Yup, ardent is right
This is a vertical drama so don’t set your expectations too high on flowing plot, spectacular twists and turns, meaningfuldialogues, etc. What you can get though is a fairly simple and digestible meaningful story. On top of that, this pairing of leads are spot on. Their chemistry sizzles and there’s lots of skinship. They look very comfortable with each other which is a plus. If that is something you’re looking for, it’s here.

Surprisingly sweet drama without angst
I watch this because of Peng Yao. Surprisingly the chemistry between Peng Yao and Cao Tian Kai are good to see even better than few of Cao Tian Kai previous FL.This is the fastest record of Cao Tian Kai showing his abs less than 3 minutes in beginning of the drama and he just using blazer to flaunt his body (I am not complaining).
I forgot the other version (perhaps Yuyin-Yao Guanyu one but i don't really fond of that drama). The plot is rich, the pacing is tight and smooth, the logic and details are reasonable, and it's pure sweetness throughout.
ML is a cunning wolf, endlessly doting and flirting, while the FL is a cunning little rabbit, weak but intelligent, and always tries to find ways to save herself instead of waiting for the ML. There are almost no misunderstandings between them throughout the series; they're both talkative, and later, when they're manipulated by the villain, things might drag but not too long unlike other dramas.
The only drawback might be that the ML's uncontrollable emotions are quite obvious, while the FL's emotional moments lack subtlety. However, its still worth to watch.

ITS *PEPÉ LE PEW & PENELOPE*
The original Mandarin title (also IMDb) “Burning Love” is an inaccurate adjective for the story. iQIYI/MDL uses a better descriptor (“Ardent Love”) or more accurately, *HIS (ML’s) Ardent Love*.Production seems fine and the acting is good but after reading the comments, I must be the only one that didn’t care for this drama.😉, Sorry, guys!
Imho, the leads don’t go well together and there’s no synchronicity or chemistry until the very last 20 minutes. The ML inexplicably likes the FL and is super attracted to her, but the FL is too emotionally-young and frigid, (as well as annoyingly cantankerous toward him for no good reason). For MOST of the drama, she’s just NOT into him and is visibly repulsed by him, pushing him away over and over. *Almost* every kiss is forced (or drugged), so their relationship has no consensual companionship, which made it tedious and uncomfortable. If I didn’t already know the ending would suddenly become “happily ever after” in the last 20 minutes (after the ML convinces the FL to “act” with him through skinship - the ONLY hot scene), I’d be rooting for the ML to STOP pressuring/pursuing the FL and to move on from her. The costume department has the FL wearing the SAME green cardigan or pink sweater with white tulle skirts and white sneakers almost every day. The only parts of this drama that I liked were Actor Cao Tiankai’s interactions /scenes with other side characters, and his exploited (but AMAZING) abs. 💙
