SMILE CODE
You have to see this drama, this drama is really a different side of Lin Yi and Shenyue, they play well, their chemistry can't be doubted, they are very cute playing this role, Linyi also looks very good in this drama even though he is" Sick". starting from the OST which is really catchy to the ears, the cinematography is cool, I like itWas this review helpful to you?

OST & Cinematography is on point.
OST is very catchy which is a plus for me knowing it can add hype on every drama. I am a kdrama OST junkie and I seldom like any cdrama OST but this one is great especially the english one. Cinematography is sooo good you can see every small detail on the location set-up. So far so good. I hope it will get better on the upcoming episode especially the climax part.Shen Yue & Lin Yi are so cute even though the height difference is too much. Height diff in every drama can add on the chemistry so there is no problem.

Is the new Chinese drama ‘Smile Code’ an incredible drama to watch? Yes!
Smile Code will appeal to most all Asian Drama Lovers. Let me begin by saying that the OST for the Chinese drama Smile Code is beyond the bomb! As a habit, I don’t watch opening or closing credits for Chinese dramas. The clipped videos just give away too many drama secrets. For Smile Code, you are compelled to watch the opening and closing credits for this Chinese drama, because there are two incredible songs which pull you out of your seats to dance. And it never gets old listening to the opening song Make Me Wanna by Teloupe and the closing tune It’s You by Stringer. The song It’s You is right out of Taylor Swift’s playbook, without being a copy. The music in between is just as good. Boy are Chinese dramas catching up with and in some cases surpassing Korean Dramas at present.Quote: “Laughter is the painkiller for life lived.”
This Is The Story.
Smile Code has heavy hitter actors, FL Shen Yue (Meteor Garden) playing Gu Yi, who is a Stand-Up Comic. ML Lin Yi (Put Your Head On My Shoulders) playing Liang Dai Wen, is an Accessibility Designer.
It becomes “love at first sight” for Gu Yi when she sees 6’2” Liang Dai Wen walk into the comedy show, and he sits down to listen to her comedy set. Gu Yi is left with her mouth dropped open. I feel you girl. However, Liang Dai Wen sits there through the whole set and does not even crack smile. He has picked up the nickname “The Comedy Assassin”, because no joke seems to phase him. Liang Dai Wen has Alexithymia. He cannot display or feel emotions. When it comes to emotions Alexithymia sufferers have a blank mind. This character is an interesting start for a Romantic Comedy character. Liang Dai Wen may not be smiling, but I had a permanent smile on my face.
Smile Code is an artsy drama. The format for the drama is different from usual Chinese dramas I have seen. This drama has the charm of the Chinese drama Hidden Love. With youthful style and fun energy, it is like being on a fantasy date.
Quote: Female Lead to our Comedy Assassin: “If you go through a security check, you would be detained”.
The FL Gu Yi is the gagster and Liang Dai Wen is the straight guy. She is young and flirtatious and he is buried under a pile of medical terms, having so many maladies. Both Chinese actors have perfect comedic timing. They are bouncing off of each other in perfect harmony.
Lin Yi is all legs
Shen Yi still is the face of innocence.

It get's better and better
I didnt expect much but gosh this is so good and it exceeded my expectation. I love this series for Shen Yue and LinYi. Thanks to them for accepting this role. They are portraying the roles so good and so far I can see their growth in acting through this series. Thankful that I've seen these two early works and now I can't get enough of them. Also director Chen really did a good job in directing. I really think that this episodes (seven and eight) is part of the pivotal moment for the two of them. People need to keep watching as it get's better every episode. Was this review helpful to you?
Realistic and not over the top acting. The leads and side characters are amazing at their roles.
First, i cannot get over the chemistry of the leads. I read they are close friends but that does not stop me from starting to ship them lol. I'm in for the ride. Will edit this review once i get to watch all episodes. But i really love what I'm seeing and it's definitely recommended. The pacing is just right, I'm so excited to see more. Was this review helpful to you?
Forced to buy VIP of Tencent - HD Cinematography!!
This is not your usual modern drama. Most of watchers used to watch very bright and filtered setting to add the impact on love story of ML & FL.Other might confuse on this drama as dark or suspense rather than romance. Please keep in your mind that this is more of a healing drama with a bit of comedy. Dark setting is needed due to trauma of ML. Gu Yi (Shen Yue) is the one who gives light on her leading man. You can really observe the depth of the story based on the detail of location - hats off to the director.
I’m just a bit confuse on the poster because it is so bright.

Best one of 2024
The drama starts at a slow pace but gradually grips the viewer's interest. The male character's acting made the initial episodes seem dull, though it wasn’t his fault—he was playing a role that required him to portray a character struggling with emotions. Some of his scenes felt repetitive, but I promise, the overall experience was worth watching. The acting was phenomenal, and the music was equally captivating. I particularly admired the female lead's mother. The way she hid her illness and spent her final days with her daughter without revealing her secret was deeply moving. She held back her emotions, made all necessary arrangements for her daughter’s future, and only revealed the truth at the very end. This allowed her daughter to grow stronger and accept the harsh reality that death is inevitable.
I also enjoyed the subplot involving the other pair's love story. Though it was brief, the male character's decision to take things slowly to avoid repeating past mistakes was admirable. His approach gave their relationship time to develop, which felt realistic and heartfelt.
However, two or three episodes were undeniably boring. That said, I would still recommend this drama to those who enjoy soft, emotional storytelling and are willing to be patient with its pacing.

My Smile Code Review
This is my review of the series. The plot is really interesting, but I feel it wasn’t executed well, though it’s still entertaining. I really love the friendship between Yu Dule and Gu Yi—he’s so protective of her. The arc of Gu Yi’s mom is just so painful. As for the acting, all the actors did really well, but Shen Yue stands out in this drama. Her presence on screen is commanding, and she has improved so much. The cinematography is top-notch; it honestly feels like I'm not watching a Chinese drama—it’s just so good! The music and OST fit so well with the scenes, and I just love it.
I would rate it 8.5/10. It's recommendable, but I doubt you’d want to watch it again because it’s quite long.

Best Modern Cdrama of 2024
I've been a fan of Shen Yue since A Love So Beautiful and have been watching all of her dramas and variety shows. I could say that this is my new favorite drama of hers. Shen Yue is already a good actress before, but she's even better in this drama. Director Randy Che made it even better with his amazing cinematography, emphasizing Shen' Yue's crying scene with the cinematic effects. Was this review helpful to you?
