@Xylune The crazy fandom is in part caused by the repressive government. Fans, especially female fans, who are unhappy with their situation turn all their frustration to engage with idol culture, and if lots of things are boiling under the surface it can sometimes get very excessive. But it's also because of a certain type of fandom culture. Sadly, the government will then use this excessive and destructive fandom behaviour to motivate even more repression. It's a vicious circle.
I always assumed that avoiding political discussions may result in some sort of indulgence in other things, such as the entertainment industry, as the attention is being shifted to it. On the other hand, we can see somewhat similar issues in South Korea, where social media wars are rather common as well. So I doubt it can be fully blamed on restrictive politics. However, I haven't really researched these things before, so I can't comment a lot on it. Still, it's a very interesting topic. In my teens and early twenties I was part of a music fandom for a Finnish band, and even there people developed some strange behaviors such as parasocial relationships. If I look at the KPop fandom nowadays, it probably can't even be compared - not to forget about the development of social media over the last decade. It's fascinating - and likely scary. Anyway, I can imagine that living in a country where social media are mainly focussing on entertainment, it could fan the whole thing even more compared to other countries.

As a BL fan, i agree with this.
They want explicit depiction. Probably people like me are crazy in their eyes, when watching Untamed or Word of honor and seeing A LOT OF ROMANTIC FEELINGS even without kisses or whatever.
Love should not be measured according to those things, but according to feelings.
OF COURS gov avoid distrust and destruction of social harmony is their behaviour is too exaggerate. And yes, it's a vicious circle that engulfs even actors.

Also, here is the explicit ban on bromance or dangai from the Beijing Municipal Radio Television and Film Bureau (sorry it's also in chinese, but I figure the primary source is best proof and it's not my fault if the homophobe claiming it isn't banned doesn't speak chinese) https://web.archive.org/web/20220524181759/https://gdj.beijing.gov.cn/hdjl/zxft1/202201/t20220107_2584937.html
Exactly 💯 of recent the Communist Party of China even started kidnapping bl authors claiming they're writing degenerate books and preventing the growth in population of straight couples!

fake news. In China, p*rn is illegal, only 2 authors were on house arrest because of explicit description. China is still a Confucian nation, deeply rooted in it. You can't expect woke from the west. In real life there is no problem. in business there is another thing. China is not for extrovert people showing off like onlyfans clients. CPC is great

A Confucian nation led for the past 70 years by a communist Party! What do you think that the Cultural Revolution did to Confucianism?!

CPC has always said that the Cultural Revolution was an error, but an error from which China becomes greater than before. Errors are made to learn from them.
I love China because of it, i watch Cdramas only but i love everything about China
Conferences and documents that have banned homosexuality either outright or indirectly in mainland China:
- Febrary 27, 2016 - SARFT specifies homosexuality as crossing ethical lines shortly after taking down the drama Addicted.
- June 30, 2017 - during CNSA conference, General Rules for Netcasting Programme Content Audit specify homosexuality as a banned topic.
- September 16, 2021 - Issued by SARFT - danmei adaptations ban.
Censorship is easing in some ways, but this is not one of them, especially not for domestic audiences.

A Confucian country won't ever have nc content in BL danmei adaptation, don't ever think about it. They can go to some kisses, some scenes making it clear they go on the next stage, but they won't ever specify it. And Chinese BLs are successful because they mind more about the feelings. You can't measure love on kisses, p*rn and so on, more if p*rn is illegal so banned.
And i don't understand p*rn obsessed fan is degrading Chinese BLs, because of it, they can go to youp*rn or onlyfans to look for those contents. Chinese drama fans wholeheartedly support this, because China will never be a place for BLs adaptation, more novels though.
I wish even one of these entitled members of the western Anti Censorship Liberation Army would explain how more on-screen sex improves the writing quality of a tv production -which is the backbone of any successful drama.
It’s just what they’re used to in the west; because there’s no way in hell you’re getting good writing or good politics from there - just superficial aesthetics and gratuitous sex scenes every five minutes to fob people off. This tends to both confuse and satisfy the western viewing public who then demand this mediocrity everywhere else.
Even in dramas where the romance is straight China does not do allow television content made with the aim of the public masturbating to it, which is done in the capitalist west. China is a socialist country and socialism does not agree with the commodification of human sexuality - whether straight or gay.
If other people running their own country, by the principles they fought and died for, bothers you so much simply go and watch your own superior, western, queer dramas and stop trying to be a coloniser about another country’s cultural products which you have Zero right to.
If your own countries have no censorship and say they are democracies, then they should be able to make at least 1000 queer productions that suit you since China, that you claim is so intolerably restrictive, already has hundreds of explicit, non-explicit and queer-coded productions since Danmei adaptations became a thing. Simple.
Ccolonisers simply cannot stomach the idea of a sovereign country creating value for itself and it’s people and not for colonisers’ benefit.

It's not exactly explicit now is it? Give me what Revenged Love has but produced in Mainland China.
We request, politely, that China stop being homophobic. Stop with the victim mentality.
Was Revenged Love produced in Mainland China? NO. Would we wish that writers and producers of LGBT content in Mainland China be given free reign to produce BL and LGBTQ series and movies? YES.
The ban has been going on for too long. I'm glad we got the loophole that made Revenged Love possible.
But that doesn't mean the problem doesn't still exist. There shouldn't be any censorship.

What’s stopping you from making the adaptations you want in your own country according to your own values or enjoying the uncensored ones freely made there - is the question.
China does what it’s doing in the interest of all its people and that’s why they’re thriving while other societies are collapsing under toxic western values. Why can’t your country do that for you?
Revenged Love was indeed produced in China , all by talented Chinese people who are more concerned with being famous and successful in China than outside -that’s why RL was successful. Compare that to the rubbish sex-flops that are made outside the mainland largely full of sex but not full of quality.
And finally again, you’re not Chinese and you don’t have any right whatsoever to request, politely or not, that China does anything that suits your interests. None at all.
Don’t be a coloniser!
Why can’t your country do that for you?BLLoversLink:
My country is a homophobic piece of shit, that's why.
I don't understand. I come here for BL and GL, not to read with my own eyeballs the homophobic shit you're spewing.
What do you have against sex? At this point, this is your personal issue with the subject matter.
And who said all of the other countries only produce series that are, as you say, "full of sex"??
Have you even watched any of the other countries' BLs or do you only watch censored adaptations of same-sex original works like The Untamed and then get scandalized if you see a half naked man anywhere?
How old are you even? Are you even part of the LGBT community to say these things?
If you're a straight woman/man, just piss off with your homophobia.
(I am aware this thread was made by you. You should have kept your mouth shut.)

Just straight to the profanities and vulgar slurs. Why am I not surprised this is your first resort.
Colonisers always use violence to take from others what they have no right to.
I didn’t send for you; you put intellectual spokes in your own mental wheels and now your argument can’t go anywhere you’re on the floor crying and blaming others. How old are you?
