Female lead could not pull it off
Like most viewers, the teenage acting and storyline was way better. Even their bickering was believable. Wish there was more of them.. I believe the producers probably couldn’t engage them for longer, as in the last few episodes, they had to use child actors to portray childhood storyline. Let’s manifest the teen actors in a drama of their own!As for the two adult leads, the ML was ok but the FL just couldn’t pull it off. Sorry to the actress, but facial expressions were quite superficial, and their chemistry was terrible. Their bickering and fighting was SO LAME AND CHILDISH. Their in their mid thirties and behave like 16 yo. The father of ML looked too old to be his father, I would have thought it would be two grandfathers. lol..
All in all it was quite hilarious, some funny moments and some sweet romance moments. FL wedding dress at the end was horrible !! Why oh why did the directors make her wear that??!!

Now ya'll know that ya'll are not 35!!!!
I truly liked this one.It would have been a solid 10 had it not been for one major necessary trope that I'm SUPER tired of (especially when this trope fell on a grown arse adult!!! It came off immature and downright goofy).
Then there was the fact that we have older K-actors playing 35-year-olds. Like... just make the characters actually older to match their actors' old faces (they look EXCELLENT for their ages, it's just that I can tell) and this is me who is in my early 40's saying this. I love K-dramas that center on older actors as well. Pfft.
Outside of that, this was super sweet and cute.

Cute, heart-warming RomCom
24 December, 2024I love the slapstick nature of the Comedy here. Ju Ji-hoon is best with his exaggerated facial expressions. He made me laugh so hard that my stomach ached. I didn’t like Jung Yumi in the first two episodes but she got better from episode 3, or should I say I understood her portrayal after more background history was given. I absolutely adore Oh Yeju and Hong Minki. I appreciate that they were shown from time to time in almost every episode. Based on the story, the young actors had a huge responsibility to make the story believable that even after 18 years of separation, the leads still had feelings for each other and the young actors nailed their parts. They have great chemistry as enemies to high school sweethearts. I also like how the actors were chosen to play young and older counterparts. They kind of look similar. In some other dramas, the actors look so different that I can't connect the two actors playing the same person.

Chaos - banter and rivalry, although lacking chemistry
This drama, so far, has been chaotic and funny (albeit a bit too childish at times) and has set the stage for an enemies/rivals to lovers story. It has been decently enjoyable, if a bit slow at times, but overall I am interested in seeing what happens next. She seems quite quirky which I like and I look forward to seeing their relationship develop further, although I hope to see more chemistry between the two leads as I feel there's a bit of a lack of it right now. I loved the younger actors who played them in school, but the present day leads aren't as captivating, in my opinion. This drama may not be everyone's cup of tea, but possibly worth a chance if you like chaotic love stories, banter, school/work rivals and reunions. The worst that can happen is you wasted a bit time on a story that isn't for you, at the end of the day. But in my opinion, you still learn something from the stories you don't like, even if it just helps you narrow down what you like about a story. That said, I do hope to raise my rating as more episodes come out, I've just found it a bit lacking so far.

The best part was the flashback to the teenager romance
==Breakdown==Background plot - 40%
Romance - 35%
Misc comedy - 25%
Background plot - boring
Romantic chemistry -
---Adult couple: Ranging from tepid to really bad
---Teenagers: ON FIRE
Misc comedy - boring
Production value - fine
I just didn't believe the romance between the adults, especially when the teenager version of the story was so incredibly good.
Another reviewer said the adult section of the story was like when a baker forgets to add sugar to the recipe and I would say a better analogy for this disappointing drama would be that the baker forgot to add baking soda (or other leavening agent). I know these two actors are capable of having romantic chemistry with other actors, but they had none with each other, and since this was a romance the entire modern storyline felt flat. I started watching this show when it was airing but then stopped and never thought about picking it back up. I just don't have the time or energy to watch the last two episodes.
The teenager / flashback portion of the romance was just the opposite. It was *FIRE* and I highly suggest y'all go check out youtube video compilations of that part of the story. Everything about it was truly excellent and the two young actors who played the parts should be given a new drama ASAP!!

Enjoyable drama with heart touching moments
Plot - the plot has teenage love, misunderstandings, separation and reunion.Actors - Both couples (the young and the older ones) have given their best. They have chemistry and the supporting cast has meaty roles. The negative character will make you want to rip your hair out. Basically, all of the actors have done a great job and it is the biggest strength of this drama. The choice of the director for the younger couple is especially worth praising.
This drama is not a thriller so there is obviously some level of guessing that a viewer can do. It still has the ability to surprise you with a new "point of view" of the characters. You get to unravel their emotions and that journey makes the show interesting.
Overall, I found it to be enjoyable and it delivered more than what I expected from it.

Certified to make you laugh
This drama won't change the rom-com genre but if you are looking for a comfort watch, full of smartly use troupes and solid performances, then Love Your Enemy is for you.Directed by Park Joon Hwa (What's Wrong with Secretary Kim) and written by Im Ye Jin (The Tale of Nokdu) the Love Your Enemy tells the story of two childhood friends who fell in love during their teenage years, only for a series of misunderstandings separating them. Almost two decades later, they find each other again and quickly realize their feelings for each other never went away.
The problem is that their families have been feuding for generations and their reunion happens because one family business is buying the other's. Hilarity, more misunderstandings, clarification and drama ensues.
I think Love Your Enemy managed to mix all the troupes in the best way possible thanks to a smartly developed script and really good performances from the entire cast but, particularly, from the leads in both versions as teens and adults.
It's really the teen version, played by Hong Min Gi and Oh Ye Ju, that bring all the heart to the story and make you want to root for their second chance as adults. Leaving the heavyweight lifting of having to emotionally deal with past and present events to Ju Ji Hoon and Jung Yumi, whom both bring a maturity to the roles. They also manage to display the same chemistry their younger counterparts built their relationship on.
There are, however, some issues with the story thanks to an unnecessary subplot that thankfully doesn't take up much for the drama but it plays a prominent part in the last two episodes. There was no need for it, the main couple having to deal with their feuding families was enough but I suppose a common enemy justifies bringing them together.
The sound designs it's really well done and use in certain scenes, particularly for comedy effects. The soundtrack it's outstanding, full of bops that complement the characters' emotions.
The cinematography it's really pretty, particularly on the flashback scenes, which makes sense because it's a reminiscence of when life was full of possibilities but, at the same time, it can get dark to complement the struggles of each character.
Overall, I think this was a good watch, certified to make you laugh.

Such a comfort drama to watch
After 18 years, Ju Ji Hoon finally returns to a comfort, romance, comedy K-Drama again! Yeay, we cheered.I like the storyline, because it's very light and in almost every episode they don't forget to include their teenage years when they started dating for the first time (yes, the storyline goes back and forth). The trope enemies to lovers also adds to the excitement of this K-Drama. I also liked how the second female lead character made me quite angry and annoyed HAHA, she nailed it as a third person. Although the storyline may be slow, but I can assure you, it will be more exciting in the middle until last episodes.
Now I'll talk about the minus(es). Firstly, I think for the second male lead (Gong Moon Soo), doesn't feel like a third person at all. He doesn't affect the main couple's relationship. On the other hand, I think the second male lead is like a brother/friend to first female lead. Secondly, in my opinion Ji Kyung Hoon is a useless/not so influential character. If this character didn't exist, I don't think it would affect the storyline at all.
For the OST, I really like Day After Day by Big Naughty and Lilac by Lee Mujin!

Back to korean melo romcom golden days
Love Your Enemy is a delightful melodramatic romcom that whisks viewers back to the golden era of romantic comedies, where love stories were simple yet irresistibly charming. This drama captures the nostalgic essence of old-school romcoms, beginning with the classic tale of two high schoolers who meet, bicker incessantly, and fall in love in the most endearing, childish way. Fast-forward 18 years, and the couple reunites, only to find themselves caught up in the same playful fights and undeniable chemistry. What truly sets Love Your Enemy apart is the unwavering love of the male lead for the female lead. His devotion stands the test of time, echoing the timeless romances of the past, where love was steadfast, pure, and enduring. This consistency in his feelings adds an emotional depth that will tug at your heartstrings.
The drama is a perfect blend of humor, romance, and heartfelt moments. It’s funny, light-hearted, and incredibly romantic, making your heart flutter with its simplicity and sincerity. If you're looking for a show that feels like a warm hug from the past while still delivering all the feels, Love Your Enemy is the one to watch.

A refreshing romcom once in a while
Who knew that this Jung Yumi x Ju Ji Hoon combo will possess a great chemistry. What a nice romcom watched after a long while. As k-romcoms nowadays do have so much going on, Love Your Enemy is a refreshing take played by two 40's actors (we need more of them!!). A somehow throwback to the past adding elements to the present.
OSTs are top tier!! They are insanely good!

I love these kinds of drama's
First my rating for the Music ...i dont know if the vallue of the drama depends on the music ? i watched a lot of drama's and never paid attention to the music ...so my standard star ratings are always 2.From the very first minute, it was an instant hit - call it Love Next Door Syndrome - the story started strong and kept building smoothly throughout, making it an absolute pleasure to watch.
The acting was fantastic , but a minor small call it miss placed casting of the actors they all looked so goddammmm good that i got confused about who was the grandpa father aunt mother second lover hahahahaahhah but they acted all great. THE FL YU MI was greatness wonderfull.
If you like rom-coms this one must be on your to watch list for sure
