Very interesting time loop/travel romcom drama

This has become one of my most fav short romcom C dramas ever! Story is really interesting and funny and at the same time somehow by the end you can genuinely feel the love between the characters, like you can feel their yearning for each other. I checked it out by chance because I mistook the FL to be another actress by looking at the stills but I was totally surprised by both the FL and the MLs acting! Really good actors!

It has both time loop and time travel elements which are both one of my fav scifi tropes, so it's an extra fun love story.

FIRST IMPRESSION: 7, FINAL: 8.5/10 ! :)

I'm more into Thriller / Mystery genre. I avoid Pure Romance genre but can tolerate Rom-coms to some extent.

Started watching this for the Time loop /Sci-Fi element in the plot, which is one of my interests.
And the Summary is interesting -- Lovers stuck on the day of Break up n fell into a Time Loop.

For a person of my watching preferences, this miniseries is Apt -- Not the usual toxic or twisted romance or there is no in-depth emotional trauma or love triangles or heavy break ups.

***
The miniseries is Good in all Categories -- Short n Simple -- 14 eps with 10 mins each run time, which can be binge watched easily.
A Sci-Fi Rom-Com Plot with a lot of Twists n Time Loops, even parallel universe, Huh !?

The Mystery of whether they will reconcile or will be separated, remained till the last moment, haha.

Relationship for four years -- Break up day Time Loop with different "Tasks" (Sort of Testing their relationship ) -- 4 years of Separation / New Timeline -- Second Time Loop -- Parallel Universe -- The Ending (U watch whether it's a Happy or Sad ;) ) -- Everything is Written n Executed Well.

Direction, Story Narration and Editing are Cool.
OST is Good.

**** EPISODES:
In terms of Rating,
Ep 1 is Ok, didn't capture my interest much, it is 7/10.

But from ep 2, it got Interesting (7.5 to 8)

And the Last eps (8.5) are even More Interesting n Captivating with equal amount of Love story n multiple Time loop twists and Parallel Universe concepts.

In initial eps, the "Tasks" are Funny n Exciting like passing a Game Level.

Ep 7's Task is Funny.
If one of them dies, the other has to kiss their ex to save the current partner.
He struggled n got slapped by all his ex gfs 🤭 but
Her strategy is smart -- since they broke up on the day, the endless loop has started, he is her ex now, so kissed him to save him! 👌🏻

Ep 14 - I liked the scene where their shadows in the parallel universe hold their hands.

**** ACTORS & CHARACTERS:
It's a short drama with very few characters.

ML is handsome n FL is pretty n sweet together.
Their height difference is very cute :)

I liked the ML Character More.
He is goofy at times but loves her more n so it is more painful for him during the break up.

The ML actor acted really well in emotional scenes -- U can feel his confusion, jealousy n pain when he sees his gal with another guy or when he regrets the break up decision.

**** RATING:
My Rating is 8.5 /10

Overall, it's FUN TO WATCH ! :)

P.S.:
The closing scene of the miniseries -- When the projector is on again, OMG, my heart skipped a beat !! -- How many more Time Loops and What more Tasks n Hurdles do they need to undergo again !? Haha

UGH!!!! NO NO NO!!! WHY...????!

Seeing someone posted this on the feeds, I got intrigued… and decided to watch it.

The story follows Shen Meng (SM) and Chen Jia Wen (JW), who break up on 520 (May 20th), known as Chinese Valentine’s Day. However, something unexpected happens. The next morning, when they wake up, only to realize it’s the same day again.

Confused, they reach out to one of their friends, Zhao Ming Xi, who explains that they are trapped in a time loop and if they want to break free, they’ll need to figure out why—and how.

At first, they didn't believe it. They try ignoring it. Fighting it. But no matter what they do, the day resets. Then, they notice something unusual—the projector in their room. Which usually plays one of the promises they made during their relationship, suddenly changes after they “complete” one of those promises.

With that discovery, they play by the rules and do their best to fulfill each promise. One by one, the projector made them revisit the promises they made throughout their relationship

1st. They promise to keep each other alive at the end of the world.
2nd. They promise to buy each other something once they can afford it.
3rd. JW once said he wanted to put SM in his pocket so he could take her everywhere—so they held hands for 24 hours straight.
4th. They used to underestimate each other’s jobs—so this time, they swap identities and step into each other’s roles, truly experiencing what the other goes through.
5th. When one of them suddenly develops a terminal illness, they vow to do everything to save each other—even if it means kissing an ex to help the other.
6th. SM once said she’d only feel heart-fluttering for JW—not any other man. Can that still be true?
7th. The alternative universe.

The seventh time is entirely different. SM and JW wake up before they ever start dating. They do cross paths again—but this time, they decided to not become a couple. Instead, armed with the knowledge of the future, they reshaped their own future.

But is this truly the end?
Will they escape the loop for good, or could it begin all over again?

In the end, this drama is not just about completing tasks to break a time loop like many similar stories. The loop becomes a lesson — teaching SM and JW about love, about each other, and about the importance of the promises that they once gave each other.

That's pretty much the story without giving anymore spoilers. Overall I quite like this short drama. Included in one of my top titles for short drama, if not only for one major flaw…

It's unfinished story… UGH!!! No, it's not open ending. It's unfinished story!!! And i really hate how they finished this short drama…

A Binge-Worthy Short Drama

Recently, I’ve found myself gravitating more toward short dramas, and this wonderful, binge-worthy series proves that short dramas, when executed well, are just as captivating—if not even better—than full-length dramas. This particular drama masterfully blends sci-fi time travel elements with heartfelt romance, raising the question of whether love can truly overcome obstacles and endure the test of time.

The story follows a couple, Chen Jiawen and Shen Meng, who decide to break up after four years together. However, they find themselves trapped in a time loop, forced to relive the day of their breakup over and over again. This fantastical scenario compels them to re-examine their four-year relationship from new perspectives, as it challenges the strength of their love. To escape the endless cycle and break free from the time loop, Chen Jiawen and Shen Meng must complete a series of bizarre, mandatory "missions." These tasks, assigned by a mysterious “projector” that replays their past vows and sweet words, test the sincerity of their feelings and push them to confront unresolved issues. Each mission provides opportunities for the couple to learn, grow, and truly appreciate their love before the day resets at midnight. Throughout their journey, viewers are treated to sweet and comical moments that balance the drama’s emotional depth.
The story concludes with an open ending that strongly suggests the possibility of a well-deserved second season.

For me, one of the highlights of short dramas is the chance to discover new actors. The lead roles are portrayed by Hankiz Omar (female lead) and Xiao Kai Zhong (male lead), who share excellent on-screen chemistry. Both actors deliver strong performances, but Xiao Kai Zhong stands out for handling the more emotionally intense scenes with impressive skill.

I highly recommend this gem of a drama to anyone looking for a fun and quirky series that doesn’t shy away from exploring deep emotions of a second chance love. It is a well-produced, well-directed, and well-acted drama incorporating time travel, romance, and parallel universe which makes for an enjoyable viewing experience that will undoubtedly leave you smiling.
