I've seen this plot way too many times
Honestly, I was loving the movie until the ML confessed, but then jokingly, I remembered movies I'd seen before, where after a confession something tragic inevitably happens, one of the leads has to leave (which 90% is the ML from my own watching experience), then the one left is all like I never loved you, I hate you, whatever, they cut contact. Cue a few years pass, they reunite in the last 5 mins of movie, and Happily Ever After. I wish they didn't have to do this exact formula to bring issues in the plot, It just feels monotonous, as soon as this exact thing started happening, my mind disconnected from the movie, and I just couldn't enjoy the last 25 minutes of movie, I skipped a few frames till I reached the ending, as expected, the same thing. It's not that I don't like clichés or anything like that, often I'm the first to support them, but it feels a bit lazy for these movies to always do this (clearly, it's not all movies, but I've seen enough with this formula to recognize a pattern), with no true meaning behind it, not character development, closure of existing problems, or introspection. It's just for te closure of the movie, with nothing important in it to make it relevant to the characters. I don't know, the movie that had me excited and even gushing for the characters at the start, left a bitter taste in my mouth, which drastically impacted my overall view of the movie. Was this review helpful to you?
THE CUTEST MOVIE EVER
why was this the cutest movie ever 😭 it felt like such a warm hug. and honestly I was kind of skeptical after hearing about the plot because it's been done bajillion of times and like even in 2025 curly hair is a problem to be solved?? but I'm so happy I was wrong because the movie was so amazing. it's one of those movies you'd rewatch to feel something, the ROM coms you just put on yk. I don't know I just love it. the female lead was so cute and the male lead was also so adorable. I also loved the second lead I don't think he was a lead but whtv because of the actor. it's just an amazing movie. Was this review helpful to you?

General Thoughts
I'm not going to lie, I have seen the cover of this show so many times on Netflix and just skipped over it because I saw it was a movie. I literally said in my head, how can a 2hr long movie capture emotional depth, humor, and romance in the way that dramas do? Well, today, I decided to sit down and just watch it. Boy, let me tell you, was I impressed. Now, was this the best thing I've ever watched? No. But was it good enough that it left an impact and I'm glad I watched it, yes.Because it's 2 hours long, there are not many big comments I have, but first off, I just love the male lead. He is such a green flag and always supported the female lead from the first day that they met. I love how relatable this movie is regarding our childhood and youth. There are going to be ups and downs with school, family, and friends. This movie encompasses many struggles that we may go through, but also the good times that we all go through as well. I loved how the symbol of her hair being something that restricted her freedom and beauty turned into a symbol of her personality, boldness, and character. That is all due to the ML. He never once made her feel uncomfortable or feel like she has to change her hair for him. That is the best part about him, he just makes her feel at ease. A lot of the times, we romanticize relationships into being something so exciting and heartthrobbing. Now, don't get me wrong, it can be, however it can also be something so simple. This is exactly how Love Untangled portrayed relationships and I loved it. There was no miscommunication, just simple navigation through the early stages of a first love.
Side note, another symbol that I resonated with a lot was the paper cranes. At first, the FL made them for someone else she liked and the ML helped her with that. However, once the big confession came, the ML ended up making a whole jar for the FL herself. That kind of exchange truly shows the understanding and comfort that they bring each other. Also, I'm a little bit impartial because I love making paper stars, so hey, maybe one day.
No, but the only critique that I have to add is that the ending did feel a little rushed. I wished we would've got to see more depth into the struggles with the ML and his family. Then, all the time that he was gone, we got none of those scenes. Only when he came back, did we understand that they ended up together.
Last side note, I realized that like all youth dramas will have some type of beach scene with some type of friend group. Is this like a common symbol or setting used in all dramas or is it just one big coincidence? And for some reason, the beach scene usually happens to be in the winter which is kind of counterintuitive.

Cha Woo Min ?
The movie came out. I got the energy I was expecting. The movie turned out just the way I thought it would, and honestly, I enjoyed it as much as I hoped I would. If you want to have a good time, I definitely recommend watching it.CHA WOO MIN was, once again, really amazing. Actually, he was in the second male lead role, but despite that, he didn’t appear much. When I first learned he was the second male lead, I thought his role might be bigger, but it was actually limited. I think the amount of screen time he got was just right. He portrayed Kim Hyeon really well. From the script, I couldn’t quite understand Kim Hyeon’s feelings. Did he really love Se-ri? That’s something I couldn’t figure out.
The film had a strong drama vibe. Actually, you could already tell that from the poster. I liked that it felt this way because I don’t usually watch this kind of drama, but since it was a movie, you can start and finish it quickly, which I enjoy. In my opinion, the biggest flaw of the movie was that even though it was set in 1999, it didn’t carry that atmosphere at all. You couldn’t even tell from the phones; I only realized when they showed the year in the film, and I was honestly surprised. Since I wasn’t expecting the movie to be too serious, I just wanted to watch it for fun, and I really enjoyed it. If you want to clear your head, it’s worth watching. I watched it for Woo Min, and I came for him. Enjoy watching!

Fun and cute little watch
It was obviously very predictable and full of typical teen-romance tropes but I still enjoyed it, especially the beginning. The end reminded me a little bit of twenty-five twenty-one, with the phone booth calls and then even her hair was puffy too, she also liked reading comics, the whole 90s setting, and the male love interest was also a bit older… it was very very similar just without all the fencing and in movie format.
it was ok and at least it had a happy ending which obviously was one of the differences from twenty-five, twenty-one.

the personality of the FL is SO ADORABLE
This movie is something else. There is nothing so special about the plot, but sometimes we really need such movies, and it's rare to watch such ones with really great acting, a beautiful OST, and overall production. I really liked how they merged the shore sounds; it helped me to relax, It's simple, sweet, and lighthearted for a break from the heavy plots of K-drama.Was this review helpful to you?
warm and youthful
tbh I had very high expectations from this because it gave me 20th century girl vibe but I believe this was beautiful in itself there's no need for comparison.it's a classic cute high school romance with a happy ending and filled with beach scenes, trips, small town, a small friends group, all with youthful energy. the way both the main characters got into a relationship was beautiful.
no melodrama pure innocent of high schoolers.
a really good movie if you just wanna watch something fun, fluffy

A sea of emotions and nostalgia
This is a sweet movie of friendships, hardship, and I guess a bunch of ships in a sea of emotions.Life is not always easy, while the story starts out more or less fluffy and youth, puppy love ish... It does take a dive in the depths of the ocean.
Our leads do a phenomenal job conveying each and every emotion, they broke my heart several time and offered a back story that I guess had to be told. The contrast between the youthful, innocent cheer and the darkness is done really well. It is constantly there lurking behind without robbing the youthfulness of the story.
A great combination, well executed and with gorgeous cinematography and just enough hints of the past to make this old lady smile. .

To be young and in love in the late 90s
I just love youth love stories set in the 90s/early 2000s so much. Something about the nostalgic music, the pagers, the comic books and tape cassettes always tugs something in my heart.I loved this. It was funny and nothing too complex, but sometimes that is more than enough. The friendship and portrayal of first love were the highlights, and the cast was great. I almost forgot that Gong Myung is in his thirties now. He is such a natural with that face and the acting. I have loved Shin Eun Soo since Twinkling Watermelon, and it was as if she and Ha Yi Chan swapped roles. She was so chaotic here in comparison to Twinkling Watermelon, and it just shows her range and versatility as an actress. Can't wait to see more of her. And my dearest So I from Single's Inferno, she's such a great actress, and it's so good to see her in more and more support roles. I hope she can get even bigger roles; she's so refreshing to watch on screen.
If you loved the nostalgic vibes from 2521 and Twinkling Watermelon, this is for you.

Sweet and heartfelt love story
I thought Love Untangled would be just a fun, sweet little high school romance movie. That’s how it started, but the FL was charming even though see was overly fixated on the popular boy in her class — and finding a way to straighten her curly hair. She becomes friends with the new boy in her school, who joins her group of fiends.
The movie had some heartfelt moments with her friends, an unexpected situation with the ML mother and a hidden journal that brought a tear to my eye.

Overhype to the core
I left kdrama world for so long and decided to give this a try bcs everyone been raving about it but really it is a boring movie. Plot was basic, but the cast line up was even more disappointing. Nobody had a charming persona or good looking. I think the korean entertainment industry will loose a lot to china in this generation. I only like the accent they used. Was this review helpful to you?
