Masterfully charming and produced despite new format

Instant favorite! I was smiling before I knew it. Yubin is as loveable as always, and her love interest is such a sweet charmer.

This little vertically-filmed microdrama packs all of Soo Not Sue's long-mastered charm in a new format, proving why she's the Korean GL queen. I also loved how she incorporated the knowledge of the clothing design industry that she personally has from in real life.

I will say however, that this drama may not vibe with everyone as it is definitely more on the fluff side than her other works. I didn't really expect it to be fluffy and light to this degree going in, as most of her works do tend to illustrate character flaws in the mains with a stronger undercurrent of pending tension building up throughout the work. But, given this particular format and length, I think the fluffiness was a natural byproduct, as I fear any more tension would've felt too dramatic and artificial. Besides, I personally think the GL scene could use more fluff anyways.

Après Out of Breath et She Makes My Heart Flutter, je suis convaincu que ce petit studio pourrait créer une véritable série GL au format long, qui serait un vrai succès. J’espère qu’un projet de plus grande ampleur verra bientôt le jour.

An Office Thing est un GL qui mise sur une ambiance quotidienne et professionnelle, mêlant romance et vie de bureau avec une sincérité rafraîchissante. L’histoire suit deux collègues dont les interactions évoluent lentement vers quelque chose de plus profond, avec une progression qui n’est ni brusque ni artificielle, mais au contraire très naturelle.

La réalisation est propre et moderne : les plans sont bien pensés, l’esthétique visuelle est agréable, et le cadre professionnel donne une dynamique différente de beaucoup de GL scolaires ou slice‑of‑life. On ressent un vrai travail sur l’atmosphère, ce qui contribue à ancrer la romance dans un environnement réaliste et cohérent.

Le scénario ne cherche pas à révolutionner le genre, mais il est efficace et bien structuré, laissant suffisamment de place aux émotions pour s’exprimer sans être trop dramatique. La progression des sentiments est subtile et réaliste, ce qui renforce l’authenticité du lien entre les protagonistes.

On sent que les problématiques queer ont été soigneusement réfléchies et représentées par des personnes concernées. Les réalités exposées collent bien au contexte coréen et reflètent un vécu sincère. Dommage que la série ne comporte pas plus d’épisodes.
