Solid healing drama and very memeable
I really enjoyed this show and the chemistry between the actors. I think it was a drama that is best enjoyed when airing. I feel like watching two episodes per week was perfect.I enjoyed how funny and light this drama felt. I also liked the comedy of the show.
Shin Yeeun and Lee Jaewook are so good at crying. Like they made me so sad whenever they were crying. I hope they get to work together in the future on another project. Their chemistry feels very natural.
I also liked how the second lead plot was solved relatively quickly and how he became very lovable even if plutonic. I’ll miss the vibes this drama gave every single week.

Solid and Satisfying!
After reading some of the reviews, I kind of felt like I watched a totally different drama than some others!Doctor On The Edge's ratings surprised me as I thought, in fact, it delivered so much more than the medical rom com it was advertised to be.
For myself, it was a truly satisfying drama with just the right amount of emotional and comedic moments. Never so much comedy you cringed and the emotions, including the romances, checked all the boxes. I really never once wanted to "fast forward" through part of an episode but rather was really absorbed with each one...and felt kind of sad to see the drama end.
The story arc was easy to follow and well executed throughout. The stories inside the drama were really touching...giving us some insight into many of the supporting cast and even, at times, allowing for some good healthy tearing up. Those quietly poignant instances were beautifully done and remindful for me, of some of the stories that pulled at my heartstrings in the wonderful drama When You Wish Upon Me.
I thought the performances by the WHOLE cast were absolutely solid in this drama so kudos to the actors and the casting agency!
I also felt strong chemistry with both couples, lead and secondary: Lee Jae Wook and Shin Ye Eun were a great match; well balanced , kind of each others yin and yang. LJW is a favorite of mine and it was really nice to watch him in a drama I enjoyed all the way through!
Can I say, too, how happy I was to see that the talented and versitle Kim Yoon Woo from My Dearest was part of the second couple in DOTE. He played alongside a newbie for me, Lee Soo Kyung, who was captivating as the local nurse. They were also a well matched and gotta say adorable pair! And then, of course, shall we talk about Mr. Hong Min Gi? What a treat he is/was...
All in all I thought Doctor On The Edge a GREAT drama, and probably one I'll rewatch when I need something that strikes the right chord throughout and leaves me feeling good.

A Strong Start with Stunning Cinematography (And Maybe a Little Shin Ye-eun Bias)
I’ve really enjoyed the start of Doctor on the Edge so far. The first episode does a great job balancing medical drama with a light romantic-comedy feel, and the island setting gives the series a refreshing atmosphere. The cinematography is especially beautiful—the coastal scenery and wide shots of the island add a lot of charm and make the drama feel warm and immersive.One thing I wasn’t completely sold on was the AI element. It felt a bit unnecessary and didn’t add much to the story for me. That said, just because I found that aspect unnecessary doesn’t mean the show is any less good. The heart of the drama is still its characters, relationships, and the small-community setting, and those elements are working well so far.
Lee Jae-wook is already convincing as Do Ji-ui, but I have to admit I may be a little biased when it comes to Shin Ye-eun. She’s one of the reasons I was excited for this drama in the first place, and her charm and screen presence immediately stand out as Yook Ha-ri. I’m looking forward to seeing more of her character as the story develops.
Overall, Doctor on the Edge is off to a strong start. It’s too early to judge the entire series, but the first episode has definitely made me want to keep watching.

Too bad they didn't get the medical acts accurately
ML can totally pull off goofy and adorable-he's comfortable not looking suave (made me think of how unconvincing Phantom Lawyer ML was NOT comfortable being funny) and there is a nice contrast to the handsome other lead who does play suave and caring third wheel (he also played that well in My Beloved Thief where he first caught my attention as an actor to watch). I agree with some of the reviews that the story drags a bit, so I just waited for a few more episodes to binge vs. when I really like a drama, I'm there at midnight to watch the next episode.My add here is that I've noticed that the medical scenes realism are going down fast--lots of gory injuries and an emphasis on suturing and skill putting in an IV ...but my goodness, no gloves? and when covered with blood--no washing it off, just some tissue wiping? and when treating one's own injury-one's hands are still bloody from treating a patient? Basic medical sterile/pathogen avoidance practice flew out the window, which, while I know it's a drama, I lost focus on believability.

This drama deserves your time!!!
To be honest i started this drama bcz of LJW. But the story was super healing. Rare drama where there is no toxicity even though there is a love triangle there is no unnecessary push and pull. It will kind of show you the purity of slow life. The drama was pretty well written. The only thing i was unhappy about was the FL character was not made a bit stronger and decisive. But that was not end of the world.About the actors, each and every did their job. Even the second couple was so lovely that you will get drawn towards their character. If you love a healing romantic and no toxicity drama. thissssss is for you.

A Beautiful, Healing Island Ride that Missed the Perfect 10 Mark
Doctor on the Edge just wrapped, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable, heartwarming ride.What really made the plot stand out to me was the male lead's character design. Unlike the typical "perfect, untouchable" K-drama male leads, Do Ji-ui felt incredibly human. Having past trauma that made him terrified of the sea—especially while being exiled to a remote island—gave him a genuine flaw to work through. Lee Jae-wook's portrayal of this trauma felt intensely real and heavy. Beside him, Shin Ye-eun was fantastic. She is not only stunning but has incredible range, effortlessly pulling off scenes whether she needs to be tough, sad, cute, or happy.
Their connection felt special, especially because she was the one who helped him face his fear of water. While their slow-burn chemistry was nice to watch, it did lack those intense, butterfly-inducing "giddy" romantic moments. Additionally, the second male lead chasing after her felt unnecessary and didn't add much to the narrative.
The cozy island community life, the closeness of the villagers, and the heartwarming grandmas were easily the highlight of the setting. However, the show's biggest flaw was its flow. The medical cases felt a bit disjointed—like one would end and another would immediately start without a smooth transition.
As for the finale, it wrapped up well and gave everyone a nice step forward into their futures, but the final conflicts (like the main lead's dilemma and the nurse's sudden eye problem) felt like they came out of nowhere. I would have loved less random last-minute drama and more romance for our main leads. That being said, the second lead couple completely stole my heart! Even though the nurse could be a bit annoying by jumping to conclusions and hiding things, I was so invested in their story and wished we got to see even more of them.

A comforting drama that shines through its characters, not its plot
I went into Doctor on the Edge expecting a typical medical drama, but it ended up being more of a healing slice-of-life with medicine as the backdrop. If you’re expecting intense surgeries and nonstop hospital politics, this probably isn’t that kind of show. The focus is really on the characters, the island community, and how people slowly heal from their emotional scars.The biggest strength is definitely the atmosphere. The island setting feels refreshing, and the villagers actually grow on you instead of feeling like they’re just there for comic relief. There’s a warmth to the drama that makes it easy to watch after a long day. It isn’t trying to shock you every episode, and honestly… i appreciated that.
Lee Jae Wook carries the role really well. His character starts off frustrating at times, but his growth feels earned instead of rushed. Shin Ye Eun is charming too, although i do think her character could’ve been written with a bit more depth. Their chemistry isn’t explosive, but it’s comfortable, and by the end i found myself rooting for them.
The medical cases are emotional rather than groundbreaking. They’re more of a way to develop the characters than to show off complicated procedures. Sometimes the drama tries to juggle romance, comedy, healing, and medical stories all at once, and you can definitely feel the pacing slow down in the middle. There are also a few predictable tropes that seasoned K-drama fans will probably see coming from miles away.
That being said, i never really got bored. It has this quiet charm that’s hard to explain. It’s the kind of drama where you become attached to the people and the little moments instead of waiting for huge plot twists.
Overall, i wouldn’t call this a masterpiece or a must-watch for everyone, but it’s one of those genuinely comforting dramas that knows exactly what it wants to be. If you’re looking for something heartfelt, cozy, and character-driven, it’s absolutely worth your time. Just don’t go in expecting a high-stakes medical thriller, because that’s not what it’s trying to be.
Rating: 8.5/10. Not perfect, but memorable for all the right reasons.

A Solid Start?
It is amazing. I am anticipating it to be a 10 on 10 drama. This is my first medical drama so I'm very excited.The drama is actually nice at start. The story is sweet. I can feel a good and calm chemistry. I love when the characters are trying come out of their trauma. As someone accosiated with hospital and doctor the story is pretty realistic yet exaggerating(I personally love these kind of stories).
To all people who liked Hometown cha cha, this kdrama has a very similar storyline. Overall this kdrama is very good. I hope it doesn't disappoint.

The story captivates you right from the very first episode, especially with a subtle yet intriguing parallel between the two main characters that occurs for just a few seconds. In that moment, she instinctively answers a question he posed, completely unaware of the connection they share. The acting throughout the series is exceptionally well-executed, showcasing the talent of the cast in a remarkable way. Each character feels well-developed and relatable, adding depth to the narrative. I would strongly recommend "Doctor on the Edge" as a heartfelt healing romance K-drama that beautifully blends emotional storytelling with charming moments.Slowly waiting for the next update. Can't wait.

A Slow-Burn Drama That Actually Earns Its Warmth
I was not intending to watch this, but thought why not, and I am glad I did. It is exactly the kind of drama I enjoy, a character-driven drama about a man who has mastered emotional distance. Do Ji-ui is a polished Seoul plastic surgeon who is suddenly assigned to a remote island clinic through the public health doctor program. The premise is familiar, but the execution is gentle and sincere. The drama lets the island slowly dismantle Ji-ui’s defenses instead of forcing a quick transformation.The plot blends humor, medical cases, and a quiet mystery surrounding the island. The real focus is Ji-ui’s internal journey. The ocean terrifies him. The island frustrates him. The villagers disarm him. The clinic nurse, Yook Ha-ri, becomes the person who challenges him to confront the parts of himself he has avoided. The pacing is steady and unhurried. Small moments carry emotional weight. A shared meal, a misdiagnosis, a ferry ride, a conversation at sunset. The mystery elements add to the tension without overshadowing the emotional core of the story.
The Characters
Do Ji-ui is written with such restraint. He is not the typical cold male lead. He is someone who has built his identity around competence and control. The island strips both away. His trauma around water is handled with nuance, and his growth feels earned. I must say Lee Jae-wook delivers a grounded performance as Ji-ui with quiet tension. His posture, his eyes, his pauses all communicate a man who is constantly bracing himself. When he softens, it is subtle. When he breaks, it feels earned.
Yook Ha-ri, on the other hand, is the emotional anchor of the drama. She is warm without being naive. She is competent without being hardened. Her past is revealed slowly, and it reframes her kindness as a deliberate choice. She is not there to heal Ji-ui. She is there to challenge him and to stand beside him. Shin Ye-eun, in this role, brings a natural warmth to Ha-ri. Her performance is understated, which I believe is intentional, and that is why it works so beautifully. She lets emotional beats land without forcing them.
The chemistry between the leads is a slow burn, but it works. It grows through shared silences and small gestures rather than dramatic declarations. It feels adult and sincere.
The Islanders, well, the supporting cast as Islanders, give this drama its texture. They are stubborn, funny, flawed, and deeply human. They have their own conflicts and loyalty. Their presence makes the island feel lived in and believable. They are not props for the leads. They are part of the world that shapes Ji-ui’s transformation.
I think the reason this drama resonates with me is its message: healing is not a single breakthrough. It is a series of small, uncomfortable steps toward connection. I love how the writer, director, and actors shaped the island as a metaphor for the parts of ourselves we avoid. The memories we bury. The fears we rationalize. The relationships we keep at a distance. Ji-ui’s journey is not about becoming a better doctor or a better man. It is about learning to stay. In a place. In a relationship. In his own life. The show also highlights the gap between urban and rural healthcare. It reminds us as viewers that dignity and care should not depend on geography.
What I love about this drama is that it isn't loud and does not need to be. It does not rely on shock twists or exaggerated conflict. It trusts its characters and its emotional honesty. It is the kind of story that lingers because it is sincere. So, if you enjoy character-driven narratives, slow-burn romance, and stories about emotional reclamation, this drama delivers beautifully.

It wasn't that bad or that boring.
I got some good laughs out of it. Not sure why so much bad reviews. Atleast they didnt know each other when they were small...Do Ji Ui had his issues and because of Ji Ui's past lover, he took to heart what happened and it was hard for him to get over the past.
Yook Ha Ri had her own little problems but they found each other and their little dynamics worked.
There was no unnecessary love triangle.
Yong Ju Cheon and Um Jeong Seon stole it for me though, they were so cute and even though they were silly together, their chemistry was amazing!
What I would wanted to see more was Ji Ui maybe doing 1 or 2 plastic surgeries....

Light hearted watch
I took a break from k drama. Watched this long after the break. Liked it. It was funny, emotional and has message.Lee jae wook's acting was really good. Some breath taking shots of ocean were really woth watching
Give it a try if you are looking to watch something fun, engaging and light hearted
