OVERVIEW

When the laws and guidelines controlling the uniformity of schools and colleges loses, power and influence take it course to reigning in school premises, bullying in all forms takes it's hold upon teacher and students, gangs and other bodies (aside from schools bodies) distracts the learning process of students, drugs serves as the new habit to learn faster and easier, being administered by parents, the minister of education assembles a force consisting of four, to implement and execute and good learning school life, or correct and change the current school life reforming the school back to the normal school life

LIKES.

The drama kept me really engaged in the pacing of 10 episodes, having different schools cases in each eps was something that had you looking forward to something new in the next EPS, in the total of 10 eps, it had 10 cases and I enjoyed each of the case, some case made my blood boil, some were impactful to the viewers, and some were fun but all stayed true in making me engaged.

Love how it was shown their isn't only one form of bullying, their are actually different forms (for one I never knew about that ,maybe cuz I haven't experienced bullying), that's why I found it really impactful, some bully's need not to touch you before they can be called bully, you could be bullied psychologically and also affects one mental state, like the ninth case were the student was made a human WiFi and his account being used to do things illegal at his own cost, by the bullies, without the use of physical violence and several cases of that kind, it was an anguish seeing this, but it was realistic.

The show sheds a skin that it doesn't just akin to student bullying fellow student it could be more than that, like case 3,4,5, (3), when we had a student with an streaming account of 600 followers, ruining her teachers state, leading one to suicide and the other to mental decline, that was a showdown case of cyber bullying, (4), having a teacher blocking all studying space that a student should have (private teachers e.t.c) and also comiting malpractice for the rich, that was a real mental bullying, he left the student restless and out of character (in a bad way), (5) a parents violating the teachers acts, pestering a teacher with calls, messages and even following her up to her insta account and sexually harassing her dressing code for the well being and okay state of her shy, timid, crybaby 5 yrs old boy, the teachers treats well enough, better than most students in his class and any grievance the son has sage take it up to the teacher (doesn't she know teachers need a rest in life) and she even stalked the teacher to her home, made a malicious false statement against the teacher, affecting the teacher psychologically causing attempted murder, the woman deserved worst punishment than that.

Following that, the implementation of each punishment was good, it was like what you you sow you reap and I actually enjoyed every part of it, though I felt some of those bully's and offenders has been left off lightly and it hasn't been delved in well for some cases.

I loved their performance, they were really good, seeing Hwa Jin performing his noteworthy slaps at the ending felt precious to me, having the fiery and hot tempered Han Rim shout and talk in some high notes was a thrilling performance from Jin Ki Joo and having her dress up as some college kid who hasn't experienced bullying and has to keep her head down always wasn't in my notes for that take, she can't just portray those characters with that high tempered personality, it was well meant for our calm and loser looking Geun Dae in glasses, P.O held his performance calmly while being the most calm in the team, seeing him in suit at the end was something big and unusual for his personality, but I loved it and loved the main anchor and planner of team Gang Seok and it was endearing while we see him let loose of his calm character, and that ending punch, having the cameras on him was precious of his character behaviour, that was the first time he left being wild on cameras.
I like the entirety of the team they were hilarious fun and exhilarating.

DISLIKES.
Just few dislikes and they felt quite personal.

Some cases made me feel anguish and pain, I believe it's because of how they were realistically portrayed, having a mother send her child to death (forcing him to study since young, giving him half plate of what I eat at home, depriving him of a normal student sleep time and feeding him drugs that could kill him mentally and physically), cause of passing CSAT and having to go to meds school, and many other cases like this made my heart pins with anguish

I felt some of those who have bullied and wronged other didn't get their punishment as justified, having that woman down that to her child and she didn't even repent for her sins wasn't great with me, I didn't feel satisfy with their punishment, the show never really cared much of showing the punishments (having one case each eps feels short for severe punishment), it's understandable but I think am the only one who care.

I think the villains character embodiment was too good that I actually felt the urge to see him in a more suffer able pain than the ending he actually got but then again the show did something right with the villain, but he deserved to die in my justification (only me).

FINAL THOUGHTS
Teach you a lesson is a show that is thought provocating, simple, fun, emotional, creates anguish and its a impactful in our today's society, unlike many high school dramas, I go into watching for fun and fights, it showed their could be something more to the fun a and fights you seek, showing physical bullying is just a one dimensional thought of mine, something is greater than being physically bullied, and it was actually impactful in different ways.

It teaches both teachers and students and also parents different lessons, it's just for them to take a lesson with what's going on in their current life's .

I didn't expect the romance between Han Rim and Geun Dae to blossom while watching the series, I was readily rooting for them, but I need more of them, than what was actually given to us, would love to see them as a couple.

No boring episodes!!!!!??

It’s actually my first time writing a review for a drama on this site. I just couldn’t help it this drama is so perfect… I heard it’s the same universe as study group so it makes the fighting scenes even more enjoyable. At first seeing reels and tweets about the drama I genuinely thought it was basically about getting revenge on student bullies but I love how they touched literally every part of bullying in education in such a short episode run.
Ntm it’s also my first time watching the male lead in a drama and I’ve honestly become a fan. I genuinely love all the characters. l personally loves whatever was wrong with Jin Kin Joo in this drama too😭..
The drama is definitely a 10/10 for me and I must say I’m in love with Netflix original series run this days.
Not to make any negative statements on my review but SK would try to cancel everything besides their pedophile

Just a bully-beating show? No, it goes way deeper and the whole cast crushed it

I literally sat down and binged all 10 episodes in one go without stopping, it’s that addictive.
I started it purely for the catharsis of watching arrogant school bullies get absolutely humbled. And yeah, the action scenes completely delivered, it’s so satisfying watching the MLs pull up and give these kids a reality check.

But what actually shocked me is that the show isn't just about basic school drama. It goes way deeper and completely calls out how broken the whole school system can be.
It exposes the insane, suffocating academic pressure put on students, the corrupt school boards that cover up terrible stuff just to protect their reputation, and the nightmare parents who only care about grades and completely ruin their kids' mental health. It basically shows how the system itself breeds these monsters.
The main guy isn’t just fighting bad students, he’s literally taking a sledgehammer to the whole institution. It gets pretty dark and definitely makes you think about how messed up society can be.

The acting is insane; not only do the main leads completely crush it, but literally everyone on screen, even the actors playing the bullies and the unhinged parents, deliver an amazing performance that makes the whole thing feel super real.

If you want a thriller that has actual substance and doesn't just surface-level handle serious issues, you need to watch this. 10/10 binge.

Anticipated adaptation but did not disappoint

As a huge fan of the original manhwa and the Blue String Universe, I went into this adaptation with high expectations, and thankfully, it delivered.

It still hurts knowing that the original manhwa got axed because it remains one of my favorite school-action series ever. Among all the Blue String Universe titles, this one always stood out to me because of its unique take on justice, bullying, and the adults willing to step in when the system fails. Seeing it receive a live-action adaptation felt both exciting and bittersweet.

The biggest highlight was undoubtedly Kim Mu Yeol as Na Hwa Jin. From the moment he appeared on screen, he embodied everything I loved about the character. The charisma, intimidating presence, confidence, and unwavering sense of justice were all there. As someone who has read plenty of manhwa adaptations, I can honestly say this is one of my favorite live-action portrayals of a manhwa character. He didn't just play Na Hwa Jin; he felt like he walked straight out of the panels.
Jin Ki Joo as Im Han Rim also deserves praise. While I wouldn't necessarily call her portrayal a completely accurate depiction of the character from the manhwa, she still delivered a strong performance. She brought her own charm and energy to the role, making the character enjoyable in her own way.

What I appreciated most was how the drama stayed true to the spirit of the source material. The themes of school violence, justice, and protecting vulnerable students remained intact, while the action sequences were engaging and satisfying. It captured the essence of why fans fell in love with the story in the first place.

As with any adaptation, there are a few changes and compromises, but overall, this is one of the better manhwa-to-live-action adaptations I've watched. For fans of the Blue String Universe, it feels like a rewarding tribute to a story that deserved much more time to shine.

Teach You A Lesson (Get Schooled) – Review

Based on the Korean webtoon Get Schooled, Teach You A Lesson resonated with me because I experienced something similar when I taught at a Korean English academy in Alabang, Muntinlupa, in 2015. The academy had Korean students ranging from kindergarten children to college students who were there to learn English.

Like in the series, some of the younger students were noisy, disruptive, and wanted to do things their own way. As a new teacher, I initially struggled to maintain discipline. Eventually, the school administrator scolded me and told me that I had to take control of the classroom.

After that, I adopted a tougher but fair approach. I set clear rules, enforced discipline consistently, and the students gradually fell in line. Watching the protagonist handle unruly students reminded me of that experience. While the situations in the drama are obviously more exaggerated and action-oriented than real life, the underlying message - that a teacher needs authority, consistency, and the confidence to lead the classroom - felt familiar to me.

I looked into the original Get Schooled webtoon and read the controversial Chapter 125. The chapter features a half-Ethiopian, half-Korean student who bullies others, and a teacher uses the N-word toward the student during a confrontation. The chapter sparked widespread backlash, with many readers criticizing it as racist. Following the controversy, some pages were removed or altered on certain platforms, making the original version difficult to find today. The incident became one of the most discussed controversies surrounding the webtoon.

The series explores themes of school violence, bullying, and the challenges teachers face when dealing with students who ignore rules or exploit a system that sometimes leaves educators powerless. Although some methods portrayed in the story are dramatized for entertainment and wouldn't be appropriate in real educational settings, it raises interesting questions about discipline, accountability, and the balance between protecting students and empowering teachers to maintain order.

I also noticed a few scenes that seem to draw inspiration from The Dark Knight (2008). The main antagonist's ability to manipulate events even while imprisoned reminded me of the Joker during his interrogation scene, where he continues to stay several steps ahead despite being behind bars. Another similarity is the scene where Hwajin saves the female teacher from falling, which resembles Batman rescuing Rachel Dawes after she was let go by The Joker and falls from a building. I also noticed another scene that reminded me of The Dark Knight (2008). When Hwajin attempts to ram the student responsible for his fiancée's death with his vehicle, only to be stopped by the Education Minister's car blocking the way, it felt similar to the scene where an assailant tries to run down Coleman Reese, but Bruce Wayne intervenes by using his own vehicle to block the attack. Another parallel I noticed with The Dark Knight (2008) is the underlying theme of seeking justice - or, in some cases, vengeance - after the tragic loss or suffering of a loved one caused by abuse or wrongdoing (Hwajin and Bruce Wayne). Both stories feature characters whose actions are driven by traumatic events, though they ultimately take different paths in pursuing their goals.

Jin Ki Joo reminds me of Tuesday Vargas' looks. The irony is while Tuesday tolerates rebel students of the Philippine government in real life as they were radicalized by communists, Ki Joo as Han Rim is straightening students in this series to be good citizens of South Korea.

If you're looking for a school action drama with social commentary, Teach You A Lesson offers an engaging adaptation of Get Schooled while sparking discussion about the realities of classroom discipline and bullying.

ITS PERFECT TILL THE END

Ik it has some flaws but the main motive or the plot that is being depicted throughout the series is great... I mean school/college bullying, harassment has been going on for years and to make a drama based on this particular side is pretty amazing and skill worth... Now comes to the casting and their performances, the ML and the his FIL who is also the Education Minister did an excellent job with the ML owning the screen whenever he is shown. The SFL who is considered here as as the FL is also great with her performances but the SML is a bit down for me... I don't know if he is written like that only or that cast could have been a better one, but nevertheless I loved everyone and the chemistry between each of the member of ERPB was just too good... And also all the other casts who gave a cameo in each of the episodes were too nice especially all the bullies did an amazing job... I mean your blood just boils every time you see them on screen... I just loved it and I would rate it high... and one thing that is the yearning love of the ML for his love is too emotional and it can make you cry...

The ultimate vigilante masterpiece. Satisfyingly brutal from start to finish! (10/10)

I officially completed it, and it is an absolute 10/10 masterclass.
​Teach You a Lesson is a fast-paced masterpiece that perfectly scratches that justice itch, especially when it comes to raising awareness about juvenile crime and school bullying. It exposes the frustrating loophole where underage villains exploit the law to get away with gangs, drugs, and horrific crimes, hiding behind their minor status like a shield.
​Watching Na Hwa Jin put them in their place and beat them into submission is the ultimate dopamine hit. Every single antagonist who deserved to be bitch-slapped was dealt with in the most satisfying way possible. Seeing these characters finally face brutal, real consequences is pure therapy.
​Structurally, this show is brilliant. The pacing is insane from the very first minute to the final frame. The writing is so efficient that it packs a punch and covers storylines in a single episode that would normally take other dramas a whole 16-episode arc to resolve—it is all killer, no filler.
​The finale left me completely obsessed. That final scene of the last episode definitely teased something brewing between the female lead and the second male lead! They showed major signs that they might already have—or will develop—real feelings for each other. Because of that dynamic, I am fully expecting a Season 2 by next year. We need more angst, an even more badass comeback, and a fresh batch of evil villains for them to dismantle.
​Huge kudos to the screenwriter, director, and the entire cast for delivering this absolute piece of art. No matter where you're watching from, this is a powerful, must-watch drama that shows exactly why the younger generation needs to be guided onto the right path.
