8/10 A Realistic Take On Celebrities'

I'm honestly a big fan of the concept. I love that it's a drama within a drama - like getting two stories in one. But I do wish they varied the setting a bit. Almost every scene takes place by the seashore, so it starts to feel a little repetitive.
The Sparkle in Your Eye gives a pretty realistic glimpse into celebrity life. It follows a popular actor and a rising rookie as they work together on a BL film. Both of them carry emotional baggage, but one of them has been through something even heavier. As they spend more time together, they start to find comfort in each other.
1 really liked how they introduced Pei in the first episode. You could tell he wasn't exactly thrilled to meet Suyi, but he didn't show it outright. Meanwhile, Suyi was clearly excited - he's a fan of Pei's work, and you can see it in the way he carries himself. He acts like someone meeting their idol for the first time - a little awkward, but full of admiration.
Pei doesn't hate Suyi, but he comes off as the "I-don't-really-care" type. He's cold, distant, and just wants to get the job done - which honestly feels pretty real. I'm sure there are actors like that in real life too. He's got that grumpy, no-nonsense energy, while Suyi is the total opposite - sweet, charming, and soft-spoken.
The acting is on point. Everything feels natural, especially the way the lead actors connect. Their chemistry is just chef's kiss - subtle but strong. There are a lot of kissing scenes, though most of them are cut short and cleverly blocked by camera angles.
As for the side couple (the director and the scriptwriter), I'm not really into them. They're always bickering and honestly, their dynamic just feels kinda toxic.
You can tell the series didn't have a big budget, but the storytelling more than makes up for it. The OST is also beautiful - it really adds to the mood. I'd love to see a sequel or a season two where the main couple gets to be all lovey-dovey and spend more time together.
The Sparkle In Your Eye's plot may be simple, but it carries deep emotions and tells a story that feels genuine and true to life.

No geral, The Sparkle in Your Eye é uma obra bem dramática, melancólica e até filosófica. É o tipo de BL que pesa mais no emocional.

O Pei Jia começa a história sendo extremamente babaca, aparentemente sem motivo, o que até lembra a forma como muitas celebridades são retratadas (e às vezes realmente como realmente se comportam) na vida real.
Já o Su Yi é um aspirante a ator, um desafortunado, que definitivamente não merecia a humilhação pela qual passou.

Confesso que passei muita raiva no início, mas gostei da virada quando o Pei Jia se apaixona. Ele muda bastante, vira outra pessoa, e isso faz diferença na dinâmica do casal.

Não curto muito quando a trama envolve doenças, principalmente quando afeta diretamente os protagonistas, mas isso é uma questão pessoal minha. Ainda assim, entendo a proposta narrativa.

Achei interessante a abordagem da trama do empresário abusador e a forma como a indústria do entretenimento funciona quando há uma relação de poder tão desigual entre alguém influente e alguém que está começando.
Isso é muito real, o que não faltam são casos na vida real de empresários assediadores envolvendo atores, cantores e até produções infantis.
Porém, não sei se a forma como a obra tratou o tema do est*pr* foi a mais adequada.

Já tinha esquecido do casal secundário, mas lembro que não gostei deles juntos.

O casal principal funciona, mas de um jeito triste, muito marcado pelas consequências de tudo o que acontece. Ainda assim, foi bonito ver como o Pei Jia não abandona o Su Yi, mesmo diante de tantas dificuldades.

O final é aberto, já que não dão mais detalhes sobre a possível cirurgia que o Su Yi poderia fazer, uma cirurgia que pelo menos salvasse a sua vida.
Isso deixa um clima meio deprê, com aquela sensação de incerteza que acompanha a obra até o último momento.
