Happy of the End

ハッピー・オブ・ジ・エンド ‧ Drama ‧ 2024
Both stories show the bleak side of life and the people trying to survive in the midst of it poverty and crime.

Both are dark, gritty portrayal of two messed up individuals in a mafia-esque setting which touches on sex work and the plight of the poor and the downtrodden. Both follows two people as they try to hold onto each other despite their circumstances trying to tear them apart.

While Double Mints is more about obsession and is a lot darker than Happy of the End, the latter is more subtle and understanding in treating its characters. Happy of the End, though portrays all the hardships and bleakness of the characters' lives, still focuses on hope, will to survive, and well, more positive stuff. Double Mints on the other hand is downright dark, tragic, and portrays violence and sexual abuse on a very disturbing scale. They are similar in certain themes, but also very different in the overall vibe.

Happy of the End is BL themed while Call Boy is not. Both films detail the dangerous and dark work of being a call boy in Japan.

Both are darker romances between two men with traumatic pasts

Both feature sudden cohabitation, where one refuses to leave the other's home, leading to them living together and getting closer

Both have a main character who is very depressed at the beginning but slowly regains the will to live after meeting the love interest

Same dark vibes and they are both Japanese bl's. In both series characters have a rough childhood/past and they become something they don't want to. They both have troubled main characters.

Both are dark BL dramas with red flag love interests, broken families and toxic behaviour. There is some mystery and suspense about what the plot will be next as it gets increasingly dark. Happy of the End is a Japanese BL with a main couple while Secret Relationships is a Korean BL with 3 guys chasing after 1.

Both are BL dramas that's a bit toxic whereby one character bullies the other and they have a co-dependent relationship.

Both start off with a love interest literally found in the trash. Said love interest then moves in with the person who finds them. They also both feature protagonists who have or do sleep with people for housing.

Both series are dark and you feel the misery throughout. Two young men take care of each other when they have no one else and their parents fail them. They eventually fall in love. Both Gray shelter and Happy of the end have a happy/hopeful ending. Happy of the end has more trigger warnings and traumatic things that happen.

Both feature protagonists who used to be sex workers. They have themes of loneliness and trying to overcome their past.

You have to appreciate or maybe just recognize how beautiful love stories can also come from darkness. I don’t necessarily have enough information to exactly make the correlation between these two series, but the vibes are definitely there. Finding healing after trauma would be anyone’s wish, for the one to follow the other. People can break you, but others can also help heal you.

-Japanese BLs
-Give off similar vibes and emotions to the watcher
-Both are realistic in a sense at the main leads forest love goes off to marry a women and live a “normal” life leaving the main lead behind.
