Now this is how you do a bite-sized series

If you just heard someone scream, 'OMG this is so fucking cute!' It was me. This was indeed, hella cute. The plot is well-paced with no over-the-top dramatics or misunderstandings—just a simple, yet well-done enemies-to-lovers academic romance, with a little twist.

My only gripes would be
1. I wish is that we'd have gotten a little more time with them at the end. Like, have them properly establish the relationship b4 it ended.

2. The kiss scenes weren't it. They were giving dead fish, and me no like that. I understand that they are pretty young, and this is a high school series. Thus, I don't require them to be out there eating each other's faces. However, it doesn't mean you give me dead fish kisses. Nuh-uh. My School President has, I believe, 2 good examples of what I'd have liked to see.

PS. Thank you to that one babe with the BL account on YouTube. She kept mentioning her love for SeaKeen so much that I was like, 'Fine! I'll look them up.' I realised that I'd already added 'Weirdo 101' on my Plan to Watch list coz I thought the concept was interesting and cute. Now, after seeing them act, I'm even more excited for the series to drop. May GMMTV not fuck it up

Math Camp L0v3

I'm so glad that the math camp story has it's own page, because the quality is night and day compared to the other story of the anthology that has so far aired. Though the acting of the leads is still greenish, they have lots of room to grow, the writing, direction, and overall production is sharp, producing a very competant, sweet story of friendship and self discovery on the cusp of adulthood in 4 episodes. The humor isn't too exaggerated and overall it's so much better than other full series that just drag on and on.

The math camp itself is already full of kids that are probably on some level of neurodivergent, but Mawin is the most neurodivergent of them all. It's social awkwardness despite wanting to connect with people is so relatable while his genius ability to process math as fast or faster than a computer isn't He's also a really keen observer and solid advice giver. It was unfair of anybody except for Err who he got emotionally and physically involved with to be mad at Mawin because they're they ones who sought out a rando stranger to ask solutions from, it's not Mawin's fault it's him. He didn't even charge any money.

Err is also gifted and is studious towards math, but he's full of self doubt and his loving funny bestie Benz interprets the fortune in the most extreme way and Err just roles with it. I love that Mawin's letter confirms that the fortune just meant for Err to make some friends and not to make him fall in love. It's so such a lovely twist for Mawin that Benz somehow interprets the most general advice into sending Err his way. Err is good at socializing and speaks up for his friends. I love that his friend Mhee from middle school and also at the math camp is also the same way and also gets the math kids to realize what they did wrong against Mawin.

It's lovely the kids reveal they aren't bad people, but it's only because there are other kids brave enough to call them out and correct their their behavior that they made out of fear. This is such a healthy lesson for people of all ages to learn, but especially young adults who are still learning to navigate the world. The way each one of them apologizes to Mawin who has to deliver their laundry as punishment for skipping out on class is heartwarming. Mawin skipping out on the the final exam was handled well. Err misunderstands it concurrently with finding out he was the fortune teller and tragically they don't spend the remaining senior year together while Mawin returns to ostracization. All because Mawin's letter was in the book the ramen coaster course book that Err didn't need to use anymore.

The dramatic irony of Mawin realizing that most everyone just had communication issues and that's what was keeping him and Err apart. I really do like that Mawin gets to have likes and wants and his own set of friends. He didn't want to go overseas, but he wants to learn English to make international calls to Boston, Massachusetts where his boyfriend will be. Good for him for completing his wish of not only making friends, but the bonus gift of getting a boyfriend too. The kissing is the classic awkward stilted jpeg, but the characters are babies and the actors are very young so at least they have reasons. I do appreciate framing them in wide shots.

Although this short drama has a romance sub-plot, this is just a part of the greater Coming-of-Age story told here. Err and Mawin are in that fragile year when it becomes obvious to young people that a part of their lives is coming to a close (school and childhood) and that the future is still unknown -- and that time coincides with a phase when teenagers are still coming into their own identity.
Consequently, the drama asks: What do you want in life? Where are you going? Why are things important? Or if not, why not? Are you good enough -- and for whom? Who are you, and who do you want to be?
Both Err and Mawin will have to find their own way of navigating interactions with their peers and expectations of adults -- and in the meantime manage their first romantic feelings.

Despite the slightly ridiculous set-up of a maths camp in a hotel, I'd call this drama slice-of-life-adjacent.

Both main actors performed well -- which surprised me in a good way because Sea ("Mawin") was still rather stiff and unexpressive in his first role in "Only Boo!".

The romance took a backseat in favour of the coming-of-age, which I did not mind one bit.
Actually, I think this little drama would have worked as well, if not better, as an ensemble piece. The supporting characters -- the other students at the camp -- seem to have interesting backstories: The perpetually grumpy Mangpor, the boy with the broken arm, sunny Mhee. I am sure they would have added more depth to the themes the series touched upon.
Alternatively, the focus could have been tightened to the two main characters, that would have worked too.

But overall, I feel that the writers and the director made exactly the story they wanted to tell; I felt that there was a good attention to detail both in the screenplay and in the execution of the drama (unlike in other recent cash-grab GMMTV BLs).

However, for what it is, this short drama did what it wanted to do, not more and not less. The themes might not be exactly new, but they are certainly relevant to most teenagers.

Was it good?
It was a well-executed short coming-of-age story. I didn't feel it lacked anything there; viewers focused on the romance might feel that it didn't get enough time.

Did I like it?
I liked it well enough. I usually don't feel too strong about coming-of-age stories nowadays.

Who would I recommend it to?
To those who don't mind a story that is not that focused on the romance in favour for a more slice-of-life-leaning plot.

A Heartfelt Story of Friendship, Ambition, and Growth

MuTeLuv: “Hi” by My Luck stands out as one of the most memorable entries in the MuTeLuv series, offering a heartfelt story that balances emotional depth with thoughtful character development. What makes this installment particularly compelling is its ability to portray the pressures and struggles students face while striving to succeed and prove themselves. The series captures the constant drive to excel academically while also highlighting the emotional toll that ambition and expectations can place on young people.

One of the strongest aspects of the show is the way every narrative element feels intentional. The storyline progresses with clear purpose, allowing the characters and their motivations to develop naturally. Rather than relying on overly dramatic moments, the series focuses on subtle yet meaningful interactions that gradually reveal the personalities and vulnerabilities of its characters.

A highlight of the story is the evolving relationship between Er and Mawin. At first glance, the two appear to be complete opposites, yet their differences ultimately create a balanced and compelling dynamic. Er is portrayed as exceptionally intelligent but struggles internally with self-doubt and the pressure to maintain excellence. Despite his capabilities, he constantly questions himself and his worth, making him a relatable character for viewers who understand the weight of expectations.

Mawin, on the other hand, presents himself as calm, composed, and largely indifferent to the opinions of others. As a genius who often chooses silence over confrontation, he gives the impression that he has everything under control. However, beneath that quiet confidence lies a more vulnerable side. Mawin’s greatest struggle is not intellectual, it is emotional. Despite his brilliance, he finds it difficult to form genuine friendships and longs for authentic connections with others.

This complexity makes Mawin one of the most relatable and layered characters in the series. Even when he overhears people speaking negatively about him, he chooses empathy rather than resentment. Instead of holding grudges, he continues to see the good in others and often helps people behind the scenes without seeking recognition. These small, quiet acts of kindness reveal his true character and add emotional depth to the narrative.

The chemistry between Er and Mawin gradually evolves throughout the series, showing how their differences complement each other. Er’s vulnerability contrasts with Mawin’s calm demeanor, while Mawin’s quiet support helps Er confront his insecurities. Together, they create a relationship dynamic that feels genuine and meaningful, rather than forced or overly dramatic.

Beyond the central relationship, the show also does an excellent job of giving supporting characters clear roles within the story. Each character contributes to the overall narrative in a way that feels purposeful, helping to build a well-rounded world that reflects the complexities of student life. These interactions add depth to the series and reinforce its themes of perseverance, friendship, and personal growth.

Overall, MuTeLuv: “Hi” by My Luck is a beautifully balanced drama that combines thoughtful storytelling with strong character development. By focusing on emotional authenticity and meaningful relationships, the series delivers a story that feels both relatable and impactful. Its exploration of ambition, loneliness, and the search for genuine connection makes it not only entertaining but also deeply resonant for viewers.

If anything, the show succeeds because it reminds us that even the most brilliant individuals still seek the same things everyone else does, understanding, friendship, and a place where they truly belong.

Goodbye, fortune teller, hello, boyfriend ;)

"If you believe the lines on your palm dictate your destiny, don't forget that destiny lies in your own hands."

This super cute short film serves as the opening to GMMTV's unpredictable and quirky "spiritual" series—a successful appetizer in its visuals, flavor, and aftertaste. The love story is nothing new, still following familiar tropes like rivals-to-friends-to-lovers, but the storytelling and theme are truly unique. Perhaps I don't have many words to describe the sweet, fluffy romance in the film beyond a single adjective: cute. When they're shy—it's cute. When they try to make a move—cute. When they're upset—cute. When they argue—cute. Making up, supporting each other, cheering, confessing, kissing...—cute, cute, super cute! It might sound like an exaggeration, but this is truly one of the few series where I felt a cuteness that was completely natural, not forced or awkward, and not the result of characters (or actors) trying to act cute for the camera. And this very "naturalness" is the core element that guides the entire narrative, weaving through every aspect of the production and reaching the viewer's eye straight through the screen. The natural chemistry isn't pushed with "fan service" gestures or a rushed feeling. Every plot point is perfectly placed, with events unfolding sequentially, allowing the film's pace to develop logically—never hurried, never dragging. Everything is perfectly arranged so that a series of just four short episodes can convey all of its intentions without stumbling into potential pitfalls: being forced, illogical, abrupt, or unbalanced in its narrative.

Before watching "Muteluv," I had my doubts about how the filmmakers would handle an anthology series with short stories set within this strange "spiritual" theme. I was skeptical about the polish and romantic pacing of "Hi by My Luck." Now, I can say I am quite surprised and pleased that this project is not the kind of cheap, churned-out series I was worried about. The film has a very clear vibe and concept, with well-developed and relatable characters, and a romantic storyline that is flawless within its limited runtime. If I had to categorize it, I’d say this installment has the feel of a "standard" teen series—but without feeling overly generic like some other youth-focused shows. It has a bit of goofy romance, a touch of maturity befitting their age on the cusp of university, an open-mindedness in its themes, while still retaining that endearing awkwardness and cringe of young love. Overall, the film met and exceeded my expectations.

That's about the filmmaking; now for the content—a crucial aspect that the scriptwriter nailed. I absolutely love the age-appropriate issues the film chose to explore. The love story is adorable, the friendships are enviable. Err is book-smart but slightly clueless, while Mawin is a goofy genius. Together, their love creates a relationship that is sweet, gentle, humorous, and also light, mature, and mutually supportive—in short, it's incredibly admirable. The twist about the fortune teller TK's identity isn't hard to guess, and the "hidden identity" trope isn't new, but it always provides a fun foundation. This time, "Hi by My Luck" handled the reveal quite well. Although it wasn't explained in great detail and felt a little too fantastical, as a vehicle to drive the plot and add a unique flavor, the fortune teller element fulfilled its role perfectly. It not only created a charming high school romance but also built conflict, developed the characters, and evoked empathy from the viewers. This is the part I want to praise the most—the way it addresses the struggles of students about to step into adulthood. It was handled so smoothly. While not deeply profound (due to the runtime), it was free of filler, forced moralizing dialogue, and shallow messages. That's why I say the film feels so incredibly natural. I love Mawin’s story, the way they told his story and the way he told it himself. On some level, it touched me deeply. I didn't find Mawin, Err, or anyone else pitiful, because they are all living their lives, just as we are living ours—ordinary people trying to explain, process, organize, and live their own lives. Mawin and Err, like their friends, are still moving forward, finding their way as they go. Some use a map to advance step by step; some charge ahead and turn back when they hit a wall; some don't know where they're going; some need to pause to find their footing... but no matter what, each is fumbling their way forward to find a path, to find themselves. Therefore, instead of feeling sorry for them, I feel happy—because they are still moving forward; because, despite their confusion and feeling lost, they are still thinking and struggling every day to find their way; because they are still young, with plenty of time for trial and error, with their whole lives ahead of them, and with each other. Mawin and Err are two horses, but they aren't on a racetrack; they are simply two horses fumbling their way along a long road, who happen to cross paths and journey together. Their meeting doesn't mean there are two fewer horses on the road; they are still there, still walking, heading toward an unknown destination. The only difference is, now we have two horses in love.

It's been a long time since I've watched a film I would describe as this "natural." The naturalness permeates every aspect, from content to form. Sea and Keen did an excellent job with their roles, so completely that while watching, I truly felt like I was watching Mawin and Err living out their youthful days—not Sea and Keen trying to follow directions from a script (which may sound like an actor's job, but not every actor can achieve this). Another shout-out to Sea—he truly embodied Mawin, creating the exact image of Mawin I had in my mind. After this series, I truly have a bit more hope for GMM's new generation of actors. They made their characters come alive on screen, and though it was brief, it was absolutely complete. Aside from the drawback of its short length (which could also be a plus—would a longer series have been ruined by drama and filler?) and a few other logical issues—and maybe a slight lack of more romantic scenes (:D)—"Muteluv: Hi by My Luck" is a perfect and complete film for a school-life BL romance. It meets all the criteria of a successful series.

From Competition to Connection

Keen and Sea have quickly become one of my favorite pairings after watching Only Boo. I see so much potential in them—not only are they great actors, but their electrifying chemistry is absolutely undeniable. So when I found out they were part of Muteluv, I was genuinely excited.

And no, I’m not being biased—I also happen to love the plot of "Hi" by My Luck. Despite the series being only four episodes long, it doesn’t feel rushed. The romance between Err and Mawin is a slow burn, taking its time as they focus more on the exam and scholarship storyline.

Err never really hated Mawin, but he definitely felt threatened—after all, Mawin could easily be considered a genius. Mawin, on the other hand, is the quiet, reserved type, and at first, Err assumed he didn’t care about anything. But as the story unfolds, you see how wrong that assumption is.

The plot flows naturally, with minimal conflict, and the twist isn’t something you can easily predict. The ending? It feels grounded although I am not fully satisfied.

If I had one wish, it would be for more episodes—maybe 6 to 8—or even a Season 2. But overall, it’s a light, cute, and heartwarming series that’s definitely worth watching.

My closing of 2025?

Hopefully, this will be my last BL series of 2025.

I need to release my 'favorites' list for the year. It has been really hard to move on from Shine; I’ve tried multiple series, but none of them worked. I ended up dropping them halfway through, including That Summer and Me and Who.

Who would have guessed that this silly little thing would finally help me move on from Shine? lol

I had actually watched Keen and Sea in other series before—Only Boo! and Head 2 Head—but once again, those shows didn't succeed in making me stay until the end. Of course, I had to add them to my 'dropped' list. I honestly didn't expect this series to be this good. Since my previous experience with these actors wasn't great, I really didn't want to waste my time with them. But then I realized this series was only four episodes long, and I am so glad I tried it!

I honestly love this series! Should I watch Head 2 Head next, or just stop here and let this be my wrap-up for 2025?

I'll never see math the same again

GMMTV has officially made math sexy 😂 I'm SO glad they're still producing such pure hearted BL- teens love where they support each other in gaining confidence and in fulfilling their dreams. Not just among couple, but among friendship. I love the mathcamp concept where they learnt its not about beating each othher up - but you can have fun, enjoy your friendship and everyone is a winner in their own way. this is a great message to reinforce in youth, esp lot of gmmtv audience belongs to this category.

That "you can do it" math thingy? chef kiss! i'll never see math the same again

Lighthearted and still so beautiful!

It's just so cute… and simple. And probably what makes this so amazing.

The simplicity of human relationships and our need to connect is actually so beautiful. At the end of the day, the whole functioning of the world is about having a friend, having someone to share things with.

I was watching, and I didn't even need to see the Parbdee logo to know that it was filmed by them, the excellent filming could only be a work of theirs. Beautiful lighting and photography, which I think were the cherry on top to give the scenes such delicacy. As they should! Because in this age, on the verge of going through college applications, being a teenager... everything is so intense and emotional.

And this show... displayed this beautifully, with such care!

4 episodes that feel a lot better than a longer series bcs it was so beautifully made. SeaKeen delivered, as always! Especially Keen, he's so talented. This boy is sooo brilliant!

It's really so delightful to watch! Also it's an easy-watch, it's very light and still so touching!

Nostalgia.

Just finished watching Mutelu: Hi by My Luck, and honestly it was so, so, so good. I have already watched it three times, and I still feel like watching it again. It’s one of those short series that leaves a really warm and nostalgic feeling.

For me, Mawin’s character, played by Sea, is probably the best role he has played so far. There was something very natural and charming about his performance. The way he expressed the emotions of Mawin made the character feel real and relatable. I honestly can’t even fully explain how much I loved his portrayal.

And of course, Keen is amazing as always. No matter what role he plays, he always manages to make the character memorable. In this series too, he did a wonderful job. The chemistry between the two leads felt comfortable and genuine, which made their scenes very enjoyable to watch.

Considering their age and the theme of the story, the roles suited them perfectly. The characters felt believable, and the emotions matched the stage of life the story was portraying. It didn’t feel forced at all.

Another thing I really appreciated was that even the side characters did their job very well. Every supporting character added something to the story, and none of them felt unnecessary. The whole cast worked together nicely to create a fun and heartwarming atmosphere.

My only complaint is that the series is too short. With only four episodes, it ended so quickly that it left me wanting more. Honestly, I could easily watch 10–12 episodes of this story without getting bored.

What I loved the most is how the series reminds us of our school days — the innocent feelings, small moments, and memories that stay with us for a long time. It really brings back the nostalgia of school life in a very sweet way.
