A great and novel story

This movie started off as fast paced face smaking action comedy musical, and never let the tempo nor the rhythm drop below 10. After a very long time I felt like a child rewatching the classic disney, yet it was new, it was unique, it was Korean!! Arden Cho, Ejae, Audrey Nuna, May Hong, Ji-Young Yoo, Rei Ami, Anh Hyo Seop, Andrew Choi and Finally the director Maggie Kim. I was so so stunned watching this quality on-screen. This should have been released in theatres world wide!! Its a generational Film.

Once in a while, there comes a movie that defies all expectations. I'm still in shock at how much I like it.

I didn't think the animation looked pretty at first, especially Rumi's scorpion hairstyle. But I completely changed my mind the moment I saw the OG demon hunters with their graceful flourishes. There's beauty in the movements, the dance choreography, and the facial expressions. The characters have so much personality to them, even minor ones like the kooky doctor and the lesser demons.

The screenplay strikes the right balance in keeping the plot simple and focusing on Rumi and Jinu's personal journey. The dialogue is a little clumsy at times, but the writers still manage to show more than tell. They show that you can rise above your flaws and failings instead of letting them define you. The ending is a little rushed, though, not allowing time to mourn the loss of an important character.

The people who put together the OST are insane perfectionists. Sure, they used autotune, but it makes perfect sense in the context of the modern setting. The songs don't just sound amazing, they're cleverly written and an integral part of the storytelling. “Free” is one of the most romantic songs I ever heard, full of yearning and vulnerability. It reminds us of why we fall in love.

Korean culture is nicely featured here. It's not in-your-face, but lovingly woven into the little details, used as a world-building tool and a way to ground the fantasy. They leave out the dark side of idol culture, although it's hinted at in the sinister number “Your Idol.” The fans here are portrayed as a purely positive force, which is ironic for a movie about acknowledging your flaws. But I respect the writers’ decision not to go there.

People are clamoring for a sequel. Even the director wants to do it, saying that there are so many questions left unanswered. That's a bad sign. You should never make a movie just for the purpose of “answering questions.” Some things are best left to the viewer's imagination (and fanfiction). I worry that in their hurry to meet demands, the filmmakers will churn out trash instead of another gold.

Became one of my favourite animation film ever ˖ ࣪. ࿐ ♡˚.

I usually don't write reviews but a review for this was totally needed.

My expectations were so low when I first heard the title "Kpop demon hunters" but NAH it proved me all wrong. overall everything was so perfect; the story, the animation🤌🏻, the musics🫡, the characters, everything was legit. I was so DAMN amazed.

Kpop: Main theme being kpop what it made me to watch it. As a hardcore stan, I literally loved how this movie portrayed kpop and it's fans. The songs are sooo refreshing and all of them are such BOPS❗I added all of them to my playlists as soon as I heard them😛 So happy that non kpop fans are also fan watching this and liking it. I will say that this movie was literally made for me. I like the characters too, rumi is my bias in huntr/x (HER VOICE) and abby in saja boys (ABS HEH) LOL. I love saja boys and huntr/x and their concepts?!? Totally my type.

Ending: I loved it when they sang 'take down' and sealed the honmoon but was jinu dying really necessary😭 I CRIED SO MUCH AT THAT PART and I realised I was rigged in the name of love. rujinu could've been the perfect couples ever but no they had to kill the ml, literally all that romantic buildup for nothing but to go in vain.. WE DIDN'T GET TO SEE MYSTERY'S FACE TOO!! + gwima is going to my hear me out list👅

Overall: chat just watch it. don't listen to the people hating kpop. kpop is fun and the songs are good! especially when you just listen to the songs and not listening to a bitch who whispers in your ears saying it's not (my personal experience and opinion) ANYWAYS IT'S A WORTH WATCH ⭐

A cultural fenomenon

I didn’t know that kisskh also features animations. In that case, I’d love to post reviews on some Pororo movies as well :)

As for KPop Demon Hunters, it’s a truly great movie, with stylish animation, an emotional story, exciting action sequences, and top-charting songs. And everything fits together perfectly. What more could someone ask for? The team behind this film managed to create a universal story that at the same time pays perfect homage and respect to both K-pop and Korean culture.

Rarely do we get a movie with this much rewatch value—not only for the songs and the animated action but also for the many small details that can be discovered with each repeat viewing. It’s a film that captures both the energy of a concert and the imagination of a fantasy adventure. KPop Demon Hunters is definitely a movie to remember.

The night before I returned to Malaysia, I watched this film with my niece and daughter—and we were all completely captivated by the story. What really drew us in were the powerful lines and incredibly catchy songs. The music stuck with us long after the movie ended.

In fact, my 8-year-old niece loved it so much, she immediately watched it again right after we finished!

Overall, it's a fun and entertaining K-pop-inspired animated movie that blends action, music, and heart in a way that both kids and adults can enjoy.

Good but not a Perfect ?

So I finally got around to watching K-Pop Demon Hunter, and I’d say it was a solid 7/10 for me. It’s one of those projects where I really liked parts of it, but there were a few things that kept me from fully loving it. On the surface, it’s flashy, stylish, and definitely entertaining. But when you dig in, there are areas where I wish they had gone further, especially with the group dynamic.

Let’s start with what worked: the music and visuals. Honestly, this movie looked amazing. Every performance sequence was a feast for the eyes, and I could tell the production team went all out to make it feel like a real K-pop stage, just cranked up with supernatural energy. The colors, the sets, the choreography—it all looked expensive and creative. They even managed to blend in those demon-hunting effects without making it cheesy, which is not easy to do. You could freeze-frame almost any moment and it would look like a poster.

The music was also well produced. The beats hit hard, the choruses were catchy, and you could tell the songs were designed to stick in your head. For me personally, though, the soundtrack just wasn’t my style. That’s not to say the music was bad—far from it—it just wasn’t the kind of thing I’d add to my playlist. Still, I respect the effort because it really fit the vibe of the movie, and for a lot of people it’s probably the highlight.

Now here’s where my main issue comes in: the Saja Boys. I was excited to see how the whole group would be used in the story, but most of them were barely involved. The focus was mainly on the leads, and the rest of the members felt more like backup characters than actual teammates. That was disappointing, because one of the best parts of K-pop is the group chemistry—each member brings something different to the table. If the movie had taken more time to develop the other guys or given them moments to shine, it would have felt richer and more balanced. Instead, it leaned too heavily on just a couple of characters.

That being said, I still enjoyed the ride. The action scenes were fun, the fantasy elements gave it a unique twist, and the over-the-top style matched the whole concept. It’s not the kind of film you watch for deep storytelling—it’s more about the spectacle, and in that sense, it delivered. But I can’t help thinking how much better it could’ve been if they had taken advantage of the full cast.

So yeah, K-Pop Demon Hunter was good, not great. I’d call it a flashy, entertaining experiment that shows how far K-drama and K-pop aesthetics can go when blended with fantasy action. With stronger music (at least for my taste) and more equal involvement from the Saja Boys, it could’ve easily been an 8 or 9. For now, though, 7/10 feels just right.
Do you want me to polish this further into something you could post on a review site/blog, or keep it as a casual fan reaction for something like social media?

A Surprisingly Good and Passionate Film

Going into this movie, I truly thought it wouldn’t be good. I was in for a surprise. The OST is incredible, the animation is smooth, and the story is interesting. The only major flaws are how rushed the ending felt and how Mira and Zoey weren’t given that much screentime although they were part of the group. I also wasn’t that hyped over the Saja Boys or Jinu, but they were alright. Overall, it’s a nice and engaging film that keeps you interested throughout. (and a plus for having really good songs that you can sing)

Kpop demon hunters

I did not expected it here, eventhough I know there are some animated production, more like the fact that it's american one but at the same time it is mostly connected to Korea so yeah it makes sense.
Well I actually loved this movie, I even rewatch and it is probably the only production I rewatched this year (athougth Newtopia is tempting so much). The biggest advantage of this movie is music and vocals, it carried - and it reminds a lot of kpop songs so it makes sense that kpop fans loved it (we all know that Golden is like I am by Ive, Your Idol gives Ateez or old BTS vibe, How it's down and Takedown gives Blackpink and Everglow). Also Baby reminds me Suga, no matter what anyone says, he is Suga for me XD. Story is nothing new but pretty well made. Animation is really pretty. Animals are cute. It is funny and I believe that for many will be overhyped but as far as I did not wanted to watch it (because of that reason, I mostly do not try hyped things, they need time when I get hyped or a really long time) I have to agree that it really is a good movie.
And no it does not really need second movie, but still would work. I am sure of one thing if it was longer as it supposed to be many people who cry about shortening would not like it in full lenght.
Side note: rating acting here is a little bulls*it

First things first, why this movie is here? It doesn't meet the requirement to be here I suppose?

The story is quite lightweight, animated movie level. It's about an idol group HUNTR/X who is also a demon hunter part-timer. The idea is excelllent to be honest, but the execution relies too much on the music. Like for every problem, the solution is always music. The animation is excellent, but somehow the motion is a bit not smooth. For the cast I prefer to have the actor/actress who do both the voiceover and singing, though the current option is still excellent. Jinu's voice alters a lot between his normal and singing voice.

I have seen a lot of KDramas, they often disappoint us with lackluster ending. Although this movie isn't even Korean, I don't understand why they replicate this "culture". With such great story idea and decent build up, they bottled it so hard. The ending is quite anticlimatic and lazy. Think about it: after winning such big fight, then it's... the end?? I think they didn't show whether Gwi Ma is defeated or not for potential sequel. However, the way they didn't tell us how can Rumi become half-demon/half-hunter is pretty disappointing. Another thing annoys me a lot is HUNTR/X never complete their main songs on screen.

This movie relies so hard on the soundtracks, either existing or new songs all are lit. They have #1 Billboard 100 song and #1 Billboard 200 album now, INSANE! For the lightweight story and catchy soundtracks, it is very recommended for rewatch, escpecially for younger people.

PS: Since it's a US show, I'll give my rating with US standard instead of "suggested overall".

The editing cripples the story

I like the concept of the movie, but the execution fell flat because the editing style is horrendous!! It’s sooo obvious they edited this for short attention spans and that hindered the overall plot and emotional impact. Great for children, but it’s also training their minds for shorter attention.

There’s too many scene cuts and the story itself didn’t have enough time to breathe. It makes no sense why to two main leads were suddenly liking each other after two conversations. It just bad because the whole thing was rushed and poorly planned. Only a few songs were actually good.
