The prelude to their war

It hooks you from the first minute. It's aesthetically beautiful, and not just because of the man. But it also tells of the beautiful, warrior woman as well as the picturesque village.

Trial after trial

This episode was such an emotional rollercoaster! I was terrified for Chang Yu, Zheng, and little Ning the whole time.

At first, they sent Chang Yu to prison based only on her aunt's accusations, without any real evidence. Then we learned that the Fan house was attacked, with Zheng and Ning nowhere to be found. Luckily, they managed to escape and were hiding in the forest, freezing. I bet Ning was so scared, but she didn't panic or show it. Such a brave little girl!
Thanks to Zheng, waves—literally waves—of assassins were killed with masterful skill. All his moves held such grace and flawless accuracy; considering he was still healing and not at full strength, it felt truly EPIC!
Meanwhile, thanks to Constable Wang, Chang Yu was released from prison and rushed to find her sister and husband—finding them just in time and making her first-ever human kill.

Everything that happened next was just as tense: Zheng is back to the state he was in in episode one, Chang Yu's hands won't stop shaking, and they cannot return home as it's been locked down by the Yamen. And then an arrest warrant for Zheng... WTF! Then they are both put on trial again—Chang Yu is sent back to prison for "escaping", and Zheng is accused of being a bandit...

Zheng was ready to kill everyone there, as he clearly felt the judge was unfit for his power, handing out guilty verdicts left and right. Thankfully, his friend Headmaster Gongsun arrived with travel papers for Yan Zheng, his scholar. That got our boy released, and Chang Yu as well.

My emotions are all over the place. I was so angry at the judge, the aunt, and the assassins... and yet, we still don't know who actually killed Chang Yu's uncle! But one thing is sure—it is all a setup.

Five Stars

This is one of those dramas that you cannot take a peek at and walk away. I was instantly hooked! It has everything. A strong ML who shows care and tenderness. A strong FL who is sweet and kind but defends herself and those she loves like a warrior.

Blood, Battles & Hidden Scars

First Impression
This episode wastes no time raising the stakes. The FL is arrested for supposedly murdering her uncle, and it’s obvious from the start that this whole situation is a scheme against her.

Episode Thoughts
Episode 7 begins with the FL being arrested for the murder of her uncle. It’s clearly a setup against her, though we still don’t know exactly who is behind it.
🪷
While she’s imprisoned, Constable Wang visits her home only to find complete chaos — bodies everywhere and both the ML and her little sister missing. Desperate to find her sister, he allows the FL to go into the mountains to search for them.
🪷
We’re then thrown straight into a brutal fight scene. The ML is already badly injured but is still fighting off warriors while protecting the FL’s younger sister. Just when it seems like he’s reaching his limit, the FL arrives and jumps straight into the fight.
🪷
The two of them fight side by side, perfectly in sync as they fend off the attackers together. It’s actually a really endearing moment because it’s clear the ML is falling for her little by little. I doubt he’s ever had a woman charge in and fight beside him to save him before.
🪷
Once the enemies are defeated, the ML finally collapses from his injuries and the FL ends up carrying him out yet again. She even jokes that other women want a man to support them, while she somehow keeps ending up supporting him instead.
🪷
While unconscious, the ML dreams of his parents. We see a painful memory where his mother takes her own life, leaving him alone. It’s clear there’s much more to his past and that these memories still haunt him.
🪷
Later we get a quiet moment between the leads. The FL is caring for the ML but she’s shaken — she’s killed someone and can’t easily brush it aside. Exhausted, she falls asleep beside him, and the ML quietly covers her with his coat while she rests.
🪷
Just when it seems things might calm down, more trouble arrives. Constable Wang appears with an arrest warrant for the ML and the county magistrate plans to beat a confession out of him.
🪷
It looks like he’s finished… until the Headmaster of Luyuan Academy arrives just in time. The charges are immediately dropped.
🪷
Unfortunately the ML collapses again from his injuries, and even as he’s fading his last words are asking for the FL to be taken care of.
🪷
Favourite Moment
The FL arriving during the fight and the two of them battling the warriors together.
🪷
Trope Check
• False accusation
• Strong female lead rescue moment
• Fighting side-by-side couple
• Injured hero collapse
• Traumatic past reveal
• Powerful ally arrival
• Protective male lead

The turmoil is been here

Start with Changyu being in custody and to how badass Xie Zheng fight those Wei assasin. Even though he is still hurt, his martial art is so incredible goshh. I can't help drolling and mesmerize how fluent, clean and powerful in every move Linghe did 🔥🔥my man eat this to next level 🔥🔥And i love when Changyu rush to help him. The love begin 😳🥺🥺Ah don't forget about how wonderful the director and screenwriter when shooting Xie Zheng dream about flashback. In novel we didn't get it. Even how Xie Zheng like tangerine candy. but heree, they did wonderful job to make this scene so beautiful yet heartbrekaing 😭😭😭 i feel sad for Xie Zheng 😭But luckyly he has Changyu on his side now hhh

Where Blades Clash and Hearts Surrender

Episode 7 of Pursuit of Jade was blazing hot from start to finish, and I mean that both in action and emotion. Things kicked off with Chang Yu being held in custody over her uncle’s murder accusation, only to receive the horrifying news that corpses were discovered in her home while Chang Ning and Xie Zheng had vanished. Her panic felt so raw as she begged her father’s old friend at the Yamen to let her go save them, insisting that Chang Ning is the only family she has left. I weirdly found that moment very satisfying because her mind went straight to Chang Ning and not Xie Zheng. Family first, always. She knows Chang Ning is still young while Xie Zheng can defend himself, and that detail makes her priorities feel grounded and real. Meanwhile the drama decided to turn up the temperature by giving us a glorious showcase of Xie Zheng’s martial arts as assassins stormed the Fang sisters’ house. At first I assumed those killers were after him, but it quickly seemed like the real targets were the sisters, which makes me side eye the past of Chang Yu and Chang Ning’s parents. Suspicious much? Regardless, watching Xie Zheng fight while still injured was the definition of “battle damage but make it attractive.” The man was determined to protect Chang Ning since Chang Yu was stuck in custody, and every swing, dodge, and strike was chef’s kiss level cool. There were a few camera choices that robbed us of the full visual feast, but honestly it was a minor gripe in an otherwise sizzling sequence. Just when things looked dire and Chang Ning was being chased while Xie Zheng was occupied, Chang Yu arrived like an avenging comet and killed the assassin chasing her sister. It was her first time taking a life, and the gravity of that moment really landed. Xie Zheng immediately told her to take Chang Ning and leave, and she did… only to come back after ensuring her sister’s safety. When she told him she had to send Chang Ning away first before returning for him, you could practically hear Xie Zheng’s heart doing Olympic level flips. At that point, sir was gone. Completely gone. Then the drama gifted us with an absolutely stunning tag team fight where Zhang Ling He and Tian Xi Wei moved together like flowing water, their choreography so smooth it felt like watching calligraphy come to life. The action scene was pure art. The emotional punch followed with Xie Zheng’s dream of his past, where his mother gently told him to go eat osmanthus candy while secretly planning her suicide, leaving him with lifelong guilt and trauma. That brief glimpse confirmed his fallen noble background and added another layer to his guarded personality. When he woke up, we saw Chang Yu’s hand trembling from the aftermath of her first kill, a quiet but powerful detail. And then came the sweetness overload: Chang Yu falling asleep in Xie Zheng’s lap while he looked out the window before glancing down at her with the softest smile and covering her with a blanket. I rewound that scene an embarrassing number of times because the cuteness level was illegal. Their chemistry was overflowing and my inner fangirl simply clocked out of work. The next day raised the stakes again when the pair were summoned to the Yamen after Xie Zheng was accused of murder, and the moment they knelt before the county magistrate was pure cinematic gold. The blocking, camera angle, lighting, and color grading created this incredible aura of power even though they were literally kneeling. I took so many screenshots because the scene screamed charisma. Xie Zheng refusing to bow to injustice while defending both himself and Chang Yu was chef’s kiss storytelling, and honestly the cinematography team deserves a standing ovation. Just when things seemed bleak, Xie Zheng’s ally finally appeared: Yin Gong Sun, headmaster of Li Yuan Academy in Heijian, who stepped in to verify Xie Zheng’s so called identity. Of course both men were hiding their true backgrounds, but Yin Gong Sun still managed to persuade the magistrate to drop all charges against Xie Zheng and Chang Yu. I loved that moment because someone from Xie Zheng’s side has finally entered the battlefield, and I am always weak for a secret identity arc that will eventually elevate a character. The cherry on top was Xie Zheng collapsing after everything, with the last thing he told Yin Gong Sun being to take care of Chang Yu. Sir, the love is loud and clear. Now I am beyond excited to see Yin Gong Sun’s reaction when he realizes Xie Zheng somehow got married while he was away. Episode 7 left me buzzing because this drama truly has a chokehold on me, and at this rate I am happily staying trapped.
