Moving

Using shots and subtle character development, the story Pavane moved my heart ever so subtly and would have had me thinking for days if I had let it. Observation of the human condition, curiously done. However, it did leave a lot to be desired. A lot of moments were left hanging, leaving the viewer to wonder what it even meant and what was going on in that moment. There were a few scenes I thought were sort of displaced or disjointed, trying too hard to be edgy or in an attempt at unnecessary shock value, I'm not so sure. However, there was a humanness about it that I cannot dismiss.

I would have given it an 8, but I was truly moved at the end of it. The extra .5 is a point for sentimentality, well done. I was left surprised and melancholy by the end, which is interesting because I hadn't thought the movie had done enough to make me feel that much for the characters, though they were interesting and curious. But lo and behold, I ended up feeling more than I thought I would and having more thoughts than I thought it would evoke. The what-ifs and suddenness of the situation left me reeling. So, I think it should be watched without knowing how it ends or without a lot of spoilers about it.

The depiction of how life inevitably moves on after loss is heartbreaking, but realistic and even a little happy in the sense that it's a happy thing that others find the strength to live again, anyway. If I had known how it would end, then I may not have been so melancholy and appreciative about the way I feel about it. There's something about youth that I think odd movies like this capture well. The characters remind me of characters from a John Green book. Full of sometimes warm, but mostly unreasonable and uncanny energy. I was an odd child and experienced life in strong colours when I was younger, and so for me, depictions like this are very human indeed.

Perfect Depiction of Loneliness and Finding Bright Moments in Life

When I first saw the trailers and bits of the movie, I thought it was set in the 80s. The cinematography of the movie made it seem that way, but I was surprised that the story actually takes place in the present time. Compared to other romance movies, Pavane's take on love did not portray it as something with grand gestures. This movie's view on love is simple, and this was highlighted through each character's circumstances in life. We have Gyeong-rok who grew up with a painful reality through his parents. We have Mi-jeong who has a difficult life as a breadwinner, stuck with the reality her deceased parents left. Then we have Yo-han who seems easygoing and has it all that in life, but actually succumbs to the darkness of loneliness. His line about the refrigerator light was a perfect visualization of what loneliness and sadness is after being left alone in a house.

What's likeable about this movie is that its view on love was not boxed to the idea that you only find love from other people. One could say that the romance between Gyeong-rok and Mi-jeong was not really the focus of the story even though it was hooking. They all had those dark moments, and another common ground they have is that they all had something they were passionate about. In some way, you could consider their passions 'love' also becuase it brought sparks in their dull lives. At the latter half of the movie, they were able to find the light together despite the mundaneness of their lives. Though it was cut short for some of them, it remains true that those moments will remain eternal even though time has passed. That's a realistic take on how some bright moments in life only come for a short time, but it's something you'll remember for a long time.

beautiful story in between lines

Honestly, it’s not a film for everyone. It’s very poetic, slow, and I’d say more for those who appreciate indie-style films. The cinematography was beautiful.

The plot is beautiful. And their youth love story is filled with so many glittering moments. It shines on the fact that others can really see the light within us and usually those are the ones who want to be close to us romantically or as friends.

Obviously this turns into ktrauma, the trailer says it all. But it’s still worth the watch.

FILM YANG GW PIKIR AKAN BOSENIN. TERNYATA...

Gw suka betapa naturalnya mereka, no make up no filter.
Film ini udah masuk watchlist, cuma emang ga ngeh kalau rilisnya today.
Daaaan sehabis pulang kerja, sampai rumah. Gw liat notif FILM INI SUDAH RILIS! Beneran MENIKMATI banget filmnya. Gw suka gimana cut to cut film ini! Cepet! Tipe movie yg gw sukak.

But it's okeee. Gua terima pake nangiiiis kejer nontonnya. Mau gimana emdingnya, gw suka gimana "berprosesnya" perasaan mereka satu sama lain, gmn hubungan manusia di film ini, walaupun ga detail dan basa-basi, tapi tersampaikan aja.

Film ini bukan cerita romance ala CEO tampan kaya ketemu cewe miskin lalu jatuh cinta. POKOKNYA KALIAN WAJIB NONTON!

love it

I really like how this movie is completely different from what korean romance movies or series usually present. There aren't the pretty perfect main leads falling in love with no concern at all, with tose silly feelings. This is raw, pure and realistic. This is a really good representation of what real "love" or affection should look like. A handsome man falling in love with a not so appealing woman (based on manmade beauty standards) isn't something we usually see in Movies. Beautiful story, good actors, easy to watch no boring scenes the sound choices fit really well, well written characters (especially the blonde man, i love how aware he is, and i don't often see such realistic characters in koren movies either. His perspective of the world and people really is admirable) A really cinematic movie, lightning fits the scenes and overall to the mood of the movie. Definitely worth my time.

still waiting for my soul to catch up

i went into this totally blind and im so happy i did... i saw it pop up on streaming having never heard of it and decided to give it a try i may have cried a little (or a lot) it reminded me a lot of the drama adaptation of love in the big city but i was surprised to find out this is the same director as escape which after sitting on it i can totally see 100% recommend watching the movie

do be warned tho the actors dress in native american traditional clothes i can see why they did it like it makes sense for the story but it doesn't sit right with me but take that with a grain of salt because im not native would've been a five star had they not dress in native clothing

Love is illusion

Simple storyline and it engage with our society. We just need to be kind and the good things happen. Each character has their own strength and weakness and it made sense as human
YH is such happy go lucky person but held traumatic events and he able to deal with it after his see GR and MJ love story.
GR unexpressive person but he found he attracted to MJ loneliness. GR is most fragile character but he honest and its the strong traits he has.
MJ is strong person and she actually able to survive in the hectic society as she said it easy deal with rain compared to people. That why she give up

I think it not wrong to give up as long as you live you life at your own pace. Overall this movies is good and I made me want to feel this kind of love.

Mi-jeong é o coração emocional do filme.
