won't be spoling anything for anyone reading this review, but trust me this series is not like other BLs , in the time where there's so much saturation in the entertainment industry, boss kuno's work stand out the most with his new coming of age series GELBOYS. I'm obsessed with this series, the raw emotions of the generation, the cinematography, the visuals, the sets, the acting, direction is top notch and one of it's kind ! trust me when i say this should be in ur must watch series ! it got a moderate pace build up so dont get bored because as u progress, so does ur excitement, surprises and yes the mess this show got resonates with most of the genz. i won't say much or else i could spoil the things, not revealing any plot or names, but i assure u will be obsessed with this show !Was this review helpful to you?
you either LOVE it or hate it…
I honestly had 0 expectations for this and only convinced myself to watch it bcs of the OST. But when I tell you it was one of the best decisions I’ve taken, I really mean it.Most of the bad reviews you’ll see will tell you it doesn’t have a unique or interesting storyline, but in my opinion, that’s the beauty of it. I’m not saying that it’s boring but it’s not really something new either, in my opinion it’s more than that.
The characters and their stories feel so real, you even get to see yourself in them. And don’t let me get started on the way they portray social media, it feels so on point and doesn’t feel forced or weird.
Just give it a chance and see for yourself whether you’ll love it or hate it.

A Show Destined to Outlast the Longest BL Ship
Two decades ago there was a cop show called The Wire that told its story on its own terms about the decline of an American city, and the growing distrust of institutions, all of which have played out just as the show had warned. Today college courses are still taught about that series. While obviously completely different, Gel. Boys is way more than a Thai BL genre show. It’s a cultural touchdown about the messiness of teenage years in ane the age digital superfluousness. The more connected we become more disconnected we are. Gel Boys told its story unflinchingly and on its own terms through images and words not spoken.. You had to work to see the layers of the onion that Boss and his incredible crew and cast were pulling back Gel Boys makes you feel things and sometimes it’s uncomfortable. But it’s honest, cathartic, and truly a work of art. Put that show in a time capsule It will outlast the longest BL ship and remain relevant.Was this review helpful to you?
Horrible
This is literally about nothing. I can't believe this is even a series. Just terrible! I mean there is really no story line. It's almost as if an entire bunch of 17 yr olds filmed this. The main protagonists look like they are in there middle 20's and they are passing them off as school kids. Just wow. I just don't get it at all. They barely even have conversations with each other. i have love/hate relationship with Gelboys. i love how realistic and great it is, how it shows true teenage crush/love, how toxic relationships work and what is happening to a person who is in “ hot and cold “ situationship with someone. I LOVED the details, they are giving us informations without outright saying it (for example time passing with grown nails, ect.) . On the other side i HATE how much my anxiety rises while I’m watching this BL, How angry i am because of Fourmod tossing his self respect aside and being desperate. He is lying to Chian and especially himself that he is fine with that kind of relationship with him, but in reality his eyes just lost its sparkle, he almost cried in front of Chian (Fourmod was breaking glass TikTok sound 🥲) I Hate watching him in this state. We will cry after second episode i think, it’s getting too messy. If you look at the poster closely you will see that Baabin is hugging Fourmod and has sad face, Fourmod and Chian are almost kissing. I originally thought that Chian and Bua were holding hands, but it can’t be Chians’s hand, they are standing too far from each other (or if they are than for me it means that he likes Fourmod and Bua at the same time). So im thinking that Baabin likes Fourmod, Bua likes someone else and Chian will get over Bua and will like Fourmod back. I know we are in good hands because of crew, so I’m not worrying about them messing up this series. (You can check out their work and you will know what i mean) i predict an open/sad ending, i can’t see them end up happy together. Just by the first episode alone, I am automatically hooked. With the Y2K vibe, punk accents, and a maintained realistic cinematic shot, I know these gelboys will have a refreshing effect on the BL scene. With Fou4Mod's guitar and faux cool-boy attitude and Chian's playboy subtlety, there's going to be a storm coming, and honey you best believe I WILL BE WAITING FOR IT!!!Was this review helpful to you?
More like a doco than a series…
I give this kudos for showing a slice in time with a BL feel. The doco style Warholesque/Westwood/Banksy feel is refreshing.Some of the acting is very obvious eg over glancing at each other so we know that your glancing at each other, Acting and story is getting better. Supporting actors particularly are strong.
Leon and Pj save this BL for me. Especially Pj, what a slow burning, intense, obvious yet subtle portayal of Baabin, I see great things for him as an actor.
Lacked emotional depth. Excellent production quality.

kinda perfect so far
I live for yearning and this high school accurate flirting is almost too realistic for comfort but I love that. also as an artistic reflection of early queer life and also youth culture it's ao on point. this feels like an indie film in the best possible way, I was utterly obsessed from the jump.can't wait to see the rest.

Mais uma obra do gênero de Boss Kuno perfeita, que trouxe emoção, conflitos, amores, incertezas, crítica social, sofrimento e tudo isso embalado na roupagem da adolescência moderna. Pode-se dizer que essa série é única na forma de abordar assuntos como sexualidade, relacionamentos, amizades, família e a autodescoberta. Confesso que inicialmente não estava me conectando ao enredo e personagens, estava achando um pouco rasa a narrativa, mas era o meu costume com BLs básicos e redondos. Onde já sabia o que esperar e o que ia acontecer, Gelboys vai na contramão disso tudo. Ele te instiga, traz reflexão, te incomoda, te dá uma overdose de sensações e você nunca sabe o que pode acontecer no próximo episódio. Porque a premissa da série é sobre a adolescência, fase em que tudo muda em um minuto, nada é constante, nada é certo, é uma fase de dúvidas, de medos, de emoções efêmeras e de sentimentos líquidos. Enalteço também a crítica social da série, que ficou disfarçada no BL, com o consumismo desenfreado, a dependência da internet (principalmente das redes sociais), os problemas psicológicos e afetivos na era digital e as tendências virais que ditam o comportamento de jovens, adolescentes e de suas famílias. Outro destaque da série é a moda, com referências urbanas, retrô e contemporâneas, tudo isso embalado com a decoração, customização e arte das unhas em gel. A música também foi outro destaque dessa série, trazendo uma mistura de ritmos da Tailândia e o pop internacional. Cenografia e fotografia impecáveis, com uma imersão no coração do centro comercial tailandês (Siam Square), point dos jovens e adolescentes do país, misturado a ancestralidade de uma Tailândia moderna e veloz. Minha nota não poderia ser outra do que 10, por todo o conjunto da obra e experiência imersiva que foi assistir essa série controversa, sensível, visceral e profunda.Recomendadíssimo ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Un viaje de ida a la cruda adolescencia
Está serie tocó hasta emociones que olvidé había sentido una vez, me provocó muchas cosas y es lo que más amo y odio de ella. Es extremadamente realista, a tal punto que por momentos me sentía como una espía en la vida de esos cuatro chicos. De las 3939 series de secundaria que habremos visto, ninguna cruza tal nivel de realismo de incluir los silencios incómodos, las conversaciones totalmente estúpidas. Estamos acostumbrados a que todo se vea deslumbrantemente lindo.. y falso. Y no solo me refiero al guión y en la forma tan realista de plantear cada escena, si no también en la trama misma, en el rumbo incómodo y duro de las historias, tan estúpido y hermoso como la realidad misma. De no ser por esto, está serie sería otra del montón porque el argumento no es nada nuevo "la vida de adolescentes que experimentan su vida amorosa", pero está tan distinguidamente contada que es imposible no conectar duramente con esta serie. Me provocó tantas cosas que ni se por donde empezar.La historia se situa desde el punto de vista directo de los personajes: Adolescentes confundidos, egoístas y enamorados. Nos hace descubrir cuatro puntos de vista distintos al punto de entender de alguna forma la estupidez humana, y sentirte identificado con ellos. Todos fuimos al menos uno de ellos en nuestra adolescencia, ese sentimiento de colapso, de emoción, de desconcierto, de miedo, esa estupidez y esa culpa es parte de crecer y es tan natural que, pese a lo cuestionable de sus actitudes, no terminas odiando a los personajes. Todo esto respetando la personalidad de cada quien y sin encasillarlos en los clásicos estereotipos que acostumbramos ver.
Es incómoda, es dramática, despierta sentimientos negativos como positivos y revive exactamente la montaña rusa que todos vivimos al dejar de ser niños, al enamorarnos por primera vez. Pero en esa incomodidad encuentra su fuerte, porque te interpela y te engancha, te sacude pero también te abraza. Me encantó demasiado está serie, la pasé bastante mal viéndola, pero demasiado bien al mismo tiempo, eso habla de lo bien que transmite CADA COSA.
Estéticamente es una belleza, literalmente los detalles hacen a la serie, desde los stickers, los mensajes, las personalidades de los personajes reflejadas en su habitación, sus uñas, literalmente una obra de arte el planteo estético tan cuidado que tiene, me quede absolutamente maravillada. Se siente tan realista, tan completa y tan única que no le cambiaría nada, porque pese a que hubo momentos que me desagradaron mucho, lograr transmitir sentimientos tan opuestos en el mismo minuto es parte del triunfo de esta serie que es arte, y como buena pieza de arte, es difícil de descifrar y llega a molestar en su complejidad. La ame y la odie, pero cuando la recuerdo solo pienso "lpm, que buena serie"

O melhor BL de 2025!
Pode parecer o famoso "clubismo" eu ter dado essas notas tão altas e falar sempre em alto e bom som que esse bl é um dos melhores que eu já vi, mas a culpa não é minha! Culpe o Boss Kuno!TUDO nessa série é bem pensado: a escolha dos atores, os cortes de câmera, a disposição do cenário, as falas, até os cracarecos das bolsas, camisas, sapatos deles! Tudo pensando para retratar os jovens atuais e como eles se relacionam. A era da curtida nos stories como flerte, das dancinhas de tiktok no meio da rua, dos relacionamentos sérios mas não sérios. Mas algo sempre continua, independente da era que vivemos: o drama. E como tem drama nessa série! O que te cativa não é os desentendimentos de aborrecentes (apesar de muito bem escritos e realistas), mas como aquilo tudo acontece e é retratado.
Aqueles meninos, aqueles locais, aqueles relacionamentos, eles existem e isso falta em alguns bls atuais. Não tô falando que os bls devem parar de falar sobre mafia, vampiros, viagem do tempo ou sei lá que plot inovador estão popularizando. Quero dizer que eles não conseguem fazer personagens e romances realistas. As falas, a evolução de personagem e o desenvolvimento de relacionamento são rasos, superficiais e apressados para dar espaços para cenas de beijo, pegação e até hot. Já em Gelboys, eu não precisei me preocupar com isso porque, volto a dizer, tudo é bem pensado e bem executado.
Esse bl mudou a química do meu cérebro de uma forma que na época que estava lançado eu fiquei OBCECADA por ele. Vivia ansiosa pelos episódios que viam todo fim de semana e, após ter terminado, fiquei semanas escutando as músicas de trilha sonora. Tudo por uma série que fala sobre romance entre adolescente atuais.

E' una serie molto interessante, coloratissima, dove mi piacciono molto sia il montaggio che le riprese, che spesso seguono gli attori in spostamenti lunghi e sincopati. La recitazione è quasi sempre molto buona, molto superiore alla recitazione degli attori BL più famosi. Gli attori non evitano il contatto visivo con la telecamera.
