Xiumin of “Paper Cuts” song saves the show.
As a new K-Pop fan I was excited to learn that the male lead Xiumin is also lead vocal on one of my favorite songs — “Paper Cuts” with South Korean group EXO. In my opinion, his gentle nature saves the show. The time travel aspect of the story is weaker than I’d hoped with the only consistent link to the past being his reincarnated adversaries and Joseon Era costumes. Xiumin alone made the storyline as believable as it could be. He definitely deserves a less bitchy, self-destructive FL.

3 reasons to watch K drama Heo's Diner
Heo Gyun not only enjoys cooking but also understands the process. He plays with flavour and encourages experimentation. However, he does not belong to the noble class, so his approaches have been limited. Discrimination is crystal clear, and talent is not recognised in this era. It is his desire and effort that help him to keep moving. Prince Gwang Hee loathes his bravery and is scared of his knowledge. He traps him in his plot, but unaware of destiny’s ploy.K-dramas love to set stories that travel through time. Dramas like Moon Lovers, Mr. Queen kept the audience hooked with their gripping tale over time. Heo's Diner is a fresh attempt in the genre.
1. A political fiasco brewing outside the palace and a thought-driven male lead make the story intriguing from the very first episode.
2. Other than reflecting on the lives of love-sick leads, the story is narrated through the lens of a social perspective. It is a bold attempt.
3. Maintaining a parallel line in both worlds is a tough job. However, makers here played an appropriate role.
Overall, it's a good attempt and a nicely crafted story to watch.

Not Groundbreaking, But Enjoyable
I just started watching Heo’s Diner, and at first, I wasn’t sure about the cast since it was my first time seeing them in action. However, after watching the first two episodes, I’m pleasantly surprised! The drama blends time travel, romance, and comedy, taking us from the strict class-divided society of the Joseon era to modern-day Seoul. As the synopsis states, the story follows Heo Kyun, a forward-thinking scholar who opposed the rigid status system of his time, ultimately leading to his exile. Just when he faces death, he mysteriously jumps 400 years into the future and finds himself in 2024.
Heo’s Diner doesn’t necessarily stand out, as the time-traveling trope has been used many times before. However, if you’re looking for a light and entertaining watch, it’s worth a try. So far, the mix of historical elements, humor, and culinary storytelling is engaging, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the rest of the story unfolds!

You can skip this meal.
This series started of ok, but it was evidently clear the script was not the greatest by the second episode. Weirdly, it had many elements that should have made it interesting and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the time travel, comedy, mystery, and romance elements were not blended together successfully. It also did not help that many of characters were not likable, with the exception of Heo Gyun and Eun Sil’s mother. The acting by most of the cast was ok. It was neither horrible nor outstanding. On the positive side, it had great cinematography.Random Notes:
Granted, I did not watch the whole series but they tried to incorporate to many ingredients. This could have worked if they focused on one or two storylines. Sometimes the best dishes are the simple ones.

A surprising start
At the start of the episode, i thought the k drama would be *pretty* bad and i was starting to think what i was doing with my life. But, at the middle, more or less, of the first episode, things got better and it got better till the end. Yes, this is a good start. Of course, this k drama isn't a masterpiece AT ALL, but it's a light-watch. If you like these types of k dramas, then i recommend it (so far, will be updating when the next episodes air!).Was this review helpful to you?
