Exceptional
No irrelevant dialogues, everything is approriate and satisfying.So, we have two beautiful, but sadly, bitter souls. One of them has lost the desire to carry on, is disgusted by himself, thinking that he isn't worth of anything. The other one, as the Angel mentioned, "desperately wanted to be loved". Kamisama isn't that lousy actually: those souls needed each other so bad, and it's so doleful that thay didn't meet each other in some other way. From the beginning it was salient that Angel was to disappear sooner or later, but he had a mission to accomplish before that. Angel himself was wrongly accused and that led him to suicide, but he got one last chance to be loved and give another person a reason to go on. I'm not intented to dive too deep, I just don't know any other way to say that I truly liked the show.
For me, the part when they were laughing is so notable, because it was funny and sorrowful simultaneously. Koki means someone who has a lot of friends, but actually he was lonely. Takashina is someone who strives for heaven but fell down in reality. Indeed, it's meaningless to put so much hope into a name. People make each other happy, and those souls had their happy ending, which doesn't seem to be the way we always see it.
JBLs never disappoint. This was a short, yet beautiful journey!

A Heartbreaking and Bittersweet Story
This series gives us two engaging story lines. It is not really a love story as much as it is a story of people looking for love and acceptance and learning to love and accept themselves. This is story of forgiveness of others and for yourself.All of the actors are impeccably cast. The writing is natural and understated, never descending into forced melodrama. The sets and locations are believable. The OST suits the theme and is not intrusive. The director got this one right.
People always want to know if series have happy endings, wanting to get there without experiencing the journey. I will say this ~ there is a satisfactory ending but not in a way one might wish.
The ending was realistic and what the viewer might expect ... Until ... Well I don't want to spoil it for you. It's a short pleasant watch ... So watch it yourself.

Sad but beautiful
I really enjoyed this show so much because it has both happy and emotional emotions. Also I’ve never read the manga version of One Room Angel, but by how the plot went I know it’s a really good manga and I also felt like it was also giving manga vibes. I always say that it’s nice seeing new plots for example a man and an angel whose lives are somehow intertwined. Some people may not like the idea of an angel and a man being together, but this show proved that they need to be together. For example the way the story went the angel was there to help Koki not feel sad anymore and it was his job to keep him happy, and he did, the angel made Koki laugh and smile which he hasn’t done in a while and also made him feel seen when Koki lives his life feeling like he’s never seen and is invisible. Also I almost cried when the angel ran away and felt what it was like to be invisible again and it was so sad because all he wanted was to be seen again. Also hearing how the angel died was so depressing because he never remembered how it went until he figured out why they were supposed to meet again because their incidents both happened on the same day. Also I really liked that scene where Koki was gonna help the angel fly but he couldn’t, but Koki carried him though and it showed how tiny he is and he was so adorable. At the ending it showed that both of them needed each other when the angel ascended to heaven after he was finally happy while being with Koki which made me so sad because then Koki would be back to being lonely and sad, but that wasn’t the case, because Koki finally knew how to live life after being with the angel. I enjoyed every second of this drama and I really recommend this one.Was this review helpful to you?
Fluff, Angst, sometimes comedic
One Room Angel was a pleasant surprise of a show for me as I wasn't expecting the story to go where it did. I enjoyed the development of the story and the emotional bond of the lead characters forged from it. Very different from a normal BL series, but also very welcome. There's a lot of moments of fluff and light-heartedness as well as a fair share of angst and gloom in One Room Angel which gives the show its charm. I'd highly recommend this show for all kinds of BL watchers as it touches into a lot of genre's in my opinion with it's dichotomy of themes.Was this review helpful to you?
A tearjerker platonic relationship between two broken people who found each other
Highly recommended (TW: Adult-minor but it's rather a platonic relationship, suicide, bullying, violence)Before the show started, I already read the manga to understand the story better. But to be honest, this is a perfect adaptation of the drama as they made suitable adjustments (Angel's age and A-kun's arc) while keeping the quintessense of the manga. I bawled my eyes out when watching the drama. I cried even more than when reading the manga. It's this year's number 1 tearjerker and I consider this one a sibling of Eternal Yesterday.
The show has perfect directing. They also cast the right actors for each role. The Angel's actor looks like a real angel with that baby face and innocent smile while the Kouki's actor is excellent. Their acting excellently conveyed the heartbreaking story and made me bawl my eyes even though I already know what's coming. The theme songs (OP & ED) are also on point. Please check the Eternal MV of ED song on Youtube. It's another peak and Shuhei is also cast in that MV too.

If you watch this BL expecting explicit scenes, you'll be left wanting. I'm assuming the cause for the rating is due to the self harm in the storyline, because there's definitely not any nudity or truly intimate scenes. That being said, you don't get a feeling that anything is missing in that regard. While the ending does leave you a bit unsatisfied, the majority of the story is well done.Was this review helpful to you?

disarming and perfect but definitely not your typical bl
I had no idea what to expect going in which is ideal I think unless you expect all bls to follow a certain arcas someone who has and still does live with depression and mental health issues this was an incredibly impactful story about how it feels to overcome your own demons
there was also tremendous moments of levity and humour which sold me from the jump. i loved both characters and the execution of the angel was so well done

in the end the fact that he was responsible for his own happiness was so profound and beautiful to me. sometimes we need that outside source to tell us what we already know and motivate us to change. and the fact that be created that for himself in this very real and sassy angel character is just . i don't really have the words, it's masterful storytelling honestly
I haven't yet rewatched it but I know l'll come back to this again bc it has all the melancholy realness of life but ultimately ends happily and reminds us that there's always hope
it might not be for everyone but i really encourage everyone to understand the meaning and care less about their expectations

Depression & bullying
People like to believe that this is a BL. No it is not really. It is a slice of life, fantasy drama with characters who may or may not be gay...it is not really clear.The story follows two broken idividuals. Koki is alone, friendless, inert and depressed, surviving and not living. The main cause of his unhappiness is his brother, lost to yakuzas because of him. One day an amnesiac angel moves in with him. Spending time with the angel and helping him, as if he is finally helping his own lost brother, makes Koki see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Every time there is a teen in a drama, there is also a bullying subplot. Though not only! There is homophobia as well! And of course the nefarious influence of the internet anonymity. The angel, a teen before becoming one, was pushed over the limit of endurance and gave up the fight. Spending time with Koki, basking in the kindness even Koki was not aware of having, the angel comes to terms with his passing and is finally happy.
I did not really like it very much. Mostly because Koki's character hits too close to home but also because of the bullying plot. I am really bored with dramas about it. Don't get me wrong, it is a hugely serious issue that needs to be deals with on ground, in schools and on the internet.
The actors were all excellent. The actress playing the mother looks so young: I thought she was the sister. Especially since the actor playing her 30 yr old son looks much older than her. He is also depressed and unkempt which does not help him look his real age....The production correct, though the angel wings looked uncomfortable and extremely fake (the limits of the budget, I guess!). The ending starts as rather optimistic since Koki had decided to sort his life out but apparently they quickly meet each other so I'm guessing Koki dies(he probably forgot to put the brakes on in his white van!) and they meet again in heaven.
The only thing this drama has going for it is the cute angel and the short length;

There’s no room left to cry
I knew this drama was going to wreck me, and honestly, this is exactly my cup of tea. I love emotional, tragic dramas filled with warmth, comfort, and quiet romance. Why did I only decide to watch this in 2026? I seriously missed out on one of the most beautiful masterpieces of 2023.One Room Angel is filled with powerful metaphors and tells a deeply moving story about love, healing, and finding someone who gives you the strength to live life to the fullest again.
I actually rediscovered this gem because of its ending theme song by Sano Ibuki. The song is overflowing with emotion, just like the drama itself. Every episode perfectly balances calmness, humor, and melancholy, creating an atmosphere that feels both comforting and heartbreaking. I loved every single moment of it. And yes, the cast is incredibly handsome. I honestly spent the whole series wishing they would kiss.
Kouki is such a heartbreaking protagonist. His entire journey is painfully tragic. After nearly dying from a stabbing, he’s given a second chance at life. When he returns home, he meets an Angel who slowly becomes his source of comfort and the place he can truly call home. Ironically, this Angel is rude, sarcastic, funny, and constantly complaining, making it impossible for the kind-hearted Kouki not to grow attached to him.
There are many interpretations regarding the Angel’s true identity. At first, it almost feels as though he could simply be Kouki’s imaginary friend, a delusion born from his overwhelming loneliness. But as the story unfolds, we learn that the Angel was actually a student who took his own life on the very night Kouki was stabbed. Crushed by guilt, bullying, and the complicated feelings surrounding a classmate who both tormented and secretly loved him, his story becomes just as devastating as Kouki’s.
While watching this series, I suddenly realized something. I think I’d be okay if I had an imaginary friend or an Angel, that only I could see, someone I could tell everything to. Loneliness can slowly consume a person, and carrying every emotion by yourself is truly exhausting. That’s why Kouki’s loneliness felt so painfully real throughout the entire story.
One line completely shattered me:
“Since this guy came, I no longer think I want to die. On the contrary, it’s the opposite.”
Hearing Kouki say those words while hugging the Angel was absolutely heartbreaking. The Angel became the person who finally said everything Kouki had longed to hear his entire life.
As expected, the ending left me in tears. It was unbelievably beautiful. The Angel was finally able to fly, leaving Kouki behind. But the love, comfort, and memories they shared remained with him forever. The scene where Kouki’s mother finds a single feather and Kouki suddenly breaks down crying completely destroyed me. He later turns that feather into a beautiful necklace before saying goodbye to the tiny apartment where he met the love of his life.
Kouki, who had once lost all hope in living, finally learns to embrace life again with gratitude and hope because of the brief but life-changing encounter he shared with the Angel. It reminded him that life isn’t so bad after all.
I’m still tearing up while writing this review. One Room Angel is truly a beautiful masterpiece.

This show is so perfect!
While I'm on the side of this not being a BL (because no romance happened, no one specified their sexuality in the first place) I think this was such a beautiful, heartbreaking, & heartwarming show with bits of humor throughout. The MC did love the angel, but it never came across more than platonic. It was almost like a protector or brotherly love, especially considering the MC is in his 30s and the angel was a school boy. But I digress. This show was the easiest 10 I've ever given.Learning the angel's story, him finally being loved by someone, and our MC learning to overcome hardship and love himself. 10000/10.
