nothing new but still a beautiful watch

Well… I knew Cho Young-woo wouldn’t disappoint in this role. I mean this is what he does best. 🥺

Although the plot isn’t anything new. And I’ve seen this before (forever traumatized by 20th century girl). 💔 This was a beautiful story. With beautiful cinematography and a precious soundtrack.

To me I wish we all live more like Seo Yun treasuring every moment. And hopefully we spend our days with someone like Jae Won making our days shine a little brighter.

3.7/5 for me. 5/5 for tears though.😭

romance that’s really about loving without control

The writing was solid, the tropes were a little cliché but in the best way, and the chemistry was honestly insane. 🔥

What I loved most though was the message underneath the romance. It’s really about loving someone as they are and supporting who they’re becoming, not trying to change them or push them into something they’re not ready for. That part really got me.

Also, zero boring episodes. No annoying twists. The story just… flowed. Which feels rare.

And can we talk about the locations for a second? The architecture and settings were gorgeous. You can tell the production team put so much care into choosing locations. Every space added to the vibe and made the whole drama feel even more special.

I also really liked how they used the virtual reality game. It showed how much bolder people can be when expectations fall away, and how that confidence slowly carries into real life. Such a fun and thoughtful touch.

Overall, this was such a feel-good watch and an easy favorite for me. 💖

great premise, could’ve stayed tighter

I have mixed feelings about Idol I, but there are parts I genuinely appreciated.

What the drama did really well was the idol life realism. The way it showed the pressure, perfection standards, and lack of humanity idols are often afforded felt painfully accurate. This is such an important topic, and I honestly wish it were addressed more openly like this. K-netizens truly need to chill, and this drama does a good job reminding us that idols are human beings first, not machines or public property. That part alone made it worth watching for me.

That said… the plot got messy and kind of dull.

It started off strong. The early episodes had twists, suspense, and that “just one more episode” energy. But around episodes 7 to 8, it really lost momentum. I actually stopped watching for a bit and almost forgot it was still airing, which says a lot. I’m used to mid-drama slumps, but this one felt especially avoidable. It could have stayed much tighter and more hyped.

Things picked back up around episodes 10 and 11, which helped, but episode 12 felt like an afterthought. It was clearly there to give viewers a happy ending. I didn’t hate that, I actually liked the ending itself, I just wish we had more time living in that resolution instead of still tying up loose ends so late.

Overall, this drama had a great premise and an important message, but the execution didn’t fully live up to its potential. Worth watching for the idol commentary and Kim Jae-young, but manage your expectations on the storytelling side.

Not a light romcom!

I went into this expecting a light romcom about language, but it ended up being much more about emotional translation, how people avoid processing their feelings and instead keep adapting themselves for others.

It had cute moments, but emotionally it felt heavier and more introspective than expected. The mental health aspect and emotional misunderstandings carried more weight than the romance at times. Visually, the drama was beautiful and calm, which really fit the tone.

The plot and romcom writing were pretty generic and had noticeable holes, but the emotional moments helped balance that out. Some of the most meaningful scenes weren’t even romantic, especially the conversations where emotions were acknowledged rather than fixed.

I also really liked the second couple. even though their storyline needed better development. What started as something casual turned into a clear, intentional choice, and that certainty meant a lot to me.

Not perfect, and probably would’ve been stronger ending at episode 10, but still an unexpectedly thoughtful watch.

the most wholesome show ever

I’m so glad a friend forced me to watch this. big fan now. And please how do I find an Izaya in my life?

it was really wholesome to see them navigate this stage together and hear their perspectives and different experiences coming out and everything. I love how each one grew as a human regardless or romance or whatever and you can tell they all became pretty much a small family by the end.

Theo ly thing is that I wish the panelists would be sort of more involved in commentary here and there.

I think each episode showed a different side of them and by the end you sort of feel like part of their group too. I think I’ll be rooting for each of them u til the end.

this season goes to the panelists ?

I think this season was amazing, far better than previous ones. I loved the challenges and you could tell that they allowed everyone to be more honest and direct.

I can also tell that Mina was obviously exploited as a way to keep users engaged somehow. Andyes she was the “villain” but also girl common…

all the couples that came out of this season are super cute and I do wish them the best. still we need justice for my girl Mingee she deserves better and for Igeon, thank god for the reunion is all I can say.

but tbh this season was for the panelists. they did NOT hold back with their responses and their reactions. I will never get over the “evil spirit is moving” line. I totally lost it HAHAHA. I know eventually they had to issue an apology (not needed tbh) but I hope they get to keep this level of unhinged response going forward because it was pure gold.
