A comedy K-BL with obvious flaws, but its heart in the right place

Here we have a comedy K-BL, which is quite rare. There is a level of absurdity that's not in the usually more grounded K-BLs. If you were to find a comparison point for the comedy, I'd compare it to Choco Milk Shake.

This is fun. There isn't a lot of drama, and even when it gets tense, it's still light-hearted. You get a hint of that Cityboy_log's writing style, where they dealt with a problem very swiftly, sometimes just moving on without really addressing them. But I think it's for the better. They know some things don't make much real world sense, and rather than wasting precious airtime trying to make them make sense, they just move on and focus on the romance, which is what we BL fans are here for anyway.

The first couple is super cute. For most of the show, their relationship actually moves very slowly. But their antics is where most of the comedy is from. So while slow, they're entertaining in their own way.

The second couple, meanwhile, moves fast. They don't get a lot of airtime, but they use it efficiently. All their scenes are romantically significant, and you really get that sense of progress every episode. So it's no wonder many people care more about them than the first couple.

The rest of the cast were underutilised, and they frankly casted too many people. I'm sure if they shift the scripts around, they really only need 5, maybe 6, people in the soccer team. But I know they just want to make use of the Cityboy_log's cast en banc. I'm aware that this can be annoying, especially for those who thought we'd get a third couple. But eh, the fact that Jaejun and Jeonggyu got to took of their shirts once is enough reason for them to be here lol.

By the end, everything is concluded, uh... nicely? It's concluded, all right. Whether nicely or not, that's debatable. But the romance does concludes satisfyingly. And what else do we need from a BL?

Soccer or no Soccer that is the question

I'm getting the feeling that Korean BL is attempting to replicate Thai BL's Please do not do that Don't promote the series based on an the mains having a real life relationship As a fan I just want to see them act most of us don't need to be titillated with nonsense The story had so much promise, the actors once again did their best Except for some of the forced kissing scenes and the multitude of story lines Why why less is always more when it comes too a series Who doesn't love alpha males falling in love Great got most of us there but then it down graded into Park Jong Hun playing a loved besotted idiot and Ko Deok Won being the aggresive but not really love interest The idea of them both being fans of each other was a hook that kept me interested but it didn't really play out well

FC sold out more like FC fucking boring

This show was so bad, OH MY GOD. Just don't, it is such a waste of time, I can't even lie to you. I would give it a 7 (it was an 8, but I need to bring that down a bit) out of 10. I am going to try to find stuff I liked, and then I know what I didn't like, and then an overview. This is gonna be pretty short because I did not like this show.

The setup was pretty good, and some of the guys were hot. Note some. Yeah. The big guy and the dark guy (I don't know names and can't be bothered to check, lmao) are in like the city boy love thing, and they have great chemistry, and they are so sexy. They had some cute moments, which were fun. Yeah, I will give it to them. Those moments were genuinely great, and I felt the chemistry. Good on that part, I guess. They are gay and free, and that's all that matters. And that's it for what I liked.

THE PLOT IS SO BORING AND SO SLOW AND SO BAD. Oh my god, this was hard to fucking get through, jesus christ, we did not know what we were fucking doing, jesus christ. Most of the time, I can ignore bad plots, but this was so bad it was hard to fucking ignore. I can't even lie to you. Do not watch this shit unless you are beating your meat or you have a gun to your fucking head. I WAS CONFUSED RIGHT OUT OF THE FUCKING GATES OH MY LORD, THIS SHOW WAS JUST FUCKKKK. I think this was the vibe, but this was genuinely filmed on someone's fuckng iphone because there is no fucking way. I was genuinely falling asleep during these episodes, and they were so short, too. They started to add random ass characters, and I am like, what the hell, this won't make up for the fact that there is no plot at all. The entire show is a filler episode and not in a good way. Truly, not enough stuff in the show for me to hate on anything else I fear.

Overview time and just my overall episode thoughts. "I feel like I was supposed to watch something before this. I am so confused. OK, wait, I know what’s happening now. They are bankrupt and just got bought out by the guy who’s trying to pump out influencers, and he’s cutting everyone on the team. What is this? It seems like it’s being filmed on a fucking laptop? Khung jae more like SCARY BITCH. Uh, cool, pretty good setup, let's see how they drag it out for 3 and a half more hours." "Bruh. I fell asleep lmao. It is pretty interesting, but also, what the hell is happening? This guy is so freaking horrifying to look at. Omg, this was filmed on someone's iPhone because holy shit." "These angles are making me sick. WHAT AM I FUCKING WATCHING???? They are eating up this dance, but I am also so confused. Pov running out of plot 3 episodes in. Bruh, I actually need to finish this. It is so short. Wait, that is so cute how he started liking him." "It’s getting better, but at the same time, nothing‘s happening, and I don’t know how I feel about that. Headline: We are gonna be gay most of the time and then remind you that we also play soccer. This is not a real show, Lmao. Okay, so everyone is just in love; that is really cute. Let's continue this, please." "FC, we are running out of plot points and need to drag it out, so we are adding more characters in the hope that it will make up for it." "So glad it's over."

Don't. Okay bye!

The most solidly mid-tier show I've ever seen

Wow, that sure was some amount of time I spent watching a show. I even enjoyed some of it!
The premise was interesting but poorly executed, the characters were generally likeable and fairly solid, only occasionally let down by the writing. The pacing and editing definitely needed improvement and the humour often simply didn't land.
There were also some genuinely charming moments which kept me interested enough to continue watching and the few times the jokes worked they REALLY worked (for me at least).

All in all this was a nice enough way to while away some extra hours I had one evening, but nowhere near what I would describe as an actually good show.
Pleasant enough and deeply forgettable just about sums it up.

Actually really good

We come to watch BL to feel warm and happy inside. We come to watch BL because we want to see a beautiful and cute love story that perseveres against all odds, and we get that with FC Soldout.

I can't tell you how much I kept thinking there would be something cringe, but there never was really! It seemed to be very low-value production, and I kept expecting it to show in the filming or acting, but it never did! The actors carried it. Men probably in their twenties and thirties embraced roles with conviction, enthusiasm, and pizazz, and owned them! I'm so proud of them.

It was fluff, belief had to be suspended occasionally (did they actually play a soccer game?), but THAT's BL. Boys falling in love in a world where homophobia doesn't exist, or it's just a plot element that shows the strength of their love, and everyone else in the story accepts their love with enthusiasm. We're here to see a story about love that seems impossible or a long shot, but we know it works out in the end in an endearing way. We are here to see characters grow in love and self-worth. We're here to leave the depressing reality that is our life and be happy and smile, and I smiled this whole show.

Ji Woo being an avid fan boy was so cute, and it was so sweet to see how it helped him when he was at his lowest. Kang Jae's puppy love for Ji Woo was also cute, and the story of how it came about was compelling and sweet. I also enjoyed the side characters, especially Seon Bin, who was out and out gay (as in he literally said out loud that he dated boys), which is always refreshing. Also, I loved how Tae Yeong was beyond unfazed by Seon Bin's gayness, especially because you could tell that Seon Bin expected immediate rejection. Tae Yeong was daddy duck, and all of his players' happiness and health were his top priority. You could see that he could tell Seon Bin was suffering, and to him, gayness was just a blip; all that mattered was that his Seon Bin was sleeping well.

Sporty and cute roommate BL

A soccer x entertainer club with BL storylines. I'll admit the story is a bit all over the place, but the actors have great chemistry, and the fan service makes it a worthwhile viewing experience. I kind of wish some of the episode 1 seriousness was cut off, and there was even more fan service, but I am very satisfied with the final cut.

tan was there

it is i, the niel.

honestly, i watched this for jaejun...not b/c of his performance in city boy log, but because i luvvvv tan.

anyway, this show was about 3% soccer, 50% whining, and 47% can we just finish this already? this is one of those plots that feeds into the parasocial relationships between idols and fans, even though it is mutual from both the mc and ml. i didn't really see the chemistry between the main couple and the other characters were just...there. the budget, nonexistent. the characters were not dynamic, and they had very face-value personality traits that did not develop whatsoever throughout the drag of this show.

sorry, it was not memorable.

yippee

best,

the niel.

One Time Watch For Lazy Weekends!!

When this show dropped out of nowhere, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to watch it!

I wouldn’t have started watching this show, if our Tuesday panelist BL Songbird hadn’t strongly recommended it. The story is about a soccer team that is not doing well, and one day, it is bought by an entertainment agency. The reason for the acquisition is just to commoditize the team to make money again. The agency takes over and cuts out all the players with a poor face, then forces the actors with a face value from their agency to become players. Sounds cliche right? It is, when you think that the agency is undermining the value of players who have spend their lifetime honing their soccer skills. To capitalize on their looks rather than their sports skills is actual demeaning. But the players are left with no choice but follow through this ridiculous charade if they want to remain on the team. It must be remembered that soccer isn’t exactly a popular sport in Asian countries as compared to their European counterparts. So we are left with a weird combination of players who only want to focus on their game and handsome actors who want to be anywhere else but the soccer field. The show clearly outlines three different couples but by the end of the show, we are left with only two.

Too Much Fluff, Too Little Story

Unfortunately, a disappointment filled with unnecessary caracters and fluff. The show presents itself as a sports-themed, enemies-to-lovers romance—but barely delivers on either front.

While the chemistry between the two leads was quite good and their "enemy to lover" arc was one of the more coherent elements, the overall execution of the series was weak. For a drama that marketed itself as being set in a football world, there was barely any actual football theme. Looking back, I honestly don’t know what the series was really about more than the enemy to lover part of the plot.

Several characters served little to no purpose and felt like filler added just to stretch out the episodes. Many scenes dragged or were clearly there to pad runtime rather than drive the story. And while LGBTQ+ representation is always welcome, having nearly every single character in both teams be gay—and all magically pair off by the end—felt more like fan-service than meaningful storytelling. It just wasn’t believable or grounded in any kind of reality.

Some of the side couples had cute moments, and the soundtrack was light and pleasant, which added a bit of charm. But those few positives weren’t enough to save a story that lacked focus, depth, or direction. I really wanted to like FC Soldout, but in the end, it just didn’t deliver.

Cute Tale But Not Memorable

To be honest, I know absolutely nothing about soccer (football) and the content and meaning of this story went right over my head. Being an American, I have never learned to appreciate this sport, nor its components, and am bewildered with its fascination. The zealousness of the phenomenon completely escapes me. Fortunately, the story is really about the interactions of its players rather than the sport itself. Looking back on this series, none of it should have worked. It is filled with so many unlikely individuals thrown in together that on the surface, should have made for a disaster. Yet, I found myself being mildly entertained by what was happening underneath the surface. So many gay men harbor unrequited loves that they simply cannot, or perhaps will not, bring to the surface. In this story, we manage to see that happen, gingerly. Sometimes, comically but steadily, nonetheless. If viewed in terms of developmental stages of love growth, it becomes slightly more engaging.

I've Seen A LOT Better

- Before the very end of episode two -

I think this might work alright for a young audience who like sports.

I'm not a fan of any sport, even hate some, but I've been able to enjoy and even love a few that have been full of different sports throughout the shows, so its not all because of my dislike for football. It's more to do with casting and characters choices (first and foremost).

I'm not a fan of Snape look and sound alikes (one of the ML's), but I could have gotten used to him if there was more to really like about the show at that point, which for me, there wasn't and he (like Snape) wasn't a likeable person either.

The other ML was too immature for me to like, and I don't like the Disney-channel-like acting of his with that character.

I think most of the other characters are alright, and the story is fine, but those two ML's get in the way and get on my nerves.

........

- Once you've through the first couple of episodes -

Episode three starts to feel more like a normal kdrama, things are lighter and everything and everyone are starting to fit better. There are a bunch of fun moments from then on and the relationship between the ML's is much better. There are even some good backing tracks played.

.......

Overall, it gets a lot better than when it started, but I did feel the need to keep skipping still throughout. The first two episodes were quite bad, I'd rate them a five or six out of ten. I came back to watch the show again purely because its a very short show anyway and I hate leaving things unfinished. I think the initial issue was the amount of things going against the show at the beginning, starting with all doom and gloom and negatives is a bold move, especially when we arent attached to anyone or anything yet. All of that is best further on in the show.
