Soft vibes, steamy kisses, and zero drama—Shimane serves BL comfort with heat!

P and the adorable chaos twins Pan & Plai are back from Kiseki in Tokyo Chapter 2, and it honestly feels like we’re third-wheeling their Japan trip. No toxic drama, no love rivals—just wholesome vibes, good food, and a random “hey let’s all move in together” plan that somehow works. 👫👬✈️

Plot? Sure… if you count “friends hanging out, sightseeing, and convincing their Thai pals to shack up in Shimane” as a plot. But honestly? I’m not mad. Sometimes you don’t need rollercoaster drama—just soft, slice-of-life moments that feel like a warm blanket (with occasional spicy scenes to keep you awake 😉).

Speaking of spice… THIS is how you do intimacy in BL. Every kiss? Hot. Every NC scene? Steamy but not cringe. Realistic, tender, and just the right amount of “oops, did I just replay that?” energy. 🔥

Look, I get why some people say “it’s boring” or “there’s no plot.” But let’s be honest—we’re not here for Shakespeare. We’re here for pretty boys, beautiful Japan scenery, and NC scenes that actually deliver. And on that front, Season of Love in Shimane absolutely nails it. A cozy, low-stakes binge that hit the spot on my Sunday night.

A tourist ad with less sex compared to Kiseki Chapter 2... and overall awful!

OMG, I did not write a review for that... and many reviews I saw are way way way to positive. This show was boring as hell... While the Kiseki crap had a lot of sex scenes, they cut down on them in this series... The only thing nice in this show is the nature, but of course it's a tourist ad for Shimane/Japan.

Other than that, the story was extremely thin, extremely boring and I have no clue why such stuff is financed at all. Each episodes goes over an hour and nearly nothing is happening besides some banter and useless dialoge. Even the background music feels boring...

The best I can say, it does not have an overly stupid story, but there is not much story to begin with. It's just dragging on for ages... and of course we have the typical cringe thai "comedic" bits which are neither funny nor helpful, especially with the sounds, The actors are the poorest of them all. We know that Tontae can act, but the performances of all of them were just bad.

Kissing and NC-scenes don't make a good BL. This is an awful show and you should avoid it!

The storyline is simple but entertaining, cute and fun

I think this series has gotten some unfair reviews. You should watch it for yourself. I like it alot. The plot is original and fresh.

Its much better than the first series, but I suggest watching the first series before watching this one, because season 2 is a continuation of season 1.

The series is light hearted abd fun. The show is full of cute and fluffy moments. The leads are adorable with fantastic chemistry. The humor works and blends in well with the storyline.

The actors are extremly handsome and the NC scenes are very realistic and well acted. The actors are not afraid to get close and the kissing scenes are authentic.

I love the beautiful scenery. Japan is a lovely country and the storyline supports the tourism aspects. It makes sense to visit the tourist locations because one of the leads writes a destination articles.

Let me know if you agree in the comments.

PWTP -- Porn With Travel Promotion, part 2 (now with added plot!)

Someone watched "Kiseki Chapter 2", and really said "This makes me want to sponsor a second season"? Well, why not.

Compared to the prequel, this one was an improvement, which isn't saying much -- it's still soft porn with travel advertisement more than anything else.

The outside shots in Japan were certainly not bad, and the actors were certainly better than before -- although I can't say whether this was because they had better directing (or rather, any directing at all) or because they were more comfortable in their presence before a camera.

The sex scenes were longer and more detailed, and had more variety than in the previous drama. Whether they are in any way realistic, I'll leave that to every viewer's own judgement. I did like that most of the sex scenes with P and Pan had a certain levity and a good amount of playfulness to them, which I haven't often seen in BLs.

We also got somewhat of a story, and I think that contributed to the overall feeling that this season was more cohesive than the one before. I do wish that this premise (namely how the Thai way of promoting artists with "imagined couples" severely impacts their private life) were devoloped into a better story, there's a lot of potential there.
I think the plot -- simple as it is -- made the outings much better than in the prequel, in that I didn't make me want to skip the scenes; and it gave me a bit of background to connect with the characters. It also grounded the sex scenes a bit more and made them feel warmer than those in "Chapter 2".
And I admit it, I like the manager, even with all the toilet humour (he should definitely see a doctor about his bowel movements), and I hope he'll find his own lover some day.

The camera work is still on an elementary level, and especially the outing in the last episode looked and felt like an average vlog post.
That last episode was a let down plot-wise too -- I had hoped for a better resolution of the problem than just "yeah, the other hashtag is trending now, so it's all good" -- and in the last few minutes, it just kind of fizzled out.

This is one of those dramas I choose to watch when I am feeling physically unwell, as it doesn't require me to engage with anything much, and still is somewhat entertaining.
To be honest, there are Thai BLs with worse plots and/or acting ("Coffee Melody", "The Renovation", "2Gether", "Bad Guy My Boss") which nevertheless get loved by some because the actors are "cute" or something like that.
However, I can't in good conscience recommend this drama.

More Authentic Than Rumored

Notice the wide range of reviews for this follow-up series- ignore the vague reviews and zero in on specific criticisms.

I watched season one (Kiseki Chapter 2) owing to its infamy- and in many ways, that infamy is earned.

Both season one and two do something most casual BL watchers don’t see too often- slice of life very much from the male perspective. Most BL is written by women for women and (especially season two) I feel Kiseki Chapter 2 and Shimane are written from the male perspective, which is what makes it a unique BL entry.

The interplay amongst the male characters runs the spectrum from awkward to vulnerable not the way women imagine men to be, but more how men are. Male bonding and friendship is written realistically here and it happens over fart jokes, homoerotic drinking games, and a slow slip of their masks to reveal more authentic feelings.

Shimane definitely has the more traditional story map of conflicts and resolutions, but for me, that isn’t the strength of this series. The strength of the series is in the quiet moments between characters who are unsure if feelings are enough to overcome problems. The quiet and tender moments in bed, the more realistic visual of men enjoying each other’s bodies without all the female-written romanticizing.

Take The P from Plot (since there wasn't one) and replace the C in Corn.

what can I say. To each their own. There is nothing wrong with watching corn if that is your thing as long as you're consenting adult.

But this is corn masquerading as a Boys' Love Series from what I can only say it is not BL. You have the twins freshly bleached from top to bottom willing to show their "love" to their brunette counterparts. More or less it's a Japanese Travel Series where all roads lead to bed, sink, bathroom, kitchen or any surface to leave well for the sake of modesty I'll let you insert a suitable word after leave.

Kiseki Chapter 2 was bad. This was slightly worse.

Again TO Each Their Own.

YAH IT'S GOOD

Okay so I think that some people are exaggerating? I saw many comments saying it's basically porn without plot. You guys made is seem like the main characters fck every five minutes. Gosh. I admit the story isn't anything groundbreaking but still - it's good, worth watching and I would never called it porn without plot. The episodes (even though they're long) don't bore me at all. The series is fun, hilarious (especially with Ton's character), nothing angsty (well only one problem - the imaginary couple) I like the actors and how they're acting. And yeah we do have NC scenes that are realistic and show a lot (the bare cheeks out -I'm talking about you😂) but still given that the episodes are quite long it doesn't seem that there's too many NC scenes? It's all right. Unless the ending won't be satisfactory for me, I rate this series 9 out of 10

Definitely sponsored by the Japan National Tourism Organization

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh...........
How did I not see this coming, and why did I not steer clear..
Another eight episodes spent watching them travel around Japan, seeing places, eating food and making out, once again, unnecessarily.

This one is somehow worse than season 1, solely because of the fact that someone watched the first season and went, "You know what? What this needs is a sequel!"
It did not need a sequel.

To be fair though, I did learn about some interesting places in Japan through it, so I can't really say it didn't serve it's purpose, but creating a series for tourism sake is just not an appealing concept to me. If this were a direct tourism ad, I would definitely feel differently, but all the camouflage they attempted couldn't help detach the story from the tourism and I was just not a fan.

The story is pretty much the same thing as season 1, the twins and two other new guys come to Japan, they live with the guy who lived in Japan in season 1, they travel, they eat and then do some NSFW stuff. It's like watching the world's worst travel vlog, where even something interesting can be turned into something incredibly boring.

Once again, it is a repeat cycle of eat/drink/play/travel/make out, with the added bonus of weird love square. Pointless drama in a drama that was pointless, they've completely forgotten that another character existed in the prequel (he is mentioned zero), and you're just begging the for a 10x speed to exist so you can get through it.

I had an incredibly hard time concentrating, not for lack of trying, but it was just not good enough to keep my attention. The characters only purpose in the plot seem to be delivering long, drawn out explanations for tourist sites, or to do NSFW stuff - which again, has no real connection to the actual plot?

I don't know, it's an actual mess. It was supposed to be a follow up to the first season - at least one of the couples, but it turned into a bad tourism advert.

The cherry on top? Each episode is around an hour long, so you can't even finish it quickly.

To sum up:
WORST. VACATION. EVER.

Honestly, I was expecting more of the same, but I was curious to see how P and Pan’s story would unfold. To be fair, this season was way better than the first. Like it or not, there's a plot, simple, yeah, but if it had been developed better, it could’ve turned into something really great. Still, it was light and fun enough to keep me entertained. The travel vlog vibe didn’t bother me at all, especially since I already knew it was part of the storyline. The acting definitely improved, the chemistry between the cast is on point, and the NC scenes are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 . And the scenery is really gorgeous.

a wild tourism ad (watch suggestions)

Overall: we have a tourism ad (sightseeing, taking pictures, eating) with some very explicit NSFW thrown in. Kiseki chapter 2 (my review https://kisskh.at/759779-kiseki-chapter-2) is the first one though you don't need to watch it to watch this. 8 episodes about an hour each. Aired on GagaOOLala (worldwide except South Korea, Thailand, Japan) https://www.gagaoolala.com/en/videos/5312/season-of-love-in-shimane-2025-e01 ; uncut on WeTV https://wetv.vip/en/play/w7dp20ytapqvued/w4101uahlor-EP01%3A_Ai_no_Kisetsu_in_Shimane ; full version for members on 9NAA YouTube (I think the full version on YouTube is also cut) ; cut on YouTube (not available in SE Asia) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R96wlltW_5o and also on Viu (likely Thailand). The production company 9NAA made: Kiseki Chapter 2, Venus In The Sky, Check Out, Skinship and I Am Your King.

Cut vs. Uncut - watch uncut not on YouTube because episode 3 was 53:48 on Gaga but only 46:12 for the full version on YouTube which was the same run-time as the two parts on YouTube.

Watch Suggestions (focuses on cute/steamy parts)
- episode 1 watch 14-17:50
- episode 2 watch 3:50-4:35, 12:10-14.35, 23-23:50, 33:10-38:35, 47:40-end
- episode 3 watch beginning-3, 6-9:15, 20:30-25:30, 44:45-end
- episode 4 watch 25:10-45:30
- episode 5 watch 6:10-10:20 and 29:30-end
- episode 6 watch 3:20-6:45
- episode 7 watch 21-26 (or thru 32:40), 39-43 and 51:05-1hr3m25s
- episode 8 watch 3-the end (steamy scenes around 13 minutes)

What I Liked
- scenery
- P has fantastic acting with his eyes, he conveys: jealousy, flirtiness, love and so much more
- steamy parts (hoping they had an intimacy coordinator this time and I could have done without the black socks on his feet in episode 3)
- role playing in episode 5, talking about what the other person likes
- consent in episode 7
- the product placement at the end of episode 7 was hilarious
- episode 8 was nice touring/doing date things around Bangkok

Room For Improvement
- it was pretty slow paced and I found it difficult to get through even watching at a faster speed
- love rival/jealousy
- did not need the bathroom scenes in episode 1, nor the other times they mentioned their bodily functions/toilet humor
- comedy sound effects did not make things funny
- odd in episode 7 why one guy never took his sweater off
- I normally like natural kissing noises but it was too loud in episode 7 (the first NSFW scene)

Light, sweet, steamy, and memorable bl

Just watch. You'll be missing out on a very sweet , light hearted bl if you listen to the negative reviews. It was just what i needed after a very long week.No drama, just sweet, steamy and heart warming. Oh and the actors are super hot🫢☺️. P & Pan😋.
The kisses, oh my God. The chemistry, holy ghost! I enjoyed it to the fullest. There is no story, and i love that about it. Just a simple tag along to a holiday. No heavy plot, just love, romance and beautiful views. Life has a lot of serious staff already, so something light to watch goes a long way, at least for me.

Well, ???

What I thought of the series: I've been going back and forth when it comes to watching this series. Now I've gotten around to it. Thailand is known for being able to have 🌶 NC but this one probably took the prize for it. :O I'm probably at a loss for words after this.
