Not bad for a Thai GL comedy!

The comedy is decent, the chemistry between the leads is on point & nothing particularly annoying happens throughout the entire show. -review basically over

There is a minimum character limit on MDL, so let's talk about the story & setting a bit. Of course it's completely nonsensical aka utterly ridiculous, but the show does not take itself seriously at any point & the annoying tropes are for real kept to a minimum, and so the end result is a very unusual Thai drama that is actually worth watching.

Though I suppose personally I would have preferred less fan service. It's great that frequent sex is implied for a young couple, but it's almost softcore porn-ish here. Anyway it doesn't bother me much, I know how to use the fastforward button. If I had to choose between Korean style pre-teen romancing & this, I would go for the latter every time.

Just sexual assault dubbed as romcom

Klao is like Mineta(from MHA, yk that perverted grape head) if he were a rich, high-morality(except sexually) woman whose dream job was to be a farmer or something, if that gives an idea of how weird she was. Couldn't continue watching it, so I dropped it. If we're gonna get some character development of "I won't take advantage of you anymore," the writers should have used their heads and not written that drunk tit-grabbing scene at the start of ep 4. And idc if it falls under the category of "oh she's drunk" because it clearly came from bad intentions and wasn't a mistake coz that's what she's been doing since ep 1. Ik a bunch of series do this drunk accidental kiss thing, and it usually doesn't come out of bad intentions because they don't go further unless they're dating or have had sober consent, but this show does none of that, since ep 1. Si doesn't care, but that's just my limit. U don't have to care, Si, but I do, and I'm out.

Klao is just a pervert and a borderline rapist. I'm all for sussy women, but u barely know Si, and peeking to see her naked is just creep behavior idgaf, because why is someone so comfortable doing that? Idk why we're romanticizing this

Si isn't that amazing either coz then she proceeds to kiss Klao without consent when she's drunk too. Drunk consent isn't consent, but in this case, drunk consent wasn't a considered thing either. And she's also a terribly written character coz there's not much to root for. Just a rude, rich girl.

Jiw is the best character here(and tbh the only character that had PLOT - and apparently he's dead, so what DOES this show have to offer besides immoral characters). He's the only character worth watching the show for. I love LMSY as much as the next person, but this show is so buns. Both Klao and Si seem like assholes to me, and that's why they work out well together ig. They don't have any character development either (at least till ep 4; can't be bothered to know if they do end up having any later)

I think the part that pissed me off the most was how this was labelled a "romcom" and just glazed over assault like that. Because if it was dark comedy, or yk under a more serious framework, I would have at least known what I was getting myself into, because the last thing I need is a romcom that's supposed to make me feel better just to have the main character doing stuff that's not a laughing matter. This show is rated 13+(here in mdl), btw, so a teenager (I'm a teen too) could watch it, see Klao and what she's doing, and consider her behavior excusable, but it's not. The tags could at least have made it clear that this isn’t simply a romance and comedy show. Women can be sexual assaulters too.

A story about accepting yourself, accepting others, and personal growth.

Hometown Romance is without a doubt one of the most refreshing Thai GL series in recent years. In a genre that is often built around heavy drama, suffering, and toxic relationships, this series goes in a completely different direction. Instead of building its story around pain and endless conflict, it chooses warmth, humor, romance, and character growth, making it feel more like a story about maturity, change, and self-discovery than a classic melodrama. The series follows Si, a spoiled heiress from a wealthy family who, after losing her chance to become company president, ends up in the countryside because of a land dispute involving Klao’s family. It is there that she meets the girl who will completely change the way she sees the world. The “rich city girl ends up in the countryside” trope is not new, but the execution gives the story its own identity and a lot of heart. The series does not use this contrast only as romantic scenery — it turns it into the foundation of the characters’ development.

The series does a very good job introducing the world, the conflict, and its characters. From the beginning, it is clear who Si is, why she behaves the way she does, and that her problems do not come only from her personality. The story immediately suggests that behind her impulsiveness, selfishness, and superficial view of people are past experiences, relationships, and the way she was treated by her family. The pilot also builds the contrast between Si’s world and Klao’s world extremely well — on one side there is Bangkok, full of pressure, responsibilities, and expectations, and on the other there is the peaceful countryside, built more around relationships and everyday life. The pacing is very well balanced. The story never drags, but it never rushes either. There is always something happening, while still leaving room for ordinary daily moments, character development, and relationship building. Those quieter scenes give the series its unique atmosphere and make the world feel alive. The dialogue also works very well. Especially in lighter scenes and moments of teasing between the leads, the conversations feel natural and memorable. The humor never feels forced, while the series still includes more emotional storylines when needed.

10/10 One of the best GLs of 2026
What can I say, it was one of the most anticipated GLs of 2026 and for me, it might be the best one too. It went beyond my expectations. The script is very well-written, Sonya is extremely talented and expressive actress and Lookmhee is very nonchalant and teasing. They're perfect for these roles. Jokes are genuinely funny, not like the cringey ones I've witnessed in other GLs. I don't think there's ever been or ever will be a bad LMSY series. They have this amazing ability to really make you see and feel for the character, they're one of the most underrated actresses in my opinion. What else is there to say, for me, it is simply perfect.

Clichêzinho divertidinho

Posso dizer que amei logo de início. Eu nem conhecia as atrizes, então fui assistir sem expectativa nenhuma.

Achei a série bem divertida, funcionando como uma verdadeira comédia romântica, ainda mais com os clichês de casamento por conveniência e da dinâmica em que uma é patricinha e superficial, enquanto a outra é do campo e mais desapegada de bens materiais, mesmo sendo riquíssima.

Acho que a série foi muito bem até mais ou menos o episódio 5, quando o foco estava na vida no campo e no início da relação delas. Mais para frente, começam a focar em umas tramas que achei bem chatas, como a da ex doida da Si.

Gostei muito do personagem do menino. Fiquei meio assim com a questão da saúde dele, mas, como era uma comédia, não imaginei que ele realmente iria morrer. Acabei pegando esse spoiler sem querer, mas o que mais me incomodou foi a forma como isso foi tratado. O personagem simplesmente sumiu e, depois, só falaram que tinha morrido. Achei tudo muito anticlimático, sabe?

Às vezes, quando a Klao acabava forçando um pouco a situação com a Si, ela sempre pedia desculpas. Na minha opinião, era melhor nem ter forçado a barra, mesmo que a Si fosse difícil de lidar. Sabemos que não justifica.
Pelo menos ela reconhecia que tinha errado, revia suas atitudes e pedia desculpas, né?
Então, se relevamos isso, dá pra dizer que a Klao é uma Green Flag.

Lá para o final, depois do casamento, se não me engano, colocaram outra menina do nada na história só para fazer ciúmes na Si. Achei isso muito jogado. A personagem sumiu tão rápido quanto apareceu, servindo apenas para separar as duas e depois elas voltarem mais fortes juntas e afins.

A Si teve um desenvolvimento legal até. Passou a se importar mais com os outros, a ver beleza na simplicidade e a rever suas atitudes.

Acho que gostei da forma como as coisas foram resolvidas com a família da Si. Eu entendo eles não confiarem nela no início, porque ela realmente era muito superficial e zero interessada em trabalhar quando isso não a beneficiava, o que por muitas vezes era irritante como ela se sentia deixada de lado quando era apenas uma consequência das ações da mesma.
Mas achei que a Si teve um bom desenvolvimento nesse aspecto, principalmente quando comparada ao início da série.

No geral, acho que a história começou muito bem, mas foi perdendo a força conforme os episódios passaram, se repetindo demais com as mesmas tramas, e quando aparecia uma trama nova parecia algo jogado.
Ainda assim, considero um GL bom e divertido de assistir.

Agora algo não relacionado as personagens e a série e sim a atriz da Klao, a Lookmee.
Enquanto assistia, senti que a atriz parecia ser bem magra, o que não é problema se ela estiver saudável, eu mesma sou um palito. Mas por curiosidade, fui ver como ela estava em outros gls e acho que ela não era tão magra assim. Senti um pouco de preocupação, como não vejo muito sobre elas, acabei não vendo se o fandom delas também chegou a comentar sobre isso.
Acho que é algo relevante de ser abordado por causa da volta da moda da magreza extrema. Mas espero que a atriz esteja bem e saudável!

P.S.: A música que elas cantam é MUITO viciante.

Que buen ASMR

Me siento estafada ¿Por qué? Por el simple hecho de que a mi me vendieron esto como un romance entre la nena millonaria mimada y una chica de granja que era importante por el hecho de tener terrenos, pero resulto ser la historia de dos nepobabies en donde una tiene menos personalidad que la otra. Klao nunca dice porque se enamoro de Sisi, da a entender que simplemente le gusta Sisi porque es atractiva y ya o si lo quieres pensar mas, a Klao le gusta Sisi porque es masoquista y le prende el hecho de que la hayan humillado públicamente apenas la conoció, se sabe que Klao tiene familia por unas fotos que estan ahi al fondo pero ni siquiera aparecen a su boda, A SU BODA QUE ANDABA ESPESANDO DESDE EL INCIO encima ni te explican el porque Klao parece npc creado nada mas para volar alrededor de Sisi sin tener ninguna característica propia, lo peor es que Sisi es igual, es otro personaje sin personalidad, el único rasgo de personalidad que tiene es el ser odiosa cosa la cual la manejan para el culo porque inicia siendo odiosa, cambia y se vuelve alguien ligeramente mas madura (dentro de lo que cabe que pueda llegar a madurar con los padres de mierda y novia de mierda que mas que ayudarle a evolucionar parece que quieren estancarla) pero el personaje involuciona de la nada al casarse y se vuelve aun mas odiosa que cuando empezó; el único personaje que tenia personalidad propia era el nene y encima lo mataron.

Ya que hable de como involuciona Sisi al casarse, ¿Quién carajos escribió esa parte del guion? Es que desde el momento en que se casan entran en una dinámica del tipo los chistes de mierda que hacen sobre las parejas heterosexuales ya que Sisi por algún motivo se vuelve una histérica de mierda, celosa porque si, Klao parece hasta que le irrita Sisi, como que la lengua se le va y encima de la nada meten a querer quehaga de tercero en discordia, ¿Pero estamos todos locos?

Voy a meter esto aquí pues, no solo en esta serie es donde recorde esto sino que en cierto punto es donde mas se noto, ¿Por qué la mayoría de GLs parecen hechos por gente heterosexual que no sabe nada sobre lo que es ser safica? Los roles son demasiado marcados, una siempre parece el varón que creen ser muchos, ósea el frío y sin sentimientos porque la vida lo orillo a eso, la otra re girly, muy fem, muy li único que me importa es verme linda, verme limpia, verme como la trad wife ideal.

No se si es inconsciente lo que hacen, pero la misógina que irradia es curiosita, se siente como estar viendo una serie heterosexual conservadora a pesar de que estas viendo un GL, me incomoda, no se si soy muy woke para ver mujeres pasar por cosas feas que ya vivimos al día de hoy, que hablando de eso, ¿Alguien me quiere explicar porque Sisi fue acosada sexualmente básicamente toda la serie?
