if you're not a fan of slow burn romance I wont suggest it
okay WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED. This was so damn cute omg? cant understand the low rating?? like this should have atleast 8.5?? I personally loved the fl and ml chemistry can't talk about the second couple because I found them boring and skipped their love story but the chemistry of the main leads is so good!! I thought this will be a drama like "I can fix him" like this was one of those dramas but in a positive way. this deserves more popularity ngl, personally I don't like that mother - loving daughter scenes but overall the drama was very cute! must watch!!Was this review helpful to you?
Best Ever
The best drama of 2024, the ML/FL and all the other actors were flawless. Shen Yue, as expected, was exceptional and natural, while Lin Yin performed his role perfectly as well. Kudos to the entire team. I'm obsessed with this drama and not ashamed to admit that I've watched it multiple times—over 20, to be precise. OBSESSED! It's a shame that people in China fail to recognise good acting and talent in comparison to other dramas that have won network awards. FYI, awards are not that important; what truly matters is when viewers around the world appreciate the demand and watch each episode without skipping. I can't say the same about the other dramas I watch, which I've skipped from the very first episode.Overall, it’s 100% the best modern drama I've seen in years. 🥰🥰🥰

A Perfect Blend of Chemistry and Charm
As a fan of Shen Yue, it’s impossible not to admire her endearing portrayal of GU YI in Smile Code. Shen Yue once again shines with her natural charisma and effortless beauty and ability to connect with her co-stars, making her character relatable and unforgettable. The dynamic between Shen Yue and the Lin Yi is what makes the series adorable. Their on-screen chemistry feels genuine, with moments of lighthearted banter balanced perfectly with deeper, heartfelt scenes. It’s the kind of pairing that draws viewers in, leaving us rooting for their relationship to overcome every obstacle. This also leaves the audience rooting for them as real life couple, despite the height gap, they perfectly looked so matched.
Meanwhile, Shen Yue’s interactions with all casts are equally compelling, showcasing her versatility in portraying emotions ranging from tension to playful camaraderie. This story is crafted with sensitivity, leaving audiences deeply invested. Indeed, there’s always a Shen Yue effect to every episode.
I watched the series 3 times to be honest in full and the last 4 episodes many times. This is now my comfort series and I am one of the eager fans for a Smile Code Season 2. Shen Yue’s stellar performance, paired with the outstanding synergy with all the stars , makes the series a must-watch and fuels the demand for its continuation.
CONGRATULATIONS for delivering an excellent piece, SMILE CODE!

A Must Watch - Unique Story
The characters and story in this piece are exceptionally well-crafted, truly showcasing the depth of human experience. Each character is portrayed with such authenticity, and their journeys reflect the complexities of life, work, family, and love as they navigate and influence the world around them. There are particularly poignant scenes where the main character meets with his psychiatrist, offering not just healing for him, but also resonating deeply with the audience if they are open to it. The development of the characters is incredibly moving, especially in the later episodes, as they learn to understand and support each other through their struggles. I wholeheartedly recommend this drama—it's a beautifully woven narrative that I cherish. Was this review helpful to you?
A buffet of emotions
This is not your typical romcom story. It has substance and it tackles a lot of different aspects of young adult life. The good, the bad, and the in between. It dealt with modern relationships. The working life of a typical adult where there are competitions and disappointments. The trauma from the past that affects the current you. Losing a family and navigating through life and loss. The friendships made. And again the importance of support system from a lover and friends.
I’ve seen a lot of people hating it because it’s not “fun” unlike the other romcom stories, but to me this is fun, it is great. The actors are great. The cinematography is great. The OST is great. What more can you ask for? (Anyway, I’d just like to say that the comedian Gu Yi has the humor based on their culture so not all people may like it)
Not gonna lie, if this made it to Netflix for sure this will be a big hit because people like a young adult like me would love to see someone like Gu Yi who is brave to love and who face her life positively amidst challenges. And there’s also Liang Daiwen who is strong enough to face life through his mental illness and his willingness to improve for himself and Gu Yi.
I really wish for this to be put on a wider streaming platform so a lot of people will be able to see this. It’s a pity because it deserves more praise.
One last thing, some people find it not good that this took 34 episodes. But I think this is enough to fully convey the story. There is the beginning to introduce the atmosphere and the plot. The middle where it has those problems arising between them. The redemption arc. The family arc. The final arc where they fully accepted themselves. I think people should give this more credit. They didn’t half assed the story where they just suddenly lived happily ever after.
Well this has been long. All in all, I love it. It’s a mixed of romance, fun, and reality. I’ll watch it again - definitely. :)

Super Cute Drama!!!
This drama is a breath of fresh air. Ever since watching Till the end of the Moon. I have not watched any other Chinese drama since it’s always been the same generic theme. However when I decided to give “Smile Code” a try I got hooked. I loved the concept and storyline about a male figure not being able to express any feelings to love another person. I have to admit the drama started slow and I basically skimmed through scenes about the company but whenever Shenyue and Lin Yi appeared on screen I find them so natural and adorable with one being so happy and bubbly person which resonates to Shen Yue personality in real life and Lin Yi haha, I always pictured him as a cool and collected person who no reactions to anything and this fits him haha. And for him to making jokes with a straight poker face. I can’t haha, one minute he compliments and treats the female lead with care, next minute he says something that sounds offensive 😆. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry seeing Lin Yi 😆 I can’t wait for upcoming scenes where he rejects her and he start to really have feelings and don’t want to lose her. Not looking foreword for the main lead female boss. Not liking her too much. She’s so passive aggressive to my female lead. But our FL is strong, she has so many people backing up and supporting her (SML, ML, ML friend). Can’t wait to see what the rest of the episodes will bring us!! Can’t wait for our ML to make his move once he rejects and pushes her away, he’s going to work really hard to win her backWas this review helpful to you?
i dropped it
The only reason I didn't watch this drama is because of the second lead. I can't stand seeing him sad when the main lead and female lead end up together. No matter what, I always end up liking the second lead more than the main lead. I don't know why they always give the second lead such a complicated and sad side story. I just hate love triangles.I don’t know, I was going to rewatch this until episode 20, but after that, I’m just not giving it any more of my time. I’ve watched so many C-dramas and K-dramas, and it’s the same formula over and over for C-dramas—if it’s a long story with 24+ episodes, you already know what’s coming. They start falling in love from episodes 10 to 15, then confess by 17 or 18, show all this lovey-dovey, low-key romance, then bam, they suddenly break up in episodes 20 to 21. Then, of course, they get back together, and the melodrama with both families drags on. I’m just so used to this predictable pattern that it doesn’t even catch my attention anymore. At first, the drama was great—chemistry was on point, both leads were nice—but once the story shifted toward the second lead, I dropped it. I just can’t deal with another love triangle. Honestly, the only modern cdramas I’ve liked after 2020 are ones like Lighter and Princess, Hidden Love, When I Fly Towards You, Only for Love, Gen Z, Falling Into Your Smile, Parallel Love (it wasn’t that bad), You Are My Glory, Unforgettable Love, and others like them—simple, neat storylines with no complications. That’s why I enjoy historical or fantasy dramas from China more; they don’t drag through the same tired love triangle and melodrama crap.

Believe it or not, I loved every single minute of it.
Even though I am a big fan of Shen Yue (to be perfectly honest, she is the only Chinese actress I'm fan of), I'm writing my honest review. My all-time favorite cdramas are A Love So Beautiful and Go Ahead. This drama is now added to the list. Such a wonderful story besides the acting, cinematography, and soundtracks. People think this drama is just a rom-com, but let me tell you it is not just that. It's about healing, loving someone no matter what, family relationships, friendships, and more. This drama made me feel all kinds of emotions. Now, I just don't know how I'm going to move on from this. I'm actually planning on binge-watching it again in a couple of weeks. For those who are asking whether they should watch this or whether this is a good drama, I recommend watching it first, then deciding whether to continue or not.Was this review helpful to you?
The Pairing we don't expect with awesome chemistry!!!!
Shen Yue and Lin Yi—they really do bring such an irresistible charm to their projects together! Their real-life friendship definitely shines through on-screen, making their chemistry even more natural and heart warming.Shen Yue’s long hair is a stunning look for her and it truly highlights her beauty in this drama. Her Count Your Lucky Stars wardrobe definitely gave her a more polished and dynamic vibe. Hopefully, her stylist gave her a fresh fashion makeover in future projects.
Smile Code is so rewatchable. Shen Yue and Lin Yi have such a unique ability to make us all root for their characters. I'm really hooked!

RECOMMEND C DRAMA 2024
one of the most awaited dramas for me, because the players are my favorite actors and they are friends in real life, it's very sweet.after watching several episodes I fell more and more in love with Lin Yi, he always learns to take on different roles from previous dramas.
I think this is the sweetest couple I met in a cdrama, Gu Yi looks very good as Liang Dai Wen, and I like this kind of cool role, adding to his good looks many times
