The acting and the actors were really good, the dynamic and the chemistry between the male leads was just perfect, the way they delivered every scene deeply and sincerely, will make you feel every emotion, laugh, cry and longing.
My only critic is that this series had potential to be a masterpiece, but the plot seemed silly some time (the action/crime part) but believe me the drama/romance was a 10/10 , still I really enjoyed watching this.

IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST SERIES I'VE EVER WATCHED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.

I love my YinWar so muchhh!

First time watching them act and tbh it was chef kiss (🤯). I love their chemistry and the height difference, I really like it that both of thrm can fight and have a semi-healthy relationship with them (referring to what they are doing in the first episodes hehe 😇).

I love their enemies to lovers vibes, esoecially their scripts in the first episode like everything is too unexpected. Though I got spoiled from TikTok (my fault) but it still made me cry, especially in the special episode.

I hope they create more series like this, and also the 1hr per episode was too good to be true. Thank you for feeding my fantasy HAHAHHAHAHAA. Planning to watch the love mechanics (but it may hurt my heart too much huhu).

It’s okay…I guess?

Thanks to this series, I got to know War. Honestly, if it weren’t for him, I probably would’ve rated it lower.

Let’s start with the acting.
The one who stand out the most, no doubt, is War. It’s my first time watching him and he’s very impressive. His acting range is incredibly strong, He can portray the craziest character to the most beautiful one. Truly a great actors. Especially in the emotional scenes. He doesn’t just cry but he makes you feel the weight of the moment. His ability to act with just his eyes is something else. I’d give him a full 10/10 for acting.

As for Yin, he was okay. Not bad. He did his job well, but he didn’t really leave a deep impression on me. I can also give him 10 point too but as I said, it’s just that there’s really no scene that impressed me to the point of feeling speechless. So…9.5 maybe?

The supporting cast, though… honestly, the acting quality drops a bit. Some scenes felt flat, and certain lines didn’t land well. And as someone who understands Thai, I have to say that a few lines deliveries felt quite awkward so I’d give the supporting casts a 7/10 at most.

Now, for the story and writing.
To be honest, it’s not bad at all, but also not something I’d call brilliant. The heist plot felt kind of basic, nothing really mind blowing in terms of planning or twists. I kept waiting for a moment where Joker would show some true mastermind level brilliance, but it never really came. What did save those scenes was War’s performance, the way he portrayed the character made it feel like Joker had layers, even when the writing didn’t provide it.

I also found the whole human chess game a bit…umm mid? I guess. I just couldn’t get into it emotionally as it didn’t feel compelling, and I wasn’t invested in them at all. But that might be more of a personal taste thing as the plot is very unique, it can be written better though.

Also, I really didn’t agree with how Joker’s home situation was portrayed, especially with how his father treated him. The constant comparisons to his brother, the harsh words, the emotional neglect. I’m sorry, but he doesn’t deserve Joker’s forgiveness at all. That storyline didn’t sit right with me.

That said, I do want to give credit where it’s due, the social commentary in the script was nicely done. It wasn’t overly forced, and it actually added some substance to the narrative.

The romance plot is very mild (and I like this kind of vibes more than the romance one), still, it shows how Joke love Jack very well. But the thing is, for me the love level between them doesn’t match, there’s many actions of Jack that I understand but also don’t understand at the same time. And it gives the feeling that Joker love Jack more than Jack love him. Bug that maybe because their background is different, so it’s understandable, and their love was clearly show in the special episode too. So it’s quite good.

Overall, I’d give the writing a 7/10.

Now, production and music.
This is where I can wholeheartedly complement the team. The color grading is beautiful, the cinematography is excellent, and the overall visual tone of the series worked out well. I loved how the scenes were framed. The music also sounds good, it fit the mood without being overbearing. 10/10 for production.

Final thoughts:
Jack & Joker had so much potential, and while the writing didn’t always hit the mark, the visuals and especially War’s performance made it worth watching.

If I were to rate this series based on War’s performance alone, I’d give it 10/10 with no hesitation. But taking everything into account, I’d say it’s more of an 8/10. However, because I truly loved War’s acting here so much and I may rewatch this series for him, I just couldn’t give it anything less than a 9. So…yeah 9/10 it is.

Amor & Perigo

I saw the Jack and Joker trailer before but didn’t really get interested at the time. I binge-watch a lot of BL series daily, and since I was running out of shows to watch, I gave it a shot just to kill the time, haha! But honestly, it didn’t disappoint at all.

This series is a total package: drama, humor, romance, action, you name it. I was hooked, and there was never a dull moment. I also loved the visuals and the OST. And of course, YinWar’s chemistry? Absolutely top-notch as always.

One thing that did bug me a little was how Joker was introduced as this talented thief who steals from corrupt elites and gives back to the villagers. Sounds cool, right? But they barely showed that side of him. There was only one scene where he actually stole something, and then… nothing. I wish they had explored that storyline more.

As for the supporting characters, my favorite has to be Aran. At first, he came off as spoiled, but he grew on me fast. Total diva energy, but in a fun way! It’s just a bit sad that his relationship with Tattoo didn’t get more development, they had such good chemistry too.

I have watched the Jack and Joker Special too. The ending is definitely open. It might seem like Joker died, but if you stick around after the credits, there’s a surprise scene, he’s alive, lying under a mosquito net and waking up with a startled look when he sees someone. So yeah… could be a setup for season 2. Fingers crossed!

Hits Right in the Feels

This drama has a special place in my heart and will continue to do so.

I have so many emotions and thoughts about this drama. There's so much to say but I can't get them out.

As soon, as I started this drama, it captured me. Usually, I am a person that skips at scenes but with this drama I didn't. I stayed with each scene taking in everything and it's details. Jack and Joker, those characters touched my soul so deeply. Win and War did such a great job with portraying these characters and I can't applaud them enough for their acting because there were so many times when I forgot they were acting. It all felt so genuine all the emotions that the characters displayed. I am always in awe of actors for what they do. This drama made me feel so many emotions and I love that. I love dramas that do that!

Thank you to all the actors, production team, and everyone for making Jack and Joker!

Honest opinion

It’s truly a high quality show and you can see everyone put so much effort into it. I think the story was just a tiny bit dragged, but the last episode had me on my knees and toes, it was too suspenseful, too dramatic and just too GOOD, I didn’t want it to end!! The main cp is only the two most gorgeous boys I’ve ever seen in my life. If you’re not a fan of slow burn tho, you won’t like it

Repetitive plot structure. Underdeveloped character arcs

The series presents a narrative with stagnant characters, Jack and Joker, who repeatedly fall into similar problematic situations without meaningful growth, despite initial hints of depth. Save's betrayal of friends, including an attempt to poison a grandmother, further highlights the series' shallow character development. While the talented cast attempts to elevate the material, the show fails to meaningfully explore serious themes like childhood poverty, instead using them as superficial plot devices. The comedy falls flat due to poor editing, and the relationships, though unique, lack emotional complexity. Ultimately, the series might appeal to viewers seeking unconventional romantic dynamics but falls short of delivering a sophisticated or transformative storytelling experience.

Reallyyyyy enjoyable, with a few small bumps.

I loved it! War's (Joker) acting is really good in this.

One of the biggest issues I have with so many BL's is that the "drama" aspects feel forced or it doesn't make sense. Jack & Joker really doesn't have that problem. All the conflicts that happen throughout don't feel like a random ball thrown at you where you go "What? Where'd that come from?"

I do think they have some parts of the story that are somewhat rushed; the beginning for instance, (if you haven't watched it, don't read this part) I think they could've made a bit more to better explain why Joker would turn himself in. To me, it kinda felt like something to "get out of the way" so they could do the 5 year skip.

The only other part I wasn't the biggest fan of was the "games" aspect of the Four Horsemen. It created good scenes, don't get me wrong! I just didn't understand the point of it fully.

Besides those 2 things, this has become one of my "lists of recommended BL's," this show is absolutely a need-to watch by BL fans. Amazing acting, great characters, amazing scenes. And you know it's good when you cry your eyes out!

Not a masterpiece, but interesting and worth watching for the acting and chemistry of the main leads

A bit of a late review, I only saw it recently and I watched this with no prior knowledge of any of the actors so I had no bias (tho I did know it had the same director as another Thai bl that i recently saw and loved, wc is I Feel You Linger in the Air), but thanks to this show I've sorta fallen into the YinWar rabbit hole lol.

POSITIVES (for me):
• 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗼𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 without needing to be overly sexual. One of the main things that keep me watching a BL is if it can make me care about the main characters and their love story and I can kinda excuse plot holes, weak stories or low-budget production as long as the leads' acting are believable, compelling, and can convince me that they are indeed in love with each other. I don't need a lot of love scenes or kiss scenes as long as I feel their love or yearning for each other, if that makes sense. I saw it on this pairing. While they had a slow burn, enemies to lovers romance, it felt worth it when they finally got together and i was rooting for them (and tbh kissing/intimate scenes aren't my no. 1 motivation in watching a bl and i won't even freaking care if there's none or limited but omg the kissing/intimate scenes here got me silently screaming and blushing like goddeym i had to keep pausing not bc it's bad or i don't like it but i had to compose and calm myself lololol).
- The main characters had a moment of connection before the timeskip and main story happened (aka at the beginning of the show). Even a brief connection is fine, bc at least it made me feel that their attraction towards each other makes sense. Bonus points if there's a sorta "destined for each other" element later on.
• It doesn't follow a usual student or officemate couple that's typical in a lot of bls and instead 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗰𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳/𝗲𝘅-𝗰𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱-𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿. It also makes me more interested to watch bls that present different types of couples with no defined uke/seme or top/bottom "stereotypes".
• I also like that both of the 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 (whether those motivations can lead them to making good or bad decisions). For instance, Jack had his own dream of building a school to help the local children, while Joke is trying to change and make amends from his past as a thief and finds love/purpose along the way.
• 𝗝𝗼𝗸𝗲'𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗴𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀. I was looking forward to whatever character he became next. The acting for each of them were good as well, not overacted nor underacted.
• The 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵. I especially liked Aran, yeah he was presented as an arrogant and spoiled rich kid at the beginning but he did have some sort of development and I was looking forward to see more of him. The rest of the gang were fun as well, tho I had mixed feelings about Hope and Save.
• The 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀, especially the one at the hospital. I felt bad for Joke but can understand and feel Jack's frustrations as well. War and Yin are honestly good actors. The actors for the side characters also did well imo.
• 𝗕𝗮𝗱𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗮 (i kept on wishing she wouldn't die bc in stories like this you would expect one major family member to get hurt or killed for emotional effect). Bonus points bc she's a shipper like us lol and was helping Jack and Joke reconcile most of the time.
• 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 for a show of this type. And tho im not an expert in action scenes but they were believable enough for me.
• 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲. There's a lot of scenes that i have an urge to see again due to good acting and/or chemistry, good action sequences, or they're just plainly memorable to me.

LESS POSITIVE/MIXED FEELINGS (and some personal gripes):
• 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀. They are sometimes be a bit cartoonish/cliche, especially when they do the evil laugh lol. Also im not sure if we're supposed to empathize with the Boss at the end, like he's done lots of evil things, ignores his own son, and almost killed the MCs but now we're supposed to feel sorry for him cuz he misses his wife? Idk.
- Also what's with Jack and Joke making out right in front of Boss' salad during the hangman game lol? I get it was a quite emotional and meaningful moment since they thought it'll be their last time together but lololol i kinda chuckled why boss was just letting them do whatever when he's already itching to push that button and off them all. Like did he have a moment of humanity and let them have a final goodbye or is he secretly also a shipper like us and enjoyed that moment? Lololol just kidding.
• Related to the villains, 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲 at times. There are moments of telenovela-ish quality in plot and even in the dialogue. Tho tbh it didn't bother me much bc im used to watching local telenovelas with much worse plot lol.
- The whole fake engagement/dating(?) thing with Rose and Jack. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Rose, I thought she was pretty cool especially after Jack rejected her but the whole subplot could have been shorter i guess? Idk, i know this was slow burn and maybe i was just looking forward to see Jack and Joke finally get together and confess their feelings to each other.
- I also felt that Hope and Save were forgiven too fast/easily. First, hope was pretty much beating up joke/jack and the rest of the gang in the earlier episodes then the next moment they're working together? And save betrayed them by being boss' spy (tho he had his own reasons for doing so wc is pretty understandable) but by the end everything's alright. Idk, i guess this was where my generous suspension of disbelief came in handy.
- I can't say much about the missions thingy bc im dumb but I've seen some people complain how they were a bit childish. Idk, i thought they were fine for a bl, i mean i wasn't expecting some next level, 4d chess type of mind games. But i guess they could be better?
- Speaking of mind games, the whole idea of the ring being a trick/deception by the four horsemen was a bit ??? Idk if i find it unrealistic or that those rich a-holes are just really that twisted and wicked and powerful to pull it off. I'm not even gonna delve into the details of how and when they even started pulling it all off (like did they already know boss will plan to steal it? Or did they start when it was already stolen? Eh? Another use for suspension of disbelief i guess 😅

OVERALL THOUGHTS:
An interesting watch with good acting and chemistry from the main leads. Some plot points might need suspension of disbelief and some characters and dialogues can get a bit stereotypical or cliche sometimes, but overall if you're not hyper critical about such stuff and just want to get a different experience and see a not so typical pairing with good chemistry, interesting side characters, some good enough action scenes and nice production values, it's worth watching. I gave it a 9 for the main couple and the overall atypical premise, but if the acting and chemistry was less compelling, it might be an 8.5.

is it good? no did i have some fun? yeah

started out as promising but it got so messy and goofy halfway through that i wish they would’ve just focused on the romance & rest of the characters. i like plot, especially when it’s good and well written, but this drama’s plot was so bad it kind of pissed me off, which is a bummer cuz i liked the romance (slow burns are my thing) but even that wasn’t enough to save this entire mess. not to mention the special episode?? what the hell 😭😭😭 what even was the point??

ps. i wanted just a bit more of arun & tattoo, but i’m also okay with what we got.
