..and if the wound from falling down and hurting your neck is not the proof...i do not know what it is!

I’m really impressed by the director’s work. The way he captures emotions and uses light and wind adds so much feeling and depth to the scene. The actors do an outstanding job conveying every emotion, and the music matches the moment perfectly. I can’t get over how well everything comes together!

First Impression
This episode felt like the emotional fallout we’d been waiting for, with confessions, misunderstandings, and just enough softness to calm the storm a little.
Episode Thoughts
Fresh off the battlefield, the male lead finally has to face the consequences of hiding who he really is. He rides off with the female lead and tries to explain why he lied, but honestly, it still doesn’t feel like a great excuse considering how long he kept her in the dark. What hits hardest is that her real pain is not just the lie itself, but the distance it creates between them. In her eyes, there is still a huge gap between a butcher’s girl and a marquis, and she believes the world would laugh at them. Meanwhile, the male lead makes it very clear that he does not care what anyone thinks — she is the only woman he wants, and that part was genuinely sweet.
Their heart-to-heart gets interrupted when news comes that one of the thug boys has been badly injured and might not survive. Thankfully, that turns out to be a misunderstanding, and the ink plate from his sister ends up saving him. It was a tense moment, but also one with relief at the end.
Elsewhere, Mr Sun continues to make questionable decisions, going into battle without armour and then trying to cry wolf to get the Royal Princess’ attention, only for it to backfire once the Grand Tutor arrives looking for the leads. I did laugh at that whole situation. There is also a nice moment when the male lead asks the Grand Tutor if he would take the female lead as his goddaughter, not realising at first that they are talking about the same person.
We also get more strategy and consequences on the enemy’s side. Sui Yuanhuai is rescued during the chaos, and once he hears that their brute was killed in three hits, he immediately works out that it was the female lead. That definitely feels like something that will come back on her later.
The episode closes with more emotional honesty between the leads. The male lead says the happiest time of his life was the simple life he had with her, and by the end, with them holding hands, it seems like she has more or less forgiven him. I’m still a little torn because after 26 episodes of secrecy, her anger feels resolved quite quickly, but this drama is moving so fast that maybe that was always going to be the case.
Character Notes
The female lead still feels grounded and emotionally honest. Even when hurt, her reaction makes sense because the problem was never just romance, it was trust and the difference in status between them.
The male lead is finally saying what he feels out loud, and his sincerity is clear, but I still think he waited far too long to tell her the truth.
Mr Sun remains lovable but slightly ridiculous here, while the Royal Princess continues to have great presence even in smaller moments. The Grand Tutor also adds warmth and a little humour to the episode.
And of course, Sui Yuanhuai connecting the dots about who defeated their brute feels like very bad news for later.
Final Thoughts
This was very much an aftermath episode, but it still had a lot packed into it: emotional fallout, sweet confessions, a little comedy, and future danger quietly building in the background. I do wish the female lead’s anger had lasted slightly longer, but I’m still very invested in where this goes next.
Favourite Moment
The male lead saying that out of all the women in the world, she is the only one he wants.
Trope Check
Secret identity fallout, class difference angst, interrupted heart-to-heart, battlefield aftermath, emotional confession, hand-holding reconciliation, looming revenge

I think it was mymost anticipated slap from a drama. The whole episode is really good as we can finally see their true feeling. The conversations are matured and rekindled their feeling.Glad all the boys are doing well from injuries after battle. And ofc SYQ is rescued and retreat to Liu city dt back up army from capital arrived. OK I can expect no more XZ battle scenes becuz today fishing and spar scene is so beautiful. And the storyline progress to political intrigues and more violence in upcoming episodes .

Episode 27 of Pursuit of Jade really said bonk first, feelings later, and honestly I respect that energy. Chang Yu opening the episode with that solid head smack to Xie Zheng was everything I didn’t know I needed, equal parts justice and comedy gold. It wasn’t even about him being Marquis Wu’an, it was the emotional whiplash of lies plus that out of nowhere kiss and his bold “as long as I’m alive, you’re mine” line. Sir, that may sound hot to us, but to her it screams slap me please. And that smack delivered. The way Xie Zheng looked like his soul briefly left his body had me cackling, but what did he expect going up against pig butcher strength. Consider that one hit repayment for 26 episodes of deception. The episode then tried to pull a fast one on us with Man Di, and I was already bracing for heartbreak thanks to the soldier Chang Yu spared, only to find out he survived because of the heart guard from his sister. Crisis averted, emotional damage reduced, and honestly it made the rest of the episode breathe a lot easier. Then came the comedy duo we didn’t know we needed, Xie Zheng and Yin Gong Sun, truly birds of a feather. Yin Gong Sun acting like he was on his deathbed over a tiny scratch and preparing fake blood like he’s auditioning for best actor, only to accidentally spit it out when Grand Tutor Tao showed up early, was peak chaos. I laughed way too hard at that entire sequence. The long awaited meeting between Xie Zheng and Grand Tutor Tao did not disappoint either, especially with that hilarious parallel conversation where both of them were talking about the same girl without realizing it. Even the guards were like wait a minute, aren’t they talking about the same girl. That conversation gave me déjà vu over Grand Tutor Tao’s conversation with Chang Yu, both talking about Xie Zheng. Anyways, when the truth clicked and Grand Tutor Tao hit him with “you’re the matrilocal husband?” while Xie Zheng countered with “you went to fix the dam?” I lost it. Absolute cinema. But the real heart of the episode came quietly after all the chaos. That late night scene where neither of them could sleep, leading to fishing, then talking, then sparring, felt like calm water after a storm. Their sparring scene was simply beautiful, no flashy effects, just two people in sync, moving like poetry. Xie Zheng fighting with one hand, Chang Yu nearly getting caught by a branch and him stopping it just in time, the way he guided her and the way she eagerly learned, it all screamed power couple in the most understated, melancholic and sentimental way. And then the soft landing, the reconciliation, the words that melted everything. Him saying he’d move to Lin’an and that his time as Yan Zheng was the happiest in his life was dangerously sweet. Add in him admitting he’s more afraid of her hitting him again and her calling him out for that random kiss, followed by that gentle shoulder pull and her leaning in, I was gone. Completely smitten. I love that they didn’t drag the conflict and stayed true to Chang Yu’s straightforward nature, while Xie Zheng continues to be soft only for her. This episode had everything, comedy, tension, tenderness, and that kind of romance that sneaks up on you and lingers. I’m officially obsessed and very ready for what’s next.

After sitting on the edge of my seat watching Chang Yu in battle, the breathtaking entrance of the Marquis was the perfect topping.
