It was exciting in the start but fizzes out towards the end.

This is not my first k- dating show (my fav is His Man 2 till date) and by far what I have seen it is all about glamourous people dating with a lot of physical appeal. Here it was different. A bunch of normal people who went exploring dating for the first time in their life. The concept of this show is very fresh and tried to encompass real emotions of people, for the concept it deserved 10/10.

The problem was how the show became Jeongmok saga. Bro carried the entire show on his back. It was about his love story from top to bottom. The other contestants contributed very less.

**Spoiler**

His love angle with Ji-yeon was very very random. They went from 0 interaction onscreen to 100 % commitment where they want to marry each other. It felt scripted to me. I mean for once i can accept Jeong mok having feelings for Ji yeon but how did she started feeling for him?! Until last episodes she was pinning for Jaeyun and how she liked quiet boys. I am okay even if it was a script but atleast it should make some sense. Either the editing of that loveline was bad or the production team had no solid content of their developing feelings that they legit flashbacked only one scene of them- JY got hurt --> JM did first aid... that too thousands of time. How can you expect me to buy this huh?

Jisu- SeungLi was interesting till it became bland. Bro had 0 interest in knowing her. Its a dating show so i cant expect real conversations but atleast have some talk beyond who was your first choice. "You can pour out your emotions to people and it can mean nothing to them." Had it been real life i would have rooted Jisu to find someone better. And the concept of the show was to date why did they not go to the overnight trip?! That was quite a waste. You say you like someone then obviously you would want to spend time with them alone but here it was opposite.

Rest of the people were quite forgettable. I didn't understand why Minhong and Yeonmeung were pinning over JM. Their screentime was just filled with them bitching about JM. Also I am quite angry with how they handle newbies. They removed their screentime completely to the extent no one knows who they liked. Amongst guys I liked Jaeyun storyline but it was limited.

**End of Spoiler**

All in all it was a bland show where you can skip ep 9 & 10 altogether. I hope they plan a bit better next time. The conversations between the cast were limited to who was their first choice. Please for once have some discussion beyond that the next time.

The people were kind and good no doubt but they have to speak and act for the show. It's shameful that the production planned 3 overnight stays and only 1 couple went.

It's definitely not "better late than being single" but "better late than to be taken"

As me being single since birth made me think of how I wish I was from this show?? WAHAHAHHA'

It has been a fun ride with them, and it feels like fresh from an oven while watching the first ep. Mostly it was bubbly but it got all sudden to be serious and intense when they already realized and knew that some of them are "competing" with each other on who they'll end up with. While some of them are trying to fix their own things and managed to survive remaining to be single until the end...

Honestly, I've been posting some tiktok clips (@nugumars on tiktok) from this show and its my second show after watching my first ever dating show, nineteen to twenty. Well, I was expecting for more since the first ep and the ending was really unpredictable for me. I think I haven't seen some of the main couple's lovey-dovey and first move scenes in a detailed way but definitely these singles who never had a relationships also reminds me of how hard it may also be, especially thinking twice of what would possibly come up, it may be predicted or it may be in the worst case-scenario. I also understand how some girls we're been underestimated by the other guys, the other where just there for a show, competition and rivalry was there, but I would never forget the maturity as well from them. I also love the progress and the pain that they have carried all the way, and how they made few changes to make the first step to other singles who they we're interested in.

Perhaps, these girls really made an impression for me since the first ep:
~ Yi-do
~ Min-hong
~ Ji-su
They really stood out for me the most because every eps, there are progress and changes. They adjusted and think of possible outcomes and predictions, while the other, like Yido, really felt bad for her for crying like girl you've cried 5x from my list already T-T Yi-do for me was one of the weakest but yet she still had so much expectations and dreams of ending up with Jeong-mok but erm he's kind of a jerk from this show tbh. I really hoped for the betterment of Yido and finding the perfect guy for her, despite jeong-mok might be her first love and first heartbreak.

One of the strongest singles out here from this drama is definitely Min-hong, she was totally my favorite from this show and especially the mindset of giving so much advices to the girls, her roommates and the other guys like jae-yun. I liked her personality and the bravest part of her in giving reassurance to others who she gave advices makes her even more attractive.

Ji-su has been the most favorite and ideal partner among the three guys, Sang-ho, seung-il, and Hyunkyu. The competition of the guys we're entertaining, but to the point as well where I was totally disappointed of the guys really chasing her. I mean its their first time but who knows? Also, she does not rush anything because each day comes by since the first day she really had the chance to talk to them one by one while the other was getting so suspicious of their acts. I mean my girl ji-su was promising, but I felt a bit shocked that she chose Seung-il despite the little incident while they were a bit drunk and talking about their first day and the serious question from Ji-su about her past trauma of why she really choses the right guy as carefully as she is. Ever since the firs day, she really made a n impression to most of the guys since they we're introduced the first day. Hoping that while she ended up with Seung-il she would really find interconnectedness with each other.

For the guys, they we're pretty neutral to me, but definitely I was hoping more for some of them to interaction (and not being late) like seung-chan and mi ji T-T. Actually Seung-chan was one of my favorites, and as well as Jae-yun. I feel like I have not quite things to say but ever since few days passed by I think he had lots of progress and its really obvious that they are surrounded by their own worlds because they we're too shy to interact with the girls within the building or even their dates. I feel like I had a favoritism with Seung-chan and there was one episode where he gave an advice to one of the guys after the singles inside a room were talking about the guy who consumed almost two hours of talking to Ji-su.

Seung-chan, Jae-yun and Sang-ho were my favorite guys who stayed by their own preferences but they had at least few changes and progress of knowing themselves more, and that was the point of entering the show for them.

I think I do really understand the decisions that the eternal singles made at the end of the episodes because they weren't there for fun, but finding answers of where they actually belong from the two questions of "staying single?" or "finding or looking for your first love?". The emotions and confusions were all came with purpose and meaning, and I also love how the crew and production made this show very interesting and yet more intense. Also, the casts from this show were very entertaining, as this has been my first dating show that made me so damn interested in watching aired and being so impatient as I waited for few days or even a week to watch all eps.

But overall, it was okay for me, but then I really wished that they would reunite (but not possible because it might be awkward for them already)

Women are single by choice. Men are single because no one chose them.

To all the women, I hope you find better men out there.
To all the men, please learn how to treat people right.

Congrats to Jeongmok & Jiyeon, and Seungli & Jisu!
Wishing the boys treat you well.

Poor Seungchan and Miji, Netflix please give everyone fair screentime. What’s the point of adding more contestants if they barely show up? Even if you think they’re not that interesting, at least show things from their POV like who they’re into or something. Just make sure everyone gets some screentime every episode, please.

Frustrating and Wholesome

Fantastic, give me 14 of them right now.
As an eternal single/introverted and awkward person in my 20s myself, I absolutely adored this show and related so hard to most of the cast. I need to be these girls’ friend. Cried so many times especially for Yido and Jiyeon.

I like how the makeovers in the beginning were not focused only on visuals but on what they personally wanted to work on and be better at, and I think for the most part every had there own coming of age story. Also I appreciate that the main message seems to be that everyone is deserving and capable of love.

My main and only complaint/things I think can be improved on next time if they do a second season, is for everyone to get the chance to have a one on one date with everyone (lowering the chance that they all like the same person), and that the mentors should be able to talk and help them throughout the week.

Great premise, super addictive, but bad cast and execution

This show was great when I first started watching it. I was addicted - the premise was great, and personally relatable for me - I related to a lot of the cast members as despite being quite a bit younger than them I felt the same way about dating. However, they brushed through the ‘makeover’ element and severely underplayed it. My next big qualm was the SEVERE mistreatment of cast members Mi-ji and Seung-chan. Despite being cast members that were introduced relatively early for game changers (as typically in other shows they are introduced quite a bit later) they had NO screen time. NO dates, NO choices, we didn’t even have an update on WHO they liked? Were they even there? It would be fine for them to get less screen time sure, but they were IGNORED? This was honestly horrible of the producers and it leads me to disregard them. It’s not professional, and it’s not normal conduct. I feel horrible for these two. My next is not their fault, but the cast was horribly bull-headed and the girls especially were just plain mean.
Yeolmyung was plain rude to jae-yun. Jiyeon was rude and dismissive as soon as she got what she wanted. Jeong-mok is a walking red flag. And barely any of them matched, because each of them was fixated on someone they had talked to for ten seconds at the beginning of the show, despite that person clearly being interested in them??!!!! So whilst i loved watching this show, especially for a dating show - i surprisingly didn’t lose as much interest as i usually do - the conclusion was horrifying and i think the producers need to step it up if this show gets a S2. One, not all of our cast members need to be ‘traumatised’. They need therapy, not a partner. Two, the game changers need to ACTUALLY change something and NOT be ignored - everyone needs screen time, albeit little. Three, we need to stop treating the walking red flags like they are romantic prodigies. Make the activities a little more interesting, and extend the period. But I enjoyed watching this, so that’s why it has a high rating. The producers just underplayed a golden concept.

The Cute Awkwardness

This is a refreshing reality show with a cast of regular people who lacked or little dating experience looking for a relationship. They all have solid careers and used it as an excuse not to date. The MCs are hilarious with En Ji (Earth Arcade), 2 well known and visible kdrama actor and actress and a popular Korean indie singer as their mentors who gave them social advice and makeovers. The MC reactions to the cast’s progress are hilarious and heartwarming calling them out on the missed social cues and visible opportunities to connect even further. Regardless, it’s quite entertaining and you’re rooting for them to make a connection between each other. You’re living thru the cast to succeed for a happy relationship

Why

Why do people say that they've been single since birth? That's not possible. For me, it only counts from adulthood.

I'm so sorry for Y Do. She didn't deserve that. She should forget the guy quickly because if he lies to her like that, it would never have worked out in her private life.

And where can I find out if the two couples are still together after some time?

It has a great start & the hosts are funny

I was enjoying this reality show, the hosts were making me laugh and the participants were cute . After episode 6 I noticed that they only focus on 3 members of the cast, it turned extremely boring. We didn't get to see enough of the others participants. I think it was promising but it did not delivered at the end.

I was instantly drawn to the show when i watched the 1st episode. I loved the idea of giving eternal singles a chance at finding love. I was soo excited to see these people who’ve never dated before be able to find someone here !! I loved the hosts, their reactions were soo raw and bold. I especially loved car the garden both as a host and mentor.

I loved the premise of the show but problem lies with the cast members. Girls were beautiful and normal in every aspect . Boys were the real problem!! I get they have never dated and were shy and clumsy but as was the girls but they made tons of effort!! The guys had zero communication skills, zero game, zero emotional intelligence, they couldn’t even take direct hints !! It did made a good laugh but when u think about the girls and the hopes they would have for their first dating experience , I felt devastated!! Are these the guys they will get to date !! That’s not fair!! And no,I am not talking about their looks here but their entire personalities were just weird. For instance Sang-ho was soo dumb and it seems like he only came on the show for a holiday! He literally put zero effort even when Jisu directly told him about her interest!! But no effort at all . And hyun kyu started to act like a literal stalker at one point. I get he was trying his best but he was too much to handle at times !!
I think majority girls fell for jeong mok because he was the only normal guy out of them all. Though he was really mean tbh. I didn’t like how he suddenly flipped on Yido. I just couldn’t root for him after that. I also had high hopes for jae-yoon but it will take him a lot of time to be expressive and communicate like a normal person. No wonder all girls who chose him for 1st impression changed their choices later.
Yido !! Ah my dear Yido I get why she reacted like that , bcz she just stated to open up and it ended before she could fully do that ! It’s sad but she showed her real emotion and that was soo brave of her. Minhong, came out as such a mature and cool person. She is truly amazing!!
It was frustrating to watch Jisu go back and forth between her choices but I get her bcz look at the guys among whom she has to pick! The avoidant one and super clingy one!! I get her I guess. But I am glad she took a leap of faith in the end and gave seungli a chance. He is a cool guy and with guidance can totally become better!
Overall I realised that it’s actually hard to change your ways when you start dating late. I could relate soo much to the singles as they were raw and real. Another thought that crossed my mind is that even when people are desperate to date they still don’t go just for anyone. Everyone got soo many preferences and in today’s time it’s hard because people have soo many preferences. Girls mostly are single bcz they have standards and guys usually don’t meet those standards.

More interesting and sincere contestants than usual

Seems like I had a different reaction to this show than most did. In contrast to all the complaints I've seen, I loved it. The contestants were the most interesting, sincere, and relatable I've ever seen in a K dating show. I felt that most of them were truly looking for love and not just trying to break into show business or promote themselves as influencers.

Also, the panel was one of the most perceptive and helpful that I've seen. We didn't get too much of them, and what we did get showed a lot of wisdom. I especially appreciated In-guk's contributions, and I never realized he was such an emotionally intelligent person.

The directing and editing and production were also very high quality. This is one way in which I think this beat one of my other favorite K dating shows, Exchange. I preferred the tighter editing to Exchange's looser editing.

And this cast of girls was one of the most likable and interesting I've ever seen. I really wished the best for every one of them (except I never got to know poor Mi-ji). It's amazing to think that such attractive and appealing people have never been in a relationship before. But when you learn about their past traumas and issues, you can understand why, and then you come to care about them more.

Of course, the show isn't without its flaws. The girls really deserved better than this bunch of guys. Unlike with the girls, with the guys, it's obvious why they've had such a hard time with dating despite their good looks. Every one of them has major, deal-breaking flaws in their personalities (except that I never really learned what Seung-chan's flaws or assets were), whether it's being totally self-centered, terrible listeners, terrible conversationalists, neurotic, moody, overly competitive, borderline autistic, indecisive, etc. The guy's flaws made me question their ability to maintain a long-term relationship, whereas I thought all of the girls had promise for overcoming their issues.

And because the show was shorter than other shows like Exchange, I can understand some of the criticism about the editing, especially with the cursory treatment of the 2 gamechangers (they were anything but that). But I still feel they did a good job condensing the hundreds (or thousands) of hours of video into a coherent, fast-paced narrative that never bores. The most frustrating thing about bad editing in a Korean dating show is when they waste their very limited airtime with repetitive or trivial filler scenes that make it obvious that the staff just quickly threw a bunch of cuts together to make their aggressive deadline. I never felt that way about Better Late Than Single, and I appreciate its higher level of production quality.

I really hope that these contestants, who are probably a lot more fragile than most show biz types and influencers, are shielded from all the psycho hate that I see online. Even someone like Jeong-mok, who clumsily hurt the feelings of several girls on the show, doesn't deserve the hate. Come on, the guy was trying his best despite his aggravating problems clearly communicating his decisions and intentions. He just has some personality issues, and he's not some malicious villain like you see on lots of other shows. It was very brave of all of them to come on a show like this and expose themselves to all the crazy mobs out there.

chance to pair up

Twelve people are assisted and transformed for their dates. Four "cupids" act as parents and defense attorneys. At first, they're all proud, but after the first meeting, I got the feeling they wanted to disown them.
The more I watched this show, the more I feared that the initial transformation and preparation would be of little use. If you were awkward, you still are; if you were too talkative, you'll be talkative again; if you had insecurities, they'll be exacerbated here... In short, sooner or later you'll fall back into it! The mistakes they made previously in approaching the opposite sex will recure.
In that sense, this show was a bit of a flop.
It's a shame because I really liked the idea of taking "losers" and giving them the chance to pair up with someone.
