INSANEEEE
If you’re hesitating about starting this drama, let me put your doubts to rest: WATCH IT NOW. From the very first episode, it had me completely hooked! The chemistry between Yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin is absolutely magnetic, and the tension between their characters will keep you on the edge of your seat. The story is packed with some of my all-time favorite tropes—arranged marriage, the “he fell first” dynamic, and a cold yet secretly caring male lead—and it pulls them off brilliantly😍😍Baek Sa Eon’s protective and possessive nature adds layers to the drama, and the plot twists are simply mind-blowing. Every scene is crafted with such intensity and precision that you can’t help but feel drawn into their world. The acting is stellar, the music enhances every emotional beat, and the rewatch value is off the charts. This is the kind of K-drama that leaves you craving for more.
Honestly, I can’t stop raving about this show. Whether it’s the incredible character dynamics, the sizzling tension, or the fresh plot, this drama does not miss a beat. Do yourself a favor—start watching it now, and thank me later for introducing you to a masterpiece!!!!!!

Extremely unique and well made until it wasn’t
The last 2 episodes really pulled down the show , I don’t know who wrote the ending but it was extremely rushed and tried to tie all the plot lines in under an hour and it just didn’t execute well. The random war zone plot was also really random, rushed and didn’t fit the story whatsoever. The izmael and palatina line too? what were the writers thinking🌚It was still a overall really good kdrama but was there any need for all that? The acting and chemistry between the leads saved the entire kdramaWas this review helpful to you?
Can I hire yoo Yeon Seok to be my husband?
It's a very good drama, complete with romance, thriller, action, few funny moments. The Love chemistry between yoo Yeon Seok as Baek Sa Eon and Chae Soo Bin as Hong Hui Ju is amazing. Both of them are very talented and versatile actors. If yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin really become real life partners, I will bless them, even though I am young. The supporting artists also did a great job.But I felt that the ending of the last episodes was a bit too rushed and missed the point like ,What does Baek Sa Eon do?Also, Heo Nam Jun as Ji Sang U & Jang Gyu Ri asNa Yu Ri romance was a bit dull. over all it's good drama .

Disgusting propaganda and meaningless history
A fundamentally problematic series because its ending turns out to be Israeli propaganda, no matter how much it wants to change the names. It turns a blind eye to who are the perpetrators of the genocide taking place in Palestine. But even if we ignore its problematic ending, it is a series with little to highlight. Some screenwriters confuse “more story” with “good story”. Then they unleash stupid, implausible, messy, chaotic, and difficult-to-understand plot twists just to leave the viewer with their mouths open, although the only thing they do is distort the plot and the initial themes of their story.
Chae Soo-bin gives a good performance, but overall, this drama is pathetic, with the initial intentions of talking about a marriage in crisis and then getting into an inept thriller with lost siblings, serial killers, and a war pulled out at the last minute. It's an embarrassment that takes viewers for fools as it pulls out a more ridiculous twist than the previous one in every episode.

"DARE I SAY THIS IS THE BEST KDRAMA OF 2024....''
WOW! JUST WOW!! I've got no words for this kdrama, honestly. I am just flabbergausted such a drama had to wait till the end of the year to be released, like why?? But, let's start first with the cast, GOD DAMN! The casts is so unexpectedly amazing, i didn't expect the chemistry between Yoon Yeon Seok & Chae Soo Bin to blow up this big, like the chemistry is TOP-TIER, the tension between them is ONE WORD- INSANE, despite the 10 year gap, they proved all haters wrong with this acting. Just them too looking at each other already bring so much passion and butterflies in the stomach as a viewer. Who knew their chemistry will really explode like this? I'm so really happy for them....Also, the plot, damn, the plot...is INSANE...
PLOT DEVELOPMENT
The story begins with Baek Sa-eon and Hong Hee-joo, who have been married for three years but live in silence, largely due to their mutual disdain for each other. Their relationship is strained further when Hee-joo is kidnapped by a masked man who uses malware to hijack her car. This kidnapper demands Sa-eon’s attention and threatens Hee-joo’s life.
As tensions rise during the hostage situation, Sa-eon faces immense pressure as he navigates his responsibilities as a government spokesperson while dealing with his wife’s kidnapping. In a critical moment during a phone call with the kidnapper, Sa-eon coldly tells him to kill Hee-joo if he wishes—words that deeply hurt Hee-joo when she hears them.
After managing to escape temporarily from her captor, Hee-joo’s anger towards Sa-eon intensifies. The couple must confront their feelings and decide whether they can overcome their past grievances and work together to resolve the crisis. The narrative delves into their emotional struggles as they grapple with issues of trust, love, and redemption amidst external pressures from politics and personal trauma.
Ultimately, “When the Phone Rings” is not just about the kidnapping but also about how this traumatic event forces both characters to reevaluate their lives and relationship. It raises questions about what it takes for them to acknowledge each other publicly and privately while dealing with the demands of their respective roles in society.
Thanks for taking ur wonderful time in reading my review. Hope you have a nice day and stay safe.

If you’re not watching it now, then when will you???
An enormous fan of Yoo Yeon Seok, I heard this drama was about to air. So, I just casually decided to watch it without even knowing the plot or checking the trailer. Boy, I decided the right thing. This drama keeps you engaged right after it starts. Chae Soobin often keeps low profile in her dramas. But here, ufff the chemistry between the leads is so hot and interesting. Soobin just keeps getting better and better. The story is very interesting with unpredictable characters and the cinematography is so aesthetically pleasing. After each episode, you are only left with one line- When is the next episode coming, I can’t wait. ❤️Was this review helpful to you?
the first 6 episodes are REALLY GOOD
I got OBSESSED with this drama and that reminded me that I hate watching on going dramas bc I get so anxious to see the next episode. The beginning is really good, catchy and with plot twists that get you curious to see whats is next. But the ending was a disaster for me, I got totally disappointed.
Maybe if I have watched after all the episodes got released I wouldn't have gotter so frustrated. Each week I was obsessed with a lot of theories about the plot and in the end the characters did a lot of absurd action and many spots of the plot end it up open.
the chemistry between the actors was really good and here in Brazil the dramais very famous.

The chemistry is exploding and is becoming an addiction!!!
So far after four episodes have been aired, nice going for this drama that has been feeding my cravings for excitement. At this early, I can tell this drama speaks volumes by getting a significant viewership percentage. It's not surprising at all after watching! It has the perfect cast, narrative style that engages emotions and leaves the viewers something to think about, creative camera techniques like when it shifts to relive an event from the past and the angle movements when focusing on someone or something, that effectively bring substance to the scene, and by itself, the deep crafted story. The story's start hooked me instantly and I rooted for the two main leads. I liked that they are both rich here, as opposed to the usual romantic characters of poor girl – rich boy or vice-versa. Yoo Yeon-Seok and Chae Soo-bin's characters' psyche was interestingly teased out here in the details of their life, family, experiences, passions, dislikes, and fears. They play the roles of a married couple – a distant husband bearing the spokesperson position to the President of Korea and a mute wife working as an interpreter in a television network, who is not lawfully acting on their matrimonial duties as their union was forced by both families for business and political convenience alliance. The stable and non-communicative marriage was disrupted by the sudden abduction of the wife and the series of blackmail calls. The dynamics of the couple's relationship change afterward, eventually giving us romantic thrills with the scenes of the husband’s protective demeanors and toned-down jealousies towards his wife. This grows my anticipation as to what will happen next and the situation that will prompt the couple to lay bare what was long hidden in their hearts.
I am happy for Chae Soo-bin having starred in this project. She has a mark of her own in acting and has stamped herself as a celebrated serious actress through this drama. Her professional efforts in her 2-month studies of sign language give us a real-life portrayal of a mute person. And who would have thought that her chemistry with Yoo Yeon-Seok would blow up to such a degree showing an effortless connection that makes their relationship believable to the viewers. And yes, his attractiveness is like a vitamin to my eyes. He is strikingly charming with the wedding ring on his finger just like Song Kang in "My Demon".
Looks like I am seeing glory days for this drama. It’s awaiting performance recognitions and possibly Best Couple awards.

What a thrilling + love edition!
I don’t know why I want to watch this drama at first. But once ai started, ai cannot stop! I fell in love with the couple. Their chemistry is good. The storyline is power. All the actors are amazing. Very stressful to wait every week. Now i have crush with Yoo Yeon Seok and I had my eyes on Chae Soo Bin. At first I thought it was just only a simple romantic drama. Anyway, everything is good. 😍

Came for the cast, stayed for the chemistry ❤️?
Some dramas have a way of keeping you tethered, even when you’re navigating the agony of waiting for weekly episode drops—and 지금 거신 전화는 managed that rare feat. Its pacing was consistently commendable, which is no small achievement in a world of binge-friendly storytelling. However, similar to the likes of Marry My Husband (for those who have seen it), the drama couldn’t resist a detour into illogical territory as it neared its finale. Episode 12’s “Argan” trope? Let’s just say it stretched the limits of suspension of disbelief—enough to make me pause mid-episode and chuckle at its absurdity. But if logic faltered, chemistry soared. Yoo Yeon-seok as Baek Sa-eon and Chae Soo-bin as Hong Hee-joo didn’t just sell their characters’ connection—they redefined it, giving us a portrayal of husband and wife dynamics that felt fresh and heart-fluttering in the best way. While both leads were exceptional, Yoo Yeon-seok’s performance truly took the cake. Every expression was intricate, every emotional beat carefully measured—he gave his all to playing Baek Sa-eon, elevating the character into something unforgettable.
That said, the finale left me with mixed feelings. On one hand, I appreciated that all the characters, including Heo Nam-jun’s Ji Sang-u and Jang Gyu-ri’s Na Yu-ri, got closure. On the other, the overly soapy tone of the final episodes dampened the emotional resonance the show had built up until then. Still, the ending wasn’t unsatisfying—just not quite the finish I was hoping for.
The OST deserves a special mention, as it beautifully underscored the series’ emotional beats and has firmly earned its spot on my repeat playlist. And while all the characters delivered solid performances, it’s clear the writer poured the most effort into crafting scenes between Yoo Yeon-seok and Chae Soo-bin. Thankfully, this worked in the drama’s favor, as their interactions were undeniably the highlight.
Overall, I’d say this drama is an 8/10 for me. If I were rating it solely on the electrifying chemistry between the leads, it’d be a solid 9.5. But the last two episodes—and their logic-defying moments—bring it down a notch. Still, 8 feels pretty generous, considering!

Started out well but...
I enjoyed first 6 episodes despite of lot of cliche filled scenes and unrealistic story line because the actors carried it out well but then I did not care anymore.. There is a limit to unbelievability after which it becomes exhausting.1. How can a spokesperson of a president hide his wife for years. Anyone during three years would have spied on him and within few days would find out Hong Hee Ju coming out of his apartment daily. At one point he also challenges press to find dirt on him and still the press did not find about his wife. That too when his wedding became mysteriously private and his wife was not seen with him for years. First thing any journalist heck even an intern would do is check about his wife. Thats ridiculous that they did not till ML reveals.
2. How is the kidnapper able to so easily kidnap her in the temple so easily. Both FL and ML and the whole world knows about the kidnapping, they are roaming around without a security even after FL and ML get hurt one after another in different incidents clearly executed by the same kidnapper. ML keeps talking big about protecting FL and all she does is run around alone multiple times and ML does not care. where was the body guards he employed who were shown for one episode!
3. He is the spokes person to the president and he uses all his time and resource to work on personal matters. President is not in the picture. Only time he comes is when he literally gives his vehicle to ML. Only when romance is needed they remember about some speech of his so that FL can also be with him. And again using the same platform to announce his missing wife. I see everyone commenting that they were crying seeing ML cry but I am sorry at this point i did not feel any damn thing for ML or FL .
4. What was the point of FL sending pictures of her leg ? what was she thinking. It was obvious that ML will either suspect her (which he did not somehow that makes him stupid) or suspect an affair with the caller and if ML had really no feelings for her as she thought, he might have come back with a vengeance for having an affair behind his back. Did she really think he will give divorce immediately knowing she is having an affair?
Overall still a good one time watch may be if we watch at one go and all the actors including ML and FL did so well . But i lost interest after watching 10 episodes. Definitely not worth 8..9 .

LOVED it, but the ending ??
i loved this drama for what it was, the leads were amazing. i give props to the director for choosing the ml and fml for this drama because it was lovely. i liked the story of her being mute and the first few episodes really drew me into the whole drama. it got crazy here and there but it kept my interest luckily up until the end though ..the ending was a mess and could of been way better. there were a lot of things the ml and gml did which could be avoided and those actions were ridiculous. i’m happy they are together but in this way i didn’t like, but anyways this is a nice romo drama for anyone looking for a romantic drama with a interesting storyline. i definitely recommend this one.
