small-town medical drama!!!
UGHHH I just loooove small-town dramas and the community vibe!I love these rather slow paced medical dramas more than too high paced ones, this show was just perfect. It lowkey gave "once upon a small town" kdrama energy, so if you liked that one, you'll enjoy this one as well:)
P.S I liked the side characters soooo much!

Excitement fizzle out halfway through the drama
The initial few episodes were refreshing and nice. The island backdrop, medical drama, romance, and strong leads were all there, but it all came to a disappointing end. I got bored after a few episodes as the storyline got very monotonous and dull. There was absolutely no chemistry between the 2 leads, and the romance felt very forced. The female lead is constantly crying, and her smile looks forced. I actually found the second romance between the Eastern Korean Medicine doctor and the nurse much more refreshing. Towards the last few episodes, the story got really draggy, and I found myself fast-forwarding it. Overall, the drama lacks depth, lacks chemistry between the leads, and becomes so boring towards the end.Was this review helpful to you?
Isolated Island, Shaky Tropes, Struggles to Keep Its Footing
Set on a remote island where public health doctors fulfill their mandatory service, facing both medical emergencies without standard equipment and severe maritime distress, personal growth, community, and unexpected romance.I preferred this series for Lee Jae Wook who did a phenomenal work in Alchemy of Souls (both 1 and 2) and yet in this drama his character was not written up to his potential and I felt disappointed, the romance felt forced and the chemistry between the leads was a bit shaky. The 2nd couple romance was much more engaging and fun, their story and chemistry was felt genuine(at least for me). The quirky islanders provide much-needed comedic relief.
The story was good but it also has it flaws as some story developments becomes predictable in some episodes, classic clichés like sudden ex- loves returns, miscommunications, gossiping/nosy villagers , love triangle (this was completely unnecessary) which hampered the drama quite a bit.
Overall, It's an okay one-time watch if you're looking for a light medical drama.

When Potential Isn't Enough: A Romance That Forgot to Romance
Kind of frustrating, potential was there.Lets talk about the characters a little because I need to vent.
The only scene where Dr Jiu does something for the female lead in all of 7 episodes: 1) Helped her in the hospital in dealing with her
2) get jealous whenever Hari talked to the second ML.
3) Gave up his bed for Hari to stay in.
This man needs to speak up. Being weak physically doesn't make you any less of a man. Being scared of insects doesn't make you a loser.
But you being bad at communication and not making an effort to make it better however does make you look pathetic. Sure he is a good doctor. But there are other more important things that define your character.
My patience dried out in that one scene where the annoying contractor comes and pushes the female lead and he does nothing but stand there while the second male lead immediately jumps in to stop him.
The other thing however he does do is fix her leaking house in ep 8 which I guess is the turning point of the entire relationship. But I mean what about the previous 7 episodes I had to suffer through? Now suddenly he can't help but "see" her. I'm sorry this story is not building up properly.
I'd say the second male lead did a lot more than the main Male lead himself. He got hurt for her and also defended her on many occasions.
Anyways, this show started off quite strong, but it became annoying at some point. The romance looked forced and there isn't any chemistry. The actors did their best with the material, but...that's it.
The second couple did it better in terms of chemistry. They atleast had their sparks.
I might end up dropping it at some point. Lee Jae Wook is such a good actor, why would you do this 😭😭. Shin Ye-eun was very good, as you'd expect. She nailed the acting. Especially that scene where her grandmother passed away :(
Anyways. I'll be updating this in case I continue watching it and eventually finish it, who knows.

Strong start
Lee Jae wook... the last kdrama i watched staring him was Impossible Heir , and let me say this .. this show reminded me that he truly is a very good actor. Most of my laughs are his realistic reactions to things that happend daily with people and how we react toward those issues . Eg the bugs 🐛I am extremely happy that Shin Ye-eun is our FL , honestly I was actually so upset on how her character got robbed in a 100 memories. But DOTE looks like it's really her time to shine .
Over all the show still have a few episodes to go but its good
Sometimes it felt like this drama was dragging , Shin ye eun , even tho i like her , she didn't quite carry through, kissing scenes was mediocre..
I actually think Lee Jae Wook just hasn't had a break with mediocre or bad scripts . The first part of the drama was good but then it went downhill...

Dull and uninspiring
Things I liked1 The premise. I thought it was interesting and I like themes with people try to adapt in new environments. it just fell short.
Things I disliked
1 The romance. There wasn't any real romance if you ask me. Just the idea of a romance. The second couple had more romance than the main couple. add to that the lack of chemistry and there you have it. Romance isn't interesting or funny or cute or anything.
2 The ML. I don't know him, but he was dull to me here. Maybe the director asked him to be that way but if they did it's a shame because I didn't care after a few episodes.
3 The FL. I can't say anything better for the FL. I think she was an average actress and not an interesting character. Their relationship started with some potential and I thought it'd go somewhere but the FL didn't pull it off and the script didn't help.
4 The other characters weren't particularly endearing to me or funny or interesting. I think the main issue is that I'm not sure why I was watching this. Nothing was deep or funny, let alone a combination. So at the end of the day it was a dull series that I wasted my time watching.

This series is a must watch if you want to laugh
I only watched dubbed series until this one. It is incredibly easy to watch and unexpectedly hilarious. The chemistry between the leads is palpable, and the writing is so clever that it avoids the cringe-worthy tropes the genre often falls into. I’ve never laughed out loud at a rom-com like this—it's funny without being over the top, relying on sharp, witty situations rather than forced slapstick. I really like the cast, and the cinematography is gorgeous. The English sub is also top-tier, making it a perfectly seamless, binge-worthy experience. A must-watch!Was this review helpful to you?
HongMingi second lead again arggggggggggggh
The drama is boring and I hate that Hongmingi was always the second lead. TBH the chemistry between him and the FL looks like siblings lols. No chemistry at all sorry just my two cents. Maybe give Hongmingi a chance to be the main lead this time because he has soooo much potential. Another drama with boring plot, but i like the ML his good looking though. História de superação
A história mistura romance, medicina, comédia e emoção na medida certa. Mas uma coisa eu preciso dizer: o protagonista sofreu demais! 😭 Sério, cada episódio eu pensava: “Deixem esse homem ser feliz!”. Foi impossível não torcer por ele até o final.Acho que quem realmente me conquistou foi o casal secundário. Eles são divertidos, fofos e deixaram a história ainda mais gostosa de acompanhar.
E não posso esquecer do médico bonitão… toda vez que ele aparecia em cena era um evento 🫠
No fim, achei um dorama leve, emocionante e muito envolvente. Dá risada, passa raiva, se emociona e termina com aquela sensação boa de ter acompanhado uma história bonita.

É tão desinteressante
Existem histórias em que o roteiro é ruim porque é ilógico, mas no caso de Doctor on the edge, é porque a história é desinteressante.O começo tem um pouco de comédia e isso é legal, mas sinceramente foi ficando tão chato porque o romance é morno, mas dá pra gostar, mas de resto é uma completa negação!
A maioria dos personagens são insuportáveis, o casal secundário é chato, meu Deus é tudo tão tediante.
Eu achei a história tão perdida, tipo, era pra ser comédia? Era pra ser voltada para resolver os problemas dos pacientes? Era pra ser uma história sobre cura ou superação? Na verdade achei tudo jogado de qualquer jeito.
Particularmente o cenário das histórias é muito importante pra mim, posso amar um romance, mas as vezes o cenário faz eu não dar uma nota maior, e eu detestei o lugar que a história se passou, descobri que não gosta de dramas que se passam em ilhas.
No fim comecei pelo Lee Jaewook porque gosto muito dele, infelizmente é o segundo drama seguido dele que eu não gostei.

Interesting But It Could Have Been Better
I started watching this drama in July and only managed to finish it now. I had put it on hold because, despite having high expectations, it didn’t really capture my attention at the beginning.There were several things I didn’t enjoy, from aspects of the female lead’s character to the slow pacing and even the second couple. Some plot points also felt unnecessary and could have been left out altogether.
Honestly, it also became quite obvious to me that both main characters need to see a psychologist and get some help. There is a serious lack of communication between them, and I was expecting much more chemistry as well.
The story itself was interesting, and all the actors did a great job portraying their characters. However, overall, I think this drama could have been much better.

Medicina, comunidad, pérdida y amor
Epa, por dónde empiezo. Una serie que me hizo llorar, reír y enamorarme a partes iguales.Mostró cómo todos podemos tener formas distintas de manejar la pérdida, situaciones traumáticas, y el dolor que ello conlleva; pero también lo valioso de una red de apoyo, y en especial de dejarse ayudar.
Resalta para mí la integridad como persona y como profesional que tuvieron los personajes, algo a lo que todos deberíamos de aspirar.
Me encantó como cada personaje tuvo su protagonismo, resultando en una historia que se sintió como una curita al corazón.
