WHY ARE YOU READING REVIEWS?? WATCH THIS SHOW!!

Well, if you have decided to read reviews to decide if this show deserves your time, then let me help make it easier for you. This is a biased review, so I won't be listing any criticisms. Not because it was flawless, but the watching experience (for me) was so good that I don't want to bother focusing on the negatives. If you're seeking the following for your next drama, then you will enjoy Undercover Highschool:

1) A male lead that is ridiculously charismatic, multifaceted and the great glue which keeps the show together.

2) A perfectly casted male actor that fulfills all the above requirements of the main role and beyond.

3) You are a diehard Seo Kang Joon fan and waited for his comeback after 3 years (Man could not have selected a better script than this cos he DEVOURED)

4) A drama that reminds you of old school kdramas which had a little bit of everything, but most importantly were a satisfying fun watch.

5) You don't mind watching a mix match of a gazillion genres that might not give depth to the story, but is an entertaining watch.

6) You don't mind clichĂŠs and tropes but are more bothered about how well they are executed.

7) You seek a fun light watch, a show that doesn't take itself too seriously while keeping you at the edge of your seat.

8) A charming romantic arc with two leads who complement each other superbly and leave you begging for more.

9) A well-paced show that does a good job laying the foundation of the story.

10) All in all a show that you will come back to when having drama slump or would enjoy its edits on IG, Tiktok and YT.

Korean industry has stopped making such fun dramas. So Undercover Highschool particularly shines like a rare gem in a sea of similar shows with serious undertones. It will remind you of shows like Strong Do Bong Soon and Healer for its ability to mix genres with a captivating cast. This is a quintessentially Seo Kang Joon run show. It revolves around him.....and what a fabulous job did he do! He will definitely hypnotize you with his charm, acting, athleticism and just overall onscreen demeanor. They could not have casted anyone better. Cannot wait to see what he will do next. Also, special shoutout to Jin Ki Joo. I have always liked her and in this show these two matched each other's vibe perfectly. Hope these two get casted together again in the future :)

SEO KANG JOON IS BACK!!!

Every once in a while, a drama comes along that’s just pure fun—and Undercover Highschool fits that bill perfectly. With its mix of undercover missions, ridiculous high school antics, and a hidden treasure plot that sounds like it came straight out of a comic book, this 2025 K-drama doesn’t take itself too seriously—and that’s exactly why it works.

At the heart of the chaos is a secret agent (played by Seo Kang Joon) who’s sent to pose as a high school student. His mission? Find a stash of gold bars that’s been hidden somewhere within the school grounds. It’s as wild as it sounds—and somehow, it works. What starts off as a slightly ridiculous premise quickly turns into a fast-paced adventure, with just enough mystery and clever twists to keep you invested.

Seo Kang Joon leads the drama with sharp charisma and an effortless balance between action and comedy. This marks his return to the small screen after completing his military service, and honestly, it’s a great choice for a comeback project. He handles the action scenes with a cool confidence, and his comedic timing gives the character a fun, unexpected edge.

One thing longtime fans might notice, though, is the lack of romance. Seo Kang Joon has always been particularly strong in emotionally charged, romantic roles, and it’s a bit of a shame that Undercover Highschool doesn’t really lean into that side of him. There are a few moments that feel like they could’ve led to something deeper, but the drama clearly chooses to stay focused on the action-comedy route. It’s not a major flaw, but if you’re hoping for swoon-worthy scenes, you might be left wanting more.

The supporting cast brings a ton of personality to the story—from oddball classmates to suspicious teachers—and the energy stays high all the way through. There’s a kind of comic-book charm to the way the story unfolds, filled with over-the-top moments and just enough heart to keep things grounded. The pacing is tight, the visuals are crisp, and the soundtrack knows when to turn up the tension—or lean into the laughs.

All in all, Undercover Highschool doesn’t try to be the deepest or most dramatic story out there, but it knows exactly what kind of show it wants to be. It’s entertaining, fast-paced, and full of fun characters you’ll enjoy watching—even if they’re totally chaotic. If you’re looking for a break from heavy plots and just want something to enjoy with a bowl of popcorn, this one’s worth queuing up.

From secret agent to high school student

Completed 9/10 🌟
I loved this kdrama... it had just the right amount of comedy, suspense, investigation, and romantic touches.

I loved the performance of the male lead, a man with intact morals, a big heart and a sense of justice 👏
I also loved the lead actress's performance. It was the drama's comic relief.
It made me laugh a lot, and I adored her love for the students. 👏

The villain was 100% perfect. That actress fits the character like a glove evil and questionable characters 🔥
I'm not giving it a full rating because I would have liked more development in the protagonists' romance, although I know it wasn't the final point of the drama.
However, it doesn't take away from how great it was to watch.
I recommend it 100% 💓

Captivating Story loved it. SEO Kang Joon Comeback is remarkable ❣️

It’s incredibly fascinating because it includes everything: action, comedy, romance, suspense, bullies, villains, intriguing main characters, emotional backstories, and high school drama—just everything. I truly enjoyed it. I’m completely captivated by this drama. SEO Kang Joon’s return after a long break is remarkable. I’m puzzled as to why this storyline isn’t more recognized; it’s absolutely fantastic. February is packed with excellent dramas; the plot is pure treasure. I’m really looking forward to his journey, and I’ll also be checking out the webtoon. ❣️ It definitely deserves a high rating; once you view the first episode, there’s no turning back. I absolutely loved the plot, giving it a perfect score of 10 out of 10, the characters a 9 out of 10, and Seo Kang Joon’s comeback a 10 out of 10. 🤌❤️

A complete package!

I loved watching Undercover High School so much! It was an absolute delight! The entire cast did a fantastic job and not just the main leads. I always love me a strong and smart female lead and Sua is definitely one along with being a compassionate person. Haesong is just too cool in every way. He has managed to portray action, comedy and deep emotions spectacularly. The team was just a delight. The students were also talented and bring life to the show. Loved the bromance and sismance. The chairwoman's character is also wonderfully portrayed and made a great villain.

The most enjoyable moments for me were the action and comedy scenes. It is rare that I truly enjoy the comedy because everyone has their own niche preference of what makes them laugh. I believe Undercover High School's comedy would have mass appeal. It's subtle rather than over the top. There is both physical comedy as well as dialogues that will make you laugh.

The plot itself is simple yet perfect. An NIS agent is on the mission to find the rumoured hidden treasure at a high school. In order to access the premises, he has to disguise himself as a student and face challenges that other students also deal with in high school. They do not waste time with him solely building inter-student relations. It very much revolves around his mission and introduces various characters in the process.

One can also get a taste of multiple genres like mystery, horror, historical, youth, besides action and comedy. As for the romance, it is mostly in the form of acts of service and bucket loads of chemistry. I would hope people still watch it for the cuteness of the two leads.

The show has great pacing and not a single moment is boring. I would probably watch this show all over again which is extremely rare for me to do!

Perhaps the OST is the only thing that didn't stand out for me (maybe because I was so immersed in the series) but I didn't dislike it either. So overall the show is a 9.5/10! Highly recommend it!

another K standard

This is another 2025 K standard. It has cute and good actors, nice music, good camera work and direction, yet
a very foreseeable script with some humoristic situations and a slight of romance. Obviously, it is possible to gather and train many cute and good actors, camera operators, directors and all the industry, yet creativity and awareness cannot be gained by training alone. Having all that great cinematographic power puts even higher demands for the script writers. Under the pressure for fast and numerous scripts, the quality has to suffer..
This drama is not an exception and it is only about 50% worth its watching time.

Expected better

Was excited to watch this drama but the moment they got the teacher involved, this became one of the worst dramas of 2025. The FL is very annoying and her role in this drama spoiled the entire story. She has a big mouth and always shouting but cowers when she is in front of the chairwoman. What a loser. Why would NIS agents reveal that they are NIS agents and bring a civilian like a big mouth teacher into the plan.? This drama shows that these NIS agents are very incompetent. I do not understand how he goes to rescue someone without his gun and nearly killed others because of his stupidity. They could have made the plot a bit better and also not have any romance in it - this spoiled the whole storyline. This drama could have ended in 6 to 8 episodes. Seo Kang-joon is a joy to watch , however, there was no chemistry between the ML and FL. I have never in my life find children behaving like children in Korean drama with asking to marry each other etc. I find it disgusting also all the flashbacks with when they were kids were unnecessary. What a disappointing drama.

First 2 episodes is really good

I started watching this drama because of Kim Minju(I'm Wiz*one), but I didn’t expect to get so attached after just two episodes!

This is my first Jin Ki Joo drama, and guess what?
I REALLY LIKE HER CHARACTER IN THIS DRAMAAAAAAA! (She might climb to my top favorite actresses with just one ongoing drama after only two episodes 😂😂)

And then Episode 3? EVEN BETTER—OMG, THIS DRAMA IS SO GOODDDDDDDDDDD!

Now that I’m a few episodes in, I can already tell that this drama is something special. The story is really interesting, and what makes it even better is how well-balanced everything is. It has comedy, thrilling moments, and just the right amount of emotional depth. Some dramas focus too much on one element and lose their charm, but this one blends everything perfectly, making it super engaging to watch.

The pacing is another thing I really appreciate. It’s not too slow where I feel like things are dragging, but it’s also not rushing through important moments. It hits that perfect middle ground where every scene feels meaningful and keeps me excited to see what happens next.

And of course, I have to talk about the characters! They’re all really well-written, but the standout for me so far is Jin Ki Joo. This is my first Jin Ki Joo drama, I did not expect to like her so much that she could climb my top favorite actresses list in just two episodes! Her acting is so natural and captivating, and I love the way she brings her character to life. She’s easily one of the biggest highlights of the drama for me.

Then there’s Kim Minju, who is the reason I started this drama in the first place(I'm a Wiz*one). As someone transitioning from an idol career, she’s doing a great job so far. I enjoy watching her on screen. I’m excited to see how she grows as an actress throughout this drama.

Since I’m only on Episode 3, I can’t say too much about where the story is going, but what I’ve seen so far has been amazing. Each episode keeps getting better, and I already feel so invested in everything that’s happening. If the drama keeps up this level of quality, it might become one of my favorites!

If you’re thinking about starting this drama, I highly recommend it. Even though I’m still in the early episodes, I can confidently say that the story, pacing, and acting are all on point. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

A very well done drama

It had all the genres basically (maybe not sci-fi): action, thriller, romance, comedy (heavy on this one), a little bit of horror in some scenes. The action/thriller part was soo well written and it got me so interested in it, the romance wasnt much, but the chemestry was havenly (dare I say one of my favorite couples in dramas and it wasnt even a full romance one), and the comedy was well balanced between the episodes and I laughed a loooot.
Full of plot twists, especially in the last episodes.
WATCH IT!!

A mixture of laughter and intrigue !totally worth a watch !

Can I just say how happy I am to have watched this perfect blend of mystery, humour, action and ofcourse emotions! It was my first time watching the leads but what a delight it was . The entire cast and I mean each and everyone stood out in their own manner . The way this drama depicted bullying, corruption tactics regarding school, biases , academic and emotional stress, toxic parenting, well it really needs to be appreciated. The investigation and mystery aspect was intriguing and amusing at the same time . It's an action comedy genre and so everything else was a cherry on the top . The romance had me smiling from ear to ear they are so effortlessly cute together and I agree the romance part was limited but other aspects of the storyline being so engaging made it worth it . I usually watch dramas mainly for the romance but this is one of the rare dramas where I didnt mind because each romantic moment felt so natural and wholesome. . Plus it has been a while since I laughed like this in a drama ! The humour was silly and I loved every bit of it . The villians and victims all were commendable in portraying their roles . And the relations this drama depicted! .Overall I highly recommend you all to watch it you won't be disappointed

KIM SHIN-ROK ATE AND LEFT NO CRUMBSS!!

this was one of the best dramas i watched in 2025. soe kang joon was spectacular in this role but kim shin rok stole the show for me. she perfectly depicted the deranged, psychotic power hungry character very well she ate and left no crumbs and ate the plate as well tbh. i was a bit unhappy over the fact how oh su a's character sort of existed for the sake of the male lead's character but still she too had some history and character development so it was fine. but the chairman's character reallly stood out for me. the horror of not finding the gold, the inability to understand that the gold didnt exist from the first place (it did but) because she spent her whole life trying to find it. the dynamic between oh sua and soe myong ju in the latter part of the eps was good as well. and the relationship between soe myong ju and her daughter the ending, and seeing her crying alone in that cell felt very raw and well deserving. the cast and the whole crew has done a really great job and this exceeded my expectations. loved how the genres were well-balanced throughout the drama.
