Let’s be real: this drama survives almost entirely on **steamy kiss scenes**. Every episode is basically, *plot? who is she?* But weirdly enough, the vibe is good. It’s entertaining, light, and oddly comforting if you don’t expect depth, logic, or a groundbreaking story.

Did it change my life? **No.**
Did it confuse me? **Yes.**
Did I still enjoy it? **Also yes.**

I personally enjoyed all the **passionate kiss scenes** a lot, and that’s honestly the main reason it held my attention till the end. It’s not a typical BL, not something I’d hype as a masterpiece, but it’s also not boring enough to drop.

So yeah, I’m giving it a **7/10**.
Not because it’s great, but because it’s **decent time-pass entertainment**.

“Tide of Love” arrives as one of 2025’s most anticipated Korean BL dramas, but unfortunately, it struggles to rise above its own hype. What should have been a sweeping emotional romance ends up feeling oddly hollow, weighed down by inconsistent storytelling and character arcs that never fully take shape.

The biggest flaw lies in the pacing. Scenes that should carry emotional weight feel rushed, while unimportant moments drag on endlessly. Instead of building tension, the drama often slips into repetition—similar arguments, recycled misunderstandings, and dramatic pauses that feel forced rather than meaningful.

The leads, despite having notable chemistry in certain moments, are often trapped in poorly written dialogue. Their motivations shift abruptly from episode to episode, making it difficult to connect with them or root for their relationship. What should have been a slow-burn romance turns into a cycle of possessiveness, jealousy, and emotional whiplash that doesn’t offer much payoff.

Supporting characters fare even worse, existing mostly as plot devices rather than fully realized individuals. Their actions feel random, included only to push the story forward or manufacture drama rather than contribute naturally to the narrative.

Visually, the show attempts a moody, oceanic aesthetic, but the heavy blue filters and dim lighting become tiring quickly. Instead of enhancing the emotional tone, the visuals make the drama feel monotonous and lifeless. Even the OST—usually a highlight in Korean BLs—fails to leave a lasting impression.

Ultimately, “Tide of Love” is a drama with potential but lacks the emotional depth and cohesive storytelling needed to make it memorable. For viewers expecting a heartfelt, well-crafted BL romance, this one might feel more like being pulled into shallow waters than experiencing the tide of love it promised.

The trailer promised something the series couldn't deliver — and the premise didn't help

I'll be honest: I watched this because the trailer sold it as something sexy and I was receptive to that. Sex sells, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. The coastal setting, the tension, the aesthetic — it looked like it had something.
It didn't, at least not for me.
The setup is already on shaky ground from the start — an art student who gets to live rent-free in exchange for sleeping with the owner of the villa. The series frames this as a contract that slowly softens into something real, but I kept getting stuck on what it actually is: a financially desperate young man with no experience being propositioned by someone in a position of power over him. Fifty Shades of Grey energy, and not in a way that glamorises it interestingly.
The BDSM elements made it worse rather than better. It read to me like someone had heard of the concept, acquired some props, and called it done. There's no sense that anyone involved had looked into what that dynamic actually looks like when it's handled with care and genuine understanding. It felt performative in a way that was more uncomfortable than erotic.
The chemistry between the leads didn't save it for me either. By the end very little had landed and even less had stayed. Not the series I was hoping for.

entertaining without the quality

Look I’m not a fan of BDSM when it comes to BL at all (no hate to anyone who is) and I was bored and decided to give this a shot because why not??

BOY maybe because I am not too critical or phased about things but this was entertainment - the acting is good, the characters are good, the ML Jaehoon is crazy and controlling but I was just surprised at the scenes!!! Like damn!! Jaehoon’s actor is so good!!

If you watch this, please do not expect a quality production (especially the audio and camera work), I’m pretty sure it’s low budget and some edits were awkward but I like it enough to see to the end.

I've watched Myeong Cheol's other projects and his acting was pretty good but here both the lead's acting just sucked😅

I don't understand hae jun deciding to randomly smile at moments. Like bro ur forced to work cz of ur mom and ur only all sad till u entered the house and in the room he has a big smile🙃

As for jae hun😅😅... i think he was trying to act cold but that just came totally off😆😆. Sorry but it was bad. As everyone is saying the NC scenes are really bad like some bluring effect would have helped or just hinting what happened and cutting it off also would work but they kept it as it is and all they did was kiss with 0 chemistry. They were punching each other with their face literally 😆😆.

PROMETERAM UMA COISA E ENTREGARAM OUTRA DENTRO DE UMA NARRATIVA CONFUSA

Quando eu coloquei essa série na minha lista de coisas para assistir eu coloquei porque a sinopse e as tags me prometeram BDSM e um romance curto porém intenso e envolvente, mas não temos BDSM e o romance não foi bem desenvolvido.

PONTOS POSITIVOS (o que eu gostei):

- Gosto da personalidade inicial do Han Jae Hun que é séria, dominadora e possessiva
- Gosto da temática de personagem submisso e personagem dominante
- Logo no começo um esta se vendendo então é relutante e o outro é desconfiado mas sedento. Essa dinâmica foi "bem" retratada no começo com o Kim Hae Jun sendo resistente e se esquivando apesar de estar gostando
- A proposta das cenas sexuais foram boas, eu entendi o que quiseram fazer, mas a execução deixou muito a desejar. Eu gostei dos castigos

PONTOS NEGATIVOS (o que eu não gostei):

- As cenas tem cortes muito abruptos e esses cortes são excessivos. Em apenas alguns segundos você tem vários cortes diferentes extremamente grosseiros
- A atuação do ator que faz o Kim Hae Jun não é muito boa e isso se conecta com o que eu disse anteriormente sobre ter gostado da resistência dele no começo, uma das formas que mostraram foi com ele mal abrindo a boca na hora dos beijos, mas conforme o tempo passava eu percebi que isso era uma caraterística do ator e não um detalhe do começo. Não foi muito legal
- A dublagem é muito artificial, seja da fala ou dos sons que estão sendo feitos
- A edição é muito ruim, é bem amadora, e isso é evidenciado até pela qualidade das câmeras utilizadas, porque em uma única cena vemos mais de um ângulo e sempre parecia que uma câmera tinha mais qualidade que a outra
- Emendando no tópico acima temos o delay nas cenas. Quando acontece o corte para mostrar um outro ângulo da mesma cena você percebe que eles colocam a cena muito adiantada e os movimentos não são contínuos
- O som também some, abafa e oscila o tempo todo
- Foi prometido BDSM e isso não acontece em nenhum momento. Tapar a visão, dar uns tapas e brincar com sufocamento por água são apenas fetiches e sexo agressivo, não é BDSM de verdade. Eu entendi o que quiseram fazer, mas a execução não foi bem feita principalmente pelas cenas não estarem muito bem coreografadas. Sexo agressivo e punitivo é sempre divertido, mas a coreografia tem que estar no ponto
- E por fim temos as cenas que uma não tem nada haver com a outra, as coisas eram completamente jogadas, nada foi trabalhado de forma linear. Sempre que uma cena parecia estar pegando no tranco ela acabava

Esse projeto aparenta uma coisa e entrega outra completamente diferente. Eu realmente não gostei, mas aprecio a tentativa. Essa série merece um remake mais bem trabalhado.
