Switched at birth, Qiao Xing Ye returns to her biological family but is never treated like she belongs. She is schemed against by her adopted sister and almost loses her life. No one in her family seems to trust or love her. Her family and fiancée's mistreatment only increase when her adopted sister, Liang Yu Tong, is diagnosed with cancer. Whilst planning for her wedding, Xing Ye is abandoned as her fiancé is really in love with her adopted sister. After three whole years of disappointment, Xing Ye grows tired of the cold indifference, her scumbag fiancé and the life she had come home to. Previously adopted by a wealthy family, Qiao Xing Ye runs to her adopted brother after leaving the Liang family. Ruthless and somewhat immoral, Qiao Rong Chuan's only weakness is his adopted sister. He often protects Xing Ye from her relatives and ex-fiancé, who refuse to leave her alone due to her connection to a doctor who could cure Liang Yu Tong. Qiao Rong Chuan and Qiao Xing Ye grow closer and closer as they continue to spend more time together. (Source: kisskh) ~~ Adapted from the web novel "Yao Ta Ren Cuo? Poor Adaptation and Direction Ruined the Experience
There’s no doubt about the actors’ capabilities , I’ve seen their performances before, and both are truly talented artists. Their acting is not under question here. In fact, their chemistry was good. However, something still felt off. What stood out to me was the visual mismatch in their characters' age gap. Despite the storyline suggesting a notable difference in age, their appearances seemed to belong to the same generation. This affected the believability of their dynamic. If an older-looking male lead had been cast, it might have aligned better with the story's context.
Beyond casting, the entire project felt rushed. It seemed as though the entire team was in a hurry to wrap things up rather than allowing the story to unfold naturally. The scenes lacked the necessary pauses and emotional depth , there was no sense of stillness or buildup where there should have been. Scene transitions were jarring and not smooth, making the overall flow disjointed.
The direction and screenplay were the weakest points. Changes were made to the original content, but unfortunately, these changes did not fit well within the narrative. If you're going to adapt something and make changes, those changes must add impact , otherwise, it's better not to alter the original.
I can't ignore these issues, so I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.
Wang Yilei solely good acting cannot save this drama.
I remember when i watched other version the plot was so-so but the acting was so adequate to make me engaging on that drama. This drama ruined my view experience. Even my friends saying this version was the best, i completely never agree with her. The production of this drama feel sloppy.I wont say Wang Yilei acting cannot acting (but Yang Shuyu stills has no improvement and it was making this experience more worse) but the ML looks misfit as someone older, FL didn't look too mentally strong and somehow they are miscast on the adaptation. It feels he works alone in full of group assignment. but the result still got F-.
Dropped.
