Joong and Dunk show clear growth in their acting. Their expressions and reactions bring the characters to life. JoongDunk’s chemistry feels natural and well-balanced. Dare You to Death maintains steady tension with tight storytelling. JoongDunk’s natural, layered performances make every detail believable.
A well-crafted detective drama that’s accessible without feeling shallow. Definitely worth watching for genre fans.

A Good Cast Cannot Save You From a Bad Everything Else

I love Joong. I love Dunk. I need you to know this. I need you to know I wanted it to be so good and exciting and fun. And I had such high expectations as well. With the teaser and the trailer, which were super cool, and with them being some of my favourite actors, it had everything.
Except, of course, when I was finally able to watch the actual series, it had nothing.
The plot doesn't have a gigantic hole in it. It IS a gigantic hole. The characters are shallow and their motivations are nothing but the fact that the story needs to move forward. Their relationships are underexplored and even Joong and Dunk seem to be lost in the middle of the nothingness that is the supposedly developing relationship between their characters because they seem to be unable to make their chemistry work inside anything.
On top of that, the mystery is bland and you can figure it out most basically by episode 5, at the very least, although my friend and I had the basics of what was going on by episode 3. AND, as if that wasn't bad enough, the police force is incompetent and seems to be entirely unable to run a fucking precinct, let alone solve a serial murder case. Because, no, let us not be fooled, even if all those kids sucked massively, it is entirely Jade and Kamin's fault that they're all dead and yes, that is a bad thing. Cops aren't vigilantes and, although sometimes they seem to be trained to be just that, should not be executioners.
So this means that the core of the series sucks.
But just in case they made everything else suck too.
The sound design is non existent, I think the tech was sleeping the whole time. The places echo, the mix is bad, some people are louder than others and it's just frankly horrific.
And then the special effects suck. My personal beloved is the fake fire, it really adds to the vibe of "I don't care" that the whole last episode has got going on, fantastic. Shout-out.
Finally, even the shooting is bad bc continuity errors keep showing up and the montage just seems to be unsure what the pacing of the story should be so we just have long scenes about nothing and then rushing through major plot points.
In the end, the sum is a pile of rotten things catching fire. The absolute heartbreaking part? The rotting parts used to be premium quality salmon. Someone could've used that to make a delicious meal. And they were robbed of that opportunity so now we're all left starving.

PS: Ohm was great in the series, by far he's the best part of all of this. I don't know how he managed to make the handful of nothing they gave him work but kudos to him, he did really well.

Started with promise — then lost me somewhere along the way

The opening had my attention. A drinking game that ends in death, anonymous threats, a murder investigation — as a setup it works, and JoongDunk as a pairing gave me a reason to stay past the premise.
But by episode three the series had already started losing its own thread, or at least losing me trying to follow it. The focus shifted in a way that left me uncertain what the show was actually most interested in, and when a series stops feeling like it knows what it is that early, I stop feeling like I need to find out. I dropped it without much hesitation and I don't plan to go back.
JoongDunk have something together, and I don't doubt there are moments further in that deliver. But a pairing alone isn't enough reason to push through a story that's already stopped making sense to me.

I am loving this

I have not watched a lot of Thai BL, but Dare You To Death has become one of my favourite shows; I might be biased because I really like to watch police dramas and murder mysteries.

One of the things that I am enjoying the most is how the show is not scared of going into darker themes despite the surprisingly light atmosphere. I am very intrigued by how they'll keep playing with that.

I already read the novel, but I am still excited to see how the story evolves.

Joongdunk

Dare You to Death delivers a gripping and intense experience with strong performances and a well-paced storyline. As a JoongDunk fan, the natural flirting and undeniable on-screen chemistry between them were a real highlight. Their subtle romantic moments added warmth and emotional depth to the dark crime narrative, making the series both thrilling and deeply enjoyable to watch.

Dare you to death is the bestest mystery series ever.

One of the strongest aspects of Dare You To Death is JoongDunk’s chemistry. Their performances are layered, controlled, and emotionally honest. Dunk’s calm intensity pairs perfectly with Joong’s expressive vulnerability, creating scenes that feel meaningful and impactful. Their dynamic adds depth to the narrative and helps convey the emotional complexity of the story. It is a pairing that leaves a lasting impression. It's a must watch. I loved it!

Had so much potential ..(HONEST REVIEW)

I love dare you to death but if I’m being honest, it’s sadly was poorly written and I wish some things were fixed and talked about. First I LOVED the whole friend group murder case cause it was so unexpected. Genuinely the plot twist at the end was so unexpected to. Casting is literally a 10/10 likee they literally got everyone for gmmtv. Next I’m so sad that joongdunk keep getting bad types of roles.. cause why was it lowk kinda rush. Some parts that confused me was like when someone was literally getting murdered and joongdunk for fully just flirting and making out. Like bro someone is genuinely getting killed rn✌️. The ending was SO rush. Right after all the chaos happened. They literally just summarized what happen to the ppl.. LIKE BRO WHAT HAPPEN TO THEM, i need to visualize like. Also aouboom was in the show but I genuinely hate the fact they weren’t talk about much. Like Ik they’re a side couple in the show but like I wanna hear from them a bit more. Some parts lowk kinda made me cringe. Show was a bit unrealistic. Anyways I finish the show for joongdunk and it was not good but not bad! Hope gmmtv do better with them.

JoongDunk chemistry somehow gets stronger.

How do you review Dare You to Death when your main memories are red string conspiracy boards, sleepless detectives, and JoongDunk staring at each other like they were trying to solve the case through eye contact alone?

This series really looked at the mystery thriller genre and said, "What if we added serial murders, psychological games, rivals-to-lovers detectives, and enough tension to power the national grid?"

A college student dies after a party.

Then another body appears.

Then another.

And suddenly everyone is lying, everyone is hiding something, and trusting literally anybody feels like a terrible life decision.

Enter Captain Jade and Inspector Kamin.

Two detectives.

Two completely different approaches to solving crimes.

One shared inability to stop arguing for more than five consecutive minutes.

Naturally, they were perfect for each other.

Joong as Jade delivered confidence, sarcasm, and just enough emotional repression to keep therapists employed for years.

And Dunk as Kamin?

The king of stubborn determination.

The emperor of doing things by the book.

The CEO of pretending professional boundaries still existed.

Watching them slowly move from rivals to partners to something much more complicated became one of the best parts of the series.

Because apparently solving murders together is an excellent team-building exercise.

Who knew?

And then there was the supporting cast.

The suspects.

The victims.

The friends hiding secrets.

The classmates with questionable alibis.

Every episode made you trust someone and immediately regret it five minutes later.

The plot twists?

Illegal.

Absolutely illegal.

Every time you thought you knew who the killer was, the series politely laughed in your face and handed you three new suspects.

And can we talk about the people behind the camera?

Director Jade Bunyoprakarn understood exactly what this story needed: tension. The kind that sits in your chest and refuses to leave. The series balanced mystery, horror, romance, and psychological thriller elements without losing momentum for a second.

The cinematography deserves special praise.

The dark hallways.

The flashing police lights.

The interrogation rooms.

The crime scenes that somehow felt claustrophobic even when they weren't.

Every frame felt like it was hiding a secret.

And the soundtrack?

An accomplice.

Absolutely guilty of aiding and abetting emotional distress.

Every song arrived exactly when your blood pressure had finally returned to normal.

The writers somehow managed to turn a deadly truth-or-dare game into one of the most addictive mysteries in recent Thai BL while never losing sight of the emotional core of Jade and Kamin's relationship.

Dare You to Death wasn't a BL.

It wasn't a crime drama.

It wasn't a thriller.

It was anxiety.

Premium-grade anxiety.

This was detective × detective, trust issues × unresolved feelings, and "we're trying to catch a killer but unfortunately we're also catching feelings."

10/10.

Would absolutely pin evidence to the murder board, accuse the wrong suspect seventeen times, and watch Jade and Kamin argue their way into love all over again.

Amazing plot twists

I wanna start off by saying that I absolutely love JoongDunk, but to be honest, the romance in this wasn't it.
I just don't feel like it added anything to the story, which is weird considering this is a bl series. I like Jade and Kamin as characters, and they definitely have chemistry, but the romantic scenes felt corny and forced. This show would've been much better as just a thriller drama.
I also do understand people who didn't like Dunk's acting in this, he was definitely a little stiff. (To be fair though, Kamin as a character is a little stiff himself).
The rest of the actors did absolutely wonderful. I definitely felt their fear.

That being said, the plot itself is amazing. The concept of the "truth or dare" letters is so original and well executed, the murders were actually unsettling, and the plot twists were AMAZING. I also loved how every character in the friend group is morally grey and they've all f*cked up in one way or another.

Summarised: great plot with great characters, not a big fan of the romance.

it was fine.....

Overall, it was an okay watch. I especially liked the storyline with the murder mystery and the group of college students. The plot had a few twists and turns that were handled quite well, which kept things interesting.

However, in my opinion, the actor who played Kamin was a bit weak. I also didn’t really like the way the story was edited. They often showed the murder first and then switched to a soft, romantic scene with the characters who later discover the body. I think it would have worked better the other way around to build more suspense.

This is just my personal opinion, but I also think the story would have benefited from a second couple. They could even have focused more on the college students, which might have made the story feel more balanced.

The main leads felt a bit too boring to carry so much of the focus, mainly because they didn’t really have a strong storyline of their own. Their scenes sometimes felt like they belonged to a completely different narrative, and then the show would suddenly switch back to the actual plot.

All in all, it was still an okay watch with an interesting concept, but it had some weaknesses in the execution.
