Ended 2025 and started 2026 with a modern drama that will set the standards high.

I’m short of words to describe this masterpiece, the cast 10/10. Everyone came and cleared their individual roles, a well executed dynamic between unrequited love and finding love again. Nie xiguang moving from zhuang xu to Lin yusen just made something clear, if you’re not getting the love you deserve never ever blame yourself, you are special and you deserve love, to avoid ruining so many aspects of your life go for someone who treats you like you deserve, see love is shown as what it should be, a two way street. A give and take. Zhuang xu was looking for Santa in xiguang, which she wasn’t.
Career focus, this was highlighted so well, two people in love but still being able to flourish excellently in their individual career paths.
Family ties and relationships between parents and children.
Over all Gu man and the entire cast did their big thing here. I’m afraid it will be difficult for any modern drama to cross this threshold, but we will be expectant.

Mature love wins over misunderstandings.

I really enjoyed this romance story and the fact that it was so tightly bonded with workplace, money, success topics. It was also nice to see a rich x rich couple where they both had money and status from the beginning but it did not save them from having human lives, problems and experiences that helped them grow. Both main characters were really extraordinary, pretty people from the highest possible standing that met, fell in love and stayed true to themselves.

A really beautiful story that actually had a personal effect on me. The way the story shows growth and a difference between what a good relationship is versus bad was really well shown. The way the first man treated her, how she was authentically herself and later got scared and had to heal to come back to being her own loving self. It's very universal when you get a broken heart due to misunderstandings. This drama shows that mature love wins over misunderstandings and anxiety of unsure love.

I adored the way the ML was decisive and fought for the girl he wanted despite heavy burdens. Money, handsomeness and success are really nice but most women want the basics: a man who is 100% into them and will fight for the relationship because of his deep conviction. The ex - he didn't have that, he was unsure and made our FL really stressed out. It was clear for us watching but when you are in it...it's quite hard to notice. So here goes my personal advice: How to know you are in a good relationship? Trust your body. Trust your feelings. Trust your nervous system.

Absolutely lovely drama that gets 10/10 for me and has a huge potential for rewatches.

PS that last episode and the family scenes were so good! Especially the morning scene when they are taking their respective cars to their respective workplaces?! DREAMY!

now we're talking....

I like the story. The author deserves a recognition for this. And so with the scriptwriter , director and other crew members. They did a good job and needless to say their work should not be left unnoticed.

The ml's cold and calculating attitude towards the fl makes the story more interesting. For me, I was totally hooked and it makes me want to watch episode after episodes.

The opening song was wonderful! I love the lyrics and it touches something in me that I cannot fathom. Or maybe it brings calmness and peace.

BEST COUPLE OF CDRAMA 2025-2025

This is by far the best drama and best couple I've watched in CDrama. Other dramas are great but not well paired. My 1st to see Song Wei Long but got captivated by his relaxed & natural acting + his top tier visuals. He seem to be a humble actor too. I'm currently binge watching his other dramas. He's definitely and additional ML for me.

Jinmai is already an IDOL for me and she delivers any role she got. Simple yet so classy in every way, relaxed and not OAs. Her visuals are top tier to, no much enhanement w/c makes her more queenly in everway. I'm now tagging her as Chemistry Queen coz she has great chemistry w/ all his MLs. SWL i say is her best pair.

DRAMA, CAM ANGLES, CONVOS and Story
= 101% = it is a natural slow burn love story. Nothing's OA or weird on scrpts.
= I commend the camera team for great angles throughout the drama.
= Dress codes are also great not much flaunting but they all look great sp the couple.
OVERALL, It's a successful drama for me. Very much reccomendable. CONGRATS TO THE TEAM.

I LOVE IT! One of the best-produced C-dramas I’ve ever watched!

Zhao Jinmai (Maimai) and Song Weilong’s chemistry and visuals are chef’s kiss—they truly bring Nie Xiguang and Lin Yusen to life. Weilong’s frustration and yearning, so powerfully conveyed through his eyes, paired with Maimai’s beautifully delivered lines, make every scene feel incredibly real. For me, they are truly among the best actors, and I completely fell in love with them.

The story is captivating and engaging in every episode. Although it’s a slow-burn romance, the courting stage is portrayed so delicately and romantically that you barely even notice they haven’t had their first kiss yet—it’s that enchanting.

The soundtrack is perfectly placed in every scene, effortlessly enhancing the emotions. This has officially become my top 1 favorite C-drama 💕 Thank you, Gu Man, Maimai, Weilong, and the entire cast and crew for such a wonderful production

A Story of Youth, Love, and the One Who Stands Behind You

I know Song Weilong takes the spotlight starting from Episode 5 — and from there, it’s a full Gu Man story. You’re always caught between the white rose and the red rose. But deep down, who doesn’t want to choose the one who truly loves you and stands quietly behind you? Song Weilong’s portrayal of Lin Yusen is incredibly charming, and Maimai is more beautiful here than in any other series. Their relationship really resonates with me — it feels so real, so much like our own youthful experiences. This drama brings back the emotions of being young and in love.

A Very Well Directed Slowburn Pleasant RomCom

So, completed watching Shine On Me, and my first review here and what a drama to review. Its a very calm, composed, heart-warming simple rom-com dramas. There is no unnecessary breakup scenes or dramas here, just Male lead(ML) and Female Lead(FL) become each other's light. The rewatch value this drama is going to get in Winters and Holidays will be insane.
GUMAN has again hit it out of the park and for me this is her best adapted drama on the basis of both writing and production value wise. It is cleary visible as she was heavily involved in production of this drama from casting to screenwriting.

I dont want to spoil or write synopsis here as I think there is trailer out there for that. The story is simple, nothing new or rocket science, but the way its directed and presented is one of the best I have seen to come out from China. The screenplay is smooth, you just get engaged and attached with characters, you feel the blush, the laughs, the hatred and everything. There is no dull moment here. The characterisation is so good, the emotions and trauma of male lead whose dream gets shattered is beautifully written and directed and backstory of our FL is also brilliantly written. But, one criticism I have is the screen time of supporting actors like the ML's college friend and senior just gets lost in later half of the story, he should have been there and also FL's brother and her colleagues at office should have been explored more. The wedding scene though carries essence but it should have had happened in the presence of her friends and family. Also, where did Lin Yusen's mother go? She should have been there in in wedding. Thats a big blunder from Guman though

Coming to casting, well Guman has hit the bulls eye. Song Weilong and Zhao Jinmai are just perfect for the role, both are brilliant through out the series. Song Weilong has always been good actors, he is vibrant, has that swag, and calmness in his performance(Obviously, this man is so handsome with great physic). Zhao Jinmai, I just fell in love with her in this series, she looked so beautiful through out and acted so so beautifully. She should do more this genre of drama. Their chemsitry throughout was superb, felt like they were real couple. There has been criticism of Zhao Jinmai regarding performing kiss scenes, but they will get brilliant answers, WATCH OUT. Can't wait for this pair to reunite once again, not in idol drama but in historical one cause the hangout of this drama will last so long. All supporting cast did really well, Lai Wei Ming was good and really makes you hate him. Well written but standout personally for me is Jin Qiao Qiao and Fan Shiran.

OVERALL, ITS A BRILLIANT AND WELL WRITTEN DRAMA. No unncessary sub plots, just soothing and calm. 10/10 for me with minor hiccups on writing

As someone who has read the novel, the drama has exceeded my expectations. Amazing acting from Zhao Jinmai and Song Weilong. I was also impressed by their interpretations of the characters, bodily expressions and their chemistry. Well done to the team and the writers. Amazing drama and I will rewatch it.

Sweet romance between two actors I love: Song Wei Long and Zhao Jin Mai

PLOT: FL had a crush on a brilliant college student. Despite her rival (FL2 = mean girl), she confesses her feelings and is rejected. After graduating, she goes to work at a photovoltaic company, where ML (Li Yu Sen) becomes the deputy director. After a rocky start and a few flings, they finally make peace and become a couple (a strong, trusting couple, capable of overcoming past hurts). The competition (economic and familial) is fierce.
[University period: Eps. 1-4]
[Working together: Eps. 4-36]
[Courting the FL: Ep. 13]
[In a relationship: Ep. 24]

+++ CL with Song Wei Long and Zhao Jin Mai, delightful, magical. The ML is a Green Forest (ღ˘⌣˘ღ) (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)
+++ The entire cast is talented and brings complex but well-developed characters to life. The mother characters (both the ML and FL ones) are excellent.
+++ Coherent story, psychologically realistic (which is rare).
+++ Effective, well-executed direction (sets, costumes, lighting, framing, etc.) with a satisfying ending.

### You have to be patient because the FL (and all the characters in this series) remains focused on ML2 for a long time (much less beautiful than the ML) but above all, UNBEARABLE!!
### A touch of Chinese patriotism/nationalism, regarding technological advancements and the challenges of competing in a fierce global market (taxes, product defamation, etc.).

=> Excellent series, truly, thanks to a well-written story and fantastic CL. I'll rewatch it in a while :)

Love, Simply and Beautifully Told

Shine On Me is a drama that feels remarkably precise in its execution. The storytelling is focused and efficient, with a brisk pace that avoids unnecessary detours. Conflicts are introduced clearly and resolved decisively, keeping the narrative momentum intact rather than dragging it out for artificial tension.

The background music is especially well-placed, enhancing the emotional texture of key scenes without overwhelming them. It adds depth and appeal, helping shape the atmosphere and emotional beats naturally.

Overall, the drama plays almost like a curated highlight reel of Nie Xiguang and Lin Yusen’s relationship—capturing the essential moments of how they fall in love with clarity and intention. It’s a tightly constructed romance that knows exactly what story it wants to tell and respects the audience’s time in telling it.

slow-burn relationship! sweet and cute romance

Amazing, smoothly developing romance!
Although the plot about work is boring, the impressions and emotions I received from the main couple surpass everything!
Nie XiGuang is an incredibly strong character, having given a lot of resistance, and always remained sincere and honest with herself and others.
An incredibly cute and loving couple came out of the main characters! Although they dragged out their relationship for a long time, there was no rush, and they slowly fell in love. There was a lot of romance at the end of the drama!
The college friend that Nie XiGuang was in love with was too annoying . She didn't do anything, just showed her feelings, and she didn't even try to get closer to him, but he blamed her for absolutely everything. Because of his feeling of inferiority, he played with her feelings and then begged her to love him again. His behavior was a complete shame!
I felt sorry for YuSen, he put so much effort into medicine, but the accident forced him to leave his favorite job. I really liked that he eventually returned to his favorite field.
Wei Long is a new discovery for me and I'm looking forward to his next project because his acting is really good. Jin Mai is insanely beautiful and she fits the role perfectly. The actors are perfectly cast.
I highly recommend this drama to anyone who enjoys slow-burn relationships and office dramas.

I stayed for Jinmai

This is good watch overall specially for fans of idol romance drama. The plot is not too complicated and likeable female and male lead character.

gentle chide:

- swl acting. sadly he did not match zjm acting level
- other cast mates acting also. but kudos to zhuang xu’s actor he did his best. hope he will improve in his future works

- scene being badly cut
- bad cgi and editing
- so many plot holes and details ignored
- 36 episodes felt too long for the plot
