Something is not right all right and it is with this series

This series spends 90% of its time on miscommunication that it barely left time for there to be actual plot. Like who wrote this. The characters were literally going back and forth for 7 episodes and this only 8 episodes. Like if we removed the miscommunication aspect and all the unnecessary stuff,it would take only like 4 episodes to cover this whole series properly tbh. The characters weren't clicking at all. At first you could sympathize with them but as time move on they became really really annoying. Do Ba couldn't make him his fucking mind. Like at first you can sympathize with him. Victim of unrequited love and his crush is a clueless dumbbell but how much long can you sympathize. Bro was so rude to his supposed crush and didn't like it when he liked him back. Like what? Make up your damn mid. And Ji Hun as well, speak the fuck up. He was like a hamster in front of an eagle the entire time. Didn't have free will of his own or his own voice and just did anything that Do Ba did, like grow a pair bruh. And lastly 'the second romantic male lead' is more like a tool from the beginning till the end, just to bring the two together. That was his entire purpose in the series. His heart break scene didn't even feel genuine cuz he knew Do Ba only for a month or something. Just made that whole scene ridiculous. Now the acting was good, that i must say but without any plot what will they act. Series is a whole waste of time tbh. Enjoyed it at first but then this series just dragged itself to the grave.

Something is just frustrating

About half way in i saw a few comments about this being frustrating, and while I had felt a slight hint of frustration nothing could prepare me for the frustration to come.

In another bubbly (2 of them actually) meet stubborn icicle and get absolutely no where....

The side characters are okay, acting varied in quality and if you look beyond the frustration the story is actually not bad. Childhood friends turned lovers vs new guy takes over?

Will the frustration ever end and lead to some kind of romance? and if so who will it be?

Will the girl get her crush? or will this end in just a whole pile of frustrated viewers and one sided crushes?

It is short enough to make the frustration bearable, but damn did I want to shake some people up.

YOUR FEELINGS ARE YOURS AND YOURS ALONE.

I'm seeing a lot of people saying this is a miscommunication issue.
No.
This is Do bawoo being mean, inconsiderate, and selfish.
It's not compulsory for people to return your feelings. You are not entitled to that.
He liked Jihoon and didn't say anything that is understandable. Jihoon treats him lime a friend, which is the same way he treats jihoon, so why is he out there making himself the victim?
Jihoon likes him.
Jihoon says nothing to protect their friendship.
look at the people who confessed to Bawoo and got rejected. He cut them off even when they wanted to continue being friends. He keeps saying dating is a burden. I wouldn't confess to him either.

What hurt me truly is the back and forth and the amount of emotional abuse he put Jihoon through. Never ever treat anyone like that.
I understand cutting off a friend if you can't control your feelings for them, but be serious about it. All those back and forth will lead nowhere.
I don't know who came up with Hamin's character, but he has a very toxic view of life and managed to add Bawoo into that bubble.
The entire story had me pissed.
I hated both of them and his sister.
I was praying for them to end up together cus they deserve each other.
The blatant trampling on Jihoon's self-esteem was not it, and hw deserves better.
The main leads had no screen time if they were not fighting.
It's too chaotic.
Don't try to force your feelings on others, and people are not Villians because they don't return your feelings.

They were not running in circles, they were running a circus…

And I became the Chief Clown with zero regrets. It’s not that something was not right, everything was wrong, but somehow felt just right.

The whole show was stupid. The premise itself and the conclusion it led to made me laugh more than once. Yes, it might have been a slightly “I’m going crazy with this bullshit” laugh, but nonetheless, I was entertained. And by all means this should not have been this fun to watch.

The whole plot is one and the same thing - one misunderstanding and countless miscommunications and wrong assumptions about it… over and over and over again. Ba U? Extremely determined to self-sabotage any potential hope for happiness. He literally is the type of a person who would say “no you don’t” after someone confesses their feelings to them. He was so confident and assured in his wrong assumptions, facts, logic and evidence could not change his mind. He was delulu.

Then we have Ji Hun, my man was going with the flow with no action so hard he was basically not moving at all, but spinning around getting dizzy, just to be like “I guess I was not clear about it” - you were not unclear - you made no statements, you did nothing. He was also delulu.

And then we had Ha Min, who was the cherry on top of this radioactive cake. Loved him since episode one. He knows no boundaries and is so cheeky about it, it was hard for me not to appreciate his presence. He also worked double shifts to make sense of Ba U and Ji Hoon, and if you ask me, made all the right choices. No matter how unhinged he might seem, he was in fact the only one that was not delulu.

While the repetitiveness of the plot did not bother me at all (I actually found it weirdly entertaining), I cannot say the same about the directing and editing. What’s the point of having longer episodes, when we keep getting flashbacks of things that just happened? Characters making the same mistakes all the time is one thing, but then me having to witness them twice every time is just too much.

Acting wise it was fine. I did like Jung Je Hyeon and Ji Min Seo a lot in their roles, but Choi Min Ho as Do Ba U did not fully convince me in some scenes. Sadly, I think it’s the eyes - surprised look with no real emotions behind them.

Overall, if someone asked me why I liked it, I won’t be able to answer and not look crazy. I liked it for all the wrong reasons. I liked it for the flaws and how ridiculously entertaining they were.

Something's Not Right For Real

One of the perks of this series was that it wasn't a straight open and shut case of unrequited love. It played out far differently than expected and truly was a welcome change from the norm. Yes there was the burdensome pining of one for the other but with a twist. What if, both loved him back? Do Ba U, Ji Hun and Jung Ha Min. Yes, one too many. Over 8 episodes, we were pulled to the depths of despair, confusion, resignation and euphoria. Good stuff.

Do Ba U was in love with Ji Hun and Jung Ha Min fell in love with Do Ba U. All of this would hinge on Do Ba U. By the 6th episode I was ready to slap Do Ba U and banish Jung Ha Min to the furthest region I could find. He didn't deserve hell but close enough. What right does the interloper think he has to dare speak to Jung Ha Min and outrageously speaks commands as if they were to be obeyed. Do Ba U, unable to tell Ji Hun of his love, unilaterally decides, to end their long bff friendship. Ji Hun, confused, struggles to understand and follows him around to get to the bottom of it. Gradually, he contacts him less and less and Jung Ha Min fills in more and more. There is an ease between them as the contents of a diary encourage more interactions. Over the course of their meeting, he has fallen for the soft words he as read in the diary and adapted it to his comic book project. He also develops feelings for him. The can discuss any and everything and they do. The viewer feels the shift as it happens. The outsider is left unknowing and his pain and confusion is palpable.

This was smartly written, a bit depressing but enjoyable. Do Ba U's feelings were strongly conveyed through his eyes. Truth be told, Ji Hun was the cutest lost bunny throughout. He was bewildered by Do Ba U's request but remained as faithful as anyone can be. He felt like he was losing part of his soul as they had been friends for most of his life. These actors did well. The slow burn gl couple were also a joy to watch.

My only peeve, Ji Hun was left to be in pain for far too long. A friend would not treat a friend like this. At least, Do Ba U, no matter how conflicted he was, he should have had a believable excuse. The ending is as it should be and to answer the previous question: What if, both loved him back? Go watch.

I get the frustration with the lack of communication, but if Do Ba Woo had just said, “I like you,” and Jin Hun immediately understood it romantically, then what would the show be about?

I genuinely loved this series. It kept me hooked, episode after episode. It’s about two friends who fall for each other but are too scared to confess their feelings, worried it might ruin their friendship. Was it slow? Yeah, but I thought the pacing was just right. Plus, it’s only eight episodes, each under 30 minutes long. If it had dragged on or had longer episodes, I might’ve felt differently. But honestly, the timing worked for me.

The entire cast delivered outstanding performances, especially the three male leads. They conveyed their characters’ emotions so naturally, and their chemistry was amazing. Watching the characters grow throughout the show was really satisfying, and Ha Min’s actions at the end really surprised me.

Stunning cinematography paired with a beautiful OST.

idk I'm biased and I forced myself to watch it

It started well and then it got down a path I didn't want to follow.
To get it straight I was rooting for Ha Min, i knew he didn't stand a chance but during the whole series we only got moments btw Ba woo and him getting to know eo and Ba woo being mean with Jihoon.
For me the ending was a rushed mess btw flashbacks and nonsensical events.
I know, the purpose of the story was to clear misunderstanding btw the main couple and help HaMin stop being full of himself and experience one sided love.

Something is Not Right – The Fragile Line Between Friendship and Love

Adapted from the webtoon Who Can Define Popularity? by Tak Bon, the Korean BL drama Something is Not Right brings together Choi Min Ho as Do Ba U, Jung Je Hyeon as Ji Hun, and Ji Min Seo as Jung Ha Min in a story that is as much about unspoken truths as it is about learning to listen. At its core, it’s a tale of missed chances, fragile longing, and the delicate thread that binds two friends who don’t quite know how to cross that final line.

The story opens with a slow burn that’s both familiar and arresting. Ji Hun and Do Ba U have been friends for years, tethered by a bond that neither has been brave enough to define. When Ba U’s quiet, unspoken love for Ji Hun becomes too much to bear, he tries to sever their connection, forcing Ji Hun into a corner he wasn’t ready to face. It’s tender. It’s awkward. And it’s the perfect kind of messy.

A Study in Frustration

I write this based on the series in general, not just my opinion. In my opinion, if I'd known the frustration, I might have skipped it.

For this being the first series for the three leads, they did very well. Nothing in the acting itself made me cringe. The story line? Someone needs to slap them for making eight episodes of "Are you kidding me?". The frustration was REAL. I have not wanted to slap a character so much since Boston for sheer WTF are you saying/doing. The kiss scenes are reasonable for a Korean series, but I'd kind of liked to see something more dramatic for at least one of them.

Why I dont pay too much attention to reviews

I am glad I chose to watch this series even though the reviews weren't great. I thoroughly enjoyed this series.
Was it the best? By no means. Was there way too much miscommunication? Yupppppp. And I agree where a couple reviews mentioned the flashbacks. Yes, they were annoying.
But all in all, I just enjoyed it for what it was. I thought the production was good, the acting was good, and I liked the story. Personally, im so used to the miscommunication plot angle I barely let it bother me anymore. Every drama i watch could be over in 2 episodes if there was communication. Im glad it was 8 episodes. Anymore and it would have bothered me and ruined the series.
I know everyone has an opinion and thats what makes it so great. My opinion is just give the series a chance. It might surprise you. 😊

8 episodes full of crap.

You like me? No i don't, i ran away cuz i like you. So do you like me? No I dont. That was going on till the end. GEEZUS. I had to make an account BECAUSE it was frustrating and painful to watch. The script was probably written when the writer is on their lunch breaks on their normal job. I would siggest to stay away from this one.

UNREQUITED LOVE

Hello! I have been currently watching this new ongoing series, caught me by the title itself "Something's Not Right." It immediately took me only seconds to start this series. At first, I was shoock after finding it that it only have 2 episodes, I assumed that maybe the durations contains a hours but after I click it, I received close to 30mins duration. It bothers me so I opened my safari and search the title. Then here I was "it's ongoing."

I am really happy to share my insights about this K-BL series as I'm writing this, episode 1 really keep my self from waiting for the next episodes because I was really super duper related about the "unrequired love," what it makes more really curiousing to watch is that it's happened to Doo Ba Wu with his bestfriend Ji-Hoon. I'm not related with loving a one childhood friend but the title itself "Something's Not Right," really suits the story hehe. I am enjoying it while watching because I can learn from other perspective of what is "unrequited love" feels for them and how they manage to face with it.

So much to say, I really love this K-BL series even it's still ongoing and still haven't found out what is the ending. But, I trust this kind of series and much preferred than those other wild BL Series. Hehe, no hates! My type of BL to watch is those leads who facing backburner things or SLOW BURN, the story making it more intense for me.

I hope this series will achieve a highest rate and for those watchers out there, I hope you all give chances for this loveable kind of story to watch and from me, I highly recommend this! <33

And please for the director and writer, I hope you still give this a following seasons because eight episodes and 30mins duration is not enough for someone like me and I assure for others too! No negative stuffs, only improvement!

I really love this series!
