Asami Mitsuhiko Series 26 (2008)

Asami Yukie, the mother of reporter Asami Mitsuhiko, discovers a man’s body at a cemetery in Sugamo. The victim is Toki Katsuzo, the elder of the prestigious Toki clan, an old family from Tsuwano—often called the “Little Kyoto of San’in.” Katsuzo had collapsed in front of the Kozu family grave, and traces on the pedestal suggest it had been unnaturally moved. From this, Mitsuhiko deduces that Katsuzo may have been trying to retrieve burial goods from the Kozu family grave. Mitsuhiko immediately visits Kozu Yoji, a blood relative of the Kozu family, but Kozu curtly claims to know nothing about the incident.
