HEAVY THICK MAKE-UP

First thing we notice on this drama is the heavy thick make-up on all actresses and actors. So heavy we can see the different color of their contour on nose line, good thing these guys are professional they still convey emotion in their acting through all that face cover. This is the second season of Flourish Peony with different title, I like the first one as it was new idea of screen-writing, the 2nd one though kind of boring. We knew the basic concept of the story-line, knew each characters, knew the villain - it's just the extension of what 1st season has already laid out. Of course, we want to know the end of drama but continuations episodes with no much differences. My best guess is this drama actually 56 ep total but made into 2 division because of China's regulation. But if they don't cut into 2 seasons, it might be just make sense because audience still be excited with it's moment, before losing interest after a year gap. At least that's what I thought.

All disaster happens to He Wei Fang (Yang Zi) and Jiang Chang Yang (Li Xian) are the result of Prince Ning's family and his minion's actions. Like they shouldn't see anywhere else, it's them Prince Ning did it (or under his order) or his daughter or son in law, they should have just prepared themselves when they bump problems - don't look anyone else. Love obsessiveness Liu Chang towards Wei Fang, Li You Zhen towards Liu Chang is tiring...I think I am over them. It isn't me, I mean when someone told him/her 'not interested' can we just move on already rather forcing it...or worse kill or intent for destruction. Ep 10 On Jiang Chang Yang begin to reveal his declaration serving the country and his allegiance to the Emperor, so of course He Wei Fang support his mission being a good wife she is. The two gradually develop a secret love. After a near-death experience, the two work together to put down a rebellion, and both retreat into the world of heaven and earth.

I think the guy Tu Song Yan (Prince Ning) is good, I meant I hate his character. He embodied greed and ambition, he think himself is more deserving as Emperor than his little brother. He uses his royal status to get away shady things, carefully loyal in front of the Emperor but instigate nuisances. Tu Song Yang is usually play the nicest guy (Go Ahead, Meet Yourself) but in this drama, his appearance totally change and dubiously malicious character. His daughter is not much different. The more episode progress the more I feel this drama is kind of preachy, beautiful perfect Saint He Wei Fang, she doesn't have flaws no mistakes no wrong no slips. Like everybody adores & love her, everybody praises, adulate her, so generous so kind. Bleh...

I think Yang Zi and Li Xian are compatible, they're close to age, so comfortable to each other. They're looking good together. Oh, I dropped this drama. Bleh.....she's a self religious...enough with her holiness He Wei Fang.

Proof That a Second Season Can Be Just as Magical

Some sequels struggle to live up to their first season. In the Name of Blossom wasn't one of them.

What immediately stood out to me was how effortlessly funny it remained. The witty banter between Jiang Changyang and Mu Dan is still one of the show's greatest strengths. While Season 1 thrived on their constant clashes, Season 2 lets their conversations evolve naturally as their relationship deepens. Their chemistry is just as entertaining, but it carries a different warmth that made me smile every time they shared the screen.

The romance was easily my favorite part.

This is the kind of slow-burn romance that truly rewards your patience. Every meaningful glance, every teasing conversation, and every quiet moment feels earned because the series takes its time building the relationship instead of rushing it. By the time the emotional payoff arrives, I wasn't thinking, "Finally, they kissed." I was thinking, "Finally. They both deserve this." That's what made those moments so satisfying.

Another aspect I appreciated was the way the drama handled its characters. Even the antagonists aren't simply portrayed as evil for the sake of the story. Their motivations, flaws, and circumstances make them feel like people shaped by the choices they've made, and I found myself understanding them even when I disagreed with them. I always enjoy stories that remind us that villains are often made rather than born.

My only criticism is that the ending felt a little shorter than I wanted. After spending so much time with these characters, I would've loved a little more time to simply enjoy where their journeys led them. Even so, the conclusion stayed true to the heart of the story and left me with a genuine sense of closure.

Overall, In the Name of Blossom delivered everything I hoped for: heartfelt romance, clever humor, memorable characters, and an emotional payoff that made the long journey worthwhile. It's the kind of story that reminds me why I love slow-burn romances in the first place.

It’s absolute psychopathic writing. There is no other way to describe it.

So this one is 24 episodes at approximately 45 minutes and if I thought flourished peony was bad this sequel is probably worse.

In the writing of In the Name of Blossom, the creators have confused "moral superiority" with "total lack of self-preservation." They are using a tired, outdated trope to keep the plot moving, and it fails for several reasons.

Writers often think a "perfect" FL must never descend to the level of the villains. By making her find excuses for them, they try to prove she has a "big heart." In reality, it just makes her an enabler who is responsible for the next victim the villain hurts.
If she actually finished off villains like the Flower Guild leader, teribble stepmother or the Princess when she had the chance, the show would end in 10 episodes. Her "mercy" is a cheap tool to ensure the villains can return to frame her again in the next arc.
I also understand that there is a traditional cultural trope where maintaining social harmony and showing "forgiveness" is seen as the ultimate female strength. However, applying this to people who are literally whipping you is a logic failure that feels like gaslighting the audience.

In the first season, she came across as a relatively smart businesswoman. In this sequel, her IQ has been lowered so the Male Lead has a reason to exist. If she were competent and ruthless, she wouldn't need him to "save" her every three episodes.
The whole thing was a complete mess, from the concubine trying to poison her and being let off. To the princess trying to burn her alive and throwing a tantrum with the writers playing sad music for us to try and feel sorry for her when she was literally trying to kill a load of people five minutes before.. to finally the inexplicable scene where the 2ML goes to the ML’s mansion and literally breaks down the wall but it’s only asked to apologise. He doesn’t receive any punishment he doesn’t even have to compensate him for breaking his wall.. property rights seem to have gone out of the window and the whole thing just descended into a complete mess.

boa, mas não no nivel da primeira temporada

sem sombra de dúvidas, a mu dan continua sendo a melhor personagem feminina de 2025 até agora. eu amo essa mulher, meu deus. acompanhar a tragédia dela foi simplesmente incrível. a primeira temporada foi tão boa que, sinceramente, eu esperava mais dessa segunda. não foi tão excelente quanto a anterior, mas ainda assim eu gostei. tudo foi finalizado direitinho, de forma bem amarrada.

amei a química do nosso casal, eles entregaram muito. teve sim alguns momentos mais chatos e monótonos, e eu mudaria uma coisa ou outra no roteiro, mas no geral, foi uma boa continuação e valeu a pena assistir.

Eu tinha uma expectativa gigante para In The Name Of Blossom porque a primeira parte (Flourish Peony) é impecável e se tornou um dos meus C-dramas de época favoritos, e a continuação prometia dar o fechamento que essa história e seus personagens mereciam. Nos primeiros episódios, eu estava completamente absorvida e devorava todos os capítulos!

O ritmo da trama seguiu sendo envolvente com toda a tensão causada pelo enredo dos conflitos que ocorriam na corte e o slow burn entre Mudan e Jiang Chang Yang brilhou mais e ganhou um desenvolvimento (finalmente). A química do casal é indiscutível. Mudan passou por uma ressignificação de sua jornada individual e eu achei muito bonito como ela continuou tão resiliente e forte nessa segunda parte da história, apesar das tantas dificuldades. Ela é uma das melhores personagens que já vi! Os secundários também marcaram e deixaram um legado lindo. O cenário e toda a produção da história se mantiveram perfeitos.

Com o passar dos episódios, começaram a surgir algumas frustrações para mim, no entanto. Acho que eu mudaria alguns desfechos e acontecimentos que não me agradaram. Fiquei chateada, pois criei tantas expectativas mas parecia, em alguns momentos, que a história da segunda parte era tão desconectada da primeira e muita coisa não me parecia coerente... Mesmo assim, eu não posso afirmar que In The Name Of Blossom foi ruim. Essa história vai ficar comigo por um bom tempo, porque, mesmo com os descontentamentos, ela foi inesquecível.

Second part of Flourished Peony and one of the premieres I was most looking forward to 🙌✨
I have to say a lot of things about this drama... overall I really liked it, a well-made female-central drama and if I'm honest, one of the best I've seen 👏
Yang Zi is an actress I met thanks to this project, and I know I'll pay more attention to her work in the future.
Mudan became one of my favorite female characters... a woman who fought against all fate, always in a dignified and honest way ❤️
A story that takes us back to a time when women in the business world were non-existent, but she achieved it with so much effort and hard work.
Jiang, a charismatic but tough character... had a very good and mature personal growth ✨
The chemistry between the leads was already magical in the first part, and in this second part, the level rose to 100% ❤️
In part thanks to Yang Zi and Lixian's incredible personal friendship in real life 🫶
Yes, I think that in terms of plot, the first part was a little more interesting, but overall there were 56 well-constructed chapters with a great message ✨
I took off some points for the villains' performance, which in my opinion was very null, it didn't meet my expectations
But I will definitely recommend this drama to everyone ✨

O roteiro dessa segunda parte foi inferior ao da primeira parte. Lembro que quando fiz o comentário sobre o drama anterior, falei que o drama, se fosse bem finalizado e não deixasse pontas soltas, seria um dez pelas atuações, mas a continuação foi desastrosa em termos de roteiro. Ao assistir esse drama, lembrei-me do drama que terminei de assistir há poucos dias e o roteiro dele era, exatamente, uma sátira aos roteiros que desafiam a paciência e a inteligência de quem assiste. Não sei o que as roteiristas pensaram ao criar um imperador tão patético (já vi imperadores matarem pessoas leais, por uma simples desconfiança, mas um imperador ser refém por vários anos de um irmão desleal e sempre ver seus planos frustrados para se livrar das amarras impostas, nunca tinha visto e foi uma experiencia desagradável), personagens tão pouco gostáveis (Liu Chang era um personagem que tinha potencial para ajudar a virar o jogo, pois, inicialmente, ele era um estudioso que queria prestar o exame e ser um oficial leal e justo, ele sofreu com os pais e, depois, nas mãos do príncipe Ning, mas, depois de tudo, tornou-se um personagem asqueroso), e um romance morno. Nesse roteiro pouco palatável, o diretor produz cenas ridículas, como a cena em Mu Dan esfaqueia Jiang Chang Yang e ele continua falando com a faca enterrada no peito, não consigo imaginar qual era a ideia do diretor, mas parecia cena de comédia barata, ou, a cena em que Liu Chang é assassinado na rua e a princesa deixa o corpo dele caído no chão e sai andando como se nada tivesse acontecido, também há um equívoco na produção das cenas que deveriam ser emocionantes, como o reencontro de Mu Dan e Jiang Chang Yang , depois dele aparentar ter morrido, mas a cena ficou muito sem graça. As ações desempenhadas pela protagonista são interessantes (ajudar outras mulheres a não dependerem somente do casamento, ensinar a trocar mercadorias e serviços nas vilas, etc.). O excesso de ações bem sucedidas dos vilões torna o drama cansativo.
As atuações, no geral, são boas. Yang Zi dispensa comentários, pois sempre entrega uma atuação primorosa. Wei Zhe Ming conseguiu transmitir todas as emoções de um personagem asqueroso, nunca imaginei que ele pudesse dar vida a um vilão, mas o ator mostrou que consegue transitar em personagens bem diferentes.
A música é agradável, principalmente, a música interpretada pela cantora Tan Wei Wei.
