Empty story, lame main lead charecters. Childish

Idol topic.
Drama? 0
Story? Empty, Unrealistic and boring
acting? Secondary roles stealing the show.
Comedy? childish

They casted good actors as guests and cannot to make you watch it and still no worth it.

A waste of talent.
It seems a series made for kids to dream fantasies with their kpop idols.

The male lead character is so annoying. not the actor fault at all of course it's what the series want to.
The female lead charecter is too bland and fragil.

The story makes no sense at all. So unrealistic.

dont pay attention bad reviews, it’s a good school drama !

I'm not going to pretend to be neutral: this drama completely captivated me, firstly because I love university mysteries, and even more so when music is involved! It's a combination I find irresistible.

The lead actor, Yu Jun, blew me away. Despite his young age, he delivered a truly remarkable performance, both accurate and expressive. Many tend to criticize idols who try their hand at acting—we know the bad tongues—but those who know a little about theater or cinema will recognize the quality of his performance. He brought his character to life with great sensitivity.

Music-wise, I really loved the OSTs, which I still listen to on repeat. They are both feel-good and perfectly in keeping with the drama's universe and the characters' personalities. A true success.

The lead actress, meanwhile, is a real sweetheart. I really liked her character: she has character without falling into the cliché of the annoying heroine. She managed to strike a nice balance, and her performance was very convincing.

As for Lee Seung Hyub, she's a special case. He was as handsome as he was infuriating! His role could have been more interesting, but unfortunately, he remained frozen: cold, jealous, trapped in a bitter solitude, with no real development. He performed very well, no doubt about it, but his character development lacked depth, which ruined it a bit in my eyes.

The super soft cinematography and pastel-colored shots really appealed to me; it was perfect for this season!

Concretely, what I liked, aside from the flimsy plot and pacing (it often felt like it was going around in circles), is that the story, when you think about it, is simply magnificent. The idea of the eye transplant is really well thought out and brings real depth to the protagonists' relationship, even if, admittedly, the situation is rather unusual.

I won't dwell on the thriller part, which was neither thrilling nor particularly captivating, nor on the music industry aspect, which unfortunately wasn't emphasized enough.

I know many people are wary of idol K-dramas, often criticized for young and sometimes clumsy casting choices, or for plot-simplicity. But for me, it was a successful gamble. I had a very good time, enjoyable, despite its flaws.

Once again, you have to be receptive to this kind of show. I'm capable of appreciating more complex works, but at this time of year, I also wanted something lighter, and this drama fulfilled that role perfectly.

The characters, the music, the overall atmosphere... everything captivated me. It definitely deserves its place among the "school chill" recommendations of the year.

Spring of Youth – Music, Healing, and the Courage to Begin Again

🔹 Can music give you the courage to start over when life feels too heavy?

📖 Overview
🔹 This is a 2025 campus romance drama with 12 episodes.
🔹 Ha Yoo Jun plays Sa Gye, once the charismatic vocalist and guitarist of top idol group The Crown, now forced to enroll in university after an accident turns his world upside down.
🔹 Park Ji Hu plays Kim Bom, a talented vocalist and keyboardist who once dreamed of the Ivy League, but after losing her mother six years ago, chose to stay close to home and music.
🔹 Lee Seung Hyub plays Seo Tae Yang, a med student and brilliant guitarist from a family of doctors, whose rivalry with Sa Gye adds both tension and spark.
🔹 Together, their story is about music, friendship, rivalry, and finding the courage to begin again.

✍️ Storyline & Tone
🔹 For me, the drama felt warm and hopeful, with music tied to each character’s growth.
🔹 It is less about fame and more about healing, love, and rediscovering passion.
🔹 The band scenes were the highlight for me, full of energy and emotion.

🎭 Cast & Performances
🔹 Ha Yoo Jun brings raw emotion to Sa Gye, and you can feel both his charm and his pain.
🔹 Park Ji Hu gives Bom heart, grounding the story in her resilience.
🔹 Lee Seung Hyub adds authenticity as Tae Yang, showing ambition, rivalry, and the pull of music.
🔹 Together, the cast made the friendships and rivalries feel alive and believable.

🎵 OST
🔹 “SEE YOU LATER” by AxMxP (Ha Yoo Jun’s band in the drama)
🔹 The songs blend K-drama storytelling with K-pop energy, making the music scenes engaging and authentic.

🎨 Visuals & Direction
🔹 The campus, practice rooms, and performance stages felt natural and lived-in.
🔹 I liked how the direction gave equal weight to the emotions and the performances. Hence, the music never felt separate from the story.

🏆 Final Thoughts
🔹 I gave this drama 10/10 because it captures the mix of music, healing, and young love in a way that felt honest and moving.
🔹 It’s a must if you enjoy dramas that blend K-pop reality with fictional storytelling.
⭐ Final Rating: 10/10
💭 As SpillTheDramaTea ☕, this drama felt like a song you put on repeat, not because it is perfect, but because it hits something true each time. Yes, I will rewatch it.

A Show I Grew With (and Grew Apart From)

I started Spring of Youth with a quiet certainty that I’d love it, and for a while, it was everything I wanted. It had that sweet chaos of youth dramas: a scandal-touched idol finding a second life, a girl writing music to carry grief, and a band full of mismatched friends trying to make something beautiful together.

The early episodes were alive. They gave me something warm and messy, full of promise: rooftop practices, stolen glances, laughter under streetlights, and the spark of falling for someone who sees you for more than what the world expects. I fell fast. And I didn’t even mind, it felt good to root for something so earnestly.

💖 What worked (and stayed with me):

Sa Gye and Bom’s romance was soft and sweet, not overly dramatic, but filled with little moments that mattered. He was all noise and mischief; she was calm and careful. Together, they made a quietly lovely couple. Their kisses were few but meaningful, and their emotional moments, especially when Bom opened up about her mother, were tender and grounded.

Tae Yang was a standout. A second lead written with restraint and depth. Rich, pressured, and silently hurting. His unspoken trauma, his quiet support for Bom, his forced medical path, all of it made him easy to root for, even when you knew his love would remain one-sided. He felt a bit too obsessive of Bom sometimes but I think I can look over that.

The side characters brought levity and heart.

Gyuri, the fangirl bestie with a sharp tongue and dramatic flair, added chaos in the best way.

Jin Gu, the loyal drummer and class clown, brought the much-needed laughs.
Together, they were the perfect comic relief duo ,never too much, always just right.

The early band dynamic , those moments when it was just five young people trying, failing, and laughing together, felt real. I loved their missions to get Tae Yang out of the hospital, their sneaky practices, and their ride-or-die energy. For a while, they were the heart of the story.

The OST, I loved the soundtracks a lot, and have been listening to them since they were released. I'm looking forward to axmxp debut!

😕 Where it lost me:

The murder/accident plotline started intriguing, but ended up dragging the story into a heavier, slower rhythm that clashed with the youthful energy it had built. The cornea memory twist? Fascinating in theory. But in execution, it overshadowed what made the drama feel special.

Sa Gye’s arc stalled in guilt and confusion. His “leaving for her own good” phase felt frustrating, especially since none of it was really his fault. It hurt, not in the good way, because it lacked the emotional payoff we were waiting for.

Bom’s light dimmed in the second half. She began as a girl carrying grief with strength and clarity. But her creativity and agency got lost somewhere along the way, as the plot shifted focus. Her music mattered, but we stopped seeing her make it.

The pacing and tone shifted too hard. What began as a hopeful slice-of-life rhythm became melodramatic and emotionally heavy. The balance between light and serious got tipped too far, and the magic that made me fall in love faded into the background.

💌 Final Thoughts:

Spring of Youth didn’t end the way I hoped. It got tangled in its own weight and left behind some of the softness that drew me in. But I don’t regret watching it. For those early episodes, with their clumsy kisses, found-family moments, goofy plans, and quiet heartbreaks I cared deeply. I laughed, I swooned, and yes, I even cried a little.

It may not have held its glow all the way through, but it gave me enough light to remember.

7/10 overall — but those early eps are still glowing in my memory.
Sometimes, loving something imperfectly is still love.

I opened it because it's a short series. i have no expectations for this and it doesn't impress me.
The characters is good and the acting also but not great.
Her mother's death is a bit interesting, i will keep watching to know what happened.
The enmity between the first and second ML is fun to watch.
It's the classic love triangle (obviously i feel sorry for the second ML)
Their parents are making me nervous and angry.
I didn't like much about this according that no much is going on.
If you watch it thinking that it's like twinkling watermelon, you're in the wrong place.

I could agree with all of you, because you are very realistic and not local patriots. When I look at the ratings of other series, local patriots where they are delighted with the below-average acting, production, story, script...where they are all 10 and it should be at least -5, then I suggest you to be more local patriots and not write ratings according to your conscience. Benevolent

O protagonista me surpreendeu positivamente também.

Come ?

The first time I saw it, the first 3 episodes, I didn't like it, but after the series continued, I started to like it, I don't know, I know that the story is not so great and that the episodes are a bit drawn out, and you don't understand, but you can give it a chance, and you'll probably like it.
Maybe I'm a weirdo who has free time, so you can skip my opinion anyway, it won't help you.

I'm almost done, I only have one more episode to watch.
