Before the empress’s coronation, Liu Che grants Zifu permission to return home to perform ancestral rites, and sends Duan Hong as her guard. An old comb gifted by Duan Hong to Zifu reignites his feelings for her. Zifu breaks the comb in an attempt to get Duan Hong to move on instead of ruining his life.
