S-Line's Finale Did NOT Eat (✨and That's Okay✨)

The premise of the kdrama was strong, and I genuinely had fun and felt excited during the early episodes. However, I felt that the final episode, especially toward the end, veered into slightly silly territory. Certain plot points and scenes could have been addressed in a more effective manner. I'm not particularly fond of open endings, but at least the last scene provided a slight boost to the overall conclusion. In all honesty, the kdrama might have benefited from two additional episodes with a revised subplot to better explain the "s-lines".

Overall, it remains a fairly intriguing kdrama that serves as a good way to pass the time.

This has to be a prologue, right!? (please dont ruin it)

I know this kind of drama isn’t for everyone — it has a disturbing and fucked up story, so don’t watch it unless you’re mentally prepared.

(+) Positives
The concept is genuinely refreshing and stands out from typical dramas. It feels unique and interesting. The acting is solid, from the main cast to the supporting roles. The atmosphere really elevated by the music it gives me chills.

(–) Negatives
The storytelling is where it stumbles. There are a lot of plot holes, and episode 6, really feels rushed. The ending leaves you hanging , they tried to squeeze everything into just 6 episodes, but the story deserves much more episode. The foundation of the plot also feels weak. For example, what exactly is Gyujin? Is she a goddess or something else? The show never really explains it, which makes it so confusing. There's like a missing shot like the one when Ji uk with the knife but the scene just jumping in episode 6.

If you’re someone who reads manga or watches anime, this kind of plot might not even be that shocking. I've come across a way worse and more disturbing stories before.

The overall vibe is similar to Moving and A Shop for Killers, where Season 1 feels more like a long prologue for what’s to come in Season 2 (if it has season 2)

I just hope Season 2 doesn’t fumble the great concept and improves on the storytelling flaws this season.(again, if it has season 2)

"CONTAINS SPOILER" Started off incredible, ended in nonsense. Complete waste of potential

I started watching S Line thinking it was going to be a high-concept thriller about society’s obsession with secrets and sex. And for the first 5 episodes? It was. But then Episode 6 happened... and I’m still trying to process how we went from a sharp, disturbing social experiment to this metaphysical fever dream.

The show introduces us to Arin (Sin Hyeon Hop), a girl cursed from birth with the ability to see “S Lines”—bright red glowing cords linking people who’ve had sexual contact. It isolates her, traumatizes her, and builds this quiet horror around knowledge she never asked to have. Then come the glasses. Now everyone can see what she sees. And all hell breaks loose.

We follow cases of betrayal, guilt, and spiralling madness—spouses turning on each other, students breaking down, adults consumed by paranoia. Each episode feels like a short film: intense, tight, and thematically loaded. Detective Ji-Uk (Lee Soo Hyuk) acts as a grounding force at first, trying to connect the dots behind the glasses’ appearance and protect those affected. Their dynamic—Arin’s cursed detachment vs. Ji-Uk’s human empathy—is one of the strongest parts of the show.

But from the start, Ji-Uk had hundreds of red lines above his head, and the show never gives us a satisfying answer about them. Is it trauma? Was he a victim? Is he the key to the S-Line curse? We don’t know. Instead of addressing it, the story goes off the rails in the final episode.

In Ep 6, we suddenly shift into an alternate world, with Gyu-Jin (the eerie, omnipresent girl) practically turning into some godlike creator figure, deciding the world must "see the truth" through her crimson-tinted lens. She spreads the vision globally, turning her curse into humanity’s shared burden. Now everyone wears visors, helmets, and glasses to avoid seeing the red lines—essentially becoming what Arin was all her life: hidden, afraid, numb.

Ji-Uk’s arc, too, shatters here. He uncovers that his own father sexually abused the niece he’s been raising—an utterly horrifying reveal. But the emotional fallout gets shoved aside for a visually cool but narratively weak confrontation on a rooftop, where time and space collapse and Arin and Ji-Uk walk through multiple realities. Why? No real answer. Gyu-Jin turns almost mythic, but without any actual character development, it just feels… empty. Almost like the writers ran out of time or budget and decided vibes > logic.

What frustrates me most is the wasted potential.
They had everything—visual symbolism, moral ambiguity, layered characters—but chose spectacle over resolution. What was the origin of the glasses? Why did Arin’s mother kill herself? Why did Ji-Uk have so many lines? WHO EVEN IS GYU-JIN?!?

Verdict:
Watch it for the performances and the premise. But lower your expectations for closure. It’s brilliant until it’s baffling. And if Season 2 never comes, I’m just going to pretend Episode 5 was the finale.

THIS IS A PREQUEL

for everyone giving this a low rating u should know that Lee Soohyuk said that this is just a prequel explaining why everyone will be able to see the lines when the drama actually comes out so judging it based on that its a pretty good drama and that's why we don't have a clear answer on who or what is causing the s-lines or why Sin hyeonhop (A rin) was able to see them ever since she was born and stuff so wait til the drama is out before judging.
I really loved Lee Soohyuk character here like he's so hot

Drama with a lot of potential!

I was very hyped for Arin's next work and finally I could watch it. S Line is very unique and different from any other dramas released this year whereas it was nice to be entertained with a new thriller and unique mystery plot. In my opinion, the plot has a lot of potential to develop and I am open for the next episodes. By now I am not disappointed in any category, everything from the actors to the screenwriting seems perfectly fit for the plot and the drama's atmosphere.

Thank you Arin for your hard work in this drama so we could enjoy it! I hope my expectations will be exceeded in the next episodes.

S Line that brought us to curiosity yet ended up being a mess

imo instead of ugly or bad, this drama is more like being unique and interesting. homeroom teacher should be portrayed as an immortal entity instead of cult leader lmao. we definitely need a second season to explain more about hyunheup and homeroom teacher relationship, the world after s line chaos, there must be a lot of cases happened.

Great start with an unintentionally funny (derogatory) ending

S Line is going to be another show to fade into obscurity because of a disastrous finale. But before I talk about the good and the bad, I ought to warn you - this show has several triggers.
Depiction of self-harm, rape of a dying man, suggestion of gang rape and child sexual assault, school bullying and violence, to name some off the top of my head. Everyone has different tolerance levels so I would suggest to read about their depictions. There is also female nudity and depiction of sex.

What I liked:
The concept of S Line was quite unique and I was certainly intrigued. I went in blind so every revelation was a surprise including what S Line means. Nonetheless, the mystery was great (until it wasn't).
The characters were great and I enjoyed the introduction of the glasses and what it meant for each character. Although, most used it in a similar fashion.
A certain reveal in episode 5 was shocking but also exposed the realities of the world.
In episode 6, there is like a split dimension which was cool for a brief moment.
The opening theme song sets the perfectly dark mood for the show.
The actors did a decent job. I like Arin's character the most. Lee SooHyuk's was interesting too.

What I disliked:
Death of a certain character. The reason I dislike it is because they don't reveal if it was an accident or caused by something or someone else. I don't know how it drives the plot forward. Did they really need to be killed off? Bizarre.
My biggest gripe is with the 6th episode which let the entire series down. I don't have answers to (MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD LISTED AS POINTS):
- Who was Gyu Jin? And who is Hyeon Hop?
- Who were those people dressed like cult members?
- Why was another dimension created and why was Ji Uk a part of it? Were those people really killed?
- Where was Hyeon Hop's mother all this time?

So episode6 not only made me wonder what on Earth was happening but also laugh out loud at the way scenes were depicted. It felt like the episode was inspired from Dr. Strange and a bunch of sci-fi and cult films and not in a good way because things where all over the place! Post-reveal world was also quite silly. You can't expect things to be that calm.

Not only were the main characters involved not explained. We also didn't get any reason deeper than "because people want to know" which is quite lame. It ruined the whole show and makes you wonder if a follow up season could possibly fix this garbage ending.

Since it has 6 episodes, it can be watched provided you don't get too irritated by the ending. For a decent 5 episodes, I'm handing it a generous 7 star rating.

Lines That Bind: My Take on S-Line’s Dark Secrets

**********UPDATE BELOW************
I just started watching S-Line (up to episode 2), and wow, this show is already giving me all the mysterious vibes. The idea is wild—imagine red threads appearing above people that connect them to their past partners, and then everyone can see those lines with special glasses! The main girl, Hyun Heup, is the only one who can see these lines without any gadgets, which makes her stand out.

So, here are some thoughts I’ve been having: First, Gyu-Jin seems way too “clean” compared to everyone else...no visible lines at all. That got me thinking maybe she’s hiding something big, or maybe she’s behind the tech that makes the glasses. If she’s the one who created those glasses, maybe she has her own reasons...whether it’s to control others, get back at someone, or just see how people really are beneath the surface.

Also, there was this brief flash of a photo of Heup with a nun in episode 2, which made me wonder if they share a past like maybe Gyu-Jin and Heup grew up in the same orphanage or church. What if Gyu-Jin knew all along that Heup could see these lines naturally and reached out to her? That connection could explain a lot about why things are unfolding the way they are.

As for the glasses, I’m curious whether they’re just cool tech or if there’s something supernatural going on. Either way, I’m hooked.

I’m excited to see what happens next in episodes 3 and 4. The show is definitely one to watch if you like mystery mixed with some dark secrets. I’ll be back with more thoughts after I watch more!

***UPDATE***
1. SO I was right she's behind the glasses mechanism but why and how it wasn't clear? All she said is that it's her mission but still WHY??
2.Why was this thing created and how was it created? Were they the only people who could see the sline? And what's the common criteria that makes them that special? place of birth?Certain genetics?
3.Will there be a sn2 for clarity?

All I can say this feels incomplete and left viewers with more questions and not in a good way.

Good idea, but not well executed

The series had really good potential with an interesting plot, but the ending was poorly done.

The beginning was good, but then it started going downhill. It went from “we are solving a case” to “aliens”! It was as if the writer suddenly remember that the drama only was meant to be six episodes long and they needed to find a quick ending. So it became aliens and a cult? But what makes it worse is that it was the school teacher... Like what!

I think that if the drama had been longer, it could have built up a better plot twist and come up with a better ending. But all in all I wouldn't recommend it.
It's a waste of time.

Not as bad as everyone says

First of all - people need to understand what kind of story is the original webtoon. I found information about it - and it's some kind of anthology of short stories with one main theme - red lines above people's heads. No explanation how and why those lines appeared and why suddenly disappeared at the end of the webtoon. Just small personal stories of people whose life's become tragic and violent because of those lines. So, creators of this series tried to make one main storyline through the whole series and small personal stories of different people for each episode, except probably final.

And the first five episodes worked very well with this concept. Story is interesting, acting is good, although I don't understand why Lee Eun Saem considered as main cast, because 90% of her screen time is in the first two episodes. But nevertheless, for the first 5 episodes everything is fine( but you can see the main twist with one character very early).

But the final episode...I don't think it's bad, but it's completely different from the rest of the series. It's very psychedelic, and the mystic part of the series starts working on 200%. And the ending...too many questions left unanswered, and this some kind of open ending (without season 2) could've worked(barely), especially as prequel to original webtoon, but the final minute of the last episode makes it impossible.

And here's my point and why I rate this series with 7, despite strange ending - I really hope for season 2. You can't end series like this. Friendly Rivalry has open ending - it's bad, with many questions, but it works as series final. Ending of S-Line doesn't work. So I really hope for season 2 with some answers ( and preferrably good answers, because webtoon doesn't have them). But if this is really the end of the series, then the exact moment I'll hear the news about it, I'll return here and change the rating from 7 to 5.

absolutely pointless

there was no point to the story and the direction of the plot made close to no sense. why is anything happening and why does anyone gaf about who slept with whom. the cult-ish ending was meh. potential for a good plot but wasted. can lee soo hyuk change his agent? hes such a good actor this is a waste. there was a rape plot line that added nothing to the story overall too. a whole lot happening here but it leads to nil.

They build up the plot line so good, intriguing, with right amount of mystery, thrill and suspense but then gave it a disappointing ending like that like WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!?
It started off good, continued like so till ep 4-5 and then just straight up gave us some alien and paranormal showdown, without a good explanation or anything of sorts. It was SO MAJORLY DISAPPOINTING.
The moment I watched the first 2 eps, I knew either it's going to have an amazing ending, or it'll be majorly disappointing and nothing in between, guess it was the second unfortunately.
I'm only giving 6 because my favorite actor's there and he played his part well, well, till the 6th ep at least and because of the story build up. Trying it out and watching it can be a good experience, but I won't rewatch probably.
