My favorite series in a long, long time!

Just finished episode 8 and dang I love this show so much.

First, be sure not to miss the epilogues. Most episodes have one and they always add to the experience.

Now on to the fanboying!

In a way this show feels tailor-made to trigger viewers who are tired of kdrama tropes, but for me the tropes are a key part of the charm. Or, more accurately, it's the way they're tweaked or even subverted. There are so many situations I've seen before, and yet they never play out the way I expect.

The show is obviously centered on a love triangle, which will also be a turn-off to some, but this is a stellar example of how to do one properly: by comparing and contrasting both the suitors themselves as well as the romantic interest's reaction to them.

What I especially like here is that Nam Da-reum's intellectual and visceral responses are also contrasted. Basically, there's one person she thinks she likes but always acts awkwardly and uncomfortably around versus another that she has all kinds of misconceptions about and assumes dislikes her, yet she always acts like herself in his presence.

I really, really like stories centered around characters catching up to their own feelings, so this series is perfect for me.

Structurally, I also love that they revisit the same story beats from different perspectives. For example, there are scenes with each male lead being mobbed by fangirls that clearly show how Nam Da-reum sees herself in those relationships.

Also, her grabbing the ML's arm and running away with him gets mirrored later when he grabs her arm and escorts her out of an even more uncomfortable situation. It's exceptionally well done.

One other thing I love is that whenever something unpleasant happens, it gets resolved quickly. The focus is on entertainment, so even though there's some scheming and backstabbing and the stakes are serious, there's only enough suffering to ensure that you feel giddy when things get resolved. It's impressive.

As I wrote in my original draft, the cast is phenomenal, including the supporting actors. I really can't imagine anyone else in these roles.

Kang Hoon where have you been all this while!!!

I really really hope through this drama, Kang Hoon is finally able to get more lead roles T.T His role in this drama was so relatable. He was a CEO but not like the kind who doenst do any work. His character setup was interesting and he had the charisma to lead the company. At the same time when he returns home he is such a goofball getting shocked by his AI speaker all the time haha >< The difference in dynamics really made his character enjoyable. It was not over the top and done just nicely.

I also enjoyed watching the very devoted female lead. I think KHJ was cute and bubbly. She had a good character development with the help of her boss so that was interesting as well. As a kpop stan I could also relate to how idolising someone doesnt mean u "like" the person cause in the end we only know them from the screens.

We also need to talk about Kang Hoon's fits. Wow the stylist did an amazing job every episode. I guess the fashion CEO setup helped alot cause instead of seeing suits all the time we got some really good fits with layers and jackets.

But I cant deny the plot is really veryyyy cliche, but i mean thats what I signed up for! I didnt really expect some mind blowing plots/makjang in this drama....i was really just here for the fluff.

Overall a really cute drama which occupied my mondays and tuesdays for 3 months. Definitely will rewatch !

Cute, so, so cute

This drama was just what I needed, does it actually deserve 8,5 objectively definitely no, but somehow it wheeled me in from the start and had me hooked all the way to the end, not wanting to let it go making me ignore such things that would normally annoy me such as second hand embarrassment, misunderstandings and over the top characters. But somehow I just didn't care and kept wanting more.

The story has so many old tropes, you would get Bingo ina trope card during the first episode,...

Was it highly predictable - yes

Did it lack all substance- also yes

Did I at times feel like I was in a Made in Korea infomericial/PPL fest K-everything.... Also YES; YES, YES

And again I couldn't care less, the characters are sweet, the smiles hit home and the hot n cold romance is just sooo cute. so are the friendships, the mom and a ll the small details where just so cute from the cats, to the plants to the smiles, cuteness overload.

So if you are in the mood for some cliches, a sweet romance, k-stuff and can handle some second hand embarrassment this is a really good choice.

Heads In The Clouds When You Should Stay Grounded

Another perfect example of the misguided laughable pathetic delusional thoughts and fantasies entertained by fanboys and fangirls alike towards the members of the Kpop/idol industry.......
You are not Cinderella or a toad who turns into a prince after a kiss from the princess. You are a customer and they are a product and a service in a twisted industry that doesn't care about either. Nothing more, nothing less. Best to keep thoughts and dreams of becoming that *special someone* to one or more members in it's community low and suppressed. I think ppl see these particular pieces as harmless, fluffy and cute dramas........but I think these works are what give rise to the numbers of stalking, harassment, invasion of privacy, obsession, and delusional thoughts of self importance IRL. There's too many who cannot differentiate between fantasy and reality and tired of hearing about the abuse and deaths occurring to the young ones in the industry 😞~
Good or bad, already happened or will in later eps, some of what I listed is what's occurring here mixed in with the same old half assed triangle of a pop star, high ranking executive, and employee..........a warm bubbly female employee at that who drips with delusion in every scene. Lol.......not one original aspect to be found~
No thanks. If I'm going to watch horrible over recycled tropes, it won't be this. Its fairly amusing watching the back and forth between Kdrama fans vs Kpop idols fans when they are cast along side their fav actors/actresses. I LOVE Kdrama and can tolerate idols from the industry crossing over to become actors. I think the faster they escape Kpop, the better off their lives will be. There's a large number who've successfully done it and I like quite a few..........but I'm not big on dramas with Kpop as a central theme. I'm also going to admit that other then a VERY few select songs that have made it through my preferences of hard metal, Kpop music is pure garbage to me. So that's a slight bias in regards to my review that should be known~
Lol......this will get blasted and that's fine. All good. But I watched 7 eps. That's 7 more than I should've. Even w/o a bias towards the industry, the hardcore delusional, over recycled tropes would've netted a similar low score. Hard pass~

Would I recommend it? Absolutely! ?

Twelve episodes of a sweet, fun and heartfelt office rom-com that were honestly such a lovely watch. 🥹💗

There was definitely a bit of a love triangle throughout the drama, but it never felt like a full-on, typical love triangle to me. And I kind of loved that, because I really liked both male leads and, at some point, I found myself rooting for both of them a little. 😂 So I definitely had mixed feelings about who I wanted her to end up with.

The drama had such a nice mix of heartwarming moments, funny scenes and more serious and emotional ones. It was just a really enjoyable watch that had a little bit of everything without feeling too heavy.

Towards the end, a few additional storylines were introduced that, in my opinion, weren’t really necessary. They didn’t bother me enough to ruin the experience, but I definitely could have lived without them.

What I especially loved was the cast. The chemistry between the actors was SO good, and I genuinely enjoyed watching them. They really brought the characters to life and made the sweet and funny moments even better. 🫶🏻

Overall, My Bias, My Boss was such a cute drama to watch in between heavier shows. It’s probably not going to become one of my all-time favorite K-dramas, but it was definitely a very enjoyable and worthwhile watch.

The most unlikeable couple I've ever seen

I absolutely hated this show so let me breakdown why.
-The show had so many plot threads that went nowhere or had such little payoff. There was a lot, but one example is how Da Reum talked about wanting best employee to on the trip for multiple episodes and then we never heard or saw anything about it again.
-I could tell whoever wrote this show is not a kpop fan and just guessed what it was like from looking online. All the saesang behavior aside (which I'll get into later), there were so many moments that my roommate and I knew a fan would not do or react the way they did in the show. We are huge kpop fans and the whole time we were watching, we rarely related to the "fans" in this and not just because of cultural differences. For example: At the reunion concert, the three girl friends would've sat together. It's fine their boyfriends are there too but they would've sat next to each other. Their all-time favorite group and the whole reason they became friends in the first place, has reunited after over ten years...they would've sat together and they would've been way more emotional about it than they were. The whole audience would've been way more emotional about it than they were.
-Going hand in hand with that last one, so much saesang behavior was called normal fan behavior in this show. Why is the fan culture we're showing?!
-We should've gotten way more of DNX. I don't just mean when they are back together and reunited either, i just mean in general they should've been in it more. I literally didn't even know two of the members names until I looked it up. The storyline of them getting really famous, breaking up, and getting back together was far more interesting than anything else happening in the show. We should've seen more of why they ended on such awful terms and what brought them back together, but we didn't. We just got the tiniest little bits and pieces of their story. Even though Chan was a main character, we didn't even see or hear much about what he thought on the group splitting. The few moments we got of DNX was so good.

My very few positives
-The scene with Chan and Da Reum on the couch in episode 11 or 12 where he tells her that he was the one who gave her the necklace, was so beautifully well done. There was so much raw emotion from both of them in that scene. It felt like a different write entirely wrote this scene.
-They did a great job showing the protests and scandals for actors and idols in Korea and how it affects them as well as the fans
-They did a great job showing how bad groups breaking up can be for the idols and fans as well, especially when ending on bad terms
-Seeing the team at Appello grow closer was really nice and fun to see. I loved seeing how they all brainstormed new ideas and worked hard together
-The music was great. I even added a few of the DNX songs to my Spotify
-The sets were cool, especially the Appello office
-The actors all did great for the most part as well

Onto characters
-Chan: I'm starting with him because he's the only one I liked out of the main three and was the most likeable in the whole show. I really wish he was in it more than he was. For being a main lead, we saw him so little. He was such an interesting character and had such depth to him as well as a fun and flirty personality. His storylines were also just better overall. Like I said before, I loved everything with DNX and the idol side of things! I also liked to see his actor side of things, his friendship with the CEO, the budding romance between him and Da Reum, and his history with Cho I. All his just seemed more thought out and exciting. I'm not just saying that because he's one of my favorite actors either. Though I will say, I loved seeing him as an idol.
-Ha Gi: He's got to be one of the worst and most unlikeable leads I've ever seen in a romcom and I've seen so many. He was so boring, had no personality, obsessed with his AI bot (that could be for a sponsor though so idk), and was so delusional. What I mean by delusional is how much he thought that Da Reum was in love with him, even when she thought he was gay, even when she told him straight up she didn't see him as more than a boss, and even before she began to have the slightest feelings for him at all.
-Da Reum: At first, I thought she was pretty funny and thought it was cool to see kpop fangirly as the main lead, but as the show went on it showed more and more that she wasn't a fan but was a saesang. Nothing made me happier than when there was the episode with the protests calling her out her being one. Thought that happiness was very quickly taken away when everyone else she was talking to told her she wasn't and the showed tried to convince us she wasn't by all these people saying the "fan" behavior they've done in the past which was just EVEN MORE SAESANG BEHAVIOR!! Another thing that bothered me about her is that she seemed to never know what she wanted. She would want something until she got it and then she wouldn't want it anymore. It drove me nuts. I will say I loved how driven she was and how great she was at her job. She showed time and time again why she kept being offered new opportunities and I loved that.

-Cho I caused a little drama in the beginning but other than she was such a useless character. We honestly could've had drama even without her. It felt like they wanted her to be a bigger antagonist than she was, but we didn't see her enough for her to be one.
-Jeong Yeon was introduced too late in the show for me to care about her at all. There was nothing wrong with her character really, but she was introduced so late that she didn't really affect anyone at all.
-Seong Uk was barely in the show, but I was still able to guess really early on that he was the mole. I think the show did a decent job misleading on who it was though, even if I did guess it early. I thought it was still crazy he betrayed Ha Gi though since his kids literally call Ha Gi uncle and they're really close outside of work. I did feel bad for the CEO with that.
-Min A and Yeong U were a lot of fun along with some of the other colleges like Mi Yeong. I think they all brought some funny moments to the show.
-Min U was such a catch. I loved him a lot. He brought some good comedy as well was just a good guy all around.
-Mi Mi's character was fine but didn't really stand out at all.
-Seul A was just another saesang in the show. I did like how she helped Roy make his way back to DNX again.

Relationships
-Chan and Da Reum: I really liked their relationship a lot. I knew going into the show that she was ending up with the ceo and was curious how they were going to make her not want the man she's been in love with for 10+ years, and I think they did it in a stupid way to be honest. Not the worst, but it definitely could've been better. He was so sweet to her, constantly asking if she was okay, was opening up to her, and really tried to get to know her. She on the other hand didn't put any effort in at all. I completely understand being upset when he left her at the dinner, but as for the other times they were interrupted, she knew going into this that he was a famous celebrity. I think it would've made more sense with her being upset over it if they were together longer. If we saw they were together longer and every time they're trying to have date, he was ditching her or him not being who she thought he was, then it would've made sense why she ended things, but he left her one time and she ended things. It was so ridiculous. I'll also say I think these two actors had better chemistry together than her and the CEO by a long shot.
-Ha Gi and Da Reum: As you can tell I already didn't like these two as characters and I didn't really like them as a couple either. We only ever saw them at work or work-related events or talking about work. They so rarely talking about things outside of work that it didn't really make sense why they fell for each in the first place, other than that they were constantly around each other in the workplace. We never saw them bond or relate to each other on anything or got really any emotional scenes between them, so the relationship felt so empty to me. Which leads me into my next point about them. They both have the emotional intelligence of a toddler. These people are supposed to be 30+ years old and were acting like little kids. I've seen toddlers more in tune with their feelings and thoughts than these two. Neither of them ever wanted to or knew how to express how they were feeling about anything. Their kissing was some of the worst I've seen in a long time too. You could tell the actress did not want to kiss him. They just had bad chemistry together as actors. Even in interviews I've seen, they didn't seem super comfortable around each other, and she seems to just not like him very much.
-Chan and Ha Gi: Their friendship in the first episode or so was really cute and they had moments throughout the rest of the show that were sweet, but for the most part they kind of were bad friends to each (mainly Ha Gi towards Chan). They didn't really tell each other anything and they're supposed to be best friends...sure. The actors had great chemistry together though. In the interviews they seemed way more into each other than with her.
-Da Reum, Min A, and Yeong U: I loved seeing the friendship between these three a a lot. It was really cute. I was shocked the two ended up together because I thought he was gay the whole time I can't lie.
-Our three girls: They did have some really cute and sweet moments together as friends and I loved that liking the same group is how they became friends to begin with, but a lot of what we saw was just them supporting each others saesang behavior.
-Mi Mi and Min U's relationship was cute for the most part but the playing hard to get was so childish.

Overall, as you can tell, I really hated this show. It was only on for six weeks and those two hours every week really dragged. It's by far the worst thing I've seen Woomin in. I have very few good things to say about this show and absolutely would never recommend this anyone.

MBMB, you had me looking forward to mondays and tuesdays!!!

I loved this drama SO much!! It definitely had its ups and downs in the later half but honestly, I’m still giving it a 10/10 for how it made me feel throughout the show. While it was airing, I was genuinely so excited and looked forward to Mondays and Tuesdays just so I could watch my fav drama 😭

Considering it’s a romcom, obviously we all expected a little more romance, but I guess all the little cute things throughout the show from the very beginning somehow kept us hooked. And the leads, especially Kang Hoon, did SUCH an amazing job with all the little silly cutesy acts!!!!! Like pls 😭 I’ve been following Kang Hoon’s work for quite a long time and it was really nice seeing him as a lead in a romcom, and he did it SO well. Hagi was just so cute and I loved watching him in this!!

I genuinely loved the entire cast and it really felt like everyone put their heart into this production. There was just something very warm about watching all of them.

And Dareum’s character was probably one of my fav parts of the drama because getting to see everything from a fan’s POV was just so relatable. Her being a fan, chasing her dreams and being so motivated because of her bias… I feel like that hit very close to every fan’s heart.

I just REALLY wish we had 16 eps instead of 12 because it felt way too short to wrap everything up. The last ep especially felt so rushed?? It was like they had to quickly touch up on everyone’s lives and somehow get everything under wrap in one episode. I would've loved to see all of that unfold a little more naturally.

And PLEASE, I needed more of Dareum and Hagi actually dating. We got all these cute little moments throughout the drama and then when we finally could've gotten more of their dating era... it was already ending?? 🥲

But despite all of that, I’m still giving this one a 10/10, mostly because of how much happiness it gave me while watching it. Sometimes a drama just becomes your drama while it's airing, and this was definitely one of those for me <3

Would REALLY love to see the main leads together in another drama because I’m not ready to let them go just yet :’)

MY BIAS MY BOSS❌/MY BOSS BECAME MY BIAS✔️

I loved it as someone who don't like rom coms I liked it so much it wasn't anything new or unique but the way they excueted every cliche made me fall in love the main leads without any doubt had superb chemistry the besties of fl was such breath of fresh air in all these toxic besties dramas recently and I liked how they actually show Kang hagi as a CEO he actually does overtime pay attention to people near and is actually worried about them and he is not the cold CEO who does a meeting once in a while and throw everything on the secretary to do it the workplace employees were also really sweet and supporting I like each one of them I liked how instead of villianizing the 2nd ml and the ex of hagi the story actually redeemed them and all the things ended with them on a positive note I liked how hagi was so supportive of dareum when she was going to Paris or when she was fangirling and living her dream same with dareum she actually understood him when he was at his lowest point and gave him strength to actually depend on her overall this drama is definitely my comfort watch will watch it again someday
