I currently watching "Wu" and honestly, GMMTV and Parbdee absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one. The plot is honestly so refreshing. It’s a supernatural fantasy thriller about Pete (Nani), who can detect dangerous spirits called Yao, and Niran (Sky), a mysterious guy who can alter destiny. The universe they built here is incredible. It’s not just random ghost hunting. the way the supernatural elements tie into real world politics and social issues makes the whole story feel grounded and smart. The pacing is perfect, every episode leaves you wanting more.
Can we talk about Sky and Nani? Their chemistry is the absolute heart of the show. The cinematography and VFX are top-tier. Honestly, it feels like watching a high-budget movie rather than a weekly series. The lighting is moody and stunning, and the CGI for the Yao monsters actually looks realistic and creepy.

Untamed???
Starting with the cinematography... who handled this series? They deserve to be hired for every GMMTV series because it was absolutely stunning. Every shot looked so well thought out and cinematic. The story was good too. I won't say it's completely new since it shares some similarities with other fantasy series I've watched, but they executed it really well. I also like how they mixed fantasy with political issues, which made the story feel even more relevant.
One thing that made this series work so well is the casting. This is where I realized I really can't act because I would probably be laughing through most of these scenes. Everyone did an amazing job. As for Sky and Nani, I already expected great performances because I know they can act. And of course, Nani absolutely nailed the action scenes.
One thing I couldn't stop noticing though... why does the ending of Wu remind me so much of The Untamed? Even the OST gives off a similar feeling. Is this becoming the trend for bromance series? 😂

An intriguing genre and marvelous acting and well bromance
Starting from the plot, to the acting to the cast lineup to the direction, Wu was the pure showcase of talent, hard work and great storytelling and I think we didn't appreciate it enough for what it was.The plot is complex. I had to pause and remember the small details so I don't miss out on anything. It tackles a lot of sub-context like Chinese mythology, fantasy, spirituality, sorcery and politics yet everything molded into each other perfectly creating a perfect craft. The main focus being Niran and Pete's story along with their traumas and struggles and how they overcame it by being with each other. It even has a touch of philosophy to it. The only thing is I wanted more. The potential it had, I think it didn't live up to it fully. This really should have been a 12 episode drama instead of 9. More lore, background stories and more depth. There were few things that left me wondering how it turned out the way it is for every character. I think they focused a lot more on defeating Qi Ran (or whatever the lord of warrior demon's name is) instead of giving us more from the characters.
The direction and cinematography is a great fit for the storyline. Except it was too dark for me that I had to increase the brightness of my screen to it's highest. But it successfully caught the dark theme they were going. The action scenes were directed so well and whoever did the CGI deserves a round of applause. It was very realistic. The OST should be in GMMTV's hall of fame because FILO what was that. It totally elevated the show. The script writing was good especially the chemistry of Pete and Niran. I took the bromance with a grain of salt though.
Oh gosh Nani, he worked so hard for this and executed it so well I repeated his scenes so many times. His micro expressions, vocal tones and small gestures truly stood out. The action scenes were amazing. Krist probably acted one of the greatest villain roles ever played on screen to the point he became unrecognizable to people. Godji, Great, Singha and the rest of the cast each played their part perfectly and brought out their characters to real life.
It was an original script and they did pretty good with it considering they probably didn't have as much time. This was an outstanding performance by the cast and deep lore telling on screen and definitely worth watching. Special mention to the yearnings because you cannot convince me those eyes were saying something else.

Bromance is superior to BL ✋️
Bromance is superior to BL - End of discussion ✋️ This series is yet another one that proves that point. If you won't watch Wu because you're afraid of horror, let me tell you as someone who has extremely low horror tolerance, this has little to no horror at all. So don't worry about that. The entire magic, witchcraft thing can be handled with ease.
I loved the idea and the story telling. The animation and special effects used were of good quality and adds to the visual appeal. The pacing is well done with almost no plot holes. Acting is good enough too. I would say Nani is better off being the top than the bottom (hope you understand the point even if it's not a BL). But yes, both Sky and Nani presented a good performance. Godji also did a very good job.
The entire Chinese thing was a bit too much 😂 Yes, we are all reading subtitles so it doesn't make a big difference but still. Was it needed? I don't think so 😅
Loved the song Destiny by FLIO. The instruments blessed my ears 🥹
Ya, was waiting for it to finish airing to watch it together, and it didn't disappoint me. I enjoyed the watch.

Perfection!
Now this is what you call an amazing drama. It has all the elements you need and it was executed with perfection.I loved how they mixed Thai and Chinese in this drama, my two favorite languages. And loved the Chinese music.
It has dark elements, but also beautiful elements and a lot of good life lessons in it. The cinematography was stunning!!
It is always an extra joyful thing when they have short extra clips at the end of an episode.
The fighting scenes were done great!
And a little detail is that i liked the tikking sound effect, it was exactly what made the excution of this drama even more perfect.
The whole cast did such a great job!
Krist was amazing, i didn't even recognize him at first!
And who needs a BL when you can have the fantastic bromance chemistry of Sky and Nani. They have more chemistry than a whole lot of BL couples out there.
I highly recommend watching this drama.

Bruhhhh!!!!! Their bromance is having sooooo muchhh chemistry!! ??
The storyline is damn amazing!! Their connection and plot is truly worth watching. The music.. godddd I'm loving it. Visuals were amazing tbh but the monkey guy could be a Lil more devilish or something.. cause he's cute (idk lil for me ig😅). The thing I wasn't expecting was phuwin and sea entry in the story. Damn, even for short time their role has wow impact. Must-watch series and it's definitely going to my re-watch list. Was this review helpful to you?

Definitely queer, disguised under the protective shield of "Bromance" label
This review is mainly about the interpersonal emotions and messages of the show, but I will have some opinions on the main plot as well later.SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY
They are written as an "unspoken" romance, their bond is beyond platonic. They have a soul binding, they think of each other when people ask whether they met someone they feel connected to and want to stay forever with, they exchanged necklace and ring (on the ring finger!!) like spouses, they would die for each other, they get flustered at implications of being a couple, they have scenes framed in an extremely romantic way while they look at each other like lovers do. If one of them were a girl this would be widely accepted mutual yearning situationship without any "sibling/bestie" labeling.
I like platonic soulmate dynamics but this is already in romance territory. The characters don't need to confess or acknowledge it to be considered canon. Other characters acknowledge it and the subtext does too (even the OST!!). In my opinion it doesn't need to be stated out loud to be canon because the characters are just written like that, to be stubborn and prideful and shy, unable to admit their own feelings. Some canon ships never get together just like some people irl also never get together despite being in love with each other, due to societal circumstances or not wanting to leave the comfort and safety of being friends in fear of ruining it, or simply because friendship and love can be hard to define, sometimes impossible to define and it doesn't always matter to the people involved whether they call themselves a "couple" or "friends".
The show doesn't treat the audience like idiots, the romance doesn't need to be explained to us, the ones who see it get it.
It is pretty obvious but of course never said word for word and officially labeled as bromance which is a good protective shield for actors still. SkyNani aren't bound to the BL genre which sadly happens to some actors once they go all out on the "BL actor" title, they cannot explore outside their niche cuz even in the year of our lord 2026 BL is considered a genre and not treated the same as hetero romance or other non romantic media in general. It may also be more profitable and marketable to mainstream audiences and homophobic countries.
But to me and many others it is interpreted as intentionally written like a romance.
In canon they are friends, and friendship does not negate romantic feelings. They are friends, platonic soulmates even, yes. But they are also additionally in love.
My thoughts on the overarching plot itself:
Flawed and sometimes confusing or rushed, some under utilized characters (Fei especially) but all in all great premise.
Very unique and carries a beautiful message. I loved how they made a point about anger and demons being valid, natural to humans and not inherently evil. I love this really refreshing take on rage and using it for good instead of fighting the rage and banishing the so-called "evil". They did that at first but came to the conclusion in the end that demons and heaven are the same, neither is inherently good nor inherently evil which is so beautiful.
The antagonists had real goals and even got some sympathy from me with a believable backstory and nuanced motivations for their actions.
Everyone in this was acting their arse off, amazing performances. Relatively well written supporting cast despite being a little under utilized like I mentioned earlier but sometimes it's ok since they're still just supporting and not main cast. "The Wu" is such a good ensemble and play perfectly into the found family themes.
I gave a 8/10 rewatch value because while it is one of the best shows I've ever watched, it did require some emotional/mental capacity and strength which I may not have all the time to rewatch it often. This story really made me feel a lot. Also it's a bit gory which I personally am not affected by but people who are squeamish might wanna brace themselves before watching.
10/10 would recommend to those who can stomach gore and spiritual stuff etc.

Because they never let us down.Honestly i can feel those intense gaze, those burning sensation, those yarning, that slow burn, through my screen and That's the whole point.
