. He plays the same melancholy song outside her window, but she refuses to see him. If he couldn’t see her then, she doesn’t need him now. There is no way for him to plead his case with her. Even tho she figures it wasn’t his fault she doesn’t want to hear it. She can’t open her heart to trust him again. The Wutuo army looks pretty formidable and they are getting ready to burst through the gate. He Yan asks commander to lead the elite troops to generate distractions for their elite officers. He doesn’t hesitate to agree to her request, but tells her to come back alive, and the episode ends😭 with a long time to wait.
