Asami Mitsuhiko Series 16 (2001)

For an article on literary walks, reporter Asami Mitsuhiko heads to Matsuyama in Shikoku for research. Naturally, his mother Yukie accompanies him. Not fond of flying, Mitsuhiko travels by ship, where he encounters a woman wearing a white hat, Inamoto Atsuko. Atsuko mistakes Mitsuhiko for a stalker and leaves, but the next day, she is found dead. Meanwhile, while enjoying sightseeing guided by Hatano, Mitsuhiko meets Mizunuma Mariko and falls in love at first sight. When Mitsuhiko and the group arrive at Uchikoza Theatre, a haiku gathering is taking place. On stage are Mizunuma Tetsuo, Mariko’s grandfather and the event’s judge, and Hado Yujiro, who has feelings for Mariko. Suddenly, the electricity in the hall goes out.
