It’s not FreenBecky’s fault…

…it’s the writers’ and post production teams’.

[TL;DR, Spoiler free]
I commend FreenBecky’s improvement since GAP. I can see that their execution is good. They’ve internalized all of their characters so well and I love them for that!!! The action scenes AND THEIR CHEMISTRY are just *chef’s kiss* 🤌🏽🤌🏽

HOWEVER… the almost 3-hour movie just didn’t deliver for me. The time jumps were confusing and I felt that the conclusion was really rushed. I swear, the story flow were incomprehensible at times. It also didn’t balance the sci-fi and rom-drama genres.

————————————————————————————————————————————

[MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD!]

There are a lot of things that needs improvement:
- The sequencing shots of the parallel world travel confused me A LOT, especially when THERE’S LITERALLY THE SAME COLOR GRADING EXCEPT FOR KATH’S LAST TRAVEL (since it took place on the world war era)! If it wasn’t for my friend who also watched the movie with me (and for Kath and Lin’s wigs lol), I’d be lost at times. The contrast between the “worlds”/“eras” only has subtle differences and happens out of the blue, so you need to be more observant to connect the storyline.

Also, just when I was about to engage and symphatize with the leads in that parallel world, the scene just cuts! Just like that conclusion!

- The subtitles doesn’t match what they’re saying in English most of the time. It’s kinda frustrating. The lines that they’re saying (especially in English) sometimes doesn’t feel natural too.

- This isn’t a “sci-fi” movie (which the movie was advertised as). Y’all I was fooled by the movie poster. The movie had more shots around Kath’s diving career than Lin’s astronaut career.

- The CGI in that Tsunami part 😭

But I still liked the space scenes. It feels quite realistic and well produced! Some of the shots and visuals are stunning, too, especially Lin and Kath’s motorcycle scene. I swear, Freen and Beckbeck so far has the most oozing chemistry in all of the GL pairs I’ve watched. They’re also did fan service in this film. Like a lot.

————————————————————————————————————————————

FINAL THOUGHTS:
I still give the studio and the people behind this movie a big thumbs up for their efforts for breaking the stereotypic “romantic plot” movies. They still have a lot to improve, but the movie is a great start. I just hope that they hire better post prod team lol. But still watch it for Freen and Becky.

Very unexpected

The whole story was beautiful and emotional. All of the universes they went through were interesting and captivating in their own way. I could really fell both of their desperation and love, and it made me cry a lot in the end.
The only thing i thought could be better is the english parts. Becky and the mom talked with more focus on making the english sound right and 'american' than on the acting itself. Becky even let her british accent slip out in some parts kkkkkkkkk
Also, i know this is my own issue, but i didn't understand the part that Lin is an old lady.
I would definitely recommend this to everyone. It was so good.

Feels like a work in progress

I was looking forward to the science fiction multiverse plot and in most ways it didn't disappoint - although there were scenes from the early promos that I liked MUCH better than the ones that actually made it into the movie - or at least the version of the movie I saw - there may be a different version in another part of the multiverse.

The unifying element of the multiple universes is Kath's consciousness of all the worlds and the relentlessness of her determination to be with Lin, and happy with Lin, in at least one of them. That seems a prospect with diminishing odds, given how many times and in how many random ways they are kept apart.

The sheer ambition of the number of scenarios had to be daunting for the production staff and feels like overreach in parts. It's not that they fail to entertain, because each scenario is compelling in itself. It's that, even at just over two hours running, there simply isn't enough time to do them all justice.

And it's that overreach that leaves the ending feeling rushed and ambiguous. It's hard to be reassured when right up to the end we're treated to the cinematic version of 50 ways to leave your lover.

PROS
High marks for story, soundtrack, action, and romance, and ultra high marks for angst.

The technical production was near flawless; the location scenery was beautiful; and the space mission special effects were impressive.

Freen Sarocha Chankimha's acting was outstanding, natural and engaging throughout, making each of her characters the focal point of shared scenes.

CONS
In the version I saw, the English dialog didn't match the English subtitles, which is just weird, and the Thai subtitles ran on top of the English subtitles, obscuring the dialog in places. Note: It's likely I saw a version that wasn't supposed to be publicly available. The prominent watermark visible throughout gives it away as a film festival copy.

The Tsunami CGI was awkwardly done.

The actor playing space mission commander is cartoonishly awful in his delivery, which ironically fits with the Spaceman Spiff level dialog he's given.

Co-lead Rebecca Patricia Armstrong's physical acting shows tremendous improvement from earlier projects, but her long term career prospects may hinge on getting some truly professional Hollywood level acting lessons to bring her dialog delivery up to standard.

The ending needed more breathing room. The director surely could have borrowed 30 seconds from somewhere to give the characters the resolution they deserved.

SUMMARY
Given the runtime limitations for a cinematic release, I have no doubt a lot of quality work was left on the metaphorical cutting room floor. A multipart series may have been a better vehicle for a project of this scope. If the cinematic release continues to have trouble getting its legs underneath it, maybe a re-edit into a series could give it new life.

solid 8/10

A lot of people seemed to have mixed feelings about the movie, mainly complaining about either the plot or the acting. Honestly, I thought both were great. Some said the universes got all muddled and confusing, but I didn’t feel that way at all. Maybe I’m just simple minded, but for me, everything just clicked.
The story was honestly really good—super emotional and well thought out. Each universe the characters visited felt unique with its own distinct atmosphere and charm. As they moved through these different worlds, I really connected with what they were going through. The raw emotions they felt—especially the mix of desperation and deep love for each other—really hit me hard. It wasn’t just about the plot or the visuals; it was the real, raw emotion that got to me. By the end, I was so moved by their bond that I couldn’t help but cry.
The acting was, as always, amazing. Freenbecky never disappoints, and the chemistry between them was so strong. They brought so much heart to their roles, and it made it impossible not to feel what their characters were feeling. Their performances really added something special to the movie and made the story even more powerful.
That said, as much as I loved it, I think this is one of those films that’s probably best seen a couple of times. It’s so emotionally heavy that it might lose some of its magic on a second or third watch.
Overall, I think it’s a great movie. The characters' emotional journey and the way everything ties together really makes it a film that sticks with you long after it’s over.

Story was all over the place

Let me start by saying that this is an honest reaction as a viewer. I'm not trying to ride the hype train, nor am I discrediting the actresses for their hardwork and effort.

Going into the movie, I was super excited. After all, this is the first sci-fi film for a Thai GL pair. However, during the first 20 mins, it was clear that the creators wanted to convey too many messages and decided to just add everything all at once. The story was going in so many different directions that the viewer is left wondering what is going on. They could have refined the dialogue as well. A lot of lines were repeated and didn't feel natural between the supporting actors. Whatever they were trying to do with this film, it did not work. I wish they went for a more thoughtout script than this.

By the middle of it, the movie was just dragging on. The soundtrack was its saving grace, tbh.

Again, no hate or ill intentions towards the actresses at all. They did a good job with what they were given. That said, this movie isn't worth the hype.

A sci-fi GL film with potential

Being Thailand's first space film, Uranus2324 seems rather promising and has a lot of potential but falls short in many aspects. I watched it three times to get to the point of writing this review.

I like the idea of star-crossed lovers caught between the sea and the sky (or space), but the story itself falls a bit flat. The screenplay really drags it down. The conflicts and emotional parts are there, but the lack of a solid background story makes it difficult for me to fully invest in their journey and emotional connection. Even after watching it three times, the overall vibe still feels pretty shallow. But what I found refreshing is how this film sidesteps the topic of sexual orientation. The love shared between Kath and Lin feels very natural, and there’s no scrutiny surrounding it.

The transitions between different periods and parallel worlds are also not as smooth as they could be, making it hard for me to stay engaged throughout the film. The special effects are not bad, but occasionally feel unpolished. If the CGI had been more refined, I would've been more immersed in the experience.

Despite the shortcomings, there are a couple of redeeming qualities that make this film worth your time. First off, the cinematography is great. I'm a sucker for beauty shots, and the camerawork really captures the essence of the story in a visually appealing way. The use of color, light, and composition effectively enhances the on-screen storytelling. And let’s not forget the action scenes; those fighting, freediving and spaceship sequences are quite impressive. Another highlight is FreenBecky’s natural chemistry. Their on-screen dynamic is palpable and authentic. It helps carry the film through its weaker moments. They’ve got some serious acting chops! The way they embrace new challenges and step out of their comfort zone truly brings great results in the end.

Even though it didn't hit the mark, Uranus2324 is still a decent watch. It's a good effort overall, but if only it came with a bit more polish in the script and story pacing, it could easily become a standout sci-fi GL film.

freenbecky

here’s what i personally think. i think the story to this movie was actually amazing. the movie was good getting the main point across. freenbecky were great as always. the storyline jumped all over the place but that is the plot line with parallel universes. the english spoke didn’t flow very well and was still hard to understand from non-english speaking persons. i think the overall plot was good but the storyline could have been more set in stone with how the story was laid out, it made the movie feel sorta rushed. i think the ending also could have been better with a happier ending

It’s not that bad

I see a lot of people slamming it in the comments so that’s the only reason I’m leaving a review.

The saving grace of this movie is FreenBecky. their connection is unmatched in my opinion. All of the actors/actresses did well EXCEPT the astronauts. All of those scenes are painful to watch, but if you get through that it’ll be a solid/decent movie. Not the best but certainly not the worst.

one important note: if you are someone who likes movies or series with a very clear cut resolution, you may be disappointed. The ending was fuzzy to say the least.
