Smoldering Kissess by the Hot General!
I had seen another drama with the mainleads i really loved, so this one felt like a given once i realized the same leads were starring in it. The actor portraying Male Lead is not the typical goodlooking chinese actor, but he has that swagger and really good face expressions and is very good at creating chemistry with his co-star. He portrays sensuality and longing very well. In this drama he is so shameless and flirts so well with his heroine, stealing extra smoldering kissess throughout this story. She just didnt have a chance to run away 🤣Well, he was brutal, not the type of relationships which i'd like for myself... but obviously they wanted to show that by destiny they had chemistry from the start just she denied it before knowing more about him. And gradually she fell for him seeing his good and strong sides not only brutal ones as in the beginning.
Not my type of Love, but there're different types of Love.
Good acting, beautuful leads, it was quite entertaining. 🤭👌🩵🪽
It's just a low budget mini with quite simple plot, but it gives understanding how deep and devoted (close to insanity ) can be Love of a husband to wife in China and how deep and beautiful is respect and love for elders.
Forcing is not good, but to fight for Love is good.
In some way I'd like the man I love to be obssessed with me to such point that he wont see himself with any woman but me, and wont imagine me to be with anyone but him... and he should be strong enough and dare to fight for it. She saves him and protects him, and he saves her and protects her. And Such devotion deserves to be eternal as such Love. 🩵🪽

Nice CP with crap plot
I was eager to watch Zhao Zhendong-Jinzi drama since i like their Fake Socialite drama. I have 50:50 opinion about this drama. The styling for republican drama is average for me. The Chemistry is good as their first drama. The ML character is pissing me of he didn't have any progress in this drama. All he do is just force kiss, without any communication. No wonder the FL is not happy when he near her. FL didn't show she was fall with ML (understand, because she still has a little brain). Too bad FL fiancee back story is not shown too much. I doubt they will have season 2 since there is so many unresolved plot. The Villain acting is too staged and felt forced especially FL and ML stepmothers.Wont recommend this drama, even if you are Jinzi-Zhao Zhendong CP fans.

Not Perfect, Not Healthy, But Still a Drama I Liked !
**There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with appreciating a drama you liked.**And yes, I liked this one. Flaws and all.
So here’s the deal. This drama revolves around a **young general who is deeply, intensely obsessed** with a countryside girl who is young, underestimated, and constantly looked down upon. Yet she shines in her own quiet way. She is skilled in **both dance and medicine**, and her elegance feels almost unreal. Some people may call it exaggerated that she cures patients whom even Western medicine couldn’t save, but honestly… **that’s why it’s called a drama**. We don’t come here for realism textbooks, we come here for fantasy, emotions, and escape.
That said, let’s not pretend this drama is flawless.
There was definitely **room for improvement**. The kissing scenes were honestly *too frequent*. Instead of making the romance feel deeper, they slowly started losing their value and became irritating rather than impactful. Sometimes less really *is* more, and this drama clearly didn’t get that memo.
Another thing that genuinely bothered me was the **moral inconsistency** of the male lead. The young general kept trying to convince his brother’s fiancée to become his woman, which the drama clearly framed as “acceptable.” But the moment she asked him if he would actually marry her, he rejected her outright. That raised a huge red flag. Like… what exactly was he expecting? To use her without commitment? That part left a really bad taste in my mouth.
And let’s be brutally honest here:
Throughout the drama, many of their intimate moments felt **deeply uncomfortable**. She was crying during kisses. She was distressed. She was not emotionally willing. No matter how romantic the background music tried to be, **it did not feel consensual**. Calling it anything other than **sexual harassment** would be sugarcoating the issue. This is something that absolutely deserves criticism.
**However…**
Despite all these flaws, I still enjoyed the drama. Why? Because at its core, it is a **fantasy drama**, and I chose to watch it as one. I focused on the atmosphere, the aesthetics, the exaggerated emotions, and the escape it provided. It entertained me, and at the end of the day, **that matters the most to me**.
You can acknowledge flaws and still like something.
You can criticize and still enjoy.
And you can appreciate a drama without asking for permission.
And I stand by that.

I love this series.
I love this series i have watched it over and over again. I watched the dubbed version and watched it in its original language and read the subtitles. This series was great. Different then your regular romance novels which makes it even better. This straight forward military guy is accustomed to having people obey his orders and have his way all the time. He is used to women fawning over him but when he meets this women something about her makes him melt breaks him in so many different ways. I love k dramas because their is always a crazy twist and plot not like these typical boring american romance movies 🙄The actors and actresses were a perfect fit for this series. They all played their parts well. Im hoping their is a part 2, 3, and 4 lol. I dont like cliffhangers so i really hope there is a part 2.

Great Pairing
I absolutely love the male lead. As someone else said, he is not classically handsome but there is something about him. His charisma oozes on the screen. He makes you want to melt in his embrace and feel safe at the same time as feeling like you are the only woman on the planet. I have seen several verticals with him in them and will always watch anything he is in. This particular story was great and their chemistry was on point. I hated the stepmother and stepsister but they made great foils. I hope they have a follow up to this story as the ending leaves you hanging but it is worth watching again and again.Was this review helpful to you?

Edit: Updated my rating reflecting that the ML is quite the forceful type. It's still a guilty pleasure of mine. Just be warned it's not for you.This vertical drama is a guilty pleasure watch of mine because the ML is so down bad for the FL is just, gods, yes. This is what falling for someone hard is (the ML's gazes alone just hello) and he likes how much of a spitfire she is. The kisses are so hot, it's what keeps me coming back again and again to it since damn, the ML nailed that longing and possession for the FL.
The ending is so abrupt but it didn't stop me from rewatching it 7 times [and counting].
