Super Cute Vampire BL

I placed spoilers at the end of this review.

Vampire movies/series usually head into two different directions. It can either go the dark, moody, and creepy route or the tongue-in-check, funny, and cute route. If you are looking for the first version, you should probably skip this series.

Overall, this was such a fun, lighthearted, and cut series. They did a great job creating an interesting storyline and making you care about all of the characters. The script was perfect in giving just the right amount of information without getting to bogged down with details. However, I do have a few small critiques. I thought the pacing was perfect considering the number of episodes. For the most part, they use the screentime very effectively. There were only a few times they used unnecessary flashback or filler scenes. The actors did a great job making their characters relatable and very likable, especially the vampire characters which is not an easy task. I would not have guessed they were new to the field.

Random Notes:

This is one example why I enjoy Korean BL series with shorter screen times and small episode count.

The opening credits was very cool.

The location interior used for their house was also use in the series “Oh! My Boarding House”. However, it seems they used a different location for the exterior.

******Potential Spoiler Alert******

Although I understand the time constraints, I would have loved a tad more about the vampire world in this series. I also would have loved a more defined ending for the second couple.

I’m not a fan of love triangles, but it was actually well written and was not the main focal point of the series.

A Sparse But Moving And Romantic Korean BL

Despite it being a somewhat minimalist, austere (low-budget?) production without much lore or special effects, I really enjoyed this one. The acting was good, and got better as the show progressed. But the chemistry of the two romantic leads is what really makes this one work, I think. I found myself really rooting for them. The writing was good as well, though I do wish they'd included a little more vampire lore for fun. These particular vampires seem like perfectly normal guys who just happen to need to drink blood. I.e., they can walk around in sunlight, eat human food, etc. But that's ok. I definitely wouldn't mind a second season of this one. It'd be fun to explore the developing relationship between human Dong Ha and vampire Ju Won some more. Overall, I'd recommend this one to anyone who might enjoy an understated but moving and romantic Korean BL.

Cutie Vampires!

I watched this show like a movie (which isn't hard, considering how short it is) and quite enjoyed it! I thought the casting was great, and the storyline wasn't overly complex and managed to fit everything into the short time that they had. Did I want a proper neck bite? Of course. Do I love domestic found family vampires? Also yes.

When Dongha signs a lease for a shared apartment, he has no clue that he's moving in with four vampires - in fact, he doesn' even know that vampires are real. Three of his new housemates seem thrilled that he's there....perhaps a bit too thrilled, in fact. However, the fourth roommate, Joowan, is not nearly as welcoming. Dongha is determined to get on Joowan's good side, but Joowan is adamant that Dongha move out. As Dongha and Joowan grow closer, Joowan's cold exterior melts away.

This show was super cute and sweet without drawn out conflicts. It was predictable but fun, and the actors did a great job. If you want basically a bunch of cutiepie vampires living as a little family, a cold vampire x sweet human romance, and a heartwarming gay story? This is a fun time. Don't go looking for anything much deeper - just enjoy the fun!

This was just straight bullshit

Like what? I mean, the guys are handsome, and I guess the premise is fine, but they fucked around in my face for 8 episodes. I would give it 7 (8.06) out of 10. I am going to say what I liked, what I didn't, and then be done with this (this is gonna be lowkey short because the show is short).

THE GUYS ARE TO DIE FOR HANDSOME IN THIS. The main vampire guy looks like S.Scoups from Seventeen's twice-removed cousin. And the guy who isn't the tall guy in the other couple looks like TXT's Beomgyu if he had wispy ass bangs and slightly more sunken eyes. Very handsome men all around. They have pretty good chemistry, I think, especially our second couple, and that made this slightly more enjoyable. I like the vampire bit being secret; that was cute, and it was fun. The kiss and the dates were cute, and I did enjoy that. The intro was fun, and I liked the way they did that. Uh, yeah, that is it.

Lowkey reminds me of the story of biheyong whatever the fuck the giant globin bitch or whatever that show was. And that is not a good thing. It is too short to be good, I can't lie. They fell short, especially with plot and lore. It had one plot, and it was incredibly boring, and they spent the entire show in two places and really didn't do anything. We didnt get any lore on the vampires or on the human guy, besides the fact that he wanted to go to school, and I think that is where the show fell short. I have no reason to watch or enjoy the show if the characters have no meaning or writing in them, and they are just bullshit fucking characters. Also, the romance writing is doo doo water, like there was none, I swear to god. Yeah, just boring and they fucked around in my face for the entire show, and I was lowkey zoning out the entire time lmao. The start was also mid. OH, AND RIP TO THAT SEXY GUY WHO DIDN'T GET PUT IN A PAIR BECAUSE THERE WAS AN UNEVEN AMOUNT OF CHARACTERS.

Okay episode thoughts. "Same kind of vibe as bihyeong, which was good but really weird lmao and had a bad ending." "I am assuming that the annoying guy is the love interest. Uh, yeah, pretty plot lacking, but it's fine, and the guys are good-looking. Yeah, and this is short as fuck, so yeah." "Fun intro. They are trying to fatten him up, lmao. Please tell me the two funny vampires are a couple." "Crappy romance writing lmao. But they are very cute and scoups twice removed cousin is lowkey sexy af." " Okay, we are getting some romance building with this leftfield ass date. This lowkey doesn’t have any plot besides the vampires. I need a good vampire, though I can't lie. Jealousy with the second couple. What a handsome cowboy. Getting some cute moments, rip that hot guy with no lover lmao." "Curiosity killed the mother fucking cat bitch. And the mask is insane. We realize we have feelings for each other. That’s cute. Still rooting for my second couple for real for real." "I feel like I didn’t really know the characters just fucked around in my face for two hours, but it’s like it’s not the worst thing I’ve ever seen, but it’s also like not very good."

A pretty skippable show that you can have on in the background while you struggle to pay attention in class. Okay bye!

I knew this mini-series was going to win me over because I love vampire stories, and even with that theme, My Secret Vampire turns out to be light, fun, super sweet, and surprisingly cute. It’s full of charming Korean oppas, centered around four chaotic, funny vampires and one clueless human.

The script could’ve been a bit tighter, but the story flows well and balances humor, flirting, and drama in a way that keeps you entertained. The cast does a great job all around, and Park Dong Ju is spot-on as poor Dong Ha, the unsuspecting human who’s about to become the vampires’ favorite snack.

What really hooked me, though, was the romance between Dong Ha and Joowoon, the brooding vampire who steps in as Dong Ha’s protector to keep him from ending up on the menu. Park Dong Ju and Yu Sin are just adorable together! Their chemistry feels so natural and sweet that it’s easy to believe in their love story. Every interaction between them radiates warmth, tenderness, and innocence.

it was better than i expected

When i first started to watch this series i had really super low expectations considering it had vampires throughout the storyline. Even though it was a very short series to watch it did not feel rushed which i really liked. But again with the vampires even though the plot depends on this topic you can’t really get to see the vampires. But again considering this is a very short series you couldn’t really expected them to put the topic first instead of the couple. Also about the couple i think that the actors had very good chemistry which made the series better than expected. I think that with the way that story goes on if they had awkward acting or chemistry it wold have been very painful to watch. But i still think that there is room for improvement in this series. I would love to see something similar just longer and more of the vampire theme.

cute VAMPIRE story

The plot is quite plain, but the acting is fabulous. The lead Dongha is absolutely adorable, and the cast also gives out handsome or stunning vampire looks to add spice to the storytelling. The story is well paced and never feels too rushed. The humor and smiling faces are a delight to watch and fills one's heart with content and warmth. The LOVE is felt all throughout the show with amamazing chemistry between characters.

p.s Kang Seon was my fav. He is smart, cunning and lovable at the same time, who played his role really well. Fell for him more and more as the show progressed

Too short for the story

The show seems quite different from the original synopsis I read, although either that was somewhere else or the MDL one is updated. It's a little less quirky and fun than that synopsis implied, and a little more of a straight-ahead romance. The world-building feels a bit underdone, and the angst of episode 7 a little out of scale with what the story has provided thus far. There are far too many flashbacks for such a short series.

Overall, it was cute, but it could have been better with some tighter writing and maybe leaning a little harder into the moral grey areas that the vampire genre allows for.

Utterly charming, a pure delight!

Rarely have I been more pleasantly surprised by a show I went into watching completely blind!
Right off the bat I will say that if you are looking for something deep or dramatic, or a story that really dives into vampire lore then this is not the show for you.
However, if you are in the market for a story that really understands how silly, camp, and queer vampires inherently are (I like to call this the What We Do In The Shadows approach to vampirism) while also delivering grounded and humanising portrayals of its characters, then you are very much in the right place.

Due to its relatively short runtime the show really has to strip down its story to the bare essentials, leaving only what is most important. This, for the most part, works greatly in its favour - putting focus solely on strong characterisations and important plot points while leaving no time for unnecessarily drawn out conflicts or melodrama.
I was in fact shocked by how much time the show sets aside for slow, quiet moments between its characters, and how skillfully it weaves important plot elements into these scenes, conveying all that is needed without having to hurry through multiple, slapped-together exposition dumps.
The only time the story feels rushed is, somewhat unfortunately, during the climactic final two episodes, but personally I didn't find this particularly bothersome.

All in all this is an utterly delightful vampiric romp (though it barely concerns itself with such trivial things as lore or backstory) with deeply charming characters and a fantastic, slightly off-beat sense of humour which celebrates its characters in all their camp glory without ever being so over-the-top as to take away from more emotional moments.
Two hours very well spent, I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Korean Vampire BL With heartflutters

Not The storyline does not seem to be very unique, but the cast and the script manage This common theme has both very funny and very emotional aspects. For example, when the vampire gang tries to feed their prey (their roommate) to the weight of which It can be sucked, disguised as opulent breakfasts and parties.

Und Jewoon Torn between his own desires and the attempt to protect the new human addition from the bite attempts of his fellow residents. As is unfortunately often the case, the episodes are very short and so there isn't much time for character development, but it still seems acceptable. If you are looking for a short entertaining BL with an Enemy to Lovers trope With really good Chemestry, you've come to the right place.

what did they put in this?!

I LOVED this bl, ofc it has room for improvement but overall I feel like it was so goodddd, it def kept me hook.
I think (just like any other kbl) time was their bigggest enemy, it feels more like a movie rather than a series, so don’t expect a lot of drama.
For me it was great given the circumstances and don’t let me start with the chemistry!!!!! both actors were great and from ep 1 you could already see their chemistry, which tbh it was the reason why I stayed and became obsessed.

also… the last kiss???????????? they ATE (literally)

Honestly whats there to like?

Ive read other reviews and it ltrl feels like ive watched an entirely different bl. The actors are average at best, the story line very boring and easy to predict, it generally feels just like every other low budget series ive watched before.
Definitely not good enough for a 5 star rating- had to skip most of the time and it really wasnt as good as the other reviews said.
