A masterpiece from beginning to end.

Perfect Crown isn't just a romance drama; it's a story about growth, healing, sacrifice, and choosing love over power. The plot keeps getting better with every episode, and not a single moment feels wasted.
But the real heart of this drama is Hui-ju. She isn't your typical female lead. She's intelligent, brave, compassionate, and strong without losing her softness. Watching her fight for her beliefs while carrying so much pain made me admire her more with every episode.
Prince I-An is easily one of the greenest flags in K-drama history, but Hui-ju is the one who truly shines. Together, they gave us one of the healthiest and most beautiful romances ever written.

Made a perfect clown out of me

I actually had high hopes for this but its just pure garbage. First of all, there are no real stakes. They make a big deal out of FL supposedly not having real statues eventhough she is a freaking chaebol with a fat bank account, fame and a rising job. Then we are told that royal blood is very important to define peoples statues but we never actually feel this desparity between the 2 leads. Its just them talking about it. Honestly FL just seemed insecure ASF. They do all this weird stuff to " protect the crown " but the sense of danger is not really there. Protect if from what? In the end they just get rid of the entire monarchy like a hot potato so it meant nothing all along.
Main leads are boring as hell individualy and their love journey is so fast paced its nonsensical.
God am I tired of this type of cold, bitchy, young , chaebols, fashionista divas in kdramas. We had a bajillion already. The magic is gone. The ML isnt anything to write home about either.
Characters do a random 180 in the middle when they cant be bothered to write a better plot.
So FL father is a fucking cheater with 0 parenting skills who cuases ireverible damage to both kids but it gets glossed over becuase apparently he loved her all along and SHE was the misunderestanding him. Oh the misary. Its almost like he couldve opened his stupid mouth and clear things up sooner cuz... I dont know.... he is the adult
And the misnister guy? He tried to kill the man for god sake and main leads are acting like its a normal hiccup.
" oh you wanted to take my life. Thats not cool bro" wtf

Refreshing Storyline

The Perfect Crown was such a refreshing surprise. The modern royalty storyline was done beautifully and made the drama feel unique from the start. The leads had amazing chemistry and their relationship felt natural, emotional, and believable the entire time. I especially loved that the drama didn’t wait until the very end to show their love story properly,we actually got to see them grow together and enjoy their relationship throughout the series. The supporting cast was also exceptional and added so much charm to the story. For me, this is easily the best Kdramas released this year.

Nothing but disappointed again

"Perform Crowd Story looks so unique and interesting, but after watching the whole series, I became disappointed. What are the directors and writers doing? First Gennie Make a Wish, then Twelve, then Can This Love Be Translated, then Boyfriend on demand and now Perfect Crown 🫤 They are just making dramas with the help of actor-actress popularity for profit, nothing else.
Perfect Crown had a unique storyline, but in the end they just made it a romance drama. What can they do? Romance ruined everything. Anyway, some people are loving this series because of the cast, and they should — why not 🙂
Note: Writers should take enough time for the story; otherwise, they will keep doing this in the future like they have been doing from 2025 until now."

Perfect disguise

I’ve been reading reviews on here and I don’t understand the people giving this 10/10
This show had the potential to be one of the best shows of the year but oh damn, both the romance and politics weren’t fully developed so it was a just half baked for both
What happens to PM, one of the main characters and his character is just taken off screen with no clear explanation as to the consequences of his actions, FL nails don’t do her character justice considering the number of times they were shown, ML always has one look as if he’s smirking
I genuinely don’t get the hype with such a confusing story line. Both leads look good though, props to them

slow, predictable and dragged but it was made for an experience.

the ending was a good touch. i don't usually watch kdramas or series in general so i'm not fit to judge based on such thing. everything seemed 'too perfect'. it didn't feel genuine, but like a plastic toy resembling a human body.

the characters were written precisely as if every single thing was calculated for absolute perfection. not necessarily wrong but it felt like one should pay attention to and consider every single aspect of the life yet at the same time didn't have to bother with it because the same aspect of life will be shown on it's own. it was directed to one direction only as if every atom in it was duplicated for the same intend. i didn't have to see anything as if i was told "hey, this is the only thing that happens so don't even think about anything else."

The first 8 episodes were great but then it got disappointing.

I love the acting of both leads and it was lovely to watch that the financial capability were on similar levels. There should be more dramas where both characters are rich and no one depends on each other for money at least. The storyline could have been far better it just seemed a bit too much at the end.

Perfect Crown is literally a 10/10

This drama had me giggling, kicking my feet, crying into my pillow, and smiling at my screen like a fool 🥹✨
IU and Byeon Woo-seok didn't just have chemistry... they had CHEMISTRY chemistry 😭💖 Every look, every smile, every tiny interaction had butterflies doing cartwheels in my stomach 🦋💞
And can we please talk about Prince I-An?? Because sir, why are you setting my standards higher with every episode? 😭💍 The way he looks at Hui-ju like she's his entire world... excuse me while I sob 🥹🤍
What I loved the most is that their love wasn't loud—it was soft, warm, comforting, and absolutely precious 🫶✨ They trusted each other, protected each other, and became each other's home 😭🏡💕
The visuals were heavenly, the cinematography was breathtaking, the romance was EVERYTHING, and the acting was simply chef's kiss 🤌👑✨
Perfect Crown didn't just steal my heart...
It adopted it, raised it, and refused to give it back 😭💖
10/10 ⭐ 100/10 for the romance 💕 1000/10 for the Wanseong couple 🥹👑
My heart officially belongs to Hui-ju and I-An forever

one of the best romance kdramas i watched lately

Perfect Crown was honestly such a fun watch for me. The plot was interesting from the start and it never felt boring, which I really liked because some dramas drag a lot in the middle but this one kept me hooked. The pacing was pretty solid too, not too fast but also not dragging, so every episode still made me want to continue right away. I also really loved the set design and overall visuals, everything looked so pretty and royal and fit the story so well. Even the villains were annoying in the best way possible, like they really made me mad but that just means they did their job well lol.

And the romance?? omg I was fully invested. The chemistry between the leads was seriously so good, like every scene between them had that tension and softness that makes you want to keep staring at the screen. Their moments together were not just cute, they actually felt meaningful, and I was fangirling over every look, every small gesture, everything. The leads did such a good job too, especially with how they brought out the emotions so naturally. You can really feel their connection and it makes the whole love story hit harder.

Overall, I really enjoyed this drama a lot. The ending was satisfying for me and it left me feeling emotional in a good way, like sad it ended but also happy with how it wrapped up. Perfect Crown just has that kind of charm that makes it easy to get attached to, and for me it was one of those dramas that stays in your head even after finishing it. Definitely a really lovely watch and I would for sure recommend it to other romance lovers.

When criticism stops being fair: My thoughts on Perfect Crown

I just finished watching Perfect Crown, and honestly, I need to say this because some of the discourse surrounding this drama has been driving me crazy.
Before watching it, I saw countless comments criticizing the drama, the actors, and practically everything associated with it. Some people were acting as though it was one of the worst productions ever made. After finally watching it for myself, I can confidently say that I do not understand the level of hostility directed at this series.
Was it perfect? No. No drama is. But the amount of criticism it received feels wildly disproportionate to its actual flaws.
The acting was excellent. The story kept me engaged from beginning to end. For the first time in a long while, I found myself genuinely eager to know what would happen next. Every episode left me wanting more, and that is something many dramas fail to accomplish. No drama has made me feel this invested in a while. Since watching The Manipulated and King the Land, very few Korean dramas have kept me constantly wondering what was going to happen next. Perfect Crown had me looking forward to every episode and wanting answers as the story unfolded.
What frustrates me most is seeing people attack the actors' abilities. Criticizing a storyline is one thing. Disliking a character is another. But claiming that talented actors suddenly cannot act simply because you dislike a drama is where criticism starts to lose credibility.
I have seen people dismiss performances that were clearly emotional, convincing, and well-executed. At some point, it stops being an honest review and starts feeling like people have already decided they want to hate something regardless of what is actually on screen.
The historical complaints are another issue. This is a fictional drama. It is not a documentary, a history textbook, or a government record. Viewers are free to dislike the creative choices, but acting as though every fictional deviation completely destroys the value of the entire production feels excessive.
What I find particularly frustrating is how selective some people are when it comes to outrage. A fictional drama changes a historical detail, uses one term instead of another, or changes a ceremonial element, and suddenly people act as though the entire production should be condemned.
Yet for years, viewers around the world have watched films and dramas rely on stereotypes without seeing this same level of backlash.
As an international viewer, one thing that has always bothered me is how casually people use "Africa" as though it is a single country. Africa is a continent. It is made up of dozens of countries, cultures, languages, and histories. Nigeria is not Kenya. Kenya is not South Africa. South Africa is not Ghana. Ghana is not Mozambique. Yet many films and television shows still talk about "Africa" as though it is one place with one culture and one experience.
I have also watched countless productions where Africa is portrayed almost exclusively through poverty, suffering, and hardship. Likewise, I have seen dramas use "America" as a convenient explanation for rude behavior, rebellion, smoking, drinking, or disrespect, as though these things are uniquely tied to one place. These portrayals are often exaggerated stereotypes, yet they rarely generate the same level of outrage.
That inconsistency is what stands out to me.
If we are going to have conversations about accuracy and representation, then those conversations should be applied fairly across the board. It seems strange to ignore countless stereotypes and oversimplifications in entertainment, only to become intensely focused on a few details in a fictional drama.
At some point, it begins to feel less like constructive criticism and more like people searching for reasons to be angry.
One thing I have always believed is that not everything is meant for everyone. If a drama is not your taste, that is perfectly fine. Watch something else. Move on. But there is a difference between saying, "This wasn't for me," and trying to convince everyone that it has no value whatsoever.
For me, Perfect Crown was engaging, emotional, well-acted, and memorable. The cast put in tremendous effort, and it shows. You do not have to love the drama. You do not even have to like it. But some of the reactions surrounding it feel completely disproportionate to what was actually shown on screen.

At the end of the day, I am glad I watched it and formed my own opinion instead of relying on the loudest voices online. Sometimes the best thing a viewer can do is ignore the noise, watch the drama for themselves, and decide what they think. After doing exactly that, I can honestly say that much of the backlash says more about online outrage culture than it does about the actual quality of the drama

SECONDLY
Another thing that crossed my mind while watching the reactions to this drama is how differently people treat actors once they become successful.
When an actor is struggling to gain recognition, many people cheer for them and want them to succeed. But once they finally break through and reach a new level of popularity, it sometimes feels as though people start waiting for them to fail.
I cannot help but wonder whether some of the hostility directed at the cast comes from the fact that they have become more visible and more successful. The larger an actor's profile becomes, the more intense the criticism seems to get.
That is part of why some of the comments about the acting feel so strange to me. You can dislike a drama. You can disagree with creative decisions. But acting as though talented performers suddenly have no acting ability simply does not make sense.
At times, it feels less like an honest evaluation of their performances and more like resentment toward their success. Whether people want to admit it or not, there are moments when criticism begins to sound less like constructive feedback and more like a refusal to acknowledge that someone has earned their place through hard work and talent.

I'd rather watch this than LR? ?‍♀️

I don't think this show was for me. I feel that this type of story is also a little dated? Which is highly ironic when you consider that they are trying to make a “modern” historical costume drama.

This show just feels so tone deaf in today's climate, an ultra wealthy CEO marrying the Regent of the monarchy she occupies???

There is so much product placement everywhere, and they don't even attempt to work it in naturally. It's been like 10 years since I've seen product placement this hamfisted. All that money and the show is still a little disappointing.

I feel that if they could have held off on the wealth flaunting for a couple of scenes then more could have been done to develop the things I had the most issues with.

The FL's relationship with her father and brother.

She's an illegitimate child who “caused” the death of her fathers legal wife. He neglects and resents her for most of the show and that is what pushes our FL to see herself as always in competition with people who think she is inferior due to the circumstances of her birth.

This backstory is what fuels almost all of her actions… but it's REALLY underdeveloped. There's like one scene where her dad is all like “you were such a greedy child and I was terrified of you!” but then we see the same interactions from her pov and it's all sad cuz her daddy doesn't love her or give her attention…

That's kind of it.

I get that we've only got 12 episodes to work with but I feel that fat could have been trimmed in so many areas. When the FL and ML go to meet her father now he's being all gruff but caring out of nowhere. His change in demeanor only came about because the FL is getting married. She calls him out on it and then never really questions the change in behavior. It just seemed off to me.

The villains are dumb as hell.
I think that this show had some of the worst villains I've seen in a while. None of their plans really work and they try to assassinate people the same way multiple times. They know that the ML has something on them and has ALWAYS had it, but instead of wondering why he didn't use his advantage they just keep trying to kill him over and over in the most obviousand tracable ways. Do they just hope and pray that no one will investigate the DEATH OF THE REGENT OF THE NATION???? The ML's SIL/2nd FL pissed me off so bad, what a great actress.

The Wardrobe.
I don't usually comment on the outfit in contemporary dramas, but I think it was just such a missed opportunity to be more creative with blending traditional Korean garb with more modern influences. Going into the drama I thought I'd be getting something like Vixx's stage outfits during the Shangri La era. Most older characters/ staff are just wearing regular hanbok, and our ML occasionally wears a shirt with a flowing belt made with the most uncomfortable looking fabric, he had a fan in that one scene tho. That was cool.

The 2nd ML. omfggghh
Another victim of the lack of runtime. Dude has like two flashbacks of him helping the FL and we're supposed to assume they are like bosom buddies. He's at least known her since high school… All of the leads in this show are played by GROWN ass people in their 30's. If you assume the Characters are of a similar age, then the man had spent the last DECADE beating around the bush with a woman who has NEVER expressed any romantic interest in him. YET, he is willing to KILL people later just so he can have her. Mind you he proposes earlier in the story and the FL rejects him IMMEDIATELY! It's insane, he's so obviously sinister and dumb right up until the very end. Grown man acting like a jealous teenager with no impulse control.

I feel like someone somewhere wanted to make a point about class stratification… but they didn't understand that would be extremely difficult when our FL is a billionaire with enough money to fund the crown herself. So they talk about abolishing the crown and royal line instead at the end outta nowhere??? It's whack idk.

This can all be ignored, the romance was pretty cute, and I do think that IU had good chemistry with Byeon Woo Seok. BWS still hasn't completely convinced me that he's a generation talent like some people say.

I think I genuinely would have enjoyed this show more if someone with a similar demeanor to Seo In Guk was our ML.

It was fine, I can see the vision, it just needed to use its time a little better.

I just wasn't the target demographic.

objectively awful 12 hours of pure expensive torture

2.0 only bc platform begged for it :/

this is the sloppiest shi that sucked so bad for me. the drama was genuinely painful to sit through lord... the only reason i even survived 12 hours of this mess was Gong Seung Yeon. she absolutely carried this whole thing with insane elegance and class. every time she came on screen the drama suddenly looked expensive again. beautiful, icy, remorseful, heartbroken, brave... she delivered EVERYTHING. her screen presence is actually crazy and she was easily the best styled person there too. the hanboks, the gowns, that Dior looking suit in the end?? she ate every single frame. and her deep voice added so much impact too. queen mother also SERVED hard every time she appeared like at least some women in this drama knew how to act. she basically ATEEE.

Our prime minister deserved so much better too because his performance was genuinely nuanced compared to whatever the ML was doing. his micro expressions carried more emotion than entire conversations in this show. meanwhile Byeon Woo Seok looked awkward and miscast the whole time. this icy tsundere role was NOT for him at all. even when his character literally fainted from the fire and was lying unconscious in bed he somehow still looked like he was smiling 😭 i could never take any emotional scene seriously. he only became slightly watchable near the end when he turned into a pathetic simp househusband because that softer vibe fits him way more.

and omg IU... im sorry but acting is just not her field. her facial expressions were annoying most of the time and every emotional scene felt so flat. they tried SO hard to force this rich cold CEO aura on her but it never landed once. she was just mean, spoiled and underdeveloped the whole drama. not to mention her styling was atrocious too which is insane considering her character was supposed to be some fashion influencer. half the outfits looked cheap and ill fitted. even her face always looked bored instead of intimidating. she should honestly stick to roles that actually suit her strengths because this role exposed every weakness possible.

half this drama felt like it was desperately trying to recreate Queen of Tears emotional glamour and Lovely Runner fangirl hype but ended up looking like a confused pinterest board with no identity of its own 😭 they tried SO hard to style IU like some mix of Yoon Se Ri and Hong Hae In with the expensive cold rich girl aura but it failed miserably because neither the writing nor the acting could sell it. and the amount of scenes that straight up felt copied from QoT and Lovely Runner??? insane. except those dramas at least knew how to build emotional payoff and chemistry while this one just kept throwing aesthetically shot moments together hoping the audience would eat it up because the cast is popular.

THE WRITING YA ALLAH... this genuinely felt like a first time writer opened ChatGPT and said “write me a royal political romance” because what even was this sloppy ass script 😭 they kept introducing plotlines and abandoning them two episodes later. who started the fires?? who killed the mother?? who sabotaged the brakes?? who leaked the marriage contract?? what happened to the prime minister in the end?? NOTHING got resolved properly. and instead of fixing these massive plot holes they wasted screentime on cringe romance scenes and forced hero moments like that stupid car accident scene.

the monarchy abolition ending literally felt like they made it up during filming with zero buildup. everything about this drama screamed expensive but lazy. huge budget, big cast, beautiful visuals at times... yet the execution was so half baked and empty. like a gourmet meal with no seasoning. there was actually so much potential in the premise too which makes it even more frustrating. with proper writing, stronger character development and more episodes this could’ve been amazing. instead it became one of the sloppiest and most badly written kdramas i’ve watched in a while. if it weren’t for my husband, i would’ve dropped this immediately. genuinely a waste of time and potential.

coming from someone who has been watching kdramas for over a decade now... i could already tell from the FIRST episode this drama was gonna turn into a sloppy expensive mess and unfortunately i was right 😭 and no before people start with the “not every drama needs something happening every episode” excuse... there’s a difference between slow paced storytelling and a completely directionless script with unresolved plotlines everywhere. we are watching a drama not staring at aesthetic pinterest edits for 12 hours. even as someone who genuinely liked IU in Moon Lovers and Byeon Woo Seok in Lovely Runner, this drama exposed so badly that visuals and fandoms carry them harder than acting ever did. both of them felt painfully weak here and the only reason this drama is surviving is because of their huge fanbases hyping up every frame. my husband literally got baited into watching this because of the expensive looking sets, cars and cinematography 😭 and yes the aesthetics WERE beautiful at times but good visuals don’t magically excuse lazy writing, awkward acting and a story that keeps going nowhere.
