Prediction Time (includes spoilers!)
It’s been awhile since I fell into the Prediction Vortex enough to write it down and tracked where I am right or wrong. My track record is pretty good (75% or so) - it's a fun game for me.
Prediction No. 1 is what I’ve been saying this the first 2 episodes: Sunnwoo Hae and Kim Seok-ju are half (NOT Step) brothers. Exhibit A: Seok-ju shares the same last name as his mother and there is no father in sight (or a name on a birth certificate). Exhibit B: Sunwoo is an absolute shithead towards Seok-ju – for no particular reason other than . . . what? Seok-ju had a wealthy, easy life? Classic drama plot that the hateful person discovers that he’s related to someone he distains and ignores. Exhibit C: JTBC states that Kim Pil-do fell in love with Sunwoo Chan when she visited a fishing village long ago and when she returned, he was married and had a newborn son.
Prediction No. 2: Seok-ju is color-blind. First, he retrieved a notebook titled “Color Vision” (another term for color blindness) together with a study guide on East Asia History, purportedly to help Nu-ri study for exams. Next, Seok-ju has failed the driver exam several times. Finally – this might be a stretch – Seok-ju dresses in monochrome outfits – even his ties are solid “color”. No plaids, patterns, checks.
No. 2A: Would not be surprised to discover that Sunwoo Hae is color-blind. No real evidence yet, but he doesn’t drive (although he could easily afford a car) and his clothing is equally monochrome brown/beige (which could mean nothings but. . . .?)
Prediction No. 3: Something will happen to Tae-rin such that she grows careless during one of her deep dive excursions and almost dies. Seok-ju will read to her in his beautiful, mesmerizing voice and bring her out of her coma/whatever. This probably isn’t a real prediction – it’s what I WANT to see happen and certainly the foundation has been laid for something similar. Deep dive tank (peril) plus beautiful voice (rescue) = kdrama feel good story.
Prediction No. 4: After FL’s family went bankrupt, it was Seok-ju who convinced his mother to hire FL, but FL doesn’t know that and continues to treat Seok-ju badly.
Prediction No. 5: The financial debt of the Sunwoo family (dad and son) is related to Hae’s medical problems (which occurred after his mother died), not the fraud committed by the scammer.
Summary: If not already obvious, Seok-ju is my favorite character because Seo Ji Hoon is one of my favorite actors and the only reason I started this drama.
