Tina:
Are you sure you know what this word means?
Wanting everyone to stop treating the LGBT community as second class citizens is NOT colonizing behavior wtf.
That's like saying the West invented being gay (no, we didn't, that's mother nature for you).
Then work on your own country doing this first. That’s your responsibility.
And let Chinese people work with their own government to keep improving the quality of life for all its people at a pace which the CPC has achieved and that hasn’t been done before in human history. Unless you think Chinese people are somehow not capable.
The West did not invent being gay, but they want to tell the world, especial countries they look down on, that their way is the best way to do it despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary in their collapsing societies - Coloniser behaviour.
I wish even one of these entitled members of the western Anti Censorship Liberation Army would explain how more on-screen sex improves the writing quality of a tv production -which is the backbone of any successful drama.BLLoversLink:
THIS. I agree. China will always protect its citizens from s*x and ruining scenes, because it's not like Asia should be

The West is the one oppressing and colonising the world starting with Am**ican continent and they still blabber about it lol. China will always be strong against woke culture, more capable than the west

Some are too intoxicated with the ridiculous myth of western supremacy.
It’s embarrassing how fragile these people are to think that a totally separate country must be beaten into submission so that it doesn’t dare to produce its own cultural products, on its own terms without imagining the west to be the gold standard and without regard to validating the irrelevant feelings of random westerners.
The Sinophobia is really too much. Everyone else just want to live in peace - free from this blight ☮️
Enjoy the read — this is the current regulation. The 2017 version is outdated and has been out of use for quite some time:
https://www.nrta.gov.cn/art/2018/11/4/art_2418_39571.html
First, a point on the source: This is the official website of the NRTA (National Radio and Television Administration), which is the actual authority that issues censorship rules. If you review the content, you’ll find no mention of any Chinese term specifically targeting or restricting the LGBTQ+ community. The regulations focus on broader content principles rather than singling out any specific group.
Second, a point on censorship and narrative: Anyone who thinks media or government doesn't engage in shaping narratives is living under a rock. All countries do it; it's how societies cultivate shared ideas and values. What we see and watch are always curated narratives. In China's case, these rules apply to any kind of drama and media, not exclusively to LGBTQ+ content, and include a strict ban on pornography.
Third, a point on relationships and content: Personally, I don't mind the absence of explicit sexual content in dramas. A real relationship is about connection, trust, companionship, and shared life—it's about more than just sex. While sexuality can be a part of bonding for some, it is not the sole foundation. Reducing relationships to just that erases the reality of asexual people and misunderstands human connection. Media focusing on emotional depth rather than physical depiction is not a deficiency.
Fourth, a point on civic feedback: Claims that people in China cannot express themselves are simply false. There are formal, government-established channels for civic participation. The national 12345 government service hotline and its online platforms allow citizens to submit complaints, report issues, and hand in suggestions directly. The system exists for public feedback.
Finally, a point on cultural respect: Each country operates by its own social framework. It is a colonial mindset to insist on enforcing one's own values onto other sovereign nations. Values differ, and we must respect that other countries have the right to govern their cultural and media space according to their own norms.

And @Chen Lu
I’m proud to be among those of the global majority who respect indigenous people’s rights to autonomy and sovereignty over their own cultures and reject western values.
The west’s narrative authority has been the ultimate stealth power; the privilege to name reality has been kept in place by untold orgies of physical violence, cognitive warfare and economic coercion.
Last week the most propagandised people on the planet realised that even the TikTok they had access to was more free and uncensored when Chinese owned it than now that it’s been bought by the profiteering scoundrels at home who’ve already censored the app to hell and back, for all nefarious reasons. The irony.
Today they’re learning another lesson about the dark nature of imperial entitlement that shapes western society, an appreciation the 2/3 majority of the planet never has the luxury to forget.
We can only hope these now blatant truths can be the beginning of the end of approaching any discussion on China, a country they know almost nothing about, with the alternating goals of extraction and hostility.
“The man who accepts Western values absolutely, finds his creative faculties becoming so warped and stunted that he is almost completely dependent on external satisfactions; and the moment he becomes frustrated in his search for these, he begins to develop neurotic symptoms, to feel that life is not worth living“ - Paul Robeson.

Mind boggling to me that a bunch of white girls form Europe are on here talking as if they are chinese or something. Talking about colonization when THEY are the colonizers. And further more, it shows that you're european because of your disgusting orientalism towards china. I've taken a look on both of your pages and you're fucking weird about asian people. And no it is colonization to want the boot to come off the neck lgbt people in china, jfc. It disgusts me that people sitting in countries with lgbt rights are so "no no no it's perfectly fine for those asians over there to suffer and kill themselves from homophobia they suffer. How dare you try to stand up for them?" also @chen lu you aren't slick. And I suspect you don't read chinese because the 2018 standards and guidelines you linked contain several sections which the ban on lgbt representation falls under. Also, funny to note that once you were shown to be irrequivocably wrong about the facts of the matter you moved onto this stupid stuff about lgbt rights being colonization.
I have asked the mods to remove this thread for how political it has gotten. But let me just say how disgusting it is to deny queer people all over the world the rights that they desperately want because you have erroneously said that they are "western values" and western values are poisonous or some shit. You are disgusting homophobes, get lost. It's not western values when there are lgbt people in every country on earth who want the rights that will allow them to live happy and fulfilled lives. That's every country on earth. That's global. That's human.
And your characature of chinese people as these super traditional anti-western saints who are pure and don't want to see dirty dirty sex on their television is an absurd orientalism. There are tens of millions of gay people in china who fight for their rights. It is colonization for them to do that or for other lgbt people from afar to support them in spirit. I bet the very fact that chinese porn exists would send you into a tizzy. Sorry they are just as human, horny, defiant, gay, modern, influenced by the western world, as you are.

I agree only about this point, because yes, unfortunately Europe was the bad guy. I criticise Europe since i don't like it. And it is not orientalism, it is showing values. Europe never repaired China for what they did to Old Summer Palace, nor repaired for what they did bringing opium.
But I am at least aware that Chinese people themselves chose CPC ( yes, i called it correctly because it is Communist Party of China, not Chinese Communist Party).
They chose to stick to their own strength rather than relying on others, and this is what made China great now and before.
Western countries have a lot to learn from China. About lgbt, Woke is something western, not Confucianistic nor Chinese. And don't tell me about Emperor Ai or such because in the official records there is NO explicit mention of male concubines, but ONLY a deep bond. So there is not official mention of being homosexuals.
I love China as it is now, a Socialist Democracy with Chinese Characteristic, and sorry if I defend it because I don't want anyone to change it.
Chinese people is resilient and is strong on its own, and for me it's how a nation should work.
"it's not orientalism" but then the rest of what you write is orientalist. I wonder can you even define that word? Can you even name key orientalist tropes? Do you even know who Edward Said is? Then how can you say its not orientalist when you know nothing about what that means. You are a fucking weirdo white person from Europe who has a fetishistic obsession with asian people (judging from your profile).

I am against colonialism, and colonialism should have never existed. Every colonialist should pay with money and blood the same amount of blood they shed. And sorry, Colonialism was even the one in 1492 killing Aztechs and other civilisation and even Native on the American Continent.
Colonalism was a desease affecting the West, not only about Asia, and nowadays it is spreading unfortunately.
And yes, i fetish so hard I support EVERYTHING China does because I have those values.
I found woke adnd very colonialist imposing lgbt on nations which officially refuse to support it openly and promoting it. I love BLs but sorry, i am NOT a delulu. BL genre was born in Japan and for heterosexual women. So what's the fuss about? China does not want to promote it?
I suppose you know how Confucian values work, right?
Go taking Chinese lesson if you don't know how China works.
It's funny, because most places in the world (including China) were a lot more diverse and accepting when it comes to sexuality and even gender expression—until the western colonisers arrived and spread their western religion-based homophobia. Now most countries in the world that ban homosexuality are doing so based on colonial era laws. Some countries have repealed those laws as part of decolonising themselves. But others persist in sticking to colonial values that were forced upon them by Europeans.
Homophobia is in fact the real colonism. Not diversity.
